For the second year in a row, Broncos fans showed up in record numbers to watch training camp.
A total of 86,364 fans took in camp this year, breaking the previous record of 84,380 that was set in 2012.
This year’s figure was boosted by a record 44,439 that withstood the rain to watch the Broncos’ Summer Scrimmage at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, Aug. 3.
More than 40,000 fans got an up-close look at the team from the grassy hill alongside the team’s Dove Valley practice field, something that added extra energy to camp for the players.
After the conclusion of Thursday’s session, Broncos Owner and CEO Pat Bowlen and Head Coach John Fox joined players in signing autographs for the fans.
“(Our fans) are unbelievable,” Fox said after the team’s final practice of camp. “The epitome of that was our (Summer Scrimmage) down at the stadium when it poured down rain and they stuck around to see us play. We get great support. We’ve got maybe the best fans in the league.”
