Broncos Set Single-Season Home Attendance Record

January 4th, 2013 - 10:21am by Stuart Zaas

More fans watched the Broncos play in Denver this season than any other in the team’s history.

The Broncos set a home attendance record with a total of 613,062 fans packing Sports Authority Field at Mile High. That topped the previous mark of 612,893 that was set in 2007.

That home-field advantage spurred the team to a 7-1 record at home this year — and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

The strong regular-season showing came on the heels of a record-setting training camp. A total of 84,380 fans took in the team’s 16 open practices, which nearly doubled the previous record of 45,124 that was set in 2011.

The Broncos’ road attendance of 544,717 fans ranked fifth in franchise history. Overall, 1,157,779 people watched the Broncos play live and in-person this year, with that total representing the third-most in team annals.

With the Broncos securing the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, the road to New Orleans comes through Denver, where the team will be looking for their fans to amp up their intensity for the playoffs.

“We’re going to need the crowd to be as loud as ever,” defensive end Elvis Dumervil said. “As we practice it and get better, hopefully the fans are practicing getting louder.”

Lets keep it up for the playoffs!!!! Way to go to every Denver fan who was in attendance of any bronco game this season! 12th man!

  2. RH709 says:

I made that point too Doom. Get loud Denver, your team needs you!

  3. alaskanbronco06 says:

If/when we play the Pats in the AFC championship game the fan base needs to be loud. AS loud as they can get. Rattle that offense and they struggle.

  4. sndvl says:

    Nice job!

    Broncos Country Strong for sure!!!

  5. RH709 says:

I’m expecting NE to come in with hand signals and/or sideline place cards so they can still try to do the frantic speed no-huddle even if it is loud.

  6. RH709 says:

But even still, getting loud can cause lots of false start penalties. So get loud Denver.

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

I think NE will have to slow down some. Wont be able to run that frantic speed without tiring themselves out in Denver.

  8. sndvl says:

The altitude will play a factor in that… Plus they showed their hand. Von won’t be stuck on the sidelines this time around!

  9. OTbroncos says:

Quiet when we have the ball, LOUD when we don’t.

  10. RH709 says:

I agree that they showed there hand.

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Exactly OT!

Von has improved in dropping back as the year went. He had a hard time early in the year but has gotten better (Still room for improvement of course) that will help us as well.

  12. alaskanbronco06 says:

If/when we play NE we cant help them out like we did last time. Having 3 turnovers going for 17 Pats points.

  13. OTbroncos says:

    Turnovers are our Achilles heal…

  14. OTbroncos says:

    heel

Hopefully we will “heal” that.. Lol

  15. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Sup Sndvl. How you living brother?

  16. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Lol nice save OT lol

Part of me thinks we should give Holliday a rest vs Pats because holding onto the ball is so important and he drops it so often. But of course we need to really work with him on that nonetheless. Holding onto the ball and giving us a chance to move the ball and score is to important to risk him dropping it.

  17. RH709 says:

The number of turnovers we had in the first half of the season was significantly reduced in the second half. I think that has mostly been addressed.

  18. alaskanbronco06 says:

RH it has been addressed but Holiday still puts it on the ground to much for comfort.

  19. RH709 says:

Which is exactly why Houston cut him. I agree that he does and hopefully an off season with our coaches will do him good. I see your concern and it is entirely possible the way Fox coaches.

  21. RH709 says:

I’m hoping tomorrow brings news that our team can focus its efforts on Bengals.

  22. TicoBroncoFan says:

Went to my first ever game and thus Broncos game on 9.30 vs the Raiders! Top 5 experiences of my LIFE! I am jelous of those that can go regularly. The stadium is BEAUTIFUL, the crowd is amazing, the organization TOP NOTCH and of course this year, a FANTASTIC super bowl bound team. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

  23. UFOinNV says:

My daughter and son-in-law go once every year but……they take turns…..her Broncos…..his Chargers.

  24. RH709 says:

I really want to go to a Broncos home game. I have only gone to away games against the Raiders or Niners. Not the same experience.

  25. manning4mvp says:
