Good afternoon from London’s Wembley Stadium. The crowd is piling into the stadium in a myriad of different jerseys. The contest between the Broncos and the 49ers is almost like an International NFL convention with jerseys from all 32 team represented in the crowd.
With this being a 49ers home game, the majority of the stadium signage and field marks are in support of the red and gold. Each seat at Wembley comes with a 49ers flag, but the Broncos are represented with a painted endzone and two floats.
We should have inactives very shortly as well as some pregame pictures from the field.
3:56 p.m. GMT: Here are the inactives for the Broncos; S Darcel McBath, CB Perrish Cox, LB Robert Ayers, LB Wesley Woodyard, OL Eric Olsen, OL Chris Clark, DL Kevin Vickerson and Brady Quinn is the third quarterback.
For the 49ers; WR Kyle Williams, CB Tarell Brown, LB Keaton Kristick, OT Barry Sims, C Eric Heitmann, OT Alex Boone, WR Jason Hill are inactive and Alex Smith is the third quarterback. As was announced earlier in the week, Troy Smith will start at QB for the 49ers.
4:06 p.m. GMT: One of the unique features of the Wembley press box is that it is outside and amongst the fans. It also lets us experience the weather, which currently is overcast with intermittent rain showers and a temperature of around 50 degrees. A little chilly for those of us who are used to being inside in a controlled environment during the game.
The Broncos specialists have taken the field and are testing out the field conditions. From walking on the grass yesterday, it was very slick. I am sure the rain is just adding to that so the long spikes will be out.
4:30 p.m. GMT: Here are some pregame photos from Eric Detweiler.

4:43 p.m. GMT: All the players have cleared the field and a concert stage is being setup for some pregame entertainment. I believe the band performing is called My Chemical Romance. I have to be honest, I am not familiar with them at all, but the young couple sitting in the section next to the press box is pretty excited about seeing them.
Most of the stadium is filled and with darkness setting over London, the flash bulbs from cameras are making for a neat atmosphere.
Before the band takes the stage the 49ers dance team performed to several songs by The Black Eyed Peas. Which made fellow blogger Gray Caldwell ask, “Why are The Black Eyed Peas popular?” Answers are welcome.
4:54 p.m. GMT: And My Chemical Romance leaves the field as both teams prepare to come out of the tunnel. Whether you are a fan of their music or not, they did get the place pretty hyped.
4:57 p.m. GMT: All right, as the team’s are introduced I will leave you here and see you in the first half blog.
