Broncos Sign Nine to Future Contracts

January 16th, 2012 - 5:00pm by Stuart Zaas

The Broncos announced the signing of nine players to future contracts on Monday. Those players include all eight practice squad members — DE Jeremy Beal, T Adam Grant, TE Cornelius Ingram, RB Xavier Omon, WR Greg Orton, DT Sealver Siliga, WR Tim Toone and QB Adam Weber.

In addition to the eight practice squad members, the team also announced the signing of wide receiver Tyler Grisham. Grisham spent the 2010 and ’11 seasons on Pittsburgh’s practice squad after appearing in four games with the Steelers in ’09, catching one pass for 14 yards.

Below are the photos of the nine players signed today:

Ive waited till the storm was over.. THAT WAS AN AMAZING RIDE! thank you Broncos… Hungrier for next season.
Im happy to hear Elway is willing to help tebow personally w/ mechanics.

Proud to hear Miller and Harris on All-Rookie team..Pretty soon Harris will be CB who will be gameplanned against no doubt,..

    Lets Talk Draft…

Our D-Line push was very disappointing. and OL wasnt great at all. so much abuse on the line.

Lets get it fixed. Bruton missed a lot of open field tackles..

We needed a Big Hitter in the backfield to lay out Gronk,…

Darn would love to see Manti Teo’ in a Bronco uniform…

Has anyone ever said anything on the blog so unreal that it disqualified them from future conversations?

I mean something so unbelievably absurd that it simply makes you shake your head and feel for them… because they lack that much understanding…

Show of hands please… how many people on this blog believe that Cry-Baby Cutler is a better leader that Tim Tebow? anyone besides the resident Clown-Fish?

  8. socalbigbroncofan says:

turtle what r u talking about.

  9. Bronco_Turtle says:

Earlier I posted a comment about Tebow being a better ‘Leader’ than 90% of the QB’s in the league…

that led to a couple back and fourth posts that led to the math being established that there are actually a minimum of 96 QB’s under some sort of Contract during the course of the season and that led to me challenging someone to name ten better ‘leaders’

‘Someone’ took acception, and tried… 4 were complete strikes and then he added Cry-Baby Cutler on their list… thusly demonstrating a very scary football IQ…

so I asked the question… in all fairness, who here Believes that Cutler is a better Leader than Tebow?

  10. socalbigbroncofan says:

turtle, i am a big tebow supporter. and like the way u back him up but sometimes u come on too strong like tebow haters. tebow is a touchy subject. it seems that weather u support him or dont as long as u dont push ur opinion on others youll get less arguments. life is too short to argue, especially with fellow broncos bros. just my opinion. so heres to Tebow 2012 and Broncos 2012.

  11. Bronco_Turtle says:

    Just me venting frustrations…

Nothing important… We had a good season, I will slowly simmer down, and I won’t feel the need to bang my head on the wall that is this blog…

Obviously some of us share the same character types but different viewpoints…

Like I have said many times, I hope nobody takes me too seriously… The Broncos make me happy… and sad… and crazy… cause i’m a standard spoiled, egotistical, degenerate american type sports fan that attaches silly personal emotion to things that should simply be enjoyed… It’s complicated, and simple…

I just don’t like hearing blah blah Tebow can’t… All QB’s struggle in year one, and most in year two… some struggle until year 6 (Alex Smith)…

    Silly and pointless… I’m letting it go… :o

Cheers Socal… I do tend to get a little overboard… It has been a real learning process to understand the nature of the human monkey that is me, and to control the urges to take shots and trying to be Alpha always… Cowboy Culture perpetuates this and I can only imagine what a stubborn ignorant pain I was when I started college so long ago… I had one professor so frustrated he dismissed class because I talked him in a big circle until he proved my point, and I took pleasure in it… that was silly, as I’m sure he had a lesson to teach and I was to blind to see it…

Sports attrack that type of person, and that leads to the lively conversation… You are 100% correct and I don’t always use the right approach to make a point… I will try harder to be more diplomatic

  13. Bronco_Turtle says:

Anyway… minor football thought, I think Beal will be productive for this team in the next couple years.

I promise no more Tebow Talk from me… No more snapping Turtle…

I do have a draft board prepared that I will share some of later when I have more time… I’m excited for that contest, and for the whole normal offseason process…

McCoy and Allen still interviewing for HC jobs so I’m crossing my fingers that they stay, but if they get the chance to be HC’s I wish them the best of luck! Take advantage of your opportunities! Thank you for a Playoff win

    Turtle

For what its worth Bro, I didn’t even bother addressing the fact that he named Cutler a better leader and this is coming from a guy who never wanted him to be traded. (Better arm and passer as it stands, no doubt) … same person that said no one came to TTs defense when suggs lashed out and that the lockerroom doesn’t believe he will have a job when there is proof contrary to that fact. Let him spread his propaganda .. you will sleep alot better at night if you let it go. Some people just only see facts that support thier stance. At the end of the day he isn’t making the decisions. None of us are. Our boy has the job and its his to lose. Thats the simple fact in all of this.

Rams will interview Hue Jackson for OC … darn … looks like McCoy isn’t getting that job fast enough. HC Fisher, DC Gregg Williams, OC Hue Jackson … they might have themselves a squad, especially with such high picks and the kinda season they had in 2010 before McDaniels put his stink all over them this year.

  18. killerkod says:

    Morning Everyone……….

Well, another broncos season has come and gone like the blink of an eye……………and I’ve enjoyed it immensely. Yes, it was a crazy roller coaster ride, full of crazy highs and insanely crazy lows. I don’t think a season has toyed with my emotions as much as this one.

Not here to bash TT……….Like I’ve said all along, I’m not a hater…………intangibles can only take you so far before the mechanics and skill need to show up. I’m not completely sold on the guy yet.

But his hard work and effort this season has at least shown he might have the potential to be the franchise QB. I fully support giving him the entire off-season to come into training camp and prove that he’s made significant strides.

But if we’re five games into the season and we haven’t seen much improvement, I’ll be the first on bandwagon to demand a change at QB…….just as we all knew that Orton wasn’t the answer this past year and we all wanted change.

All I want is for our TEAM to be competitive and get back to the playoffs with a record better than 8-8 this time…………

    GO BRONCOS!

  19. killerkod says:

And I’ll be on the blog throughout the entire year this season………even if I won’t know what the heck I’m talking about as I do not follow college football whatsoever so the draft to me is essentially like an unknown entity. Will be leaning on all of your expertise to keep in the loop on the draft.

  20. brian_schneider says:

Well we added 4 more wins previous to last year so maybe this next season we could add 4 more to our win total this year and end up 12-4?

  21. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Just so you know Kod, I don’t watch college football but I enjoy getting in the mix none the less. I don’t have as much insight as those who have followed some of these kids since their freshman year but with some research you can get caught up easily. If you wanna start it off right tho, you should watch the east west shrine game on the 21st and Senior Bowl on the 28th. Those are 2 good ways to start. And follow the combine, interviews, read up on them, check walter footballs thoughts, watch highlights on youtube, take a look into positions we may need and follow the news on people they think we will draft and voila. Won’t make you the foremost knowledge in the topic but if you want to get in on the maddness, thats pretty much all you need to do lol.

ps: Glad you got your handle back as well. I believe DB got his back as well.

And for those who don’t know … while not football related, tommorow is dark wednesday so there will be no google, no amazon, no wikipedia … just to name a few powerhouses. In protest of SOPA and PIPA.

    Later days, TRB

  22. carnagebronc says:

Clown Fish huh….well…look at the Bears…with Cutler in the NFC championship without…out of playoffs….has made plays with NO legit receivers….Stafford has been behind what 4-6 games and brought his team back and generally against good competiton. You can fish for support. You believe in Tebow and I don’t. That’s all. I have been able to give him credit when he does well…but gosh….16 games and two seasons amd he still can’t throw…..but he obviously is the qb next year…there is no other choice…but he has to play better and I don’t think he can

  23. brian_schneider says:

Don’t get me wrong, I love America, and I love being a U.S citizen, as I was adopted from Korea, I love the freedoms and safety we have because of those who have served and died, but..sometimes I just hate our government and the people who run it. I mean you can teach a 3 year old right and wrong, how to share, and how to interact with other kids, but you can’t teach the government anything. You can blame it on Obama or whatever I think it is just a matter of the two sides not wanting to cooperate and it is hurting the American people and their wallets.

  24. OrangeTsunami says:

I just heard an edited audio piece that had all the times Tim Tebow’s name was mentioned during an hour long sports center before we lost, and it was sickening… It literally went on for minutes… Part of me feels bad for the guy.. I also heard that CBS is talking to Tebow’s people to get him in the booth this weekend as a guest host… I really hope he declines this and any other opportunities that will surely come his way this offseason.. Get off the grid, fly under the radar, and starting working to improve, b/c OTA’s and the media fire storm that will ensue will be here soon enough..

  25. killerkod says:

    Thanks TRB! I’ll do that!

Yup, I’m so glad to have my handle back. The response I got was that the admin working on the live blog said I was spamming and flaming. My understanding is that spamming is posting nonsense, or links etc. And flaming would be cursing and being rude and attacking others. I know what I typed, and even went back to read through all my posts and I didn’t see anything of the sort.

It really upset me though……..as it felt like a shot at my character. I take this blog seriously and always treat it, and the people on it with respect.

But oh well, it’s been corrected and I’m back online with my usual handle so let by-gones be by-gones.

  26. killerkod says:

name calling is not cool turtle…………we all have opinions and we’re all entitled to them…………

  27. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    I second that OT.

Brian, I have never seen such lack of cooperation in my life. All for personal adgendas and not for the country. It hurts to watch, especially now that Im old enough to truly understand what im seeing.

  28. killerkod says:

That’s one thing I can honestly say I don’t like about TT………and it’s not even his fault…….the media has made it all about TT and the Denver Broncos……….not the Denver Broncos and TT. He is only part of a team, not the entire team. Too much focus on him……..way too much hype and quite frankly I think he’s been a major distraction.

But again, this is not his fault one bit………..it’s what the media has made out of it.

I mean, what kind of media circus will ensue at the start of training camp next season? It’s not what this team needs.

  29. teddy502 says:

TT is the least of my woories for next season. We all see Timmy can throw accuracy a lil questionable but he does have a big arm. What i wanna see is how we get him some help. The recieving core we had this season was horrific, great blockers but dammit when a ball hits ur hands you gotta catch it. Its what you get paid for.

  30. OrangeTsunami says:

Carnage – it’s debatable who was a bigger loss for the Bears between Cutler and Forte… I agree they are a better team with Cutler than w/o, but it can also be argued that the NFC Championship appearance had a lot more to do with the Bears defense than Cutler.. In other words, it could theorized that the Bears won despite Cutler, not b/c of him..

  31. carnagebronc says:

Brian Westbrook….just asked if he would want Tebow as his qb of the future…he said no…because he can’t throw….it is an opinion thing….I wont disrespect people though…over the top.

As far as government….woow…all I can say about it

  32. 1nOnlyTRB says:

OT … the question was leader … not talent .. Bears lost his talent .. not his leadership in my opinion but wateva. Leadership is not exactly measurable by a ruler or anyhing.

I agree Killer. Felt bad for him. And he gets bashed for being all over the place like he asks to be. And all he ever does is give everyone else credit and like champ said “he handles it so well which makes it easier on us”. But in true media form … they used him and they used him dry to the point of the loss and then POOOF. Until when he is use again. Someone said on NFL.com that they didn’t see him Tebowing on the sideline when they were losing to the pats … im like hmmm u genius … has it occured to u that the producer is controlling when to show Tebow and when not to. For all they know he took a knee and was never shown. And the times it was shown … Im pretty sure he wasn’t on his knees the whole time on the sideline but that was the image the drove into peoples minds. I hope he gets a guy like the guy that taught BQ in the offseason the essentials. The problem is he does so many things. I hope he can find time because if he doesn’t find time he will struggle. He could probably use less time lifting and more time doing more QB things.

Teddy, They are 2nd year receivers getting lame ducks for Tebow and when they are spirals they spin the other way cuz he is left handed. It just takes getting used to. Something they didn’t have a chance to because orton was the starter. But as a proffesional receiver u touch it you catch it. They will get better. At least I believe they will. Orton was passing to an established Marshall and Brandon Lloyd. Those guys could catch anything.

    TRB

  33. OrangeTsunami says:

TRB – I agree Cutler is not a good leader, and he is a little selfish IMO.. But to be fair, if Tebow change, then maybe Cutler can change too.. ;)

There’s really no sense in discussing Tebow at the moment, b/c no matter where you stand, love him or hate him, we don’t have a lot of other options.. Given our draft position, together with the kids who decided to stay in school, we’ll have no chance at a good prospect short of selling our souls to move up… I don’t see the problem with addressing all the other team needs we have, and bring in a veteran FA (Jason Campbell) or resign Quinn.. If Tebow isn’t the guy, we give the Vet a chance and draft our guy in 2013, which will be a good QB draft class.. Plus, if we end up going that route, that kid will be steeping into that much more of a complete team… Seems like everyone should be satisfied with this scenario..

  34. killerkod says:

I believe the biggest holes we need to fill at this point is on the D side of the ball. We’ve got some great pieces, but man, do we ever need work.

  35. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree kk… Forget Tebow, we all need to look in the mirror about this defense.. We all got a false sense of what our D was this year, only to crash back down to reality against NE… I don’t know about anyone else, but I never want that feeling again, absolutely embarrassing… This is why I really hope we focus on defense this draft.. After all, this was why we brought Fox in, to fix the defense – now lets do it!

  36. killerkod says:

I believe I’ve read others say this in the past……….but what’s the thinking of moving Champ over to FS. I think he can have a major impact at this position. And while Goodie made a few nice plays this year, he got burnt more often than not………..so I don’t really want him on the corner next season. I believe his best days are behind him. Champ still has it though!

  37. Atwater4HOF says:

Finally over the loss on Saturday. Here’s my good and bad from the season in general.

    The Good: Offense
Beadles, Walton, and Franklin all too great strides forward this season and I think we have the best blend of talent and youth of any team in the league with our front five.

Decker and Thomas- both considered question marks this past offseason due to nagging injuries. Thomas, when healthy, proves to have the potential to be a top 5 receiver in the NFL. Decker looks like a great 65-75 catch number 2 wideout.

McGahee- while the wheels started to fall off towards the end, he was an absolute warrior for us and was clearly our offensive MVP

Tebow- provided great memories and leadership. This will be his make or break offseason and I’m excited to see what Elway can do with him.

    The Good: Defense
Bunkley and Ayers- Bunkley was the unsung hero of our team for most of the season. Ayers, showed that as a down linemen he’s much more effective and was surprisingly good against the run.

Von and Elvis- going in to next year will be the best pass rushing tandem in the NFL. The cast obviously effected Von and Elvis took a while to get going in the first half of the season.

Champ- Another great year. We are so used to his high level of play that it sometimes goes unnoticed.

Bruton- In my opinion should be a starter next year. Anyone who watched these past 3-4 games saw that he is a sure tackler and has great speed in pass coverage.

Prater and Colquitt- I wouldn’t trade these two for any other pair in the league right now. These guys should be Broncos for the next 10 years

  38. OrangeTsunami says:

This is why I really hope we can keep Dennis Allen.. Being a former secondary coach, this is right in his wheel house.. I agree about Goody, he’s overpaid and underperforms.. Problem is, thus far, this CB class is a bit shaky, after the two top guys, hopefully this changes as we get closer.. Of course you can luck out with another Harris, but how many CB’s have we drafted and missed on in the last couple of years… Tough position to fill

  39. TruBroncoFan says:

Turtle, you are right on in your assessment of Cutler, just for the record. I am a huge Tebow fan and supporter and those other guys are right about letting it go. You cannot reason w/ those who are too ignorant to talk sense to, so better to let it go. Tebow is a new QB, even though he’s been with the Broncos 2 seasons. First season doesn’t really count because he sat on the bench and only started like the last 3 games. To top it off, he had NO off season courtesy of the lockout, so… Glad we have TEBOW, he’s going to be great in 2012!!

  40. Atwater4HOF says:

    The Bad: Offense

Moreno- failed to win the starting job over McGahee and unfortunately I don’t think he’ll get another crack at it after his injury.

Larsen- He’s a warrior and I love to watch him play but he’s become very injury prone and I’d like to see us do something similiar to the Ravens and get a fullback on Vontae Leach caliber. It’s an underrated position in my eyes.

Royal and Willis- Combination of things but with their speed and agility, there’s no reason these guys are not getting more open out of the slot position.

Julius Thomas- failed to live up to his preseason hype. Still transitioning from basketball so all hope is not lost yet.

Linebackers down the stretch- DJ, Mays, and Woodyard were outstanding in the first 10 games of the year. Towards the end they were nowhere to be found and our rush D was getting gashed.

Moore and Carter- both looked very lost out on the field this year. Carter started to come on towards the end of the year but both were a disapointment overall.

  41. Atwater4HOF says:

I forgot Chris Harris under the good section. What a great job by our scouting department to get a guy like Harris as an undrafted free agent. He is relentless and has great potential going into next season.

  42. 1nOnlyTRB says:

HOF, And that was Bruton Playign with an Achilles Injury.

I think the next year there is a premiere top 10 safety we go for him. Trade up or watever … those seem to come once every 5 years. Missed the boat on Eric Berry. Last years class was avg and this years class is not to impressive either.

Defense is where we need to focus. Like I said, and I believe Bay said as well, this scheme brought the best out of avg players. I mean people were balling out in this D scheme … not because they were good … just great scheme. But the scheme couldn’t compensate for talent agaisnt the Patriots

Definitely need to sign Bunkley back. He was once a first round pick for a reason.

    TRB

  43. baylinorcrush says:

    Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, yaaawwnnn….

I wonder if the Tebow disciples who predicted a SB for us (not a single doubt in their mind), i.e. the blogger who called himself worldchampion in anticipation (haha), have realized by now that this isn’t High School or College….nah, they surely must be certain that this was an aberration and next year will be nothing but SB once again as long as Tebow remains the starter.

Glad all those blind faith folks are now seemingly gone from the blog so you guys can have somehow better conversations, but not much better so far you must admit, still stuck in the Tebow rut.

And if Tebow somehow makes it into the probowl because of things like Brady may be at the SB, that will be one more week of utter nonsense proclamations on here all over again, watch out!

Like with Tebow no way on Earth the AFC can lose the probowl, LMAO!!!

  44. killerkod says:

trubroncofan………ignorance is a pretty harsh word………people have an opinion about TT…………they either love him or loathe him or are in the middle like me. Having an opinion on a player is far from showing ignorance to conform to what some others seem to think.

If that were the case, then all the Tebownites can be considered ignorant for overlooking his horrible play at times and proclaim him the best thing since sliced bread.

You should choose your words more wisely.

    just sayin……………

  45. OrangeTsunami says:

Uggghh… Forgot about the pro bowl… I’m sure the NFL wants him there for ratings, in an otherwise meaningless and pointless “game”… I hope Tebow declines the invitation…

  46. Atwater4HOF says:

    TRB-

I agree with that. Bunkley and Thomas played well early but you could see them wearing down as the year progressed since McBean and Unrein were not effective when they came in on rotations.

I like the Brockers kid from LSU but his price tag might be too high. Not a fan of Still from PSU and would rather have Fletcher Cox if Brockers is gone

  47. OrangeTsunami says:

    If Tebow’s people are listening:

Keep this kid out of the headlines by NOT making planned public appearances, book signings, TV commercials, product endorsements, TV hosting, or whatever else would give him media attention… Give us Bronco fans a break! Please!

  48. Atwater4HOF says:

Part of me really wants to see us go after a guy like Micahel Floyd (WR Notre Dame). Too much injury history for Decker and Thomas to be satisfied with just those 2

  49. OrangeTsunami says:

And just say no to the Pro-Bowl… Just say NO!!!!

  50. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, the feeling of embarrassment we got from our D at year end is nothing new, we experienced the same thing in 2009 after the 6-0 start and back then Dawk and Bailey kept saying the problem was players started wanting to do too much and the end result was they didn’t respect their assignments any longer. This year, after the 6-0 Tebow winning stretch was floundering away, Bailey said he hoped that wasn’t the problem this year when asked, he was like seeing it happen all over again but did not want to accept it, and here we are, same thing happened, and that’s always what happens when you have a D short on talent, all the top guys try to do too much to help out the guys who have no business being there in the first place and we still have way too many of those. Like Elway said, it’s a 4 or 5 year ordeal (get enough talent implied) to get back on top of the league, we ignored the D for so long under Shanny and McD how would anyone expect anything any different.
