well another torturous end of the season for the broncos fans. this is getting to be really annoying. how on earth does a team play like we did at 6-0 and then fall apart into the 2-8 embarassment of a team we are? it seems like something outta the twilight zone. no team this bad could’ve started 6-0. the only thing i can think of is mcdaniels has a limited range, for lack of a better word. what he does works really well but as soon as teams figure that out, he’s got nothin else. no plan B. no great adjustments. he had what he had and then…. nothing. and that scares the bejezus outta me because next year could be the same way. or worse. the draft is important and we for some reason traded this years 1st round pick for a second round pick (of a 7th round talent) last year. that confused me until mcdaniels released kern and brought in berger and i realized then he is slightly retarted sometimes. like not playing hillis. and many other things he has done. we will live or die by his totalitarian rule and i just hope his good decisions start to outnumber his bad ones. well then again his good ones will have to double his bad ones because his bad ones can be ASTRONOMICALLY bad. but i’m definately not one to jump ship. ever. i will be cheering for the broncos until the day i die no matter how bad it gets. i will throw my broncos stuff around though and talk like i cant stand em when theyre playing like crap but i’m behind em forever. so here we go again-lets go get em next year broncos!!! super bowl 2010.

TRB, from my over 35 years experience, I can’t remember the last time that we backed into the playoffs, and this year proves it one more time, the two teams that held their destiny with a win, Baltimore and the Jets, both got in. They are not enough prayers in the world to make a difference to make it into the NFL playoffs, IMO.

  4. atwaters da man says:

The reason I bring up Shanahan is…
    A) because he has a 20 million dollar home in Denver built to have the entire team over for film study
    B) Because MCD was brought in to win. period. 500 is not a improvement and with all the talk about accountability he needs to be held accountable first.
    C) I think he wants to come back
    D) I think Mr. B wants him back
    E) Even though it took him 11 years to prefect the Draft…he has. Clady, Royal, Jack Williams, Ryan Torian, Hillis, Barret, Doom, Marshall, DJ, RYAN HARRIS and yes Cutler.

I would like for both MCD and Shanahan to wear Orange and Blue somehow. I think they have both learned allot from each other without ever being in the same room. If they where in the same room with Mike Nolan…wow!

Most likely will not happen but all you can do is ask.

I wish all of broncos country a great new decade!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

i for one think bmarsh will be gone. and it wont entirely hurt my feelings. we would be in good shape if we give st. louis bmarsh and our 1st round pick for the 1st pick and get ndamukong suh. and then talk the lions outta the 2nd pick and get eric berry.

  6. Evil14u says:

baylinorcrush, I agree with you, I said at the beggining of training camp that we be 5-11, but no better than 7-9..Well, thanks to the lucky catch at the end of the Bengals game, or I’d be right on! And don’t forget, if BMarsh doesn’t make that great catch against Dallas, we are 6-10, so I was really close. What everyone failed to see is that MacD is NOT Belicek!!!!!!!! He tried to make us the Patriots, look at all the guys he brought with him and that weren’t that great, other than today, gaffney didn’t matter! He wanted to get rid of BMarsh and TShef at teh beginning, if you all didn’t remember?? The hopefuls that he brought on the D-line sucked when it counted,,,he should have brought Seymour if he really had any sense as a coach! Then he wastes a #1 draft on A-Smith, what did he do for this team? He had Maulauga there and takes A-Smith and ReyM is kicking ass in Cincy, and they are in the Playoffs and division champs! He bench B-Hamilton for another Patriot knockoff and oud O-line suffered…I like Dawkins, but Sharper was also available, and who was or is more productive??? This coach is a joke, should have pulled Orton a long tine ago and went with Brandstater, who can throw more than 20 yds, and SIMS!!! come on, that guy sucks worse than the backup we had last year, and I hated Ramsey! I have no choice but to give this regime more time, cause we are stuck with them, cause ya know Bowlen isn’t pulling the plug just yet, not after firing Shany and saying he got the bast coach out there! But if we get rid of teh BEST player, I don’t care what anyone has to say, but BMarsh is the best we have on this team, we just need to get more quality on D and a new QB!!!! I will head to work tomorrow and take the razzing of how much my Broncos SUCK!!!!!!! But we take the good and bad years as a fan….If you read this, Mac D,,,DO NOT TRADE/CUT Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. baylinorcrush says:

The following is something I wrote about McD after the latest Marshall incident, but for some reason it didn’t post, so here we go again, it still has plenty of meaning:

For anyone who follows this blog, you know I have voiced my discontent of McD’s action on and off the field many times, sometimes very strongly, so the way he handled this Marshall issue is nothing new to me, it is almost to be expected from him. His major issue as a HC is his immaturity first and foremost, everything else derives from that, his arrogance, his doghouse, his sly smile, his stubborness, etc… The funny part about all that is that he spent countless press conferences explaining to who cared to listen why his age, or lack of, had absolutely nothing to do with the job of HC. That should of been our first clue, anyone who defends his age so passionately obviously has some deeper issues with it, you don’t fight something unless there is a truth to it, if it was not an issue he would of just brushed it off, next question type of thing. So here we are with our coach who has a brilliant career ahead of him if he chooses to grow up, the question is will he grow up fast enough to be our HC very long? Until that gets answered, we will have many more mishandling of team matters with the press, stubborn play calling on the field that gets us nowhere, keeping star players in his doghouse just because he can and plenty of sly smiles to go around at his press conferences.

After all that you would think I’d be ready to ship him out of town, well not quite yet, I believe that all young men deserve more than a couple shots at growing out of their immaturity, and I will give him two more years to do just that, just because if he ever does grow up and puts all his blinding shortcomings behind him, with his knowledge of the game, he could become the elite HC we are all asking for. Just think about it, all you young guys out here who are asking for his head, aren’t you glad day after day you are given chances to attone for the stupid mistakes that you do in the name of immaturity? The day we give up on youth and it’s immaturities, we might as well pack it in, today’s immature youths are tomorrow’s leaders.

  8. bronco-blaze says:

Guys…I honestly believe its the contradicty forces of mcdaniels system and Kyle orton. I love kyle orton, and at first i was saying i would like to have him back next year…Im still sticking by that . AT THIS TIME. However i just feel kyle orton doesnt have what it takes to fit the “josh scheme” Which makes the game plan altered and different. Today was the second time matt cassle destroyed us, but most importantly the first time in history the broncos, at home, have given up so many rush yards. THAT IS PATHETIC considering we have LT in our division, and we all thought when him and sproles ran over us it was bad. Not only did we whoop the crap out of 3 of our division opponits at their homes ,but we let each one of them come into our home and beat us. THAT IS UN EXCUSABLE and no need. I believe it was a mental choke that cost us this season, and a lack of will to win from some of the players. I commend KYLE ORTON and jabar gafney and some of the other players because you could tell they were out there to win. I dont blame kyle for 2 of those ints. the first 1 was just sutpid and a bad throw, but the second one was just a great fantastic play, and the third was a desperation throw.

What i wanted to see at the end of the game is the players not giving up and hustling. The defense seeemd to crumble, but i saw A FEW players really trying to finish the game. Same with offenseiv players wich is great.

  9. Captain Kirk says:

We had our ups and downs and find ourselves in the same place last season. No forward, no backward, so everyone can say, well are we better off with McD or should Bowlen kept Shanahan till the end of his contract? Only the crazy eight ball knows for sure. But it is indeed very concerning regardless for the fans that thought we would have a better season. However, judging by posts on these boards, not many of you thought we would even win 6 games so really!!

For the owners of this website or the Denver Broncos, one request please. Can we get the press micked up so we can hear their questions in the press conferences?

Thanks and here’s hoping for a much better next season.

  10. casinoroyal19 says:

alright atwaters, i get it that you like shannahan, but that thing you said about perfecting the draft, umm i dont even think Torrain is on a team, Barret will be a ST player his whole career, and Jack Williams was cut for a reason. im just sayin that you have three players who are really not good in the same phrase as Clady, Royal, Doom,, and BMarsh. doesnt really make sense to me.

  11. baylinorcrush says:

You guys out here now know why I was more worried about Jamaal Charles than I was about missing Marshall and Scheff as I mentioned here a few times this week. Against division foes at home we allowed 203 yards on the ground against SD, 241 against Oakland and top it off with 317 today. That is just mind boggling. Anyone who thinks that we need to draft anything but a brand new D line is out of their mind. And that’s not all, we also can’t run the ball hardly at all, our O line needs help so does our running game, we are in a heap of trouble if you ask me, we can’t run and we can’t stop the run. yet we are expected to compete in the NFL, good luck.

  12. No. 83 says:

    I got it, I got it…..

We pull a Mike Ditka in this year’s draft, well sell the farm and all of our draft picks to trade up to spots #1 and #2 and…..

Draft Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska…. DUH!

And draft Ryan Mallett the monstrosity of a QB out of Arkansas, after we convince him to drop out of school and go pro… lol.

Hey, it’s worked out well for Mark Dirty Sanchez…. not so much for Sam Bradford.

  13. ArmChairCoach says:

    We suck….

  14. baylinorcrush says:

To reinforce my point about our inability to run the ball against division foes at home, here is what we got:

    Against SD, 105 yards
    Against Oakland, 80 yards
    Against KC, 84 yards

A grand total of 269 yards while those three teams ran a total of 761 yards against us!!! Yes, you read that right, 761 yards allowed on the ground in three home games against division opponents. How can anyone in their right mind expect us to win anything with that????
BTW, I believe that winning three divisional games on the road and losing all three at home is a first in Bronco history, for those who care.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

    Correction, we sucked… we’re done.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

761 yards to 269 yards, that’s nearly 500 more yards we allowed, I just can’t get over it….

  17. baylinorcrush says:

In three games, on the ground…

  18. TheRoyalBeast says:

    Baylin -

Ill give you that Baylin…I also feared Charles but thought we would step up and since he had fumble problems we would get turnovers….The kid is something special….Its not always the line…as you can see because LJ couldnt find wholes but Charles can. The kid reminds me soo much of Chris Johnson.

I also agree with your statements about McD…sentiments i share…that he has the potential to be great once he matures and carves out his own Identity. The thing about it to is that…we dont get payed millions for our stupid mistakes…and most young people try to keep their stupid mistakes out of their proffession of choice. And for a guy that believe in “Team Players” i sometimes feel he puts himself above the team. He forces a system that might not be right for Orton, forces a system not right for current Oline and RBs. He won’t be getting fired i agree and he will get better in time, if given it, but the team will suffer alot in the interim. Maybe we should also look at our new offensive coordinator Mike McCoy more for the stagnant offense….

As far as Marshall goes…I pray he is a life tiem Bronco. We all know this.

As far as the draft goes…you are right…we need DL and OL…not unless we can find some good free agents we gotta draft them. Especially NT. But it hurts cuz I kinda wanted a ILB and Colt McCoy. But we have priorities….

side note: I think Ayers will be much better next year and will be starting.

    NO. 83

Nolan for coach?!?!? NO. He sucked as a head coach and as a head coach u don’t get to be too involved in one thing and his passion is defense so lets live him there.

  19. Ruc says:

Ok…I have nothing against Bay bcuz he is expressing his opinion but I come up here ALOT and it’s as if ALOT (Not all) of these people look for what he says so they can agree instead of observing things for themselves (like he does)…..Some people literally say something and then say “What do you think Bay?” instead of believing that they have a mind powerful enough to think for themselves (No offense lol)…..

Bay you are VERY wise when it comes to football knowledge and it’s not your fault but this time I don’t agree with you.

From my observation of the situation this is what I got and stated on the “Denver Post” (I visit both sites and read very often but rarely comment).

I seriously CANNOT be the ONLY person who feels that Brandon Marshall was faking his “injury”. Everybody was calling @ the coache’s head for benching him but may I remind u all that he benched him AFTER Brandon Marshall told him and the organization personally that he can’t play. I completely agree with McD. Call me what you want but mama didn’t raise a fool. I’m very observant of things and if anybody has alot of people drinking his Kool-Aid it’s B-Marsh right now. Don’t get me wrong. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BRANDON MARSHALL’S TALENT BUT HIS CHARACTER….I HATE! He fell on the 1st play of the Tuesday practice and instantly said he won’t be able to play because he is “injured” too seriously. His MRI came in showing NO injuries. That’s when he claimed he can’t play because it was “SPRAINED” NOT that he’s gonna wait it out and try his hardest to play on Sunday. NEVER did he say that….So then he got benched. Just check out what I’m sure McD and the rest of the organization is looking @ because McD CAN’T just bench him without it being agreed upon by Bowlen and the rest of the staff. He was acting like a child in the offseason over a new contract. Things got out of hand and he had to play nice guy and win the fans and TEAMS (not team) back in order to get a good contract cause if he didn’t check hisself he wouldn’t be in line for the check he deserved @ the time. He ironically got hurt AFTER he got his record, 100+ receptions, and got a Pro Bowl nod (which is enough to get chased by every team in need of a no.1 reciever and paid highly). He INSTANTLY counted himself out after the “fall” and said he can’t play on his hamstring. MRIs came out negative so he claimed a sprain and still said he CAN NOT PLAY in the last game of the season with the rest of the TEAM with the PLAYOFFS ON THE LINE. Excuse me if I’m wrong but I guarantee you Polomolu, Wes Welker, and Ocho would all trade him for his “sprain” right now to help their teams try to reach the Super Bowl. Look @ Welker when he got hurt! His tears on the sidelines spoke words! It kills him that he won’t be able to help his team when they need him. Troy has been trying for the last 3 weeks and even tho evry time he failed to recover he still never quit. I guaratee you Chad feels a LOAD pain but has not counted himself out @ all and will try to be there for his team. Marshall didn’t try not ONE MINUTE. He INSTANTLY QUIT….This Organiztion is an organization that stuck with him through waaay more than enough for him to try his hardest. The beloved D.Will is gone over an incident involving him. He has two strikes with the NFL for striking his gf and got suspended over those incidents. He played around and fell through a television set and LIED about how it happened. Yet this organiztion stuck with him. Bowlen stuck with him. It is obviousby now that he is all about himself and doesn’t care who has done what for him. Hell Royal was game-time these past 2 weeks. Never did he say I’m not playing. He said we’ll see. He wanted to be here for this team to help win these games. People please just sit back and observe. he is truly a cancer. We do not need him. Gaffney has showed up BIG TIME all season and especially these last two weeks and so has Lloyd. I say we franchise Marshall and trade him for something nice. Maybe a good reciever AND swap picks with 1 of these teams that would be dumb enough to do it. Hell trade him to the Skins because I believe they are going to keep Campbell. He’s not as bad as he seems (I’d seriously take him). Then we should get a QB or DT (Even though we might be able to get some nice ones in free agency since we’ll be pretty loaded with cash). I got high hopes for next season and faith in this organization. We don’t need any “SELF” players in our road to success. Not just McD…This organization knows what they are doing. People keep saying our best picks are Shanny’s picks BUT don’t forget that our VP and others still in the organiztion played a heavy role in selecting those players just like our last draft class. We are loaded @ reciever. I don’t think we have anything to worry aout and our rookies have an amazing set of veterans to learn from. People keep talking about Phonsy being picked up but I really think he will benefit us in th long haul.Ayers…Not sure yet…Moreno…Yes. He’s gonna continue to blossom in the zone running scheme because that’s the schemem he belongs in. We need a bruiser back. I’d take a few guys in Free Agency this year also. We’re definitely picking up a good DE in Free Agency watch my word…I have faith in this team because TEAM PLAYERS ho down TOGETHER and learn how to GET UP from that. Like them or not…Look @ Dallas, San Diego, Baltimore, and The Saints. They all went down toghether and got back up toghether. They learned TOGHETHER. Self players don’t know how to do that so thanks B-Marsh for your amazing play but no thanks. We CAN do it without you and you and any1 elssewho doesn’t believe that will see…..Go Broncos…..FAN-4-LIFE….

  20. Ruc says:

I knw some of my words are misspelled and jumbled up but it’s bcuz my laptop was messing up and I definitely wasn’t typin dat ova lol. That’s how I feel though. I feel that we don’t need Marshall. Gaffney really showed up these last two games. He outdone Marshall last week and had more yards recieving in yesterday’s game that Marshall (or any other WR) ever had in any game (including the 21 reception one) so the talent is there. I also truly like wat I’ve seen from Lloyd in these last two games. I say we franchise and trade Marshall 4 another WR and swap picks. That way Royal can play slot with Stokely @ times also (WOW). There’s so much we can do. I feel like this organization is headed in a good direction instead of downwards. McD has some learning and growing up to do but ALOT of the things he’s done I applaud because he’s making the team play as A TEAM and won’t except less. I respect that and that’s the God honest truth. All Marshall did was give NFL Network ammo for the offseason because everyone knows they don’t like McD. If it were Rex Ryan benching one of his players because they aren’t giving their all they’d be applauding him and sayin “Hey that’s just how Rex does things” but since McD’s a “kid” it’s a different story. The truth always shows itself though so one day we will all see how this all came about and where this organization is going….
    P.S….GO BRONCOS!

And I meant any other Bronco WR ever had in any game…Sorry bout dat…

There are some really stupid posts on here. Face it Bronco Nation this team is re-building. We are a mediocre team and guess what?? Shanahan isn’t coming back… Mike Nolan is not a good Head Coach. He should stay right where he is. We need to give JMAC some time to get his guys in there and see what they can do. As far as BMARSH is concerned if we get a first and a third for him I am fine with it. Let him go and Sheffler should have been benched for his comments about the team in the locker room. Give JMAC a chance he blew up the team and we still went 500 wait until we get his guys in there…. Watch out. And please let Shanny go football has passed him by.

  23. xxgracegunnerxx says:

well we showed the football world what kind of fans we have…fair weather…leave early…show no support for your team fans…what killed me more than what was on the score board was to see empty seats with our team still fighting…that breed of fan doesnt deserve a playoff team…i saw a lot of bright spots this year and am soo pumped for the coming years with mcd, marsh, AND orton..good years are coming…so show some support!!

Ruc, I appreciate the lenghty post addressed to me, thanks, I guess? LOL. Anyway, you must of thought of somebody else, because this is what I said yesterday about the McD/Marshall incident:

    baylinorcrush says:

denwu, there seems to be a lot of confusion about this Marshall/McD thing, everyone one needs to be clear on it:

Marshall decided that he couldn’t go on Sunday. That was of his own doing even so the medical staff saw nothing to that effect.

In response to Marshall not wanting to go Sunday, McD deactivated him so he could have a replacement for him out there, which, put into that situation, any coach would do.

That being said, McD handled the whole thing horribly when addressing the press, so all this irritation about the coach is totally understandable as far as how he handled the matter, totally uncalled for as far as just saying he benched our best player.

Talking like some of you guys do about the matter does not make you any better than the media you really hate to start with. It is just sensationalism to get everyone riled up so they get viewership and I for one will not partake. As Bronco fans you are expected to know better than falling into these media traps, we shall know better and think for ourselves. No disrespect intended to anyone.

  26. brian_schneider says:

It has been a tough season on all of Bronco Country. I think by blood pressure is about 2 million or something like that. LOL!

I really hope McD, staff, and the team have learned some things from this season. You not only have to finish the 4 QTR strong, you need to finish the season strong. We finished the season about as strong as cooked noodle. Everyone is to blame some should get more than others and they probably will. I stopped watching after Orton’s INT but I checked the end score and that said it all. I’m pretty sure Elways left yesterday’s game early.

Some serious things HAVE to be addressed. Some think we are good in some spots…NO. Every single phase of the game needs to be examined. I could be on here all day explaining but we all know what HAS to be done. As far as McD, this is your future this next season. If you want anyone to take you serious as a HC you need to start acting like one. If you continue to call the same plays and have them fail everytime, you won’t be a HC for long. Even a monkey knows when to stop doing something that doesn’t work. This is it for you this next season if you fail again you will not be a HC in this league again. Everyone knows your playcalling, everyone knows your style, does some different stuff, do anything different.

  27. baylinorcrush says:

Maybe, you were refering to this other post I made earlier:

I stand by this post, when I said keeping star players in his doghouse I was refering mainly to Hillis, and about the Marshall thing, he was right to deactivate him, but he was wrong to wash the laundry in front of the press. Internal matters have to be handled internally, it’s the manly thing to do. In over twenty years of running my own business, I’ve learned that rule #1 with your employees is to reprimand them closed door, one on one, never in front of other employees, much less in front of the media, as was the case here. That was totally uncalled for, regardless of the message McD wanted to send, it was a very immature move that only a young coach would make. The sad part to me is I realize he took that route because he felt he simply couldn’t carry enough weight with the problem player one on one. That doesn’t bode well for the future, he has to learn to lead, he is not a leader now. And we now all know that. The team did not back McD 100% on the field yesterday, many players did not give their all as I had hoped, which tells me they sided with Marsh and Scheff in the saga. That’s how it is, let’s hope McD finds the necessary wisdom in the off-season to elevate his coaching to not only grasp the x and o’s, but more importantly to become the respected leader that he must be in the players mind if we want to have a shot at becoming great again. Looooong way to go for this young coach, hopefully he gets the two more years I think he should get from Mr. Bowlen. Not a sure thing if there is not a marked improvement next year. Of course, all this is just my opinion.

  28. nw3030 says:

Okay i read all the post and I never ever blog so this will be the first time so take it easy on me.

While i agree with many of you on your points i have to say im extremely disappointed with this team. like you said bay going 0-3 against the divison at home is terrible. The San diego game was absoulety a must win and we fell apart. In regards to Bmarsh, my entire family is bronco fans and all year watching the games i was screaming pay the man. so it came to a shock when i turned on him yesterday and told my fam that the broncs should just let him go and get that 1st and 3rd round pick( that saying another team signs him to a offer sheet.) While Brandon is an extreme talent he is not irreplaceable! And for some reason or another he wants to go somewhere else. so i say let him go. McD has made some bone headed calls this year but this is just his first year being a head coach. give him a little bit longer guys and then call for his head. this offseason will be very exciting. without a CBA in place it will be interesting to see how McD and bowlen spend that money. Build for the future or win right now. me personally hope for a little of both. like i said im very disappointed with this years team but its not all gloom and doom guys.

PS.. lets not hear none of that great team and turnaround and superbowl blah blah blah from this blog untill WE CLINCH A PLAYOFFBERTH!!!!! because as the last 4 yrs have shown us……….6-2 at the half way point dont mean nothin!!!

  30. vabroncoguy says:

Are people serious, I really want to reply to Ruc, do you at all know the game of football. Have you ever played the game. Do you in any way know about human beings. Let’s get one thing straight about this team. IT IS NOT GOOD. Position for position across the NFL, we are not as talented as most teams and that is mostly due to the stubborness and arrogance of McDaniels. He is coaching this team like a high school team. This is the NFL, all that “we play as a team” crap is irrelevant if you do not have the players. He hurt this team at EVERY position. EVERY. There were no upgrades, there is no firm foundation for the future. We do not have a single stud on this team (outside of Marshall who I am almost certain may not be part of this team for long.) Clady went from giving up 1 sack his rookie year, to giving up multiple sacks and getting holding penalties all over the place. Popular to contrary belief, Goodman was actually our best secondary player. Dawkins was marginally effective, and gained Pro-Bowl honors because of hi pedigree, as did Champ. We went from a top-flight, like him or not QB, to a guy who CANNOT make a play, CANNOT spread the field vertically, and CANNOT make the players around him better. Gaffney’s career game came against a pourous defense, that got absolutely no pass rush and played zone the entire game. All the yards he got were between the twenties, which are for the most part useless. McDaniels, blew that game, as he did so many others, in an attempt to show that the team doesn’t need Marshall. Why else would he come out throwing against a team that had not stopped the run all year. A team we decimated on the ground the last time. Why, because he wanted to fool everyone into thinking he had made the right decision in benching the two best receivers he had. Don’t talk to me about Royal and Stokley, they are Shanny’s guys, thus they were not involved this year. We are not “stacked” at any position. We cannot even consistently put the same kick returner back. What team uses a fullback as their primary kick returner? I said throughout the beginning of the year that this was the luckiest team in football the first six weeks. Now the luck is over and when it came down to actually playing fotball, we did not cut it. Talk all ou wish about the Raiders and Chiefs being bad teams, but over the last ten games BOTH of them out played the Broncos. Our secondary is old and ther is not a single guy there ready to step up. Phonzy Smith, a wasted first round pick for a guy that could not even crack the TOP FOUR!!!! A guy who was not even better than a Ty Law sitting at home eating ice cream. Robert Ayers a firt round special teamer. Noskills Moreno, a first roud third down back. When Orakpo was SITTING THERE. Met all the teams needs. You skip him to pick up a back that did not average 62.5 a game. We watched Jamal Charles eat us up for 259 and go over 1,000 in only eight games. Are you serious!!!! You look at this team as promising. Champ a year older, Dawkins a year older, we still have no D-Line. NO D Line. It all starts there. They didn’t get bad at the end of the year, they were ALWAYS bad. Arrrggghhh, there is a such thing as being fairweather, but, honestly, the fans were not there all year. The walkout at the end, was a final showing, by the diehard fans, that they are tired of dying. We want to live. Not for the future, but for now. They expect and deserve more. That team that was on the field Sunday was not “fighting” they were playing it out. Win one game. over two “subpar” teams AT HOME!!! You say the future is bright, I say it is as soon as McD is gone. As soon as he stops trying to be Belicheck West (without the rings), he has to get his own identity. If he is to remain coach, he has got to lead this team with class dignity and by golly some actual football sense. If not he needs to lead himself out of town.

  31. gardenstatebroncofan says:

wow go vabroncoguy…..lots of good points also

  32. nw3030 says:

Vabroncoguy, completely agree with you man. We need to win those games against those “subpar teams”. and we can place the blame on McD for some very uninspired performance with lack of preperation and lack of good game planing. But like i said he is still a first year coach and hopefully he can iron those things out. Cuz we as bronco fans cannot handle to much more of his antics.

  33. baylinorcrush says:

Anyhow, I echo brian’s sentiments above about the high blood pressure. LOL. The way I look at it, my ticker survived another Bronco season, my 35th to be exact, and I hardly ever miss a game and never ever walk away from one at any time before the final whistle has blown, that’s just how it is with me, it’s like my drug, I will be in serious whithdrawal for the next 8 months. LOL.

To me this turned out to be a bad season. I said before the season that going 8-8, my pick, would be a successful season for a rebuilding year. I admit I was wrong, I didn’t take into account there are different kinds of 8-8 seasons, this one felt like a 4-12, or 5-11 season at best. Losing the last 4 games and 8 of the last 10 will turn any 8-8 season ugly in a heartbeat. Absolutely dreadful way to end the season, 317 yards allowed on the ground at home against a team that was 3-12 at the time. You just don’t forget about stuff like that, at least I don’t, and like the over 50 point drubbing we took against the Chargers last year in the last game of the season, here we go again, taking an absolutely pathetic loss into a long off-season. As a fan, it’s just brutal. You have to be a hard core fan like I to take this kind of abuse and keep on ticking, remaining a true fan no matter what. Or maybe it is that I am just a plain dumb you know what. LOL. Whatever, I have plenty more I will say here about this year, I could write a book, but that’s it for now.

  34. nw3030 says:

being a bronco fan since birth and going through some really bad years i can with all honesty say that this isnt rock bottom for our beloved broncs. its just a stepping stone in which proves to be a sucessful offseason. heres to being optimistic!

  35. brian_schneider says:

Maybe it was just me but one of the biggest things I noticed after the bye is we didn’t have any intensity. We weren’t exploding off the ball on both sides. Our o-line and d-line were getting pushed back and just being blown away. Everyone just looked like they were moving in slow motion. I don’t care how good or bad your lineman are, when they get blown off the ball you can’t be effective running the ball, stopping the run, or having a good pass rush. The d-line just looks like they aren’t even trying to get a pass rush. What the heck happened to our D? I think the biggest concern has to be the d-line. We need a big guy in there to stuff the run. I think we are one of the smallest (size wise) on the d-line and o-line. Sometimes size is just as good as skill, but having both is great. Our d-line especially is more of a finess line. You can tell our line still isn’t used to McD’s blocking scheme. I can say that zone blocking is way better than whatever scheme McD is using. The think about zone blocking is you take the first guy that comes across your face. In McD’s it looks like they are supposed to block a particular posistion, DE, NT, LB or whatever. So then if they miss a block or have a wrong read there isn’t any place to run. With a zone they pretty much move as one complete line, making for good holes and amazing cutbacks which we’ve seen before. Just my opinion..

Should’ve threaten Berger with his job earlier and maybe he’d of punted better then.

  36. Broncoxxx#24 says:

Man it is really disappointing to see Denver go 8-8 again. Maybe next season guys, just maybe.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

The best part about this season for me:

One of my Bronco buddy I watch every game with at our Bronco bar in Cedar Park (North of Austin) brough me this incredible surprise gift yesterday, an autographed 8×10 pic of Rod Smith! Unreal, and we are just Bronco buddies, never even see eachother in the off-season, incredible that you can develop such bond in the name of the Broncos. Long term, I’ll remember this season more by that act of kindness than by what it was. Thanks again, buddy (if you are here today reading this madness). LOL.

  38. SC_Socnorb says:

I find it ironic that at the beginning of the season when the defense was doing great it was all because of Mike Nolan. Now that they are doing bad it has to do with McD, not Nolan. While I agree that McD has some improvements to do as the head ball coach, he is a rookie. While we don’t know how phonsy or ayers will turn out, anyone judging draft picks after the first year is short sighted.

    Just my thoughts.
    Go broncos

  39. brian_schneider says:

I asked one of my friends who’s a Lions fan how to cope with losing and he said eventually you become desensitized and it doesn’t hurt anymore. He also then said you turn into an alcoholic because you drink when they lose and you drink when they win. LOL!!! Not that I’m going to become an alcoholic but I thought that was pretty funny. He did say though deep done inside it still really hurts losing. Then I cried myself to sleep.

  40. beefdirkus says:

    baylinorcrush:
I also said at the begining of the season I would be very happy with an 8-8 season. I predicted the team to have a losing season (7-9) as this was a rebuilding year, tough schedule and the players learning a new system. But after going 6-0 to start the season, I find myself to be very disappointed in 8-8. The 2 biggest disappointments were losing at home to both Oak and KC when the playoffs were on the line.
I think they really need to get a nose takle or a run stuffer after watching the KC game. Wow, they got totally gashed.
It will be another interesting off season- who will they keep (Orton and B-Mash are free agents), what free agents will they bring in and who will they draft.

  41. broncochick1 says:

I do agree that we should draft Ryan Mallet. I love his potential. Sign Orton for one year and figure out where Brandstater is in his development and make a choice for 2011. Who is the face of our franchise?

  42. beefdirkus says:

Time to look at next year. Here is the home and away opponites for 2010. I would say the schedule looks easier but you never know from year to year. I thought that Oak and KC at home would be easy games this year and look what happened.

Home: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Houston, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Seattle, New York Jets
Away: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Arizona, San Francisco, Baltimore

  43. broncofanlvnm says:

I have to hand it to you vabroncoguy, you really had this team pegged from the beginning. You have always said how lucky this team was and that it wasn’t very good, especially Orton and McD. Even after the 6-0 start you were complaining and after Orton had his best game as a Bronco and only one or two interceptions at the time. You were one of the fans who really saw this coming and aren’t afraid to let everyone else know this, and you took a lot of sh** for it from a lot of people here, myself included. For that I have to respect you. I am one of the fans who always feels like we as true fans need to support our team through thick and thin and they will always have my unwavering support, but I don’t think I can stand for much more of this. I am willing to give this coach another year, but if he can’t improve things by then, I will be calling for his head, along with most everyone else I sure. I mean what the hell happened after the bye week? (It kind of makes you wonder if some of the players weren’t taking something in the beginning of the season.) I think it has to be on the coaches, more than questioning the talent on this team. Game planning and making sure the team is mentally prepared is ultimately the head coaches responsibility. And plain and simple, like we have all said before, it all starts up front and if we don’t fix the problems on the line on both sides of the ball, we are simply going nowhere. That’s all for now.

  44. brian_schneider says:

Alright this is my analogy (you guys are probably sick of these but I have fun with ‘em):

So we had an experienced driver (Shanny) but he was getting a little old and his eye sight was starting to go and started to side swipe some people, scratching the paint and taking off mirrors. We took away his liscense (fire him) along with some of his back seat drivers (staff).
So we bring in a kid (McD) whos daddy (Bilicheat) has been letting him back the car out of the garage and drive on some back roads, but still doesn’t have his liscense. We have a descent car, nothing too flashy but it looks good, and has some dings here and there. We remove all of the old paint (releasings) and put on a new coat (FA signings). We got some new tires (draft) that will hopefully carry us for a lot of miles. We got rid of the old interior (Cutler) and put in different (Orton). We kept the sound system because it was awesome (Bailey, Williams, Dumervil, Marshall, Royal, Hillis). But we did put in a new cd player (Nolan) because 8-tracks are done (Slowik). We were leaking some oil (motivation) so we fixed that with a plug (Dawkins, Hill, Goody). Our front bumper (o-line) is in good shape, our back bumper (d-line) is sagging a bit so we buff it up to make it shinny and use some wire to hold it on for a while.
Now we have a descent car still not too flashy but it looks and runs pretty good still.
McD get is and takes it for a test run and right away there seems to be some troubles, so he keeps takin’ it into the shop for service (offseason, preaseason, practices)
We get most of that fixed and McD gets in again and it purrs like a kitten. He takes her right out onto the highway and wow it flies and runs good (6-0). Then we need some gas so we stop into a rink-a-dink gas station and get some fuel (bye week). Then we get fueled up and take off on the highway again. We must of got some bad gas because it doesn’t run well anymore (losing streak). Instead of taking here on some back roads to fix her (playcalling, personel, and coaching) he keeps her on the highway. Well the speed limit is 65 mph and we’re going 40 mph and other cars (teams) that we sped past earlier are passing us now (SD, OAK, and KC) and giving us the finger and laughing (beating us at home). We keep her on the highway and we’re slowly coming to a creep. Engine is steaming (team moral), we have a flat tire and are driving on the rim (Moreno in short yardage) when we have a full sized spare in the trunk (Hillis), but we don’t have a jack (the guts to make the change), back bumper (d-line) is falling off, and the front bumper (o-line) has some dings (injuries). We pull over and have one more push (KC) to make our trip (playoffs). But McD overinflates the tires (benching Marshall and Scheffler). Now were stranded on the side of the road with the hood up, a blown tire, scratched paint, bumpers banged up, and some torn interior, and we have a kid that doesn’t even know how to check the transmission fluid. Everyone’s laughing (critics and other teams). But low and behold there is a mechanic station close by (offseason). Let’s get her pushed into there and see what we can do with her to get her back into good shape. Hopefully get ready for next season, and hopefully McD can learn a thing or two about how to drive (playcalling, philosophy, game plans, and coaching, oh and when to admit your wrong). We got a lot of junk in the car that needs to be cleaned out because its starting to stink.

  48. jlalum01 says:

    Here’s my theory:

Right after the first loss to the Raves, McD chewed on some guys in a meeting. Whoever those guys were probably didn’t like being chewed on and couldn’t be men about it. So they got upset and started complaining to others. Then there were some on the team that weren’t being accountable and probably said “Hey I played as well as I could …..no 1st year head coach is going to call me out”. Right then I would say about 1/3 of the team quit on the head coach. Now we move on to Week12 vs. NY Giants. Denver’s o-line is getting their tails kicked at the start of the game and due to penalties the o-line is moving the team backwards. So Coach McDaniels walks over and starts ripping the o-line with a few expletives while NFL Network sideline mic is open and cameras are rolling. This probably ticked off some more guys on the team and they quit on the coach. Then you have a WR and TE who think the reason the team has success is all because of their efforts and they get ticked because they’re not getting the ball enough. They complain to others and then wait for the right opportunity to quit on the coach. After about week 14 what do you have? A bunch of selfish overpaid underachievers for a football team who have forgotten that team play gave them a 6-0 start.

So they got their feelings hurt……..big deal. I’ve said it a thousand times only a few guys on this team have heart. I say clean house and start over. Get rid of the malcontents. Most of all, PLEASE MR BOWLEN CALL A MEETING WITH THE TEAM AND AIR THE DIRTY LAUNDRY PRIVATELY. AFTER THE MEETING ANNOUNCE TO THE TEAM THAT JOBS ARE BEING EVALUATED STARTING TODAY. THEN LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT JOSH MCDANIELS IS THE HEAD COACH AND IS UNDER CONTRACT. There the certain things McDaniels can do better. I’m hoping he’s learned some lessons from this years. As for those that quit on their teammates, fans aren’t stupid they can tell a fake from a mile away. Please leave the team and go be a cancer somewhere else. You know who you are.
