Denver and San Diego will meet for the 104th time on Sunday, marking the most common regular-season matchup for the Broncos. All-time, Denver is 54-48-1, including a 19-32 record on the road against San Diego.
When the teams played one another for the first time, the Chargers franchise was still located in Los Angeles. The Chargers won that game 23-19 on Oct. 16, 1960 in Denver. The matchups have remained close throughout the teams’ history as the Chargers average 21.9 points per game to the Broncos’ 21.1 in the series.
Earlier this season, the Chargers defeated the Broncos 29-24 on Oct. 9 in Denver. Tim Tebow took over the quarterback position following a 23-10 halftime deficit and led the Broncos to within a two-point conversion of overtime before San Diego tacked on a field goal in the game’s final seconds.
Denver hopes to end a four-game losing streak to San Diego, having last won 34-23 on Oct., 19, 2009 in San Diego.
Notable performances against the Chargers:
CB Champ Bailey: In 15 games vs. San Diego, Bailey has totaled 78 tackles to go with four interceptions (one touchdown), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 15 pass breakups.

DE Elvis Dumervil: Made five tackles and two sacks with one forced fumble at San Diego (10/19/09).
WR Eddie Royal became just the second Bronco and 11th player in NFL history to return a punt (71 yds.) and a kickoff (93 yds.) for a score in the same game at S.D. (10/19/09).

CB André Goodman: Posted the lone sack of his NFL career at San Diego (10/19/09).
S Brian Dawkins: Forced four fumbles in six career games against the Chargers.
WR Eric Decker caught his first career touchdown pass vs. San Diego (1/2/11).

Denver-San Diego Roster Connections
Some interesting roster connections between the Broncos and Chargers courtesy of research done by Public Relations Intern Cydney Ricker:
Broncos Head Coach John Fox coached the Chargers’ secondary in 1992 and ’93.
San Diego Secondary Coach Steve Wilks coached the defensive backs at Notre Dame during S David Bruton’s sophomore season.
Chargers WR Vincent Jackson hails from Colorado Springs, Colo. and played four seasons at the University of Northern Colorado.
San Diego TE Kory Sperry is from Vineland, Colo. and attended Colorado State University.

I always wanted to be the one to say “New Blog” LOL
It’s unbelievable that a player as good as VJ is from the U of Northern Colorado
VJ played high school football just 25 minutes from me.
I remember that starnd, when I lived in Escambia county, Pensacola for 16 years, Emmit Smith was a star at Escambia High School, then when he became a star he built a huge house only two blocks from mine.
I always liked Emmit Smith.
I heard there a friend of mine that Vincent Jackson didn`t fully grow into his body until he hit his college years. The word was in high school VJ was only 5’9″ 160 lbs his SR year of high school. Atleast thats what was said to me. Leaps and bounds from high school to college for VJ. I guess thats why he played in Northern Colorado, Late bloomer.
I heard THAT. Wrong wording. Yikes!
Confidence for the Broncos has been building with every win, as evidenced with Goodys (Andre Goodman) post game comments vs Jets:
(Old news but worth a repost)…lol.
“It was a great win against a great team—a playoff team that’s been to the AFC Championship two years in a row. It’s probably one of the biggest wins I’ve ever been a part of”.
In addition, believing in their new leader as with noted with Von Millers post game comments:
“I’ve said it before, I trust him. I trust him with everything. No matter how many interceptions he throws or how many touchdowns he scores, that’s Tim Tebow. I’m going to ride with him to the end”.
Another famous Pensacola athlete, world champion boxer Roy Jones jr, I met him in the streets once and he signed my T-shirt, then one day I’m home and the phone rings, I pick up and he says hi this is Roy Jones, my wife was at a charity event and talked him into calling me!!! that was awesome, always was one of my favorite boxer, and obviously real nice guy.
Derrick Brooks, LB extraordinaire with Tampa also of Pensacola I knew pretty well because he used to love to play the golf course I used to run there. Real gentle well mannered big guy.
Yeah, confidence is riding high with the Bronco fans too, you should see the score predictions, 41 say we win only 5 we lose, and yet we are a TD underdog, plus all the underdogs lost yesterday, so what does this all mean? LOL.
It`s a crap shoot. Just give the ball to Willis McGahee and all is well. LOL
41-5, our fans are high on our team right now. Talk about confidence. LOL
One things for sure, if S.D. loses to us on sunday their season is toast. No way they come back from 3 games out.
That’s what I am afraid of, they will be desperate.
I guess the orange kool aid is over-flowing again! hahaha
our O needs to sustain some drives this game and at least limit the opportunities for rivers……..
I’m hoping he’s so desperate that he tries way too hard and forces some bad throws that lead to int’s………..Champ will be ball hawking on Sunday!
John 7: 98-99 continued from yesterday: For He sayith to his all mighty disciple, John, who has brought greatness to and fro, I will now bring thou a new savior in this time of darkness, Timothy, to inspire a Champ to shut thee spewing mouth of the forsaken Phillip, and deBunkley the rumors of evil prevailing. And Timothy said, I will work hard to everyday to improve and meet thee demands of all mighty John, for I will will not rely on Luck on thee horizon. For thee Fox is more clever then those of the Norv. And there was a hush.
Make that 42-5.
Broncos – 31
Chargers – 24

I thought 7 pts was a little much considering the opposite directions our respective teams are heading, and also the fact the we only lost by 5 the first game! Bring on Sunday!!!!
Oh and ever since Bay called out the troll he has been pretty quiet…. Anyone else notice that too? lol I realize I am new and ppl havent seen me post but I have been following the blogs for a while now and thought it was quite hilarious when you guys would call him out on his BS….
But Ill be throwing my 2 cents in once in a while, looking forward to getting to know all my fellow Bronco fans a little better! Go Broncos!!
LMAO @ Bronco_Turtles above post…. gold
Are you a Boxing fan bay? Or just like Roy Jones Jr.?
The troll was annoying when he went by Glaxnax but wasn’t near as bad as he turned out to be after I discovered orangutan was glaxnax. He obviously went off the deep end.
Oh and BTW scalpthechiefs he got banned from blogging on this site.
I hope this works, for anyone that needs a smile….

This was one of my favorite parts of the game against the Jets.
And welcome to Broncos Country StC
lol ya man like I was saying I loved watching you guys calling him out on things, I also respect how most of the people here seem to respect other ppls opinions even if they dont happen to agree with it.
I noticed a lot of ppl dont happen to be fans of carnage or the things he says I guess I should say, but Bay and others will acknowledge that he makes a lot of valid points.
Im glad he is banned! Im also impressed you guys can find him after just a few posts lol
Thanks a lot man, I apprieciate it Royalty.
opinions never have to be conformed to here……..we all have different views on things………..
but the one thing we all love is our broncos, and that’s all that matters.
as long as other’s opinions are treated with respect and there are no personal attacks, I think we call all get along just fine!
GO BRONCOS!
You can’t hide behind a handle, LOL.
About my score prediction, haven’t made it yet, I’m stumped about this one, not like the Jet game where I had it pegged, the problem is SD have Rivers where the Jets had Sanchez, Rivers could come out firing on all cylinders in any given game, so even so it’s a favorable match up to us as far as things stand now, I’m not comfortable predicting a win yet. Also as I’ve been saying desperate teams will do desperate things and the Chargers are in that mode.
And about the boxing, I grew up in the sixties idolyzing Cassius Clay and watch all his fights so I was a huge boxing fan but of course over the years it has all become a joke with the plethora of titles that are out there, no one can keep up with who are really the champs in the sport anymore specially in the heavy weight division, it’s like a yesteryear sport for me, one for the memories, but for a few years Roy Jones was great.
Re: the tweeters…
John Elway needs to continue fueling Tebows fire.
That’s how you get the best out of athletes. That’s how you fuel greatness.
If Elway just nonstop applauds Tebow, that could make Tebow a bit complacent. Not that Tebow seems to be that kind of player, but you gotta keep the drive alive.
I applaud John Elway for keeping the fire lit under Tebow by being non-commital regarding the future of the franchise.
That was a good series of photos StC lol. After all that trash talk Revis had for Tebow — when he had his chance, he punks out lol. Classic.
He was quoted saying that they would be bored to sleep in the back field, yet at the end he was scared of being knocked to sleep lol.
-Royalty
Good sleep analogy Royalty, LOL.
I gotta throw this out there on a slow and quiet bronco football day… Something to consider when determining your self-worth before you fall asleep at night, or something just to think about that really helps a guy appreciate how special the place we live in is, to allow us the comforts to spend the time talking of such trivial games… Also, something that I write about in my book series…
“Anything in life that can be done for money can be done for free, it is simply a matter of choice for the parties involved…” From ‘What was to be the Final Farewell of Freddie Filo’
This game can go either way, hard to predict really. The Broncos are getting a little more respect this week by some ESPN show hosts. Some are predicting a Broncos win. Kinda cool to hear.
Thanks Bay… I’m anxious a little to see how you call it… I’m sticking with my Prediction!!!
I love watching classic boxing… i.e. boxing before Don King… The old hands up for leverege style of Marciano with the walk in, chin down mentality!
Totally punked out!!! You think he would have bailed if the beast that is Kyle Orton lowered his shoulder on him? lol
I was one never for boxing, but every kid likes Cassius Clay back when I was a growing up. (Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee). He`s the best that ever lived at boxing.
Scalp the Chiefs, welcome. Heavy handle dude. Ouch!!
27-16, yeah, that’s reasonable enough if you think we can score 27 points under Tebow, other than the Raider game points explosion with 38, he has been more of in the teens scoring kind of guy, 17 points being the norm, even with the D scoring, but hey, some guys have us scoring as many as 35 points and they obviously are watching a different team than I am, but that was daddy so I can see that, he predicts on faith alone, haha, but even rbf1 just predicted 31 points and I was kind of floored by that, he is thinking we can run all over the Chargers and with good reason, them being in the last third of the league stopping the run. Not sold on us high scoring this one though.
Thanks strand, the story behind it is kind of amusing. I had gone on the chiefs site to see what they were saying about our amazing Broncos, and they had a blog title: How can we beat the donkeys?… I couldnt take it
So I created a handle on their site with the same name, said my piece then thought I cant post on the Chiefs site and not the Broncos. So to prevent forgetting handles or passwords I jus let it roll right over to Broncos Country.
Plus I obviously hate them lol
If the Broncos continue to run the ball with McGahee, it`ll be a low score if we utilize that clock and the D does it`s job stopping Rivers offense. Come on WILLIS!!
Speaking of boxers, Smokin Joe Frazier recently passed away. RIP.
Used to watch the heavyweights, Smokin Joe, Foreman, Ali, Ken Norton, Young, Holmes etc…
I remember when Ken Norton broke Ali’s jaw. great fight.
LOL, hey gotta go with it then. Amusing!
You said 24-20, definitely not a low score, more medium range.
Plus the only game I saw in Denver was in the Cutler days and we smashed them 41-7. I also was there for the exciting season opener in Buffalo where Elam came running onto the field with 8 seconds left and kicked the fg as time expired.
Yeah I have always loved boxing as well bay, I took state as a youngster. It’s in my blood, my dad also was a Golden Gloves champ. It’s sad to see how far the sport has fallen because of shotty and down right dirty judging. Which is why a blood show such as MMA has taken over. I’ll still always have a little spot in my heart for the old art of boxing… Too bad.
Down goes Frazier, Down goes Frazier!!
