The Broncos will host the New York Jets in a primetime matchup on Thursday night on NFL Network. It marks the second consecutive season that the Jets have traveled to Denver and the 33rd regular-season meeting between the clubs. The Jets narrowly edge the Broncos 24-20 last season.
Denver leads the all-time series 16-15-1, with a 9-8 advantage in the Mile High City.
The teams have met once in the postseason, with the Broncos earning a 23-10 victory in the AFC Championship game on Jan. 17, 1998. Denver would go on to win Super Bowl XXXII the next week.
Notable performances against the Jets:
RB Willis McGahee: In eight career games against the Jets, McGahee is averaging 100 rushing yards per game. He has topped the 100-yard rushing mark five times against the Jets — the most 100-yard games he has recorded against any opponent.
CB Champ Bailey: Has registered one interception along with four pass breakups and one forced fumble in his career against the Jets.
DE Elvis Dumervil: Posted one sack and a forced fumble in his only career game against the Jets (10/30/08).
CB Andre’ Goodman: Picked off two passes and forced a fumble against the Jets on Dec. 28, 2008 while playing for the Dolphins.
DE Jason Hunter: Recorded his first career interception in last season’s game against the Jets and returned it 14 yards.
Denver-New York Jets Roster Connections
Some interesting roster connections between the Broncos and Jets courtesy of research done by Public Relations Intern Cydney Ricker:
Jets wide receiver Eron Riley started the season on the Broncos practice squad before New York signed him to its active roster on Oct. 19.
Broncos running back Willis McGahee and wide receiver Eron Riley played for Baltimore while Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan, Defensive Coordinator Mike Pettine, linebacker Bart Scott and safety Jim Leonhard were with the Ravens.
Jets Running Backs Coach Anthony Lynn was a running back for the Broncos in 1993 and returned to Denver for the 1997-99 seasons. He later rejoined the franchise as a coach from 2000-02 as an offensive assistant/assistant special teams coach.

For those wondering-
Broncos are 5 point underdogs. At home. With an over/under at 42.5…
r u ready for some FOOTBAAAALLLLL? ALL I WANT IS A WIN! I DONT CARE IF ITS BY ONE POINT. I AM HOPING SANCHEZ GETS SACKED SO MANY TIMES THEY ASK HIM PAPER OR PLASTIC. GOOOOOOOOOO MY BELOVED ORANGE & BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a discussion topic…
Do you think Rex Ryan is crazy enough to use Cover 0? Stack the box, blitz with everyone that isn’t man to man with a WR and leave yourself extremely vunerable to huge plays.
I’m mad at champster – I thought I was going to get WOS points. Now I’m not even in the running. Anything is better that a goose egg. Oil well! guess the Broncs will just have to put 35 on the Jets…
paper or plastic!!! – hahahahahahah and LOL
Also, a cover 0 would leave Julius Thomas open for a breakout game.
If we ever pass lol
709 – the over staffed rush that Detroit used to ‘get to’ Tebow is gone – the option has eliminated it.
You will see patient LB’s waiting for the run up the middle and on the wings. Denver has to take these defenders on man to man before help can arrive.
It also gives the pass and extra second or two to develop.
I am so glad fan voting only counts for a third of the Pro Bowl voting….if Tebow leads….now i shudder….Colquitt for Pro Bowl….and an outside chance for Von Miller….that’s all we got
Just called my cable provider and bought NFL Network so that I can watch the game today. It is a rare occasion that the Broncos are on tv over here in Iowa. I usually get Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit, or Green Bay. LAME. And today I have a chance to see the Broncos on tv for a small fee. Worth every penny regardless of the end result. Go Broncos!
K before you start to hate, just read. I actually think losing this game might be good for us. As long as we dont get blown out and compete for 60 minutes it might even be in our best interest. Sometimes situations like that help to bring teams together at the most important times of the year and the best TEAMS are the ones that bring home the lombardi. Im really like the personnel we have cos they mesh well together.
a gut check can really motivate a team for the long haul down the road and through the playoffs
Carnage, why are you so grumpy man? I understand if you are not a Tebowmaniac, but now I’m starting to doubt if you are even a Bronco Fan! WE ARE WINNING LATELY, relax buddy.
eternal you are being weird in your own way, losses in the second part of the season can arguably be good if you are a WINNING team, not one with a losing record. it’s to help over confident teams get a grip on reality and if we are over confident with a 4-5 record we’ve got much bigger issues, LOL.
And no daddy, the points mean nothing to me. And I say that with a straight face, too bad you can’t see it.
And I’m going under the unders sndvl, haha.
Pretty cool, Broncos Primetime, just 3 and a half hour from now!
Barring a late setback Willis M is starting tonight. Just broke on nfl.com
Oooooooo – never gonna play poker with Bay! LOL
Course – I never play poker with anyone. My cash is in high demand.
Still won’t believe it until I see it. Questionable under Fox usually means out…
Lets with the turnover battle in a big way. Hopre our D can score some points.
It`s getting close!
Just a little speculation – I think McG starts – plays the first down or set of downs. – Ball takes over after that and we won’t see McG unless Broncs get seriously behind or Ball is not able to put together any 1st downs – 5-8 yard advances etc. I thinking and hoping we get to see JJ every now and again, cuz I’d like to get a feel for what he can do in this offense as well as against a defensive team like the Jets.
Wouldn’t it be cool if JJ gets thrown in a couple of times and he breaks of a major run or two!
My gut feeling is we win this game because the Jets are reeling. They`ve lost there identity and Sanchez has lost his confidence.
I`d want to see JJ run the rock.
Lets hope the raiders lose sunday At the Vikings. I don`t see S.D. or K.C. winning this weekend. Though road games for those two teams.
Tough road games for S.D. and K.C.
And Debbie Jones, I mean Lindsay Jones is being a downer just before game time:
The underrated stat in the Broncos recent success has been that their three wins since the start of the (2011) Tebow era have all come on the road.
In Tebow’s lone start this year in front of the home crowd at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the Broncos were embarrassed in a 45-10 loss to Detroit, and Tebow played his worst professional game, with an interception and fumble that were returned for touchdowns.
But thankfully Dawk is here to righten the ship:
Safety Brian Dawkins was already stressing the importance of playing better at home while he was still in the locker room in Kansas City a few days ago — not just because successful teams have to win at home, but because the home fans deserve it.
“We have to turn this thing around and give the fans something to cheer about at the house. To win as many as we have on the road, but not to win many at home, we have to turn that around,” Dawkins said. “We’re going to make sure we do that this week.”
And Fox is trying to explain why but he doesn’t convince me at all:
Head coach John Fox, never one to miss an opportunity to drop a cliche, said he’s a believer in the idea of, “Not where, but who,” to explain the team’s lopsided home-road record this year. The team’s road wins have come against Miami (2-7), Kansas City (4-5) and Oakland (5-4). Home losses have been to Oakland, San Diego (4-5) and Detroit (6-3).
So what’s the big difference here, other than Detroit being better than Miami all the AFC West teams are about of the same strength, no reason whatsoever to excuse the home losses against Oakland and SD on strength of opponent, just saying.
Time for the Broncos to wake up at home, just like Dawk is basically saying, try to spend the night in a hotel in Denver before games instead of sleeping in the comfort of home, maybe that’s all that’s needed, just saying, get them players away from the wives! LOL.
Yeah daddy, I can teach Xanders a thing or two about poker, haha.
And Ryan in essence not mincing words about what Tebow is up against tonight:
Several teams, including the Eagles, Chiefs and Texans, are facing the prospect this weekend of starting a backup quarterback. The Colts have done that all season long.
“You’re also seeing a lot of these quarterbacks get knocked out of games and out for seasons and all that other stuff,” Rex Ryan said. “That’s one way to control the passing game, is hit the quarterback.”
But Ryan, please take it easy on Tebow, remember you said he is not a passer and that we won’t even try to pass the ball.
Some don`t have a poker face. LOL
In fact if you look at Tebow’s pic on top of this blog, it’s obvious he has the look of a professional RB! It’s almost as perfect a form as the Heisman trophy he won.
Thats part of playing football. Knock the QB around, if he gets injured, next man up.
As for the Broncos at QB, next man up we`re in big doo doo.
Yiuppie, Quinn coming up!
And he doesn`t even have to pose.
I`d probably want to see Weber instead. LOL
Not from the PS you won’t, gotta move him up first.
Yes I know, just saying. LOL
So you and I went completely different directions this week strand, you 31-27, I 13-9, both Bronco wins but a gigantic different outlook on the game that’s for sure.
We`ll see. Good stuff.
Actually we both have a 4 point win now that I look at it, LOL.
This game will be a good measuring reed for the rest of the season. The Jets D is tough.
There O stinks lately.
And this blog feels like my canoe, it has gotten to that point of the river where the water is going dead calm…. must be some pretty right down scary rapid coming up pretty soon.
btw – the only teams with winning records that the Jets have beat are the Cowboys and the Bills. Dallas was the first game of the season and a lot of water under the bridge since.
That particular stat gives me encouragement for tonight.
You need lots of encouragement for 35-17, LOL.
Tighten down the beer cooler!
LOL! Funny you say that. I went on a three day conoe trip with my reletives in Texas a few years ago. What a blast. But yeah Calm before the storm. Good analogy.
Women and children first, then the beer coolers. Or is it the other way around. HaHa!
