On the next play, Tebow fakes the handoff to Moreno and throws for Brandon Lloyd, but the pass sails out of bounds. After the play, both teams are called for personal fouls and the penalties offset. On third-and-9 from the 18-yard line, Tebow finds Brandon Lloyd for a 13-yard completion on the right sideline.

The Chargers are flagged for holding and pushed back to their 11-yard line. Q4 15:00: The Chargers line up in a two-back set, and Mario Haggan tackles Ryan Matthews for no gain. D.J. Williams pressures Rivers into an incomplete pass on second down, and the Chargers face third-and-10. Rivers handles the shotgun snap passes for Floyd, but Andre’ Goodman and Renaldo Hill break it up. Kaeding comes out to attempt the 53-yard field goal, and he pulls it wide right. That counts for the first missed field goal in Denver of Kaeding’s career.

Q4 14:07: The Broncos face first-and-10 from their own 43-yard line. Tebow lines up under center, fakes the handoff to Lance Ball and runs up the middle for 5 yards. He handles the shotgun snap for a called-draw on second down, running for 4 yards this time. Facing third-and-1, Tebow lines up under center and hands off to Lance Ball, who can’t pick up the yard. The punt team runs out to the boos of the crowd, but wait, it looks like a fake. Tebow lines up to take the snap in the swinging-gate formation, and San Diego calls a timeout.

Q4 12:19: Facing fourth-and-2 from the 49-yard line, Tebow lines up in the Shotgun and sprints up the middle on the called draw. The officials are bringing out the chains to measure, and the Broncos fall short. San Diego will take over on downs.

CHARGERS 33 BRONCOS 14

Q4 7:55: Cassius Vaughn fields the kickoff at the 3-yard line, hits the crease and evades a tackler for a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He caps it off with a Mile-High salute, and Steven Hauschka converts the extra point. The return was the second-longest in team history.

CHARGERS 33 BRONCOS 21

Q4 7:30: Darren Sproles picks up Steven Hauschka’s squib kick and finds a seam, returning it 41 yards to the 42-yard line. On third-and-18, Rivers hits Sproles on an underneath pass for a 15-yard gain. Scifres comes on to punt, fumbles the snap and recovers to punt. Eddie Royal backs off and San Diego downs the punt at the 30-yard line. San Diego is penalized for an illegal man downfield, and that adds 5 more yards.

Q4 5:26: Tebows first-down pass intended for Daniel Graham is incomplete. On second down, Tebow completes a 2-yard pass to Knowshon Moreno. Facing third-and-8, Tebow fires a low pass over the middle, but Eric Decker can’t complete the diving catch. Q4 1:17: Facing third-and-6 at the 40-yard line, Tebow sets up in the shotgun and hits Correll Buckhalter for an 11-yard completion on the right sideline. Tebow has nowhere to pass on the next play, so he runs out of bounds. On the next play Tebow launches a 25-yard pass up the middle to Daniel Graham and spikes the ball. The Broncos now have second-and-goal from the 6-yard line. Tebow rolls out and can’t find anyone open, so he throws the ball away. On third down, Tebow looks to pass, but see’s space up the middle and runs it in for 6-yard touchdown. Hauschka’s extra point is good, and the Broncos are behind by five points with 26 seconds left in the game.
