The Broncos opened the game with an eight-play, 45-yard drive that ended with a 53-yard Matt Prater field goal.

Quarterback Peyton Manning opened up the game with an 11-yard completion to tight end Joel Dreessen on the first play from scrimmage. Running back Willis McGahee picked up the next first down with a 12-yard rush.

The biggest gain of the drive — which lasted 3:00 — was a 16-yard completion from Manning to wideout Demaryius Thomas, moving the Broncos into 49er territory.
