Head Coach John Fox
On the No. 1 offense
“I was pleased with our offense. I thought we were pretty crisp. On the one drive, on the touchdown drive, I thought a very critical play was (WR) Brandon Stokley made a great grab on third down to keep possession. I’m never really happy losing ever, but I thought our first looked pretty sharp and I think we made great strides this week.”
On QB Peyton Manning
“I’ve seen steady improvements as he’s gotten here and as a tribute to him, his work ethic, I think the offensive coaches, his offensive teammates, for being a first-year guy… He’s not a young player by any stretch, but to come in and learn an offense, execute an offense with the precision he is pretty good.”
On starters playing at Arizona
“It’ll be a game-time decision. We’ll talk about it as a staff, we’ll see the health of our football team, go into greater detail of the performance of our football team [and] we’ll make that judgment moving forward.”
QB Peyton Manning
On how the offense played today
“Well you still got to do it every week. I thought we did some good things today. We moved the ball pretty well. We got two touchdowns—it would have been nice to have gotten three instead of settle for a field goal. I thought the running game was good. (RB) Willis (McGahee) made some nice runs [and] had some nice holes by the offensive line. Receivers made some nice plays as well. I thought one thing that was nice is that the defense got a turnover, and then the offense went out there and got a touchdown, as opposed to having to settle for three. That is always big when you can feed off one another, offense and defense.”
On the Broncos’ offensive success early in the game
“Well, the offense was excited to move the ball. I thought we had some rhythm—we huddled today yet we still played at an up-tempo pace of getting in and out of the huddle and getting the personnel packages.
On Lance Ball’s 38-yard catch in the first quarter
“In training camp, we have put [RB Lance Ball] outside at wide receiver a few times and, heck, actually thrown that particular pattern actually a couple times in training camp. So, it’s always nice when you can take something that you’ve worked on in practice and take it to the playing field. I thought it was a really good route and a good finish by him today.”
Wide Receiver Eric Decker
On the first half
“It was a well-executed first half. I think both offensively and defensively we felt comfortable with what we did on the field. We are going to go in, watch film, correct what we need to, get ready for Arizona, and stay healthy for the season.”
On the difference between this week and last week
“We executed better; we didn’t have mistakes and didn’t have too many turnovers. Also, defensively they stopped the ball and have been playing real well. That has been huge for us offensively.”
On whether he was pleased with the team’s performance
“Like I said, we were happy with what we put on the field in the first half. We executed what we wanted to do, we moved the football, scored in the red zone, didn’t turn the ball over too much and that is something you have to do consistently. You have to do that more than one time and that is something we are working on is to build off of that and have a couple weeks like that.”
DL Derek Wolfe
On the defense’s performance
“There is always room for improvement. There were a lot of mistakes that were made and areas where we can fix it. We are going to do it and I think we will be a great defense.”
On how the offense helped the defense
“When you’re getting three-and-outs and then your offense is going out there and scoring quick, you can’t go wrong. Three-and-outs and scoring quick, you can’t lose that way.
On the first-quarter defensive performance
“Everything was kind of going our way; the ball was falling into our hands. It was going great because there is nothing better than when you game plan and then execute that game plan. That is what kind of happened; we executed what we were practicing all week.”
LB Von Miller
On the defense
“We still have some fine tuning to do. We still have two good weeks of practice, a lot of work to get in and get ready for Pittsburgh.”
On the defense’s first-half performance
“It feels pretty good but it is a whole game. There is four quarters in a game and we still have a lot of tuning to do. I am sure we will take advantage of these next practices, we will be alright.”
On what was different from last week
“Coach (Jack) Del Rio has really been preaching that you practice like you play. I feel like we had some really good practices this week and hopefully we can have two good weeks of practice going into the Pittsburgh game.”

Actually the steelers may make the playoffs…I can’t think of 6 teams without them. I still think they won’t be as good aqs people expect them to be. Teams like KC, Cincy, Tenn would have to be in for Pitt to be out. Not sure that can happen. KC looks like the strongest of thos to me.
Damn I can’t spell today
