NFL.com has two polls up involving Broncos after the team’s stellar offensive performance in Week 1.
Eddie Royal is nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week. Royal caught nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in the win against the Raiders.
The man getting the ball to Royal, Jay Cutler, is on the ballot for FedEx Air Player of the Week. Cutler built off his successful preseason, completing 16-of-24 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns against a strong Raiders secondary.

this is no suprise for us denver broncos fans , and hoefully this will continue season long !!
thats right no surprise here and i cant waite to see the borncos kick the s_ _t out of the chargers this weekend. go broncos and go buckeyes
Eddie was great but I want to nominate Ryan Clady as Rookie of the Week. He was a wall. Jay had all day. Without Ryan, Eddie wouldn’t have seen a pass.
i agree theovango the offensive line played awesome great offensive production . lets beat the chargers go broncos
Wow! What a great start. The Broncos were firing on all cylinders last night. The O-line looked great and gave Jay all night to throw the ball. Eddie Royal made Deangelo Hall look like the rookie last night. The defense looked solid all night for the most part. Dumervil didn’t have the stats to show it but he was incredible. Hats off to the coaching staff for a great win! Prater looked awesome as well. Having said that I think the Raiders were pretty bad last night and I would have been disappointed had we not dominated them but I think Shanny knows that. I’m really looking forward to the Chargers game and the rest of the season because it looks like were going to be contenders again this season! Go Broncos! and crush the Bolts!
Does anybody know why Jarvis Moss didn’t play last night?
they put in ekuban b/c he is better on run d.. and more experienced. jarvis should play the sd im sure. engelberger looked alright.. Eddie is amazing. if it wasnt for Clady Eddie wouldnt have caught all those balls. Look Good SD next week at home. Divisob game hopefully start 2-0 in the divison and take it game by game.
The offense looked good and so did the D. How did the Raider run for 150 yards on us though? I went to sleep before the start of the 4th quarter so meybe I missed a few long runs or something. I thought we did pretty good against the run and pass. The pass rush was constantly in Russell’s face.
What a team we have, we can put up some points with this offense, I can fill it, just think how well we will be playing in November and December I am sure of it. this is not a one game wonder, we got a team you hear me!
I didn’t see boss Bailey Either…
Great Job O-line for sure. What an incredible game.
boss ankle still not 100% and that hurt us in pass d a little. the only players russell could hit were the TE and FB and once we get boss back in line up we should be ok. he is the best cover LB we have but i thought wilborn played good. safties played the run well need to work on the pass a bit and d line played very good compared to how they played last year. on surprise was how well hillis played he going to be excellent for us. i think the team is ready for big things just need to stay healthy and will a little luck it should happen. one more thing. shanny should consider someone else to return punts and kicks because royal is way to important as a wr and eventually he is going to get blown up on special teams and we cant afford to loose him.
theovango is totally right… if Clady hadn’t been a rock solid wall for Cutler we would have been just as bad as the Raiders, thank God he proved us wrong!!!! So a BIG THANK YOU to Clady for doing your job and job well done mister!!!! I am still speechless at how GREAT we were – I just hope it continues and these guys don’t get cocky about one game and start acting like a bunch of boogers and start losing a bunch of games. If that happens we got a serious problem BUT I don’t think it will. I believe this young team will use this win as motivation to continue a winning streak like we’ve started.
And not just to win but to play AWESOME like they did last night. It was almost shocking to me to see the Broncos play so dominantly because last year we were the total opposite. On the other hand we were playing against Oakland which has never really been a real good solid team so I hope when it comes to games like against the Poopers… oh sorry I meant Chargers
and New England that we are even better against them than we were last night. There is always room for improvement and last night was just ridiculous!!!
I think if Marshall had been in that game we would have slammed those Raiders into the ground even more than we did BUT if he had been in the game Royal probably wouldn’t have been given such a huge spotlight to show what he’s capable of… so I guess I’m saying that maybe this one game suspension Marshall had was a BIG blessing in disguise because we really did get to see how incredible Royal really is. I just hope he keeps getting chances like this to keep going and that his journey of scoring TD’s doesn’t end anytime soon. He’s like a human speeding bullet and it was totally awesome to watch. Alright, so I think I’ve written my novel for the day and again JOB WELL DONE, Orange & Blue!!!
41-14 – Talk about a smack in the face, HA HA HA!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!
The Raiders ran for 150 yards and averaged 4.8 yards per play. This includes the -15 yards as a result of the botcherd lateral. So, this looks like the Broncos haven’t progressed as far as it first appears. However, offsetting that is the fact that there were several third and long plays that the Raiders ran and made 5-10 yards on because the Broncos D dropped back to make sure that everything that happened happened in front of them. Sunday will tell the tale as the Chargers are far superior to the Raiders, especially in the O line and running game. It’s going to be a real barn burner.
How about giving a courage award to Andre Hall, who found out his mom passed away before the game? I can’t even imagine playing, especially play the way he did, after something like that. Give the man some credit for being a courageous teammate. Now, he should be with his family.
I saw Royal get interviewed after the game. What an intelligent and down to earth young man. I gather from his demeanor that he is not the type of individual to let this go to his head. He knows it takes hard work each week.
Glad to have you on the team Eddie. You have shown poise and professionalism at a young age and I admire that.
i agree with 07elway……the suspension was quiet the blessing in disguise…now we know whose playing beside Marshall all the way…..Hail to ROYALty….if he did that to Hall and Asomugha including Gibril,(and yes I remember hearing DeAngelo saying he and Asomugha make the best CB tandem in the NFL handsdown)..ahah.. imagine what he and B-Marsh can do to Jammer and Cromartie??i gat chills jst from thinking about it…
hats off to our unsung heroes:Clady, Hillis, and Engleberger…..
Cutler had all day to throw with Clady beside him, Hillis plowed the way for our RBs including picking up some huge gains, and Engleberger showed flashes of runstoppping power…he stopped a couple runs that i thought wouldve been blown for large gains…….
What a great debut Eddie!! An awesome performance!! I knew you would a great asset to our TEAM!! Now with B-Marsh back, Jay will have two of the best in the league !! Go Broncos!!
Wow what a awsome start For the Broncos season that what i like to see Royal was Great Jay was Awesome the O Line did great the D was great too. the only thing that bugs me is that we still don’t get any respect The Jets beat a 1-16 team last year and there the next Super bowl team. Yes i know we didn’t beat the greatest team. but we look like contenders too.
Im not really worried about the defense because the raiders were running in passing situations so they caught the d off guard, next week is going to be the true challenge facing LT and a good o line but i think Denver is going to pull through especialy since shawne isnt playing im really excited about this year all the stars are alligned i think Denver has a really good shot of making the playoffs as a division winner and not a wildcard. Royal Eddie wow talk about talent they played like seasoned vets. Now with B-marsh back this is going to be an explosive offense and with Boss back this is going to be a really good team.
eddie royal was being doubted i believe in an earler blog and i laughed then and i laugh now that guy is bad little man him and brandon are gonna be a sick combination for the cuter cutler cutin the air with deep bombs to b marshal and slants to eddie and stokes. this is looking good force the pass and denver is in the superbowl. #1 offense in the league baby!!!!
What a Game. Amazing credit to our Defense who played smart and solid. and yeah the Raiders have sucked hard the past few years but they do have two good RB’s and we still kept them at bay for the most part only until the fourth quarter when we already had the Game in the Bag. The Defensive preasure won this game for us caus ethat allowed our Cutler to know he could do what he wanted and didn’t have to worry about the Raiders possibly scoring on thier next possesion. Go Denver Defense and i am out on a limb here but i am gonna say it anyway…top 5 Defense in the NFL this year maybe??? think about it… We gat San diego on Sunday …if we shut them down…hhhmmmnnnn…. it will be lookin good.
Stay true to the Orange and Blue!!
Eddie Royal is not only a modern-day Eric Metcalf, he’s the offensive rookie of the year for sure, I believe. Keep it up, Eddie it was cool how you owned MeAngelo all night long.
