Since the Broncos were the highest-seeded team to lose in the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs, the team’s coaching staff will head to Hawaii this week to coach the AFC’s All-Star squad.
Four Broncos are set to participate in the game, which kicks off at 2 p.m. HST on Sunday, Jan. 27.
Quarterback Peyton Manning, cornerback Champ Bailey, linebacker Von Miller and defensive end Elvis Dumervil will represent the Broncos on the field, while the Broncos’ coaching staff leads the team’s efforts from the sidelines.
Tackle Ryan Clady was selected to the team, but withdrew due to injury.
Chris Hall of Broncos TV will be making the trip to Hawaii as well so check DenverBroncos.com for coverage throughout the week.

Can we assume Adam Gase will be coaching his first game as an OC?
I think the other thing we can take away from the Ravens is they got pressure on Brady with just a 4 man rush. Even though they didn’t get a lot of sacks, they forced him to move, and got in his face and batted some balls down. We hardly can generate a pass rush with our front 4.
We’re they getting rid of the Pro Bowl?
We already learnt that last year tho. Thats why the giants could always beat the patriots … they had an inside rusher … which wolfe was supposed to be, or so we thought but he ended up being a DE as we all know Fox loves his edge rushers and pays no mind to the inside. Pierre Paul was the game changer against brady, both as a rusher and a tall DT to bat balls down. Kind of why we were hoping Brockers fell down to us. We are still in need of one. Along with a MLB and a Safety if u ask me.
Why would gase be the OC in the probowl OT? Isn’t it usually the losers from the conference championship coaches that do it? …. we only made it to divisional.

What do you call 53 men watching the Superbowl,
The Denver Broncos
and my comments are ignored due to a new blog. haha never fails
For what its worth RH i read em and agree with it to an extent. Coaches can only coach so much it is up to players to execute … however our game plan was weak, and play calling conservative. Not even sure how many we sent at flacco. Felt like i say Miller drop back alot at times. getting beat deep 3 times should have led to an adjustment by either fox or Del Rio before the fourth and final one. Minus there deep passes they did virtually nothing against us. U would stand to think on the final down, we would have had everyone playing off and dropping deep and letting the underneath routes happen. They needed a td and had no time outs. They catch in the middle of the field, its over. It was 3rd down too for goodness sakes. Maybe they were focusing on stopping a first down. Bad call in my book but i suppose they know this now in retrospect. Champ is amazing but what he got beat by was pure speed. Young legs beat old legs everytime, Wasnt a coverage skill issue. On the second TD champ had fantastic coverage on the sideline but torrey made a great play. Lot of things went wrong, can’t blame champ, or rahim, or the entire D for giving up more points and yardage than ever, or the number 1 sack team for not even getting to the QB or manning turning over, or the bs PI calls on us that gave them second life twice, once on carter on 3rd down which led to first TD and again on champ on 3rd down im OT when he had fantastic coverage or Mannign turning the ball over more than ever or the fact that Decker was pass interfered on INT returned for a TD … everything that could go wrong did … and it was a team loss. There is no way u return 2 TDs and lose in the NFL. We were/are the best team the the AFC … Just didn’t play like it. Better luck next year. Hope they learned.

The coach gets too much credit and too much blame, just goes with the job I guess.
Another big question is our lack of ability to run out the clock to begin with.
Weather Miller rushes or drops is often dictated by the offensive personnel. When it isnt an obvious passing down Miller is the SLB not a DE. Usually we go up by 2 scores and force the other team to be one dimensional which is when the Wolfes are let loose. If Prater makes that FG, we go up by 2 scores.
I also think Fox is conservative but there is only so much he can do. our guys up front got handled and that led to all the deap stuff. Couple that with some bad breaks and its over. This loss wasnt so much bad coaching but bad execution.
We lost Moreno by then and Hilman just isnt built to get tough yards against a stacked box. In that case the need to adapt applies. Let Manning throw a quick slant on second down when the defense is expecting run. This situation applies to the bad coaching/conservative adage. however this doesnt lead me to believe Fox cant win big games the way some people do.
Agree, we were/are the best team in the AFC.
btw you know its a terrible ref crew when they allow a team to practice a FG on the field during commercial break. That is some BS right there.
They showed him practicing, Champ was standing there like “c’mon man,” he should of just stood in the way of the kick or tried to block it. haha
I’m sure the league will take a look at that. It isn’t a penalty but it isn’t allowed either. I’m sure it will be a cause for the rules committee to look into that more.
TRB – the article above says the teams coaching staff will go to Hawaii to coach the AFC in the Pro Bowl. Perhaps Stuart can clarify if that includes Gase, and if so, will he be at offensive coordinator?
I’m not sure if coaching the Pro Bowl is considered an honor or a consolation.
It’s like, well you blew it in the playoffs and you’re not going to the SB, but here, come coach a bunch of players in a game that means nothing except dollar signs, and enjoy the nice weather.
I agree completely, the Pro Bowl is a joke. I only ask about Gase, because if he is in fact coaching his first game as an OC, it would be some good experience for him.
RH I am one who is highly critical of fox in that game and your comments (on the previous blog) are not proving what I say wrong nor does it make the belief fox blew it short sighted at all. You just mentioned mistakes made which happens every game and I’m talking a game called in a way that prevented us from overcoming those mistakes. The criticism of fox is justified my friend and you’re points do nothing to discredit it. Of course you’re definitely not wrong in your assessment of the game and I’d even say you’re absolutely right on those points just don’t say our opinion is short sighted because its not. At all.
I’m not saying fox should go or anything like that btw I think he’s a good coach I just hope he doesn’t make the same mistakes next year. I also think the refs in that game were terrible! Missed calls hurt us but that game should’ve been called very differently IMO. Of course I could be wrong but i cannot say it enough- we would’ve won that game if it was called different. I firmly believe that. I also am excited about next year and am optimistic about our team overall. the next 2 years are gonna be super bowl years and I cannot wait!
Oh and the pro bowl is on life support and I think this very well may be the last one so ill be watching it personally. I’m out guys have a good one!!!
lol OT you are right … i didnt even read the article .. i was wondering where u got that from lol. I always thought it was a consolation price to the coaching staff that looses the conference championships … guess not. Or maybe that was when, the probowl was AFTER the superbowl … now that its before maybe the “honor” goes to Divisional losers coaching staff. But good question

“Since the Broncos were the highest-seeded team to lose in the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs”
well that explains the new way its done. All my confusion coulda been avoided if i just read the darn article lol

I agree he is too conservative but I dont think this loss was becauuse of that conservatism.
The loss wasn’t all on his conservatism but as long as you always play to not lose the game … instead of play to win the game … you will most likely lose. Everything had gone well on the 11 game win streak … great game plan, great execution. No real tough calls needed to be made … but you gotta adapt and play to win when the game is tight. Ill never give him a pass for kneeling before end of game. (was even more mad when he blew a timeout right before the final punt in regulation) .. to me it was like “NO! u never know when u gonna need a timeout. instead of 2 timeouts with 31 seconds left. We could have had 3 timeouts with 31 seconds left. Thats very doable in my book. But we knelt when we were fully aware that they had scored on us in like 3 plays like twice in the same game. I wouldn’t have risked my victory on a coin toss in OT. But the D held and we had our chances in OT … just aint pull it off.

test
Lou and TRB, thanks for doing all the leg work for me, I don’t feel like typing today, much appreciated. Man was it nice on the lake today, almost 70 degrees and no wind at all, super smooth cruising day on the orange crush, she ran better than our team LOL.
Aww man, 70 degrees sounds fabulous.
It’s -30 w/ the windchill in South Dakota…anyone want some of that?!?
@brian; -30?!!! wow!!!
since were on weather talks. its about mid 80s down here and breezing winds are picking up…
Its time to move Wolfe inside!!! draft a long and powerful DE….1st round caliber
We need a DT, MLB, S, and DE along with a Slot/WR. Grab the Slot in FA I’d say. IMO
Its 50 degrees here in Colorado and no clouds in sight. Its really nice out today. And tomorrow calls for 60.
Yes I can blame Champ. He’s been around long enough to know who he can cover & who he can’t. All he has to do is tell a coach so they can put someone younger & faster. Yes I can blame Fox. He’s so conservative he stinks. Why didn’t he let Manning pass the ball on 3rd down to try & get a 1st down so we could run out the clock. All this in regulation play. Didn’t he trust Manning to pass the ball. If we got the first down we win the game. He knows that we weren’t running the ball very well at the time & he chose to run the ball anyway. Bad Call!
I forgot something. Champ does not belong in the Pro Bowl. Not because of the way he play against the Ravens but he didn’t play very well all year.
Its high 70′s by the beach in socal. Not a cloud in the sky. Lol.
I’ll enjoy watching the Broncos’ coaching staff in the Pro Bowl. The AFC will get a 7 point lead, then try to run out the clock. Should be an exciting game.
no longer are the days of the giant MLBs.. we see smaller faster backers making a lot of plays this season..most notably Bobby Wagner of the seahawks… but also ones with a lot of instinct and power..
we really do need another pass rushing DE opposite Dumerville so that anywhere you put Miller he’ll be freed up.. IMO
That’s so funny 009, glad to see so many of you guys speaking your mind keeping the blog entertaining, thank you.
Haha Champ not playing well. He may not have been himself but he still played well. Comical.
This is been the most back and forth blogging this year! Its hard to pay attention in here when everything was going so well! I assume next year will be like this year during the regular season, which is truly welcomed!! I will say that I do agree with RH709 for the games assessment this time though. I will say, I wish it was 70 degrees here…
I got over the loss and am happy to move on to FA and the draft. I have the utmost confidence in the staff to sign the guys we need. With QCarter coming back, Id say keep Adams and Bruton. We are fine at Safety. If leonard will stay for league min, no need to let him go either.
Its time to move on already.
We could bring Tebow back! I think that went on all season!
If we do go after a Safety in FA I’m vying for Jairus Byrd. He didn’t allow a TD this year and is a smart ball-hawk. He’s a young 26 years old and has all the tools a S should have. If I could pick just one player in FA to go after this guy is it. IMO
I’m going on the draft Eddie Lacy campaign in the first round. He reminds me of a young up and coming Marshall Faulk. Foxy is known to draft RB’s in the 1st round, so thats were I’m going. Its early but I don’t care.
My 2 cents for tonight.
Am I the only one who noticed that Smith left the first game vs us early and didn’t return. Yet explodes all on us the 2nd meeting!! The coaches didn’t adjust bc the first meeting didn’t give us a full gauge on us vs the Ravens leading up to the playoff game. So people say Champ held Smith to one catch for 14 yards, ummmmmm yeah bc Smith was out after the injury.
The Ravens offense also had time to adjust to Caldwells play calling and again our coaches didn’t adjust. I think next season the offense should practice in no huddle mode every play so the defense can get use to it. I expect us to see that a lot next year. Especially when we play the Farters I mean Chargers.
Man I wish we would’ve stole Pierre Thomas from the Saints. He’s a great runner between the tackles as well as outside. Strong, break tackles, keeps the pile moving, and is even better in the passing game.
The coaches did adjust.Moore was back there the second half. he just srewed up the last one.
Caldwell didnt do too much different. they readjusted their front line and that seemed to work pretty well. The plays were pretty much the same.
I’ll give you that, the plays were somewhat the same but our coaches couldn’t see that Flacco was only throwing to his right, to his right, to his right, over the middle, to his right. Oh wait here’s a shocker Flacco is throwing to his right.
Ok. so what would you have suggested?
Bring pressure coming from the right side. Force him to move around and especially to his left. The Ravens D forced Manning to move around and make him uncomfortable. Our D was built to bring pressure when we have a lead. Also feel like we get away from our gameplan way too quick.
The 9ers were down 17-0 vs the Falcons and Harbraugh (whatever it is) stuck with the gameplan of running the ball.
You are correct. The 9eres kept running. However the first two series they hadn’t tried the pistol formation read option save for one play. That one play went for the longest yardage.
Once they were down 17-0 they upped the pistol offense, running about 5-8 plays of it to jumpstar the offense. Even after that, it was roughly 75% of the offense. Seemed like they had another idea from the start but scrapped it when the game got out of hand.
Denver stuck with its normal plan. Smith beat champ a few times at the line and had a step on him. Normally our defense gets enough pressure that the one step doesnt mean much. The Ravens line was much improved. The second half, Moore was moved to help Bailey but the one play still happened.
Without going up on the Ravens, they were able to keep both the run game and the play action which kept our defense from pinning their ears back.
Tough break but I think the coaches did the right thing save for a few instances.
