15:00: A blustery 64 degrees on this December afternoon as Matt Prater prepares to kickoff, back deep for the Chiefs is Jamaal Charles. Hopefully Prater can get back to his habit of knocking it through the endzone. Charles bobbles it, then gets a big return to the 40-yard line.
Starting on defense:
DE Elvis Dumervil
DT Dewayne Robertson
DT Marcus Thomas
DE Ebenezer Ekuban
SLB Jamie Winborn
MLB Nate Webster
WLB Wesley Woodyard
CB Josh Bell
CB Dre’ Bly
SS Marquand Manuel
FS Vernon Fox
14:48: After a Tyler Thigpen incompletion and a short run by Larry Johnson, the Chiefs are facing a fourth-and-seven. Thigpen in the gun, keeps it but he is going to be short. He gets five on the play before Wesley Woodyard stops him.
13:25: Eddie Royal waves off the punt and it goes in for a touchback.
Starting on offense for the Broncos:
QB Jay Cutler
RB Peyton Hillis
WR Brandon Stokley
WR Brandon Marshall
WR Eddie Royal
TE Tony Scheffler
LT Ryan Clady
LG Ben Hamilton
C Casey Wiegmann
RG Chris Kuper
RT Ryan Harris
13:02: Jay Cutler hits Brandon Marshall on first down and Marshall gets 10. First play, first down… On the next play, Cutler throws behind Tony Scheffler on a lateral, Scheffler quickly falls on it but it is a loss of six. After a Marshall catch, it is third down. Cutler, avoids the rush, throws it up to Marshall — who can’t hang on. Fourth down.
11:17: Brett Kern booms one, but Kevin Robinson finds room and gets the ball to the Chiefs 49-yard line.
11:09: The 32-yard return by Robinson has the Chiefs setup in great field position. Thigpen lines the Chiefs up in the pistol formation, hands to Johnson for a six-yard gain… The Chiefs remain in the pistol on second down, Thigpen rolls and finds Dwayne Bowe, who has the ball bounce of his chest, then catches it. Big gain, down to the Denver 11.
9:20: Chiefs face a third-and-11 at the Broncos 12… Thigpen has five receivers, hits Charles, but he is quickly brought down by Marquand Manuel and Woodyard. Fourth down and Connor Barth is out. From 26 yards Barth hits it.
Chiefs 3 – Broncos 0; 7:30 remaining.
7:30: Eddie Royal is back deep for the Broncos as he awaits the Barth kick. Royal gets it at the one and tries to dive to the 20, but looks like he only made it to the 19. Cutler will lead the team back on the field for their second possession.
7:25: Cutler pitches to Hillis, who picks up two before getting taken down… On second down, Cutler gives to Royal on an end around, he has room but it quickly closes. Third-and-four, Cuter looks for Brandon Stokley, but Maurice Leggett undercuts the pass and has a easy pick six. 27 yards on the interception return and Barth is good on the point after.
Chiefs 10 – Broncos 0; 5:53 remaining.
5:53: Royal is back deep again for the Barth kick. This one takes Royal deep in the endzone for the touchback.
First-and-10 at the Denver’s 20. Cutler in the gun on first down, rolls and hits Scheffler for a 11-yard gain and a first down.
5:19: After a eight-yard run by Hillis and a short reception by Stokley, the Broncos have another first down.
4:20: On second down, Hillis gets the carry and runs over the Chiefs defense for a first down. I think Bernard Pollard will remember the freight train wearing 22 in orange.
2:20: Third-and-one after two consecutive carries by Tatum Bell. Hillis powers forward for the first down.
1:45: Cutler finds Stokley on the slip-screen on first down and Stokley has room to run. 16 yards and the Broncos are inside the Chiefs 20.
Five wide receivers on first down and Cutler hits Royal… amazing catch by Royal and the Broncos are at the Kansas City seven… Well Herm Edwards thinks the catch may have been a little too amazing and challenges the play.
We haven’t seen a replay here in the press box so it would be hard for me to take a guess. Scott Green comes away from the replay booth and says that Royal did not catch the ball. So second-and-10 at the 18.
0:32: Flags are on the field, but looks like it is on KC. Hillis finds room on the pitch and 18-yards later is in the endzone. The penalty is on KC, touchdown Broncos. Prater is good and the Broncos have answered.
Chiefs 10 – Broncos 7; 0:26 remaining.
0:26: Well, suffice to say the Broncos needed that one. Prater prepares to kick to Charles, who fields the kick way deep in the endzone. Touchback and the Chiefs start at the 20.
A lot of empty backfields for both teams. After missing Bowe, Thigpen hits Charles for eight yards on second down. And that will be the last play of the quarter. See you in the second.

Here we go again. Boo Cutler. 10-0?!?!?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?
seriously I need a better link. Please?
Way to play DOWN to the “competition”.
10 points down to the cheaps early in the first quarter at home.
Tearing down Mile High looks like a really STUPID decision about now.
im not even surprised anymore..
our team is really incosistant.
our gameplan is horrible against bad teams
These interceptions are getting very old!
Luckily, there are no more teams with only 2 wins on the schedule.
balanced offense, this drive is looking good…early bump in the road, but let’s get it together now!
are the zebras STILL trying to make up for the Hochuli call?
Peyton Hillis is a freakin BEAST!!! Way to go offense!
Come on Defense! A turnover and points would be nice right now.
Powerful drive – keep it up! Lets hope for a touchback – a good ST stop appears less likely.
That’s more like it!
Still good. Still in the game…Getting points on the board is a good turnaround..Only hope the momentum shifts back in the second half on.
