HALFTIME: The Broncos are honoring breast cancer survivors on the field during halftime. San Diego will receive to start the second half.
Q3 15:00: After a touchback, Ryan Mathews picks up 2 yards on first down, and Philip Rivers scrambles for 6 more on second down. That makes it third-and-2 at the 28-yard line, and Rivers hits Patrick Crayton for a first down. On the ensuing first down, Rivers finds Randy McMichael, who is brought down by Quinton Carter after a 7-yard gain. Mathews is wrapped up for no gain by Robert Ayers on the next play. Mathews picks up 2 yards to set up third-and-1, then picks up 2 more for a first down at the San Diego 49-yard line.
Q3 10:45: On the ensuing first down, Joe Mays nearly picks up a sack, but D.J. Williams and Marcus Thomas finish off Rivers, dropping him for an 8-yard loss. That makes it second-and-12, and the ball slips out of Rivers’ hands for a fumble. The quarterback sprints back to fall on the ball, and Ayers is there to fall on him and set up third-and-35. Jacob Hester takes a carry on the next play, picking up 10 yards. Mike Scifres is in to punt to the waiting Quan Cosby, who grabs the ball at the 10 and finds room to the 30-yard line.
Q3 8:54: Tim Tebow is now in at quarterback, looking at first-and-10 at his own 31-yard line.
INJURY REPORT: San Diego running back Mike Tolbert has a concussion and will not return.
Q3 8:53: Willis McGahee takes a carry on first down, picking up 5 yards. On second down, Tebow bobbles the snap but gets it off to McGahee, who is dropped behind the line of scrimmage. That brings up third-and-8 at the 33-yard line. Tebow is in the shotgun. He takes the snap and hits Eric Decker at the line of scrimmage, but the receiver is dropped quickly for no gain. Britton Colquitt is in to punt to Crayton. The returner is dropped at the 20-yard line, where the Chargers will take over.
Q3 6:59: Mathews picks up 2 yards on first down, but picks up about 11 more on second down to grab a first down at the 33-yard line. Rivers hits Vincent Jackson for another first down at the San Diego 47-yard line. The ensuing first down brings a run by Mathews, who picks up 2 yards. On second down, Champ Bailey comes blitzing in from cornerback, and Rivers is forced to roll out and throw the ball away. That makes it third-and-8, and Rivers’ pass is nearly intercepted by Cassius Vaughn for the second time this afternoon, but it’s ruled incomplete. Scifres is in to punt again, and Cosby is back deep to receive. He calls for a fair catch and is run into by a Chargers gunner, but there’s no flag. Denver has the ball at the 7-yard line.
Q3 3:56: First down brings another run by McGahee, and the back picks up a quick 3 yards. On second down, Tebow throws down the sideline to Brandon Lloyd, who brings in the pass, but the refs rule he was out of bounds and it’s therefore incomplete. On third down, Tebow is in the shotgun. He takes the snap, scrambles around in the backfield and fires deep to Eric Decker, who found his way wide open behind his defender. But the receiver can’t bring in the pass as he dives nearly midfield. Colquitt is in to punt again, and the returner, Crayton, is brought down at his own 37-yard line.
Q3 2:48: Mathews takes a carry for a yard before being stopped by Joe Mays. On second down, Mathews is stopped again, this time at the line of scrimmage for no gain. That brings up third-and-9, and Rivers is in the shotgun. He finds McMichael for a first down at midfield.
Q3 0:40: On first down, Mathews finds a hole and leaves his feet to try to jump over a defender, but he’s hit by Champ Bailey, who forces a fumble that is recovered by Mays. It was a 6-yard gain and there’s no return on the fumble, so Denver has a first down at its own 44-yard line.
Q3 0:39: The Chargers challenged the ruling on the field — and it’s determined that Mathews was down by contact before the fumble, and San Diego now has the ball again with a second-and-4. Rivers hits Hester on a pass for a first down at the 40-yard line on the next play as the third quarter comes to a close.
Q4 15:00: Mathews takes the first-down carry for 3 yards. On second down, Mathews takes a pitch and picks up 3 more yards, setting up third-and-4. Rivers tries to hit Jackson over the middle, but Champ Bailey was having none of it, knocking away the pass and shaking his head as he jogs to the sideline. Nick Novak is in to attempt a 51-yard field goal — and it’s good.
CHARGERS 26, BRONCOS 10
Q4 13:35: After a touchback, Tebow and the offense take over at the 20-yard line. On first down, Tebow looks for Dante Rosario, but the tight end can’t haul in the pass. There’s a Charger down after the play — I believe it’s Shaun Phillips.
Q4 13:29: On second-and-10, Tebow is in the shotgun. He hands off to Willis McGahee, who finds a hole for 12 yards and a first down at the 32-yard line. McGahee gets another carry on the ensuing play, and he’s stopped after a gain of a yard. It’s a fake handoff on second down, and Tebow scrambles for a 5-yard gain. That brings up third-and-4, and Tebow is in the shotgun. He rolls left and throws low to Willis for an incompletion. Colquitt is in to punt again, and he booms it to the 10-yard line.
Q4 11:33: On first down for the Chargers, Mathews gets another carry and picks up 11 yards for a first down. It’s Mathews again on the next play, but he’s dropped after a gain of 1. The running back limps off the field after the play. On second-and-9, Rivers hits McMichael for a 4-yard gain. Now third-and-5, Rivers is sacked by Von Miller. That’s his fourth consecutive game with at least one sack — and his fifth quarterback takedown of the season. Scifres is in to punt for the Chargers, and Cosby returns it to near midfield.
Q4 8:34: On first down, McGahee finds a big hole for a 28-yard gain, and he’s got his third 100-yard rushing game of the season. He’s at 120 yards on the day. On the next play it’s Tebow with the run — he scrambles to the sideline and picks up the first down at the 12-yard line. On first-and-10, Antonio Garay bursts through the line to break up a play at the line of scrimmage. It’s now second-and-10, and Tebow is in the shotgun. It’s a designed quarterback draw, and Tebow sprints 12 yards for the touchdown. The crowd is fired up as the Broncos are going for two to make it a one-score game. Tebow is in the shotgun, and he gives it to McGahee, who continues his big day, diving into the end zone for the conversion before giving the crowd a Mile High Salute.
CHARGERS 26, BRONCOS 18
Q4 6:35: After Prater’s kick goes through the end zone, San Diego takes over at the 20. On first down, Rivers completes to Jackson for 9 yards. Hester runs for no gain on second down. On third-and-short, Rivers sneaks for first down yardage. On the ensuing first down, Rivers is swarmed in the pocket but gets the ball out for an incomplete. Denver is challenging the ruling that the pass is incomplete, believing it was a fumble by Rivers.
Q4 4:38: After review, the call on the field is overturned and the play is ruled a fumble recovered by Denver. Tebow and Broncos offense takes over at the San Diego 41-yard line.
Q4 4:34: Tebow runs right for 8 yards on first down. On second down McGahee picks his way up the middle for 5 yards and a new set of downs. Tebow then completes a screen pass under pressure to Moreno, who sprints into the end zone for the 28-yard score. The offense is on the field to attempt a 2-point try. Denver calls a timeout.
Q4 3:19: The 2-point conversion is no good as Tebow’s pass for Lloyd falls incomplete.
CHARGERS 26, BRONCOS 24
Q4 3:18: The kickoff goes for a touchback and the Chargers start at their 20. On first down, Rivers is hurried by the blitz up the gut and throws incomplete. On second down, Rivers throws intended for Floyd and it’s broken up by Goodman. On third-and-10, Rivers completes to Floyd for a 38-yard gain. Denver calls timeout (1 remaining).
Q4 2:51: On first down, Hester runs for 2 yards and the Broncos call their final timeout.
Q4 2:46: On second down, Rivers pitches to Hester for a short gain but the Broncos are called for unnecessary roughness, giving San Diego a first down at the Denver 22-yard line. Hester then runs left on first down and is stopped for no gain. That brings us to the 2-minute warning.
Q4 1:59: On second down, Hester runs up the middle for 3 yards. On third-and-seven from the Denver 19-yard line, Hester runs left and is stopped after a short gain. San Diego calls timeout as the play clock winds down. Novack hits the field goal try from 35 yards out. 24 seconds remain.
CHARGERS 29, BRONCOS 24
Q4 0:24: Denver takes over at the 20 after a touchback.
Q4 0:19: After review, Tebow’s first down pass to Lloyd is ruled a catch and a 20-yard gain down the right sideline. On second down, Tebow completes deep down the middle to Fells for a 31-yard gain. Tebow then stops the clock with a spike. San Diego calls their second timeout. Denver has the ball at the San Diego 29-yard line with 1 second left.
Q4 0:01: After scrambling to keep the play alive, Tebow’s pass falls incomplete in the end zone and the game is over.
FINAL: CHARGERS 29, BRONCOS 24

I wouldn’t want to be Fox if he doesn’t start TT in 2 weeks.
CHEERS! BOTTOMS UP!!
@Ty-one-on: That was probably because it was easier for him to understand. I don’t think he gets Tebow at all so I don’t think he has any idea what to do right now. His whole neat little world just got turned upside down and he is floundering around looking for a new place to stand. I just wonder if he made the decision to change or was it “suggested” to him by the powers that be during half-time.
i predicted 21-30 i think.. lol if so thats the closest i been all season
This is what I think!!
Trade Orton during the bye to Miami and have Orton and Tebow play each other in two weeks!!! That would be AWESOME!!!!!
I wish I was in Colorado partying it up with fellow Bronco Lovers and Tebow supporters. Being from Iowa all I see are Green Bay fans and Green Bay updates on Facebook haha.
Bay, it had nothing to do with pressure from the blogs LMAO, OK bay they heard you, pat urself on the back LOL. They actually know that he is better ,and he should of been starting anyway, but they didnt pick him in the draft. Now that this contreveray is over Bay, which one will you start now, every denver bronco fan has what it wants, myself included. But bay we all know that nothing is perfect but for atleast two weeks we can hope. Hey bay can you paste some more of the articles that everyone has already have read, and ill keep myself posted for your next contriversy have a nice night sir. YOUR a tool buddy.
Freak!! IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT`S ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest Broncos loss I’ve ever witnessed! Tebow will turn this trainwreck around just watch! The man gives us options. Could Orton ever scramble around like Tebow did on that last play?! I don’t think so. Only Johnny Elway could..
Eat dirt? What does that mean exactly? I know what eat crow means. And licking boots. But eat dirt?
Anyway. I didn’t see any of the game. I know Tebow played and brought fire, passion, new blood…lol. We still lost. That’s all that matters.
We are officially in the hunt for Luck. Especially if our defense keeps playing the way they have.
Obviously Orton couldn’t get the job done. Too bad for him. As I said last night he was down to hours. He couldn’t do it. So as Fox’s saying goes- Next Man Up!
Hopefully, Tebow plays well enough so we can get Crick and maybe a 2nd round CB. Speaking of which, way to go Von Miller!
Broncofreak that’s the best idea I heard.lol. TEBOW TIME
We only got to see a half of Tebow wait till we get a whole game of that effort and heart!!!
“Greatest Broncos loss I’ve ever witnessed!” LOL nice comment jsizzla
Lotta excited Bronco fans man … guys that wanted to see TT … im happy. Like u know … I wanted to as well.
And it played out like many thought .. losing by bye week and TT coming in to take over after bye week … just happened 2 quarters earlier than anticipated … but im excited. I hope he works through the bye week. He has had enough time sitting on the bench to relax.
Cant say we are right about TT … dunno if he is the one but what I do know is that like we all said … the guys can hang in the NFL if u just give him a chance … And he hung all right without preparation. I believe in the kid … hope he doesn’t let me down … I doubt he will let me down tho … only thing that can make this sweeter is trading Orton to the Dolphins before Week6 … don’t care what they give us … we will get nothing if he goes at the end of this year … TRB .. but i doubt we trade him …
I do I answer an illiterate? Forget it, I don’t.
Sndvl, Orton lost us the game. Tebow was the one who almost bailed us out of a loss. If it wasn`t for Tim, it wouln`t have been so close. Nice try though.
You know sometimes it’s not about mechanics, it’s about the “IT” factor and Orton didn’t have “IT” never has. Bernie Kosar never had good mechanics but he might be a HOFer some day you never know and he had a horrible throwing motion! Hell last week against GB, Phil Simms said that Aaron Rodgers throws it completely different now than he did in college!! They showed the video of it for cryin out loud!
Meant how. I told you I could care less to have any converation with you sorry arse and here you go addressing my handle 5 times in one post, what a sorry life you must lead.
The “I told you so’s” are a tad unecessary. People just need to be happy things worked out the way they wanted. Sheesh
Anyway this is an awesome day and no insignificant illiterate moron will ever change that.
this was a must win game and we lost. a team loss. that is our mantra right? we win and lose as a team. I really do hope everyone remembers that. despite the second half or I should say 4th quarter effort, we fell short. opening the door for the tebow hate speech. exciting? yes but in the end still disappointed. so instead of grilling tebow on red zone, the haters will jump on the two point conversions.
I am a HAPPY BRONCO CAMPER!! LOL
I don’t think the defense is the issue. They gave up only 6 points in the second half. They went against a good offense and got tired and let up 2 td’s after the offense failed to sustain drives led by Orton in the first half. It happens. But they also sacked Rivers four times. Had a pick six. And Ayers had a key forced fumble. No, I don’t think we can blame the defense.
Exactly strandoftds! lol
I disagree, we shook a cancer this game win or loss and it’s name was Kyle Orton. I’ve been posting for weeks that this team needs change even if we don’t win another game this year. This is the only way we’ll know.. This is for the best for all of us!
This game is THE exception dude. You aint gonna ruin my day. HaHa!!!!
It’s just little things denver0723. The TD before the half should have never happened. Then that personal foul penalty on SD’s final drive. Just little things that seperate a 4-1 team from our 1-4 team right now
It` a new day. I want a DT, CB or RB with our first 2012 pick now. Luck is out of the picture since the front office and coaches have Tebows back now.
Whether someone was a Tebow supporter or Orton supporter, our entire fan base wanted to know what we have in Tebow. Finally we will get to see him in a large sample size (11 games) instead of a 3 game blip at the end of the season last year.
That is how you grow as a franchise, by seeing what we have in the cabinet before we go shopping next April. Kudos to Fox. I don’t blame Fox for starting Orton, he gave it a chance thinking this team could make the playoffs this year. He has cut his losses 5 games into the season instead of prolonging the inevitable.
None of my teams college, fantasy or the broncos won this week and I’m happier than I’ve been all year!! Heard the fans chanting “Tebow” after the last play when we lost.. What’s that say?!
Well we certainly can’t blame Orton anymore.
Yes the defense could not come up with a key stop in the closing quarter. Seems to be a trend.
IDK. Hopefully Tebow turns into everything everybody says. So that way, the focus on the rebuild can be primarily defensive!!!
strandoftds we have to see if Tebow is actually good first before ruling out Luck lol. Tebow would have to do a lot of impressing to convince Elway to turn down a Standford stud. It’s going to be a very interesting, and revealing 11 weeks.
Thats totally cool!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!
I’m not disagreeing with that Atwater4HOF, but I don’t think it can be pinned on the defense. The long td before the half was a major rookie mistake by Carter, and the personal foul was inexcusable. But they did their job in the second half. Second quarter could definitely have been better, but they only let up one td when backed up into the redzone. They bent, but they didn’t break with exception to a rookie mistake that led to a 42yd bomb.
But with Tebow at the helm we`ll win some games. And that puts us out of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. And we will win with Tebow, trust me.
denver0723- I’m very impressed by our D so far this season. Obviously Rodgers tore us up but otherwise I really am pleased.
Like you said, it was a rookie mistake and that just comes with the territory of starting rookies. Even Von got smoked on a pass to the tight end today. It happens. Secondary played much better today though which I was happy with. Struggled a little bit with stopping the run but it certainly didn’t kill us like it did last season.
I am personally disappointed but don’t get me wrong, it is awesome reading so much optimism. I already knew tebow would bring that. I thought it should have gone without saying, but certain people on these boards need to read it. why am I disappointed? we lost. and another come back win from tebow, this time at home, against the chargers, would have sealed his right at qb1.
I hope so, coming out of the bye we definitely have opportunities to rack up a few W’s
That personal foul call was petty by the ref who threw that flag. Players pushing after the play was over and a small push at that. I see many things like that that aren`t called, and especially when the raiders do it. That call was petty. Just saying.
hey gang enough with the luck wishing. i know the “experts” say he is a pro style quarterback but didn’t they say that about ryan leaf and he lasted how long. we have our future and you ride him all the way till he proves he’s not the guy. luck is a great college qb but lets see didn’t tt win the national championship and a heisman.
You guys have all seen that E360 espn special on Tebow I mean come on I watched the guy in college I know he was great there but that special shows the effort he puts forth and how hard he trains, trys, and practices.! Until I see a comparible Kyle Orton special I’m sold on T.Tebow as the QB of the Denver Broncos!!
Ryan Matthews ran for a career high 125 today.
Yea I said earlier I had trouble seeing the call on the replay. Stuff like that though is killer, tough break for us if it was just petty.
Very true. I look forward to the D progressing each week. The more experience for the young guys the better. I have been very pleased with Allen as our DC. I hope he is around for a while!
Sndvl, yes he ran for a career high 125yds. But he didn’t get into the endzone.
I sure don`t want to see K.C. get Luck. That would be a heart breaker for us Broncos fans.
Eric Crouch and Jason White won a Hesiman too lol.
I agree though with giving Tebow a legit chance to prove he is our QB. No reason not to.
Ok, I won’t be the rain on Tebow Day.
Great job by Willis M. Glad the D held them to 6 in the 2nd half. Glad Von Miller registered another sack. Is that 4 or 5 straight games now?
Miller has 5 sacks so far.
