Cutler hits his favorite third down target, Brandon Stokley, for the first down.
13:44: Flag on the play after Cutler and Darrell Jackson couldn’t connect. Holding on Ben Hamilton and the Broncos are pushed back 10 yards. First-and-20, Cutler escapes the blitz and picks up four after Jon Beason stops him. After an incompletion to Brandon Marshall, it is third and long… Cutler, gives to Selvin Young, but he is stopped very short. In fact no gain on the play.
Brett Kern punts and Mark Jones signals for the fair catch at the 27-yard line.
12:05: Nate Webster greets DeAneglo Williams on first down, only a gain of one as the Panthers were trying to setup a screen… Williams gets three on second down and it is third-and-six… and Steve Smith is wide open down the middle of the field. Big gain and a first down. 38 yards on that reception.
9:32: Carolina picks up another first down on two Williams runs, but Ebenezer Ekuban stops Williams for a two-yard loss on the following play…. but that was quickly nullified as Smith picks up a first down.
7:23: Rookie Jonathan Stewart goes in from two yards and the Panthers have jumped on top. Kasey is good and the Broncos trail by a touchdown.
Panther 17 – Broncos 10; 6:29 remaining.
Steve Smith is having a huge first half, five catches for 120 yards.
6:23: Broncos will start the drive at the 21-yard line. Cutler hits P.J. Pope for a 16-yard gain and a first down.
5:47: A holding call on Darrell Jackson will push the Broncos back to the 27, where it will be first-and-15… Cutler, avoids the sack on first down and gets five. Cutler rolls on second down, looks towards Royal and is lucky it wasn’t picked off by defensive end Charles Johnson. Third-and-10, Cutler under center — looks again for Royal. Incomplete, but illegal contact on the Panthers and the Broncos have a first down. Looked like Cutler expected Royal to keep going, but Royal had settled into an open spot.
4:00: Two short plays will force the Broncos into a third-and-seven… Cutler puts Graham in motion and pitches to Young… he is tripped up for a two-yard gain. Out comes Kern. Kern boots it high and it lands on the goalline and bounces in for a touchback. First down Panthers at the 20.
2:24: On first down, the Panthers continue to attack the seams but Delhomme cannot hit Muhammad. But the Panthers pick up the first down just before the two-minute warning as Delhomme hits tight end Jeff King.
2:00: First-and-10 for the Panthers at their 35-yard line. Delhomme to Smith gets six yards then Williams loses one on the following play. Third-and-five… Delhomme to Williams, but the Broncos coral him a yard short. Out comes the punt team for Carolina.
0:34: Royal waves off his teammates and the ball falls at the Denver 18. Cutler is in the gun on first down. Has all day to pass and connects with Graham, but no gain. Denver calls a timeout.
0:17: Young gets the carry and fumbles, Carolina picks it up and they will look to add to their lead before the half.
0:07: Delhomme carries to center the ball and out comes Kasey. The attempt will be from 45 yards. And the 18-year pro splits the uprights.

Boy, can you feel the pressure now? Their D might just be too much for our offense to handle. But finally a penalty on Carolina.
And our D isn’t terrible they just need to really really really step up. They need to get more aggressive.

i give up on this game already, the offensive play calling is horrendous we have cutler, marshall, royal, stokely and scheffler for a reason, when we are down to essentially no running bakcs we should not being running it this much is such terrible situations, we should do what we did the first drive and throw it, that worked, why not stick with it, and on d, why switch to a 4-4-3, have the coaches not learned anything? when we try to over complicate things and make switches mid season we suck, when we stick to basics we’re not half bad, why confuse a d that has been picking up momentum with such a shift? just to get woodyard on the field? i’m sorry that doesn’t make any sense to me i think the SD win got to the team who went out on the field thinking they had clinched a spot in the post season, they better come out next half with a little more energy and play like they want to win, one can only hope
