INJURY UPDATE: Panthers DT Maake Kemoeatu has an injured ankle and will not return.
15:00: Carolina will start the quarter third-and-nine at their 38. And they pick it up, Jake Delhomme to Steve Smith for 17 yards.
14:14: Jonathan Stewart gets nine on first down… a Panther is down following the play. The injured player is G Keydrick Vincent, he is up and walking off the field.
13:58: Stewart gets 10 on second down and the Panthers are inside the Denver 30.
INJURY UPDATE: Vincent has an injured groin and will not return.
12:30: Third-and-seven for the Panthers. Delhomme looks for Jeff King, but it is overthrown. Fourth down and out comes Kasey. Kasey from 42-yards out is good.
Panthers 30 – Broncos 10; 11:21 remaining.
11:22: Selvin Young is back to receive the kick. He takes it to the 28-yard line. Royal is back in on offense, so looks like they were just giving him a rest on that kickoff.
11:15: On second down, Kory Lichtensteiger can’t contain Charles Johnson who sacks Cutler. Broncos can’t pick up the third and long and out comes Kern. Another nice kick by the rookie and Mark Jones signals for the fair catch at the 25.
Lichtensteiger replaced Chris Kuper, who came off the field after the first down play. Not sure what happened to Kuper, but he was pointing to his helmet. May just be an equipment issue. We shall see.
INJURY UPDATE: DeAngelo Williams is shaken up and is questionable to return.
INJURY UPDATE: Kuper has a left hand injury and his return is questionable.
9:00: The Panthers pick up the first down as Delhomme hands off to Smith for a nine-yard gain.
8:15: Third-and-six for the Panthers, the give is to Stewart who powers his way for 11 yards and a first down.
6:05: Williams is back in for the Panthers and gains four on second down… Delhomme is under center for third down, but John Fox doesn’t like what he sees and calls for a timeout.
A false start penalty will push the Panthers back five yards. Delhomme hits Williams on a swing pass, but Dre’ Bly brings him down for a short gain, in fact he lost a few yards. Penalty flag after the play. Personal foul on Jordan Gross and that will push the Panthers back further. Baker is out to punt to Royal… no room for Royal after reversing field twice. Broncos will have it at the 12.
Marquand Manuel is down after the punt and the trainers are out to see him. He is up, but needs some help off the field.
4:00: Four yards on first down for Pope… on second down, Cutler hits Royal who takes a shot from Jon Beason but gets five. Third-and-one, and Pope gets the first down and some more. Longest run of the day as Pope takes it 24 yards.
2:24: Cutler looks deep for Marshall, but Chris Gamble has good coverage and the ball falls incomplete. two-minute warning.
2:00: Second-and-ten after the two-minute warning and Bell gets a first down… and gets 16 on the next play. Broncos at the Panthers 25.
0:50: Cutler to Marshall… he looks to make something happen, but is brought down after seven yards… Cutler in the gun, avoids one, but former is brought down by Tyler Brayton for a sack. That will end it, the Broncos fail to clinch in Carolina and fall to 8-6.
Panthers 30 – Broncos 10.

This is a sad state of affairs… the game is so lopsided, my CBS affiliate just switched OFF of the Denver game and on to the Pittsburgh/Baltimore game. CBS, the ultimate giver uppers!
Been along time since i’ve seen the offense look this stagnant. Cutler looks indecisive, no running game, have yet to stretch the field, just seem content to dinky dunk and go nowhere
one bright spot in this game is josh barrett
Well imagine that the network got bored with this game and switched to Pittsburgh and Baltimore.I thought I was the only one. Not looking good for this Bronco team
Sad. Very sad.
Down by 20, 2 mins to go…….
Get those starting players out of field!!!
We can’t afford to lose another/or more injuries.
It’s about time to prepare for Bills next week.
Hmmmm, next week we need a win!!! Need some momentum going into the playoffs!!! can’t let SD come back….i would feel terrible if SD comes out and wins our division.
Yes, it’s times like these when I feel that Cutler looks like a rookie. That’s a tough growing process but also a critical one. What’s worse is the D giving up about 9 yds a carry. Geez, thought we fixed that? I will watch closely as to what Shanahan does this offseason as far as the D goes. I personally think it’s a combo of personnel & coaching. The older I get the more I appreciate the coaches impact on the development of players. Just look at the Pats; they can make nobody’s into definite somebodys. Coaching, coaching, coaching. That probably indirectly states what I think of our defensive coaches. If we had some good coaches perhaps the basement-bargain defensive players we’ve signed over the last few years would make the difference needed & hoped for…
The worst offensivelly called games of the YEAR! BOOO! to the o coaches! If the Broncos possessed the ball more than 15min. in this game I will be shocked, and don’t give me “the D cant stop any body crap. The o 3&out way to many times, do to the poor offensive scheme then penalties, and turnovers is what lost this game AGAIN. I can’t wait to see the game book on this one.
I’m so mad I’m going over to my mother in laws house to put up Xmas lights! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
one word to sum up this game – PATHETIC!
We still can clinch our division if we win next week and/or SD loses. Otherwise, the decision will be made when we go to SD for our last game… that should be a complete riot (and we all know I’m not kidding). That game will be absolutely intense whether we’re still trying to get the division or not. I can feel the intensity already… we get the division before that game they’ll hate us forever which is alright with me (I’ll be laughing like crazy) and if we have to beat SD to get the division we’ll be in for the fight of our lives!!!
Now that the game is officially over, that was a sad performance but I said it… we had to fight for that win if that’s what these players wanted to do. I think it was all a matter of the players’ mentality of the game… we’ve gone through the injury season we’ll never forget (unfortunately) and we’ve played just about every rookie on the team b/c of the injuries. We lost the foundation of our running game in Hillis for the season and it boy did it show. Cutler was able to get away with his power arm early on b/c they hadn’t figured him out yet… they figured him out faster than I thought they would. There were times where Cutler had all frickin’ day to throw that ball which was awesome and good job by the O-line but he still couldn’t connect with the receivers.
Sad moment for us but this isnt’ over… we can still get the West but I can’t say this enough – WE WILL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT. And even though we lost, there’s still no reason to get hasty around here and just flat give up. Its just plain silly to flip flop back and forth like some of you do around here… its annoying as hell (pardon my french). Get some backbone around here and have some faith people… IT NOT OVER!!
With all my faith, I still believe…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
We really need Champ to come back…
were going to miss peyton hillis and what he brought to our run game
I agree with berlownacyo7s. We are really miss Champ out their. Steve Smith would have had a tougher time. No balance on offense and it makes it easier to defend. Run D was good except one play. We need a RB to step up and we need to beat Buffalo.
Wow I could complain SO much about coaching in this one but I think I’ll chalk this one up to being beat by a good healthy team in their house. Good game Broncos.
It hurts real bad.
Let’s get champ back with our D line playing better (so he can cover)
Let’s run the ball
Let’s get the division
Let’s see what happens next
We’re YOUNG
We’re SKILLED
We’re going to WIN THE AFC WEST
We’re SO HAVING HIGH HOPES FOR THE FUTURE
WE”RE THE BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Panthers are a really good, mature & balanced team. The Broncos are a sometimes good, young & lopsided team. We had NO pass rush today, none. That is the #1 issue for our D and until it is addressed, our D will remain at the bottom of the league. By contrast, Carolina’s D line gave our team fits all day, especially in the second half. Our O line is really good, but you see what can happen when a really good D line gets going, Cutler goes down and throws bad throws. Fortunately, the Bills are not so good, and we need to spank those loudmouth sissies in San Diego and remind them who is still boss of the West. This Bronco team has a very bright future, this year is just the sparks of a fire.
GO BRONCOS!
what was bright about Barrett besides his interception falling into his hands.. he took a bad pursuit angle on Williams long TD run and wasnt even close to making a stop
I know we’re a young team and we have shown some great strides this season. Quite frankly though I’m getting tired of that as an excuse for the bad play of this team. We are young and we do have a lot of injuries and have guys that need to step up. When you can play really well for a few games and then play really bad that isn’t an issue with being young. We’ve obviously showed that being a young team we can still get the job done against some good teams. It is the same story though, turnovers, injuries, young guys needing to step up. I’m starting to get really pissed off at the inconsistent play of this team. Nothing against anyone specifically. I really hope that we can do something to keep our heads up. We haven’t won the division yet and if we’re not careful it could bite us in the butt. The problem is the fundamentals, wrapping up to tackle, maintaining your gap, knowing your assignment. You can point to whatever reason you want to for the inconsistent play this season, I think it is the fundamentals. We are young but that isn’t an excuse,we’ve showed that young guys get the job done as well as wiley old vets. I don’t know whats worse, our RB situation or the fact that Cutler has showed that he can’t carry the team on his shoulders which he pretty much has to do now. What’s done is done, lets go get us some Buffalo meat.
Go Broncos!!!
I think it just boils down to the fact that our defensive scheme against the panthers got exposed early especially with champ out. Steve Smith had a field day on our 3 man secondary without champ as one of those 3 men. Overall I liked the idea and I think that with champ playing we might have kept the game a lot closer. On top of that we have finally run out of RB’s as of now, the RB situation is completely rediculous and I have never seen a situation like this in my life. When you have 6 RB’s go down throughout a season its going to eventually hurt your running game and I think we now hit the point were we dont have any gems left at the RB position. I expect shanahan to evaluate these 4 rbs left very hard this week and stick with a combination of 2 or 3 of them max, I’m not worried about playoffs at this point because with our running situation i dont see us going past the first round anyway but I’m excited for next season especially with hillis and torian coming back and then if we can manage a good heavily defense draft we could be a much more well rounded team next season. However, if cutler gets hot in the first playoff game and it rolls over we could make some noise, this season has really been thrust on his arm now with all the rb injuries.
the showing from both sides of the ball was pretty bad,
only 10 points scored, 30 points allowed.
this game showed how much our defense needs champ,
and what a difference a little bit of a running game can make.
we definately need a new kicker, as matt prater is the worst in the league right now. also, someone needs to tell josh bell to TURN AROUND when covering recievers, as we we burned by the back shoulder throw numerous times.
on the bright side, i thought barrett played decent, though he did have one bad angle, which led to a touchdown. Ryan Clady played superbly against Julius Peppers, who is one of the best in the league. hopefully we clinch next week vs. Buffalo, or the chargers lose. i have a feeling if it comes down to the last game of the year, that SD will take the division. don’t hate on that pick, that’s just a gut feeling.
The Panthers are a Super Bowl caliber Team, and we showed that we’re just not on the same level with them, (today anyway). Barret did do well, and was out of position on the long score in the 3rd qtr as he was cheating up to help with Steve Smith. We did well overall against the rush and got burned over the top, (pass defense). Time of possesion was only about a minute & change more for the Panthers. They were just a hecka alot more productive on offense. Well said buckeyebronco: balance is something we did not have…without a running game, we’re to predictable and they made their defensive adjustments and shut us down. Now it’s time to get ready for the Bills next week at home. It will be high noon for us next Sunday, so our Team better be ready to make a statement, because we don’t want to give the Chargers any glimmer of hope. The Chargers will also have their hands full as they travel to Tampa to play the Bucs who also lost today in OT to Atlanta.
Let’s beat the Bills and see what happens afterwards. GO BRONCOS!!!
not having champ today killed us, because steve smith was open all day… we didnt rush the ball good until the 4th qaurter… and the protection of cutler was terrible
lets regroup and clinch the division next week
I thought we were on a roll and had momentum and always rose to the challenge when we were the underdogs but this game was pathetic….they didnt play like Broncos….play calling was lacking, offensive production was minimal and we didn’t need to bring selvin young back. We really needed champ today…I stated earlier that this was the most crucial game we needed champ for left in this season cuz steve smith will torch bell and bly….It is what it is…I was hoping for more but now i just want us to clinch the division….we can’t let it come down to the SD game….
I think bronco players saw that KC SD score and thought KC had done the job for them…..sadly…..they didnt….just regroup and do your stuff people….
Because of all the RB injuries, the Broncos are essentially a one dimension team. It took Carolina three Bronco offensive possesions to figure out the Broncos scheme and thus they were able to shut them down the rest of the game. Prater certainly has a major problem with 40 yarders. It’s all in his head as he’s 100% from beyond 50 yards. He’s definitely got the range, but the accuracy sure sucks from 40 to 50. With no half back playing this game you have to wonder about the SD HB they picked up. I guess that he still doesn’t have enough of the Broncos system to make it worth Shannys time to suit him up for the game. No Spencer Larsen??? Still hobbled by injuries???
Well, enough whining. Time to start preparing for ther BIlls. If you’re a disdgruntled Bronco fan, think about being a BIlls fan. They started 5-0 and where are they now?
we got beat on the defensive line no pressure at all we need to run the ball on offense to keep defenses honest just lucky cutler didnt get hurt he took some shots. stokley please get well we need you for the whole game. lets move forward thats all we can do. we still believe go broncos.
Worst part of the game was watching Bly, I mean I literally felt a burning senstation! At some point we have GOT to start playing a more conventional defense. Keeping the safety 43 yards off the line is just NOT going to cut it! Like I said before, BELL IS NOT THE ANSWER, that dude goes down on first contact EVERY TIME!
I can spend all day saying what we need and what we need to do but I don’t have the time. Fact of the matter is we have been having a crazy season with injuries, inconsistent play, bright rookies stepping up. It has been a soap opera of a season. Really what it boils down to is the players. Do THEY want to make it to the playoffs, do THEY want to play in a Super Bowl, do THEY want to play well and follow their assignments. Yes, some has to do with physical ability and God given talent. Shanny is always talking about how guys have shown effort and that’s why he’s going to give them a chance, and that’s ok. However if you’re going to show the effort in practice and then just flop on game day that BS. If all you’re doing is practicing hard to get a spot then don’t even show up. So if the players want to play well and win the division and make it to the playoffs only they can decide what they want to do. Frankly sometimes it looks like they want the season to be over already.
We’re on a Buffalo hunt this week, Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Morning all, waking up, sipping a cup of coffee and thinking to myself, self, did I dream yesterday’s game or did it really happen? Well unfortunately it was not a dream, so here goes my 2 cents worth. First of all, I believe the coaches gotta believe in our run game more and utilize it for some balance. That has been the key to our victories. It would of been nice to see consistency at the running back position yesterday. Pope, in my opinion should spell Young when he returns. Obviously, Young is not in “football” shape yet, looked rusty, especially with the fumble.
I think the offense started off excellent, then sputtered because the lack of the running game. If an offense becomes one dimensional then it’s easy to attack the QB. That’s why Jay was sacked more in this game than any other. He was holding onto the ball way too long, credit Carolina for the down the field coverage.
I think our defense did a good job, with the exception of a few big plays. I said in my past blog that Carolina is an opportunistic team. If their opponent turns the ball over to them, Carolina makes you play. Not that great of a team, but they do make the big plays when necessary. We Truly needed Champ back in this game. Steve Smith is a high caliber receiver and Champ would of been able to handle him. Our young guy’s did a decent job covering him, he is just a smart veteran who was able to get open and our young guy’s lost track of him. He should of been blanketed.
We even had another opportunity to get back in this game with the Delhomme interception. Offense just couldn’t get it done in this one folks. We needed our offense to score points when Carolina didn’t and score when Carolina did. Yea, bad game because we lost, but there were some bright spots.
I would like to say, WTF is with Prater? I say we go for it on fourth down from now on if were inside the opponents territory. This guy’s accuracy is pathetic. You get paid to kick the ball, that’s it, nothing else. You think you could work on it please. Has the leg, just doesn’t have the accuracy. Seek Hypnosis.
Go Broncos beat the Bill = AFC West Champs = Playoffs.
ok im back…i kno i havent been own in awile…my computer had a virus but watever with that…i just got one thing to say is marshall need to stop playing pretty and take a hit. i know yall notice that marshall had a first down and instead of going forward he went sideways….i was at the game…the section i was in was all panthers and i got trashed but i still wore my orange and blue proudly. i bleed orange and blue but we need to get tatum the ball more he was doing alright. so we can get some bootlegs amd play actions. guys we are still going to the SUPER BOWL. NOBODY DOUBT US. IF YOU WANNA BE BRONCOS FANS DOUNT US… YOU ARE THE REASON WE ARE LOSING…JUST TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THE PLAYERS AND THE COACHES DO READ WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY…SO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY *COUGH*FAKE BRONCOS FANS*COUGH* SO GUYS WE ARE STILL THE NUMBER 1 TEAM IN THE NFL NO MATTER WHAT THE RECORDS SAY BECAUSE EVERYBODY WAMTS HORSE POWER
THE BOYS ARE JUST FINE!
IT WAS A BAD DAY PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
AND WHOEVER SAID THE RUN DEFENSE WAS BAD AGAIN? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? OUTSIDE OF THE LONG RUN WE TOOK THE BEST TANDUM BACK DUO IN THE LEAGUE AND KEPT BOTH OF THEM BELOW 100 YARDS.
SECONDLY THIS WAS A DAY THE OFFENSE DIDN’T DO THEIR JOBS! FINE, I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.
9 DRIVES THE BOYS PUT TOGETHER WITHOUT POINTS…..THAT IS OFFENSE!
LOOK, KICK BUFFALO’S A$$ AND LET’S MOVE ON.
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
OH AN BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!!
I’M KIND OF GLAD THEY LOST AND HERE’S WHY? WON’T IT BE A NICE LITTLE GIFT CLINCHING THE DIVISION AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
JUST TO CLARIFY,
I NEVER WANT A LOSS, I WAS JUST GETTING A HEAD OF MYSELF.
I really do think our boys will be just fine. Plus, I am glad they’ll clinch at home.
Maybe this loss happened for a reason. If we make it to the playoffs, we may see this team again. If that happens maybe that will the more fuel to the fire for our guys. First though lets take care of the rest of the season. Get your knives ready to skin some Buffalo.
Go Broncos!!!!
Broncomania56 bro you hit it on the head, no ballance on the Oside. The first two drives were beautifully ballanced running and passing the ball on first down evenly, eating up the clock 9:07 to 5:53 in the first qtr. then all the sudden the O Coaches call three pass plays in a row and then a draw on 3rd and 16 REALLY!? WE HAD THEM RIGHT WERE WE WANTED THEM!
This game was lost with the O and I wish the O wasn’t so neuratic.
I am shocked that the TIME OF POSSESSION was so close, it seemed the D was on the field most of the game. That was the beginning of the crappy play calling and poor execution from the players. Three 3&outs! (all three started with an incomplete pass on first down) UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Two turnovers! UNACCEPTABLE!
O Coaches you have to call more run playes on first down! 9 run plays to 17 pass plays called on first down thats not Ballenced. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Why did’nt the TEAM have a fullback in the game isn’t A. Pinnock ready? I think that limited the formations as well.
Look I really don’t care that the Broncos lost this game as much as it sounds but I do wish the Broncos would’ve played and called a better game. There were some good things done in this game. I agree again the D played well considering the O kept putting them in bad positions, and take away that one run the D held the best running game to under 100yrd.(but you can’t do that). The linebackers look good, the O line looked good till Hamilton got hurt, get well Big Ben. So get it together and do something I can be proud of next weekend.
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
Win and you’re in….if that isn’t enough motiviation they should be sitting on the couch with the rest of us.
Sorry it was Cris Kuper that broke his hand not Big Ben. DOH!
TIME OF POSSESSION! ! !
GO BRONCOS! ! !
