15:00: Brett Kern is back to punt and Dennis Northcutt is back to receive for the Jaguars. Kern gets the punt away despite some pressure, and he’s knocked to the ground but there’s no flag. The ball bounces into the endzone and Jacksonville will start the first drive of the fourth quarter on their own 20.
14:07: The Jaguars follow up a two-yard gain on first down with a first-down completion to Matt Jones. There’s a player down after the play — it’s Boss Bailey.
Boss is walking slowly off the field flanked by two trainers, but it’s under his own power.
The Jaguars have a first-and-10 at their own 36. David Garrard drops back and rolls to his right, buying time before finding his running back Greg Jones for a two-yard gain.
13:13: On second down it’s a draw play to Maurice Jones-Drew, but he only picks up two more yards. Third-and-6 and the crowd is making noise. People are coming to their feet as Garrard takes the snap in the shotgun formation. He launches a ball downfield to Matt Jones with Dre’ Bly in defense and Bly reads the route, getting a hand in to break up the pass and forcing a Jacksonville punt.
The Adam Podlesh punt went out of bounds, but the refs mark it at the Denver 28-yard line. That drew some boos from the crowd, as the defensive players on the sideline motioned that the ball should be marked deep in Jaguars territory.
12:15: The offense is huddled up, ready to start another drive as the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are dancing on the field. Cutler takes the snap in the shotgun and tries to gun the ball to Brandon Marshall between two defenders — it’s broken up, setting up second-and-10.
The following play is a delayed handoff to Michael Pittman up the middle that picks up two yards. Third-and-8 from the 30, and Cutler is in shotgun again, Pittman standing to his right. Cutler’s pass is knocked down at the line by former Bronco Reggie Hayward, and Brett Kern is back out to punt.
Dennis Northcutt takes the ball out to the Jacksonville 32-yard line. It’s a 47-yard punt by Kern.
11:17: Garrard rolls right and his pass falls incomplete, intended for Fred Taylor. On second down the crowd is back into it and Kenny Peterson burts through the line for another sack — or so it seems, Garrard somehow manages to escape Peterson’s bear hug and rolls out to his left before throwing the ball out of bounds near Fred Taylor.
11:04: Third-and-10 for the Jaguars, Garrard in shotgun and the Broncos defensive front seven swarms him, led by Nate Webster who bursts through the line virtually untougched to wrap up Garrard for an eight-yard sack.
10:33: It’s fourth-and-18 for the Jaguars, and a false start penalty pushes the ball back five more yards. On fourth-and-23, Podlesh punts the ball away to Glenn Martinez, who finds a seam and burts straight up-field for 27 yards, all the way to the Jacksonville 37. Martinez stayed down momentarily after the return, but he walked off the field under his own power to a loud applause from the crowd.
10:03 Cutler launches the ball down the left sideline toward a streaking Marshall. His defender is right there and the pass falls incomplete, but there’s a flag for illegal contact on Drayton Florence — five yards and an automatic first down for the Broncos.
First-and-10 at the 32-yard line and Cutler is in the shotgun. He drops back and finds Marshall in the middle of the field. It looks like he’s dropped after a short gain, but he ducks his way under tackle after tackle and sprints his way 21 yards toward the right sideline, stepping out of bounds at the 11-yard line, where the Broncos have a first-and-10.
9:25: Second-and-10 for the Broncos after an incomplete pass. Marshall is out wide and PIttman joins him as a receiver before going in motion to the left. Cutler scans the field and it looks like he may dump it off to Pittman in the flats before he guns the ball to a leaping Daniel Graham, who turns and pulls his way past the goal line.
Matt Prater’s extra point is through the uprights and the Broncos are down by a touchdown to the Jaguars, 24-17.
9:19: Prater and the Broncos are lined up for the kickoff. It’s a 22-yard return by Troy Williamson and they’ll start the drive at their own 27. The crowd is fired up. Handoff to Maurice Jones-Drew on first down and he bulls his way forward for seven yards.
Boss Bailey is inciting the crowd as Jones-Drew signals for a first down after bursting his way through the middle of the line to the 41-yard line.
8:10: DE-FENSE is the chant from the crowd, and Boss Bailey walks off the field after being shaken up on the last play. First-and-10 for Jacksonville. It’s a fake handoff by Garrard, who tries to bootleg to his left. He’s brought down by Nate Webster after only one yard.
The crowd comes to its feet on second-and-9. It’s a pass to Matt Jones but he drops it on his way to the ground as Dre’ Bly lays a big hit on him.
That sets up third-and-9 at the 42-yard line for Jacksonville. Now the entire stadium is rocking. Garrard is rolling out to his right, being chased by Elvis Dumervil, and he lets loose a bullet down the right sideline. Marlon McCree makes a great diving breakup and Adam Podlesh is out to punt for Jacksonville on fourth-and-9.
Martinez bursts forward for ten yards on the return and looks like he might have something again — but he’s tackled by two Jaguars at the 31-yard line.
6:50: Jay Cutler takes the snap and hands off to Pittman, who keeps his legs turning and picks up four yards up the middle of the defense.
On second-and-6, Cutler is in the shotgun and Pittman goes in motion out left. Cutler tries to get the ball to Marshall, who is running to the left across the middle of the defense. He drops the ball, however, and it’s third-and-6 for the Broncos at their own 35.
Cutler drops back and avoids the pass rush, but he throws the ball to no one as he is backing away from the defense. Brett Kern is out for the punt on fourth down.
It looks like Northcutt might be able to turn the corner but Niko Koutouvides rides him out of bounds at the 28-yard line. It’s a 42-yard punt by Kern, five-yard return by Northcutt.
5:40: Jones-Drew takes the first-down handoff and he’s stopped by Champ Bailey after no gain. The crowd is chanting DE-FENSE. On second down, Garrard fakes the handoff and rolls out to his left and completes a pass to Reggie Williams. Marlon McCree knocks him out of bounds, setting up a third-and-2.
The crowd is on its feet. Garrard is in the shotgun. He keeps the ball on a quarterback draw, finding a hole up the middle for the first down. Denver calls its first timeout of the half. 4:48 remains in the game.
4:39: Denver calls its second timeout after D.J. Williams and Nate Webster wrapped up Jones-Drew after a gain of two yards. Second-and-8 at their own 41 for the Jaguars.
4:39: Garrard’s pass falls incomplete but the refs call pass interference on Marlon McCree, who arrived seemingly just as the ball arrived — the crowd did not approve of the call as the replay was shown on Thunder Vision. That sets up a first down for the Jaguars at the Denver 32-yard line.
3:20: The crowd is booing as the Jaguars face a third-and-4 at the Denver 26. It’s a handoff to Jones-Drew, and he powers his way for a first down at the 20-yard line.
2:58: Denver calls its third and final timeout. Fred Taylor keeps the pile moving for a four-yard gain on first down. Taylor moves the pile again on second-and-6, picking up six yards and setting up first-and-goal for the Jaguars.
2:00: With Denver out of timeouts, Garrard takes three straight knees to run the clock out and seal the outcome.
The Jaguars beat the Broncos, 24-17. Denver travels to New England for a Monday night matchup next week.

Ok stop ragging on the D first of all. Remember they FORCED TURNOVERS! That’s making a play in my mind, then the offense turned it right back over, THATS SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE LEG! Our D is really improving, we are still 4-2, the defense still had us in the game at the end remember?
I don’t completely agree with those of you saying the call isn’t why we lost the game. Think if the two calls, 1 on McCree and 1 on Bly, those are 2 more 3rd downs that our d gets off the field. And our offense has some momentum! We lost that game cuz of turnovers, but the two terrible calls hurt a lot more than you let on.
I couldn’t agree more with you Grazamataz, we do remember the plays each player misses, Bly is no Champ we all know, but for a team to not be 1 dimensional against us and just run it all the time THEY HAVE TO THROW SOMEWHERE! Get off Bly’s back people. Our safeties hurt us a ton today, I have been pissed we let Hamza go ever since we did. He is better than either of them. Bring him back, and put Barrett in with him!
Sundays always suck when we lose, but on a final note I still have faith in our team, continue to work out the kinks and come on Jay, spread the ball around. You said we changed the style to something like the Pats last year, THEY WERE EFFECTIVE CUZ BRADY DOESN’T ONLY LOOK AT MOSS!
too many turnovers,,too many unconverted 3rd down plays…offense was struggling….
Bly was picked pretty bad….poor guy,,,,,lets not hate too much on the guy,,anyone who plays opposite Champ gets picked on everytime….too many plays given up though…
although i was amazed at Champ..they didnt even think of throwing at him,,and he was amazing at playing the run……personally, i think he is better then Dion Sanders in all categories….the greatest..
Martinez made sum big plays today,,,
the blitz was really working,,i’m sure the coaches didnt want tire out the defense if it blitzd too much….blitzing the whole game in “Mile High” Denver is way diffrnt from blitzing in Philly,,,
Say what you want about the D but they got us a couple of fumbles forced and put it in the hands of out pride and joy THE OFFENSE who in turn turned the ball over on 2 fumbles and 1 interception.
Defense has no deception its very basic. I would understand if it was mainly rooks but we got vets. OUR SAFETY CORE SUCKS (mcree has his moments) and even our offense is lacking the play calling creativity we saw in the first game agaisnt oakland.
We were without royal and sheffler….our recieving core took a big kick to the gonads. Marsh is great and stokely has his flashes of brilliance but without royal and shef….we had 1 target really. 2 if we were lucky
still love the Broncos………….thats funny Gami3it..aha@kicked in the gonads….thats kind of a gud way describe the situation….
Well first off, I told everyone about McCree when we signed him. He is what we thought he was! He can’t tackle and he has horrendous angles on the ball. I would say he only got the go ahead on his reputation coming from the “great” San Diego and not on his play.
I have no clue why we let John Lynch walk, and I’ll go further to say that I think we haven’t seen the last of the #47 in the blue n orange. Shanny has to know that the safety pos is an obvious weakness and will do his best to rectify the problem or we could face another lost season.
Insert the young Josh Barrett, he must be able to do better than either of the M n’ M brothers. And also lets see more of Jack Williams because 32 hasn’t done much since his days in Motown, let’s be honest.
lets throw screen passes and use the tight ends more we will be fine we need to play error free smart football. go broncos
Don’t blame the D-fense this time guys. The offense played absolutely horrible. Cutler has to realize there are other receivers who play on this team too. He forced more passes today then ever. The offense had a chance to tie it up late in the game and they blew the opportunity. The refs decide the winer in this game when they made that f’d up call. No excuses, the offense was the problem today. 2 fumbles and an INT. If the offense would of taken advantage of what the d-fense would give them, we wouldn’t be 4-2, but 5-1. This was a lousy game. Are these other receivers so bad they can’t get open, if so that is scary. Brandon Marshall is a stud, but even he can’t do it alone. Hopefully we show up to play next monday night, go into the bye week and get healthy. GO Broncos!!!
Disappointing ! We can’t make it 2 games in a row , so it’s disappointing . Clearly , our offense didn’t play good , 3 TO and it’s 3 potential scores erased and 3 opportunities for the opponement to score ( they did it twice ) .So… 10 points off the scoreboard for the jags , at lest 6 for us and it’s an easy win by 2 possessions .It was the same against the Chiefs . This team does not have the D built to win games , we need or offense to play high level or at least mistake free .The D has it’s part in the loss mainly by not stopping the run , we can’t let this backs run free . Let’s be honest , these jaguars are not the same than last year , their running game sputtered before sunday , i don’t think they’ll be in the playoffs this year so our D really need to focused on stopping the run , remember 05 !!!We were a FORCE against the run and whith an average team , we went to the AFC championship so SOP THE RUN AN DON4T TURN THE BALL OVER BS !!!!!!
Our safeties are just garbage…I can’t believe the defense is thisbad.
Gotta love the coaching decision to keep Bly and let Foxworth go!! No pass rush – Gerrard had all day.
Horrible call against us !!! I’m sure ESPN won’t give this any extra attention!!
yea our defense does need to step up, but our offense really shouldve performed better. besides pittman n our o-line’s pass protection, im pretty disappointed with how our offense performed. cutler is good, but everyones right by saying he does need to stop forcing to b marsh all the time. but maybe he’ll spread it around more when royal gets back in the game.
one thing i do love is how we matched the hard-hitting jags physically, shoot we might’ve even outdone them. i love nate’s hit on fred taylor, forcing the fumble AND puttin him out of the game for a lil awhile. bring it again vs NE broncos!
all you people who have never even worn a jock need to get off the computer and learn the game. The O did move the ball and were actually quite effective the SECOND week in a row agains t a stellar defense. The problem this week was turnovers. Bmarsh in the red zone, Cutler while driving just too many turnovers. Secondly, every scheme has holes and you poster idiots are always “suggesting” some crap and then when the crap you suggest doesn’t work you blame the coaches. I read these post just about every day. First people were crying for a 3-4 now we play it and people say “we can’t play it, play a 4-6″ Who in the NFL plays a 4-6? Are you playing Madden or real football. The defense is shabby because we have yet to generate a decent rush. It all starts up front. The times we got burnt for big plays, the blitzes you all were asking for. Example the quarterback draw that got the REAL game sealing first down. We blitzed and MOJO picked up DJ and well FIRST DOWN. we did blitz effectively at times, but a big blitz leads to big plays. like when we insist on sending the corners on a blitz. Anyway, the whole pointof this is, be a fan, say we have a problem, but support a 4-2 team to the teeth like I do or shut up and be a Raider fan.
To all of you who keep bashing Culter for only throwing to Marshall…he didn’t have much of a choice. Stokely left the game in the first half with and injury, royal and sheffler were already out and Jackson dropped at least 75% of the passes thrown to him. I’m not saying Jay played well. There were plenty of throws he never should have made. But stop bashing him for throwing to the only receiver out there that can consistantly catch the ball. And we can run Pittman every play. He’d be worn out by the second half. We didnt’ play well as everyone would have liked yesterday. But we are still one up on the Chargers. So we’re still in a decent position.
And MJD doing the mile high salute was disrespectful. That just shows poor character.
va broncoguy i agree with you . we are 4-2 and lets get healthy go broncos.
The problems this week were injuries on offense and the fact that the defense still SUCKS! I’m confident that our offense will be back to normal next week. As for the defense ….. it’s the same thing every week! Where is the pass rush! We cant cover anybody (including 3rd string TEs like Estrandia) let alone talented WRs. We cant stop the run EVER, no matter who runs the ball! It is so dissapointing to see this every week. But hopefully we bounce back cause we need some wins with the chargers coming on strong.
Whats 6een killing us is TURNOVERS! in our 2 losses we have 7 turnovers com6ined your not going to 6eat any6ody i dont care who you play with those num6ers, 6ut im very optimistic even though we had 3 turnovers on in sundays game we had a chance to win that 6all game we should 6e 6-0 6ut trunovers have killed us and for those that hate on the defense, yeah we have alot of pro6lems on that side of the 6all 6ut theyve howed improvement no matter what the stats say we only gave up 13 to tampa and 24 to jacksonville which are 2 quality teams in the NFL. we need to stop turning over the 6all and i think well do that next monday against new england. 6roncos 5-2 at the 6ye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been watching the Broncos since 1974.
1. Cutler has no heart.
2. Worst Defense I have ever seen.
