The Broncos came away with a win, taking down the Buccaneers 16-13 and moving to 4-1 in the process.
But a few Broncos were injured in the hard-fought win, including two of the team’s top pass catchers.
Eddie Royal went down during a punt return, and he did not return to the game. He went into the locker room and did not return, suffering a sprained ankle.
Tony Scheffler also left the game with an injury on the final drive of the game. He suffered a strained left groin.
Ebenezer Ekuban and Selvin Young both suffered left groin strains as well.
Head Coach Mike Shanahan will give another update during his press conference tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. MDT.

Three left groin injuries? That is weird. Just weird. I hope nobody is seriously hurt!
STREEEEEETCH! lol
Need these guys back before next week’s game Vs. the Jags.
Why in the world is Royal still returning punts when we have Glenn Martinez back?!?! There’s no need for Royal to even think about a punt return.
that is shanny call..he is the one that tells them to punt return..
You are right, if we have martinez back then royal punt returns should be on a limited basis only.
Because Royal gives us the best returns. Have you been watching our punt returns these past few years? We had one of the worst. Royal is a threat every time like D. Hester. Also why is our kickoff returns so bad? Our special teams coach has to go or change this methods. Why are our returner run straight down the field every time. You watch guys like hester, they always change directions. Thats why we have one of the worst field positions after a kickoff. Look a D. Hixon for the Giants. Its not the players but the special teams coach.
I agree that E Royal gives us the best chance, not to mention I don’t trust Martinez to hold onto the ball based on past evidence.

I dont know why I feel the same way, but he played very well on Sunday. He had a great first down catch on a high ball from Jay. He had a terrific return that he almost broke for a touchdown. (it would have been called back for holding though). And he is the last guy in recent history to get a return for a touchdown.
BTW – Kudos to the D and to special teams. I think our coverage has been good in the last two games and our field position seems better than last year. I think its just a matter of time before we start making some bigger plays on Special Teams.
Elam who? (Just kidding – miss you Jason) Prater has been awesome. He could probably kick a 70 yard field goal if given the opportunity.
I think Shanny will give the Prater the chance to boot one this year. He has no reason not to given his performance so far. Martinez did have a good game and a key catch yesterday. I still grimace when he catches the ball though, at least until he proves me wrong a few more times.
If our D can continue to play with that continuity, speed, and intensity, paired with the offenses ability to put up points in a hurry, we will be in every game this year.
I thought yesterday was the most encouraging game I have seen all year, it got me starting to think about playoff runs, now that our D has shown what they are capable of.
Just a reminder…Martinez did have our runback TD off a return last season
royal does give us the best chance but you cant have your starting wr returning puts. reports say he could be out until after bye week. thats not good for us with jags and patirots next 2 weeks. hopefully he can make it back for the monday night game. sheff is out to this is not a good sign guys need to stay healthy for this team to have a shot. maybe nate jackson cna step up and show everyone what kind of te he really is. Its time to start giving pittman the rock that dude is a beast and runs angry. Its about time the defense started blitzing and it made us look like a diffent team in a great way. great job on the adjustments slowick not stay with it.
First, I, and I’m sure the whole Bronco nation, wish to offer my sincerest sympathy to Peyton Hillis and his family for their unexpected loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
Wow!!! That was the best defensive play I’ve seen out of the Broncos for years. I don’t know who said or did what, but it sure worked. The D just needs to keep that level of intensity up as the next three games, even the Dolphins, are going to be hard fought games.
When Larsen was given reps at FB, most people were wondering why have a LB practicing at FB? He did an excellent job Sunday filling in for Hillis. Versatility sure saved the Broncos bacon Sunday.
Biggest negative was the inopportune penalties by the offense. They killed two drives and cost some points. I’m sure that will be stressed come practice time.
Defense did a great job yesterday…. 3 sacks & 1 int. (plenty of 3 down stops) !! DJ Williams led the D with tackles. Royal was listed as probable (ankle) for yesterdays game. Good to see Martinez back. He will definitely contribute. Darrell Jackson should be ready to go as well. Nate Jackson and Daniel Graham will need to step up at TE (pass catching), if Scheffler can’t go next week.
Keep working hard Broncos !!!!
I was sad when we brought back Martinez, he has terrible hands, he’s not very fast, and he fumbles all the time!!!!!! i’m always hoping that he fair catches the dang ball just cause i’m scared he’s gonna cost us the game.
P.S. the refs were terrible on sunday!!!!!!!!
Looking at oldsouthstander’s comments, i agree with the offensive penalties killing us when we have the chance to score. Especially when Andre Hall and 2 in a row that completely blew our chance of getting a touchdown. Hall has not impressed me at all this year. Im hoping that when Torain is healthy and returns that Hall gets cut. Selvin and Pittman have both showed consistency and talent, Hall has been dull and undisciplined.
Other than that, its about time our D held someone below 30 points. That is a big upside to the team.
We have a real shot this year to do well when Torain comes back and if the D stays solid.
Royal should only be the guy returning punts if we need a big play, otherwise he’s just to valuable to risk. I hope he doesn’t miss any time but it’s not looking good so far. I know he’s a stud though so he may bounce back. Youth helps.
