Broncos vs. Chargers: Pregame Blog

October 9th, 2011 - 12:18pm by Gray Caldwell

It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve been back in the Sports Authority Field at Mile High press box. I’m sure the Broncos are happy to be home as well.

A handful of Chargers are on the field warming up already — just a couple Broncos are warming up, including Tim Tebow and Adam Weber, who are throwing passes to each other.

Kyle Orton is now on the field throwing passes to Matthew Willis and Eric Decker.

We’ll keep you up to date on the pregame action, including the list of inactives as soon as we get them. We’re just about two hours away from kickoff.

12:54 p.m. MDT: Just got the Broncos inactives for today’s game. Eddie Royal, Julius Thomas, Demaryius Thomas, Jonathan Wilhite, Manny Ramirez, Tony Hills and Mitch Unrein will not suit up against the Chargers.

Here is the official inactives list, as signed by Head Coach John Fox:

1 p.m. MDT: The special teamers are on the field, and Britton Colquitt is in full uniform, making it official that the Broncos will wear their typical home blue jerseys and white pants.

Here are the official Chargers inactives: WR Bryan Walters, CB Shareece Wright, RB Jordan Todman, LB Darryl Gamble, DE Jacques Cesaire, TE Antonio Gates and DE Luis Castillo.

1:33 p.m. MDT: Both teams are on the field now warming up. There’s a lot of pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month — towels, cleats, arm sleeves. Here’s a closer look at some of the things happening today for breast cancer awareness — http://blog.denverbroncos.com/denverbroncos/playing-in-pink/

1:52 p.m. MDT: We’re about 20 minutes away from kickoff, and both teams have made their way back to the locker rooms. The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are donning all pink and performing at midfield along with the Stampede marching band. A few pregame photos are coming shortly.

2:03 p.m. MDT: Just about 15 minutes from kickoff, and the National Anthem is set to begin. See you in the first half blog.

Tim Tebow and Adam Weber, who are throwing passes to each other.

Kyle Orton is now on the field throwing passes to Matthew Willis and Eric Decker.

    What’s Quinn doing?

    Carrying the playbook, haha.

Anyway Orton the only one throwing the ball to guys who actually catch it, I guess it makes sense since Orton is it.

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Orton may not have IT, but he is IT, lol.

  3. henryac says:

Must be nice to know your job is safe no matter what you do or how you perform. Never had the luxury in my life!

  4. RabidOrange says:

You’re right, Bay. He doesn’t have IT. He has INT instead.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

As always looking forward to watch and enjoy the game with my Bronco buddies at the sports bar but after watching Rodgers last week and Luck last evening it is definitely going to take some getting used to having to watch Orton “perform” again.

There`s some surprises so far today at half time. The Vikings are up big and 0 and 4 colts just might pull out a win. Seattle was looking alright but are now tied. Whatelse is knew?! HaHa!!

  7. strandoftds says:

I`m with you on that Bay. Thats a big ten 4 dude. Rather bitter sweet, I`d say. Suck for Luck for the big picture.

  8. henryac says:

Enjoy, Bay, and keep the faith. Maybe this is Orton’s day to be something. After all, even a blind squirrel can sometimes find an acorn!

  9. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, Colts and Vikings getting a win puts us in the driver seat for the Luck sweepstake other than Miami, haha, since in a tie we would certainly end up winning the tie breaker with our 3rd hardest schedule in the league. Go Dolphins! LOL.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

GO MARSHALL! That’s a first for me, LMAO!

  11. strandoftds says:

I predict that Orton throws two more INT`s and will fumble once because of his god awful lack of pocket awareness. He won`t step up in the pocket when it breaks down.

  12. strandoftds says:

    LOL!!

  13. strandoftds says:

    Come On Seattle!!!

  14. baylinorcrush says:

Oh no, forgot the Rams are 0-4 too, GO McD! Never thought I’d say that too, LOL.

  15. strandoftds says:

Yeah, Rams and Dolphins are in Bye`s this weekend.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

It looks like the first bye week, I don’t see either the Dolphins or the Rams playing this weekend, best way for them not to lose.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Talk about good timing for these two teams for a bye week…

  18. strandoftds says:

Back to the games. Bay enjoy the game with your buds. Later.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Whilhite inactive, that one could really hurt against Rivers.

  20. UKBroncos says:

You guys are funny but doesn’t it just show that everything Broncos related for the last 2 years has been tainted with failure?

  21. strandoftds says:

No Gates at TE for S.D.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

    Wilhite.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

Gates was doubtful all week so no surprise but they will have Jackson.

  24. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, I gotta get ready, put the Bronco garb on, later guys, enjoy. GO BRONCOS!

  25. strandoftds says:

Jackson went to high school in Colorado Springs, just 30 minutes from me.

  26. 3rdGeneration says:

Just got on to say it’s going to hurt not to have Wilhite, but I see Bay beat me to it. I’d like to see a game with our secondary all on the field. I hope Von meets Rivers face to face many times today.

  27. broncsbomber66 says:

    The BRONCSBOMBER CHECKING IN FELLAS!

  28. RabidOrange says:

Well, guess we’ll see how good Champs legs are against Jackson today.

  29. navy_bronco_fan says:

Come on Broncos….let’s find a way today! BEAT THE DOLTS! Can’t wait for Phyllis to meet Mr. Miller.

  30. RabidOrange says:

I can’t wait for Matthews to meet Mr. Mays…

  31. broncsbomber66 says:

Bay, did u get my prediction?

  32. samurai713 says:

Yeah I hope Miller knocks that annoying smirk off River’s face today. I’d like Moore to pick him off a couple times too. I hope Mays and Williams can make Matthews hesitate about hitting the holes. I hope Kyle Orton can go a game without a fumble or interception. I hope our running game gets over a hundred yards. I hope our defense plays like it’s under the tutelage of a defensive minded coach. I hope Decker continues to have a great year, I hope our other receivers can get healthy and stay healthy. I hope we don’t end up “Sucking for Luck”. I hope a lot of things, but I’m afraid only a handful may come to fruition.

  33. seweatherman1 says:

I look for our defense to have a spectacular day. May Rivers learn what the ground feels like…several times!!

  34. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Alright this is a very winnable game and it is a MUST WIN at that. Hoping our organizations shows we are moving in the right direction today. GO BRONCOS! Get ‘em Champ!

  35. soldierjoe says:
