The Broncos signed free agent offensive lineman Tony Hills Tuesday, who was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers. To make room for Hills, the Broncos waived tackle Herb Taylor.
Hills, a fourth-round pick by the Steelers in 2008, played in four games last season for Pittsburgh. The 6-foot-5, 304-pound tackle was a standout at the University of Texas, where he played in 42 career games and made 24 consecutive starts.

Bones,
Xanders was given a pass because apparently McDaniels usurped everyones jobs and got what he wanted. With his all might shanny powers. So Xanders kinda escaped houdini style … but he is on the bubble but he truly wants to prove that he can do the job when a kid is not messing up his flow. Time will tell … this draft looks good already … but is that cuz of xanders or Elway, Fox, and new staff??? hmmm… TRB
Who is the REAL fan???
One who opines about his preference for a QB….?
Or one who accuses the other fan of “not really bing a fan” beacuse he doesn’t agree with the fellow fans choice for QB???
It always is just an ugly statement to say “you not a real fan” to a fellow Bronco Brother just because we don’t agree….
It huts me inside my Big Bronco Heart everytime I see that kind of comment…. shucks… We can dissagree and still be family you know….
I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCO FANS!!!!!! Agree or Disagree!!!!
I know I need patience. You see guys, maybe my shock therapy is finally starting to work.. Gotta go because the Situation is about to get jacked up by Ronnie. Late
Yes, thank you armadillo_orton …. We needed shock theropy…..
I thought the entire Bronco Country was going to fall asleep behind the Wheel of Orton for a while…….LOL
ILMSDB!!!
My guess for MNF score is denver 27 oakland 24 in a close game
We all know we can agree to disagree about anything to do with the Broncos, but I agree with OC,I never question a fan’s loyalty because of a difference of opinion,we are all Bronco family on here, and I’m sorry we got baited back into the QQ,I respect most people on here!
armadillo, too much drama on that stupid Jersey Shore, that’s why I let the wifey watch it,while I watch something else!
You might wanna try that,lol.
GRRRRR…. Tired of all the QB nonsense!!! Here’s my plan: Trade Orton, let him go pad a field goal kicker’s stats somewhere else. Give Quinn to the Raiders for free, that way he can throw the ball to our guys for a couple games a season. Waive Tebow and let him be the next greatest 3/4-back. For those for whom math isn’t a strong suit, that’s a quarterback + a halfback. ADAM WEBER is the FUTURE!!! Poor kid never gets any attention in this drama. He may be PS, but he’s available for use, dangit!
Crusher: point well taken. and armadillo. Much respect for not ripping into me after that tongue lashing. Cheers to all fans on here!!!
Once Carolina claims CB Darius Butler, there will be 13 players who went to camp with Patriots with other teams. They’ve become a farm team.
I knew he wouldn’t even get to us. Like I said, Carolinas CBs suck as well. TRB
Argh. Can;t wait for the 12th. I want to see Von Doom in the backfield every play, champ and moore get an interception each, Dawks causes a fumble, Dline dominates scrimmage, with Mays and Co hitting like cannon balls.
Go Broncos!! Von Doom!!
23-20
I’m glad you asked where I got my info armadillo.
http://www.denverbroncos.com/team/roster/Kyle-Orton/51835e42-1635-49f6-8de1-f3fc0e2cbc48
Truth is Orton isn’t as bad as many of you claim and Tebow isn’t as great as most say!!! (yet)
OC, since our 6-0 abberation, I haven’t been happy with anybody’s performance except Doom and Brandon Lloyd…
sndvl let’s hope we can add Miller and Magahee to your happy list!
Though, I am happy Elway came back for more 4th qtr comebacks. I’m happy I was wrong about PP and we drafted Von. I’m happy Rahim isn’t afraid to hit and draw a fine. I’m happy Orton wasn’t traded, thereby handing Tebow the job. I’m happy Ayers is being moved back to his natural spot. I’m happy Knowshow actually showed up and looks great being a lighter Knowshon. I’m happy we got Willis in FA and Franklin in the 2nd round. I’m happy that Clady and Dumervil are 100% healthy. I’m happy we have a ” players coach” whom the players seem to want to play for. I’m happy he’s a Dminded coach too. I’m happy we have Dennis Allen as our DC. We might actually have some stability there!!! And that makes me happy! I’m happy that we open on Monday night. With all eyes in Denver, as we close out an exciting first week of games, at the newly renamed Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. Which also makes me happy!
Let’s hope the season is full of happy!
GO BRONCOS in 2011, Return of the Mile High Magic!!!!!!!!!!!
(p.s- I’m happy Orton is our starter)
I hope to be happy like you sndvl…..
I just have to wait until after Monday night to get a better barometer on my Bronco emotions…..
Cheers to your happy Bronco enthusiasm….!!!
Bronc On Bro!!!
Did I mention how happy I am Champ resigned! Marcus Thomas too! I’m also happy DMT is making a fast recovery. Orton could definitely use a guy like that in the red zone. And that should make us ALL happy
You’ll get there OC, I’m sure of it!!!
We’ll see how happy we all are when the MNF game is over, and our Broncos rise from the ashes and claim victory over those stinkin’ Faders!
p.s. hope your boy don’t let you down.
I mentioned this the other day, but didn’t really have a chance to elaborate
Sunday afternoon on our way home we took my Uncle and his wife to Mile High. They’ve never been and wanted to get some pictures. Well, the crew was busy putting up the new Sports Authority sign at the south entrance. I noticed a gentleman messing around with a camera on a tripod and asked him what it was for. He told me they are doing a time lapse on the sign installation and have 3 separate cameras. One in the parking lot, the one by the steps of the south entrance and a 3rd attached to a beam where the workers are making the magic happen. He informed me they may use footage in a commercial or various other promotions. He also said they are supposed to have an official unveiling with Elway and company on Thursday!
It would be really cool if blog administration could provide a link or any information on video of that process. That would definitely make me happy. Along with my fellow Broncos Country citizens! Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!
Us BFE. Let’s hope OUR QB doesn’t let US down!
For those who don’t go to NFL.com much. Miller is featured on the homepage on another episode of something to prove or watever its called. Its about adjusting to the mile high air. TRB
Haven’t been happy with this team since the 6-0 start a few years ago (right before our last nightmare decided to change the defense to what NE calls and shoveled our seasons into the manure pit). But this year seems like we are at least on track to being competative again if not downright good by the end of the season. In that mindset I predict we spank the raiders and leave em crying.
Broncos 23 – 13.
sndvl – I’m happy about the very same things you are … GO BRONCOS!!!!
haha, sndvl, while reading your 8:53 post I started to think it was thanksgiving or a second.
I am thankful for Von DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!
Go Broncos!!
For a second*
Good Morning Everyone………..
Looks like a decent signing here……….anything to get a little depth on our roster. Being released by a team like the steelers is not really a knock on his ability to play, IMO.
So many great match-ups for week 1 of the season.
As sad as it might sound………I think this first game is essentially a must-win for us. Another loss at home against the faders and the entire locker room’s optimism will sink faster than the Titanic. A win will build some confidence.
But then again, every week will be a must-win for us this season….lol
When you’re opening on MNF in your own backyard against a division opponent, you have to be jacked up and ready to go. That always starts with a quick 3 and out on the defense or a nice TD scoring drive by the offense.
I think we all need to step away from the QB thing for a while. I’m all for stirring the pot but everyone is blowing this thing way out of proportion. Ever since Orton got here he really hasn’t had a decent running game or defense. Orton plays his best football with those two things. We all know he’s not going to win a lot of games by himself. I think as we all want Tebow to have a chance I think Orton deserves a chance to. He’s got to prove himself just as much as Tebow does. I was against drafting Tebow but we did. I was against letting him play we did. That’s when I saw he had some potential. Then I wanted him to start this year but he isn’t and even if we weren’t going to trade Orton I thought Tebow should get a shot to start. Orton is the starting QB and there is nothing we can do about it. Besides there are 21 other guys that need to play well also.
There are three things certain in life…Death…Taxes…and the HC and QB will always take the praise and blame whether they deserve it or not.
Oh yeah, don’t know too much about Hills. Seems like he has good size and hopefully can add depth.
I’m Happy I read sndvl 8:53 post!
TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !
GO BRONCOS ! ! !
sndvl, your beaming happiness is contagious! I love it! I’ll tell you the two things that will make me happy: Mr. Campbell making the aquaintance of Mr. Miller and Mr. Dumervil, and Mr. McFadden getting absolutely crushed by my man Mr. Mays! Can’t wait for MNF! Semper Broncos!!
monodono: Good to see you here. How’s the fishing been? TOP all the way brother.
RabidOrange: You’re absolutely right. It will be great to see those things and an improved running game. I was trying to McGahee on my fantasy team cause I think he’s gonna be a beast around the goal line.
GO BRONCOS!!!! The Orange Crush Lives!!! South Stands Forever!!
*get McGahee
Glad to see my comment “not really being a fan” is still on some of your minds. The reason the old mile high was probably the toughest place for any visiting team to play wasn’t just the altitude, it was the rabid love of the Bronco fans that teams feared and dreaded. Unlike today , there were few occasions when the Broncos got boo’ed by their own fans. Our team can grow faster and stronger with support and unwavering faith in the players, coaches and front office. To get what we want, to get a championship team we have to support all elements of the organization. The Raiders or any other team have little chance of beating our Broncos if they have to face 60,000 rabid fans. Fans that scream even louder for their team when they make a bad play. The opposition has no answer for that, they don’t stand a chance against Bronco fans when they stand together and cheer for their team. If we have that at mile high this season, who’s gonna beat us at home? Go Broncos!
imready completely agree. If we could get our home field advantage back we would again be close to knocking on the post season door.
If you can get 7 or 8 wins at home any schedule you face should at least leave 3 to 4 opportunities to win away. A record of 10 wins will nearly always get you to the playoffs.
Come on boys go mad on monday nite. We should be making so much noise that the raiders QB should have to pass a note round in the huddle to call a play.
The fan base is too torn to unite and stand together. Winning…..winning is what we need to re-unite the fan base.
imready: You are absolutely right. I was shocked to come home from active duty military to find a dossile mile high crowd. I’ve been trying to get some chants going in the stadium like DOOOOOOOOOOOM! but I cant get them to catch on. While that’s not original as pointed out by baylinorcrush it could still be one of those things that revives the mile high magic. We need it….bad. Until the boys start winning that’s not gonna happen. I know many people who are or already have sold thier tix….to anyone. That means opposing teams fan will occupy the place this year more than ever. That’s an abomination in my eyes. Let’s retake mile high!!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!! The Orange Crush Lives!!! South Stands Forever!!
well said Brian
I do also think that the economy has hurt the fan base as well.
I would love to be able to go to the games, so I’m somewhat jelous of the ones that live close enough to go to them. Its not the chant that makes the Mile High Magic, its the fans that make it. A chant like DOOOOOM while maybe not original, but chanted by all the fans that’s what makes it magical. Getting all the fans to chant the same thing no matter what it is, that’s the magic. Like imready said that’s when the magic really starts to hapen.
I’ll chant it..I’ll chant it in my living room even.
DOOOOOOOOM!
sndvl post reminded me of everything I used to defend Orton in the past. (pre-Tebow). I defended him again last night at work with the same. Overall the man won’t lose the game. And right now, that is about the most I can hopeful. Now that we are looking to regain some lost traction. Let’s see what happens.
This year the Broncos are going to make a push to get into the playoffs because we finally have momentum and good fortune buzzing right now. SNDVL described the vibe as happy, how does magical sound? Broncos 24- Jokeland 17
That’s the spirit Brian!!!! Also that’s my point. I had a lady ask me to sit down once when it was late in the game the defense was on the field and it was 3rd down and we needed a stop. Unbeleivable!!!! I did not sit. I told her to get up!!! If you want to sit and have wine and cheese then stay home. If you want to have pretzels, hot dogs and beer then get ‘er done and cheer loud and hard. I can remember in the ’70s when we stunk and the fans still rocked mile high. LOUD!!!
Clash of the Black and Orange…..
It’s Big, It’s Black, its Ugly and it’s Real Stinky!!! It is the giant dark cesspool cloud of Raider fans that come buzzing and oozing up a Mile High from the depths of who knows where, from under what turds and sewer sumps they crawl, no one knows… But they come, and they come like droves of zombies….
Only the Steeler fans can rival the Raiders fans in the Investation (Invesco-Infestation) that has permeated the New Mile High for years now….
I was there for last year’s Black Sunday game against the Raiders and was appalled and overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of Raider fans that invaded the Denver metro area. We went early to have a beer at a place just outside the stadium on Federal Blvd. and I could not believe how many Raider fans were there and all around the place. Bronco fans were outnumbered 2 to 1 in that pub. Even when we got into the stadium it seemed almost like it was a 50-50 split of Black and Orange… It was like Halloween…
Then the game was like the Raiders defense was Michael Myers and Orton was Jamie Lee Curtis….
On the other side of the ball it was like the Denver defense was the bald guy who kept shooting Michael Myers and missing every time…..
When the final seconds ticked off the clock in that nightmare it was 99.99% BLACK in Mile High. There were only two small Orange Specs in the Black Mass of Raider Thugs exiting the House That Elway Built…. (Me and Sndvl)………lol
Ah, but that was ten months ago and we have a new Stadium Name now, and a new HC and new Mgmt. and Orton is much improved and won’t throw a pick-6 on the first play and we will have McGahee to score in the red zone and McCoy won’t call the same stupid run up the middle on 3rd down every time and Doom and Von will be there to pressure the QB and we will have a chance to avoid Black Monday and make it Orange Monday!!!!!………..Right…..?
(As I cross my fingers on both hands, knock on wood and pitch salt over my shoulder)….
I will have to see it to believe it….
Until the Broncos defeat the Raiders at home and prove to me that they ARE the Authority of Sports at Mile High Stadium……….?
I will have to stay home and watch the big flat screen with both hands over my eyes, peeking through my fingers and hoping that Michael Myers doesn’t show up to skin Orton alive and eat his raw gizzard while throngs of Black Pirate Muggers raid our ship…again…!
Broncos 17
Black Pirate Muggers 20
ILMSDB!!! Win or Lose
Orton is much improved…..where and when?
Until he improves in the red zone and can break a tackle,I don’t see any improvements, just me!
I think that black cloud is still looming over you bro,and remembering what happened on Black Sunday still looms in the back of your mind,it’s ok buddy were here,it’ll be ok.
I’ll agree with you on everything you said except for Orton improving and McCoy not calling the same plays,I’ll have to see it to believe it,I hope you’re right!
I can’t help it I’m a Tebowmaniac,it dosen’t mean I’m not a team player (it takes a whole team effort to win),but I still want to see him get his shot,is that so wrong,I hope Orton is the best QB in the NFL this year, but I’ll not hold my breath!
BFE, I concur.
I’ll one up you TRB……..
I BELIEVE THAT TEBOW COULD WIN MORE GAMES FOR US THAN THE TWO OTHER QB’S ON OUR TEAM…..
hows that for Tebow support….
sorry
I mean BFE……lol
haha … I do too OC … i believe he can or die trying lol. Alas we will have to watch snorton put us to sleep lol. Hopefully he succeeds. Won’t do us any good since he is a free man and will play the field this offseason, but at least we will have an improved record this year … I suppose that is a good thing. But whats a better record if u don’t win it all compared to valuable experience for u know who. All it will do is get us a middle round draft pick lol. TRB
I would like to say something here. First, I will be the first to admit that I am a huge fan of Tebow. Second, I will also be one of the first to say that he, along with Quinn or Weber had a fair shot at this “competition” that supposedly took place during training camp.
With this said, I personally would like for all that have not spent the past 4 months on here with those of us that endured the lockout every day to please take the time to go back and read over all of the blogs during that time. This QQ point has been dissected in every way possible, including stats from past as well as present quarterbacks for comparison to all of their first seasons and first three games they all played, and it will give all of you the views of each and every one of us.
Now my personal opinion on what is ahead. Orton is our quarterback. Do I like it…no, but I am a Bronco maniac and he is our quarterback. I fully believe that he will do better this year than last year. He has a better line in front of him as well as a defense that will get him and the offense on the field a lot more than they were last year. This is why back on the first day of the competition for the season I entered what I did. Also, I feel that he will do much better than last year because he knows this is the last year of his contract and if he does not, then his value will not be worth spit.
I suggest to all that we support the team, EFX and the organization. It will keep all of us a lot healthier, not to mention keeping our sanity.
Now, if Orton goes out the first few games and displays his true self, meaning his red zone and other deficiencies, then everyone needs to know that the gloves will be off so to speak. At that point I really doubt EFX will be able to stand what they hear and read in this blog as well as the media.
DO BRONCOS…GO GET EM VON-DOOM!!!
