Koppen isnt the answer either. (been 6 since 16-0 Pats)
Honestly I wouldnt mind taking the Cards job either. They have a solid D just need to put the offense together. Would be a good place for him if he wanted to build the offense how he wanted.
The Cards need to have a draft where all they take is OL guys lol.
Same with the Bears.
To all those who claimed Brooking wasn’t worth starting…
Denver Broncos: Keith Brooking was the only inside/middle linebacker this season to not miss a tackle. He also had the lowest Yards per Coverage Snap for inside/middle linebackers at 0.45.
Anyways the answer is Jacob Hester. This years Broncos and the 2009 Chargers.
Of those 2009 Chargers their last loss was to us. Eddie Royal had a kickoff and punt return for a TD.
Peyton Manning has been named the AFC player of the week.
Wow. Wouldn’t have guessed Hester.
I still like that we have the 2012 leprechaun of Trindon Holiday who went 16-0 this season.
RH I didnt guess Hester either. Didnt even think of him. Was surprised when I saw the answer.
I still dont see how anyone can say that the Pats D is better than ours. 2nd ranked D to 27th ranked D. Only thing they do better is force turnovers. They have a very opportunistic D but that doesnt make them better imo.
oh crap Alaskan, I just read the IAOFM lard and they said it. crap, should have read that first today lol
Lol RH.
Hey Alaskan, Coach Fox has only gone to the SB one time as a HC. Who was his DC that year?
It wasnt JDR I know that. He left to coach the Jags the offseason before. I cant think of who it actually was though.
Hadnt followed Vontaze but i see he has been a beast … his tape spoke volumes. Really wanted him. I think he went undrafted due to bad combine and was a bit of a head case … but the man has a nose for the ball. I think he was MLB in college but OLB in NFL … guess he wasn’t smart enough to be the field general which would stand with some things i have heard about him.
Oh, your right again. I thought it was JDR. JDR built the defense the year before then took off in 2003.
No more trivia today for me. I’m not doing it right.
Lol RH. I used to think it was JDR but someone on here actually set me straight a while back about it. I know Mike McCoy was on his staff that year but not sure as what.
Technically Hester wasn’t on the team for the entire 11 game win streak…
McCoy was just an offensive assistant.
No he wasnt for the full 11. But he is still part of the Broncos who have a 11 game win streak. Question was who was part of the two teams who did it. Nothing said about being part of the team for every game.
I could see McCoy wanting the Bears HC position. I know the Bears typically have been known for their defense, but Cutler, Marshall, and Forte, a good core of offenseive weapons.
P. Manning in ’12 became only QB in NFL history with at least 400 completions, 4500 yds & 35 TDs while throwing 11 or fewer INTs.
Yeah TRB. Word out of college was that his teammates had to explain the play calls to him and tell him where to line up. He was always an athlete and a great physical specimen but in the NFL, not having the plays and knowledge will ruin you.
Not sure if he picked up his studying or if teammates are still helping him along but either way it’s working.
I understand teams being afraid, that is a big risk.
Honestly I think the Bears need to draft Eifert. They need a TE bad. Also need OL help bad too.
Sounds like laziness to me. Not knowing the playcalls, where to line up, assignments and things like that is just laziness and not wanting to put in the time it takes to learn those things. IMO.
Looks like Andy Reid will interview with KC, before AZ later this week. I personally hope Reid stays out of the AFC West..
I hope so as well OT. Big thing about AZ that can hurt or help Reid is Kolb.
It could be just that Brian, which is the optimistic outlook.
The other possibility is that he is just really dumb.
So at best he is lazy, at worst he is retarded. As an NFL team, do you really want to take that risk.
With hindsight, I think we can say it was more likely laziness then stupidity and someone found a way to motivate him.
Lazy sounds right. Maybe he just wasnt willing to learn until he was being payed … who knows for this kids … but most likely his teammates are helping him out and the rest he is just getting by on based on his good instincts. I woulda taken the risk on him … he had first round potential …. he fell off heavy and went undrafted … at undrafted .. I would risk it lol. Just me tho.
I could see Reid in AZ, but man that’s a tough division. Funny how quickly things change, as that used to be the worst division in football not too long ago..
Did anyone read about the idea of Adam Gase being promoted to OC, if we lose McCoy? I don’t know much about Gase, and while I like the idea considering we would be able to hold on to him for a long time, my reservations would be Fox is more a defensive minded coach, not sure if Gase is ready to assume such a role. I know we have Peyton, but you need an OC, especially when looking at the future.
Another idea would Studesville, or my personal pipe dream – the Texans get blown out by Cincy at home and fire Kubiak…. Lol
Lol OT some talk of Tom Moore (Cat wants that to happen) but most talk is Gase and Studesville
Best spot for any offensive minded coach is the Bears is my opinion.
I can definitely see reid in Ariz … Back with kolb and on a team with a pretty solid D …. he will have to fix that OLINE tho, same issue that plagued philly. He has a decent QB and an allstar receiver. A fleet of above average RBs tho they tend to get hurt alot. His first order of business tho defintely should be Oline.
McCoy would strike gold as Bears HC. Strong offensive corp as has been mentioned. D is good and always have been just keep DC for consistency.
I hear Nolan might be back in the HC mix … i think he should stick to DC … but who knows, Bears might give him a look as well. Just nobody touch our JDR. We need to do what the falcons did with Dirk Koetter the OC … they have a Defensive HC and finally found a OC that works … after changing yearly. They need the consistency. Like we do at DC … pay the man. Him and Fox work well together, and if fox is gone after a few years with us… maybe del rio can take over or something.
All wishful thinking tho. Im fine with gase as OC … like has been said … we have manning. As soon as manning goes, either gase better have learned alot with those training wheels called manning…. or get a new guy lol
TRB
Don’t forget the Rams have two more 1st rounders coming their way from the RGIII trade. Fisher already has that team playing hard, don’t sleep on the Rams. If Reid goes to AZ, and turns things around, that division could be brutal..
OT
Studes is another potential … he has been a HC for a short period too … time for him to finally upgrade from RB coach but it will probably go to gase … wasn’t he our WR coach before becoming our QB coach or something? He is moving up in the world lol.
And my pip dream would be getting Rick Dennison back as OC lol
TRB
its funny how nfc west became so strong … kind of like nfc north did overnight. And now AFC west more or less is trash with the exception of us. Chiefs suck, raiders suck, chargers rebuilding…. Yikes.
TRB
Ray Lewis announced he will retired after this season.
Sorry OT, I like Kubiak but you can’t have him and Manning. They run offenses that are polar opposites.
TRB – I would feel bad for Studesville, if he got passed over, in favor of the younger, less experienced Gase.. The good news is we seem to have options, and who in their right kind wouldn’t want to be OC for this team? We also don’t know yet if McCoy will be hired, or of he will accept the offer.
Our division is in shambles at the moment, but we can’t get too comfortable, as things change quickly in the NFL. The Chargers are the closest IMO, and I hope they don’t get a top tier coach to turn it around. The Cheifs have talent, just need a QB, and luckily for us this draft class is very light on QB’s. The Raiders are still the Raiders… Lol
If only bdawk could have lasted one more year … he migh thave seen his dreams realized.
Ryan Clady isnt at practice today.
RH – I doubt the Texans are dumb enough to let Kubiak go, so it’s a moot point.
I think I would prefer to hire someone from within. The more I think about it, the more I like the Studesville idea. A Peyton Manning passing game, with an even heavier dose of the run game?? Sign me up!
More effective or efficient run game maybe but not a larger dose.
Remember that Manning’s offense runs the ball based on box counts, down and distance and defensive alignment or personnel package. Run plays are called based on what a defense dictates.
On the other hand, a guy like Studes may change the run playbook. He will still have to use the prominent 11 or 12 personnel that Manning uses but the Xs and Os can be changed.
In essence, number or runs called is based on the defense but the running scheme can be changed by a guy like Studes.
Plus, when you have Manning, why would you take the ball out of his hands. Also, yards per pass > then yards per run.
Sorry, not trying to be rude.
I think the drum about the run game gets hammered so often that people think you need to run the ball or this and that. It isn’t so much about running more it’s about being effective when you do run. In a Manning offense you usually have a decent yards per carry cause he calls the run when the defense gives you a pass defense look. This is why Manning can run a fairly simple offense and be effective. He constantly makes the defense wrong.
