Broncos Rookies Prepare for O.co Coliseum

November 2nd, 2011 - 4:42pm by Kenny Legan

Denver travels to Oakland this weekend to play at O.co Coliseum, which is known as one of the most unique environments in the NFL.

For the Broncos rookies, it will be their first time playing in front of tens of thousands of Raiders fans. But instead of being apprehensive, they are looking forward to that prospect.

“When I was younger, I used to look at the fake mascots in the stands with the horns on their heads, and I thought, ‘What’s going on over there in Oakland?’” safety Rahim Moore said. “I can’t wait to experience it and be able to help win and do what we can to compete with those guys, because they are a great team.”

Fellow rookie, linebacker Von Miller, said he enjoys the passion of the Raiders’ fans and knows that they make it tough for opposing teams to play in Oakland.

“I’ve known about Oakland’s stadium since I was a little boy, where everybody dresses up in the shoulder pads and everything,” Miller said. “They’ve got great fans; it’s just not too great if you’re the opponent going in there.”
Regardless of the challenge the atmosphere presents, Miller said he’s excited for the AFC West rematch.

“It’s a rivalry game,” he said. “It’s way different than college rivalry games, because it feels like it’s more on the field than the atmosphere. It’s definitely going to be one of those chippy games, and I’m looking forward to it again.”

Below are some photos from the Broncos practice Wednesday as heavy snow forced the team indoors.

    HERE WE GO AGAIN

Watch Doom – 80% of the time or more Doom is double teamed and still getting through. He is taking up players that allow others to get to the QB. I think Doom is at least close to being as good this year as he was in 2009. It takes a lot of offensive protection to keep Doom off the QB. Teams know they have to scheme for Doom.

  4. BroncosLAX says:

You maybe right I may just be busy with the rest of the defense I just want to see him make plays how he has in the past

  5. jsizzla says:

Aaron Rodgers sat for how many years, granted behind a legend, but still sat and learned. They said Rodgers threw the ball different in college than he does now. His first year he started for the pack he was just “all right” and that was after all the waiting. Tony Romo’s first nfl throw of his career was a pick 6, I witnessed it. Peyton Mannings first year he was terrible. Just sayin’ everyone needs to take it easy give this guy the rest of the year and see what we have. I will be very dissappointed if any QB sees the field this year besides Tebow, it would be a huge mistake. He should have started this year..

Interesting to say the least- Thanks Lindsay Jones from the Denver Post

NFL scouts and football folks frequently troll the sidelines of college football practices.

But of course, John Elway is no normal football executive, and when he’s seen at the college practice of the projected No. 1 pick in next year’s draft, well, that becomes news.

Associated Press reporter Antonio Gonzalez reported via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that Elway is watching Stanford, and star quarterback Andrew Luck, practice in Palo Alto.

A Broncos team spokesman said earlier today that Elway and general manager Brian Xanders are out of town this week “scouting.”

It isn’t Elway’s first trip to Stanford this year. He was also in Palo Alto earlier this fall to watch the Cardinal play the University of Colorado.

Elway (and any NFLer) is banned from talking about college players while they are still in college. But he can certainly observe.

  7. Greatness007 says:

I told some of you the experts that got you believing Tebow will never be even a serviceable QB. Has now said Luck has average arm strength at best. lol Here we go again. Hey he can do a 7 step drop so he’s in right??

  8. daddybronc says:

sizzla – I was impatient to start Tebow because Orton has been so off his game – but it would have been great for Tebow to have sat behind Orton for at least this year – if Orton was doing anything. I think it was right for Fox to start Orton and it is because Fox did the right thing in spite of fan pressure that I am going to continue to defend Fox on this site. But …we do need folks to get their expectations somewhat in line with the reality that the Broncos have not had the opportunity to jell as a team, and to mature their young players.

Everyone needs to give ‘em a break!!!

  9. sndvl says:

That’s all I could dig up for the evening. As I have self imposed a moratorium on anything Tebow related.

  10. socalbigbroncofan says:

thats nice about elway scoping out luck but i think miami will have that #1 and they are not trading for anything. they have been waitng for a qb as long as we have.

  11. daddybronc says:

sndvl – great link…go ahead argue with somebody…it’s good for the blog. If you choose me I can take it – cept I’m heading to dinner.

  12. Greatness007 says:

jsizzal It’s not the same. People can say what ever they want too. Like the saying goes. Something sight is 20/20. When Peyton came out no one was thinking he was gonna do what he has been doing. Neither did they think this about Aaron Rodgers. (Of what they are seeing now) They can have bad starts at the beginning of their career but Tebow cannot. Peyton coming out of college never won the big games. All 4yrs he lost the big games. You can Quote me on that when he was in college. Tebow on the other hand won mostly all the big games. These same experts where picking his Teams in College to lose those big games he won when they talked College Football. People Keep saying if the fans would have not been talking. Tebow wouldn’t be in the NFL let alone a starting QB. They so called Faithful( Yeah Tom I stole you nickname for them. You can hate me later bud. lmao) Seen the kid do it time and time again. We not talking against the WAC or mid level conference. We talking the SEC. Where the team he won and played well against have franchise players across the board at every position. That can not be a fluke. Forget about the Offense of the teams. We talking about the D. Every yr from the SEC when he played. They were getting top 10 D player from the SEC. I mean franchise D players. Who he played against and did well. He Top WR was Eric Riley and we seen nothing from him in Philly. Harvin was a RB not a WR there. Mainly hurt with his Heel problem for alot of his college career. This isn’t about being a Tebow lover or Hater. It’s about I seen Kyle at Purdue,Chi, Denver. You could say he regressed since Purdue. He is a 7yr vet that is not gonna get franchise money. All you who want Kyle to star. Also want a QB in the first round? So you saying he is not the answer so why keep going forward with him. Tebow is the unknow. The coaches at this point said they are tryna figure out how to use him. That is telling me McCoy just had a copy of the playbook like the players on O did. McD was running the show. He has been in Denver with Tim. He has to figure out how to use him though?? That is a odd statement that noone has caught on too. When Tebow was drafted McD wanted to trade Kyle but Bowlen refused to sign off after the yr he had. Plus didn’t want another QB thing like Cutler. Tebow was gonna get the Key to the Broncos. That 6-0 start got Kyle his 9 mil this yr plus the money last yr. As a fan of football not just of my favorite team. It was Nolan who should have got the credit for the 6-0 start. From that 6-0 start in those game none score any touchdowns in the second half just one field goal. Tim need work but not holding a clipboard. So no Kyle then who Quinn? If Brady starts you would still wanna draft a QB. So why start him?? We seen Brady Quinn with Edwards, Winslow, Cribbs, and some other highly paid talent that looked Awful. I remember that thursday night game against us. Our D made him look like Tebow is looking now. Remember OUR D did that to Quinn. We been saying for yrs our D sucks. I say let the kid play if it don’t work out then we can trade our pick and something else ti indy for Luck. Maybe put Moreno in that trade pack with the Pick. lol I just know one think if he is the only guy we are keeping under contract. Then let him play why let someone we not gonna resign play?? It make no sense what so ever.

  13. sndvl says:

    Argue? Strange.

Ok. I’ll take a shot. Elway and X-man were there to scout one of their 3 TEs.

TE Levine Toilolo. Dude is 6-8 and 263 pounds.
TE Coby Fleener. 6-6 and 244
TE Zack Ertz. 6-6 and 249
Or running back Sepfan Taylor. 5-11 and 208.
All are juniors, except Fleener the senior, but I think if Luck goes, they will as well.

  14. sndvl says:

Greatness. Don’t want you to take this the wrong way, but you’ve got it wrong about the Thur. Night game against BQ and Cleveland.
That was probably his best game as a pro. Almost would have beat us, had Cutler not connected with Royal for the game winning 90 yard TD.

  15. BroncosLAX says:

Greatness you contradicted yourself like 10 times in that paragraph… If Tebow starts we want to draft a QB if Orton starts we want to draft a QB and if Quinn starts we want to draft a QB? Quinn has 13 starts in his career he never recieved a full year… Cleaveland had a terrible team and Quinn torched us his first career game. I’m not saying Quinn is the answer but he should start if Tebow doesnt improve

  16. BroncosLAX says:

    Beat me too it sndvl!

  17. sndvl says:

I think you’re thinking about the game where Doom sacked him 4 times. Which was the first of his two, four sack games that season. En route to his record setting 17 (Broncos record of course).

Who can name the second QB that Doom sacked 4 times?

  18. Greatness007 says:

lol 90 yard pass was in the 2nd qt not the 4th. lol I say it was Awful cuz if you remember he didn’t complete a pass over 6 yards. when he did go deep. He’d throw the ball out of bounds. That’s what I was talking about. not his 56 completion rate.

  19. sndvl says:

    Lol LAX

  20. Greatness007 says:

I didn’t contadict myself lol. I said from all accounts they not gonna resign Quinn or Orton. That’s the truth. So why let them play?? That’s my question. It’s gonna be 2 QB’s for sure. Adam and Tebow. That’s what we know.

  21. daddybronc says:

I was trying to get you to break your Tebow moratorium.

Luck is good – I think he will never play for Broncos. I think it would be a disservice to Luck for him to not play another year of college.

I still like the basketballing TE with vertical leap. Haven’t watched any Stanford…any of those guys fit??

Who is going to replace Champ? How many years before Champ retires?

Who is going to replace Dawk? How many years before Dawk retires?

  22. Greatness007 says:

I was thinking that when Josh was here we played them that thursday night. That’s my bad. When yuou brought up the Royal catch from Cutler. I was like Cutler was not on the team. Man that fills like yrs ago. meaning a decade.

  23. Greatness007 says:

    feels*

  24. Greatness007 says:

I say we draft a CB. Then mover Moore to CB and play Champ at safety ala Darren Sharper.

  25. Greatness007 says:

Moore played CB at College and had 10 ints. Then moved to Safety.

  26. sndvl says:

Yeah. It sure does feel like years ago. I can’t remember the last time our Offense put up 30. Eeesh.
I noticed too Plummer holds the record for most yards in a game with 499? Or has that changed?

  27. Greatness007 says:

I though Gus held the record for most passing yards. If he not first i know he 2nd.

  28. sndvl says:

Not gonna happen daddy. Lol. Nope. Besides, they aren’t hard to find. I’m sure you could google the word yellow and a Tebow article would pop up…

I’ve seen a few Stanford games and their TE trio look like the real deal. Especially Toilolo.

  29. Greatness007 says:

If Champ move to Safety could play 5 more yrs. Dawk is gonna retire after this season. You can book it.

  30. sndvl says:

Gus? Lol. Now that’s like a serious decade ago

  31. Greatness007 says:

I say Champ should check TJ in the game this sunday. Anybody think different let me know. Im gone for now!

  32. DrunkenBronc says:

Why would luck stay? He stayed this year cause he wanted to get his degree in architecture. Which he receives this year. He is going to the nfl.

  33. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I don’t think Greatness contradicted himself … he has said something I have as well. The point was no matter which QB we start … the general consensus for those who want Luck is that the QB of the future isn’t on our squad … so if thats the case, why play Orton or Quinn who don’t have a contract after this year and who have had many years to prove themselves. TT on the other hand is the unknown … u may say that Quinn only has 13 starts to his name … TT has 5 so Quinn is still way ahead. Its a deservice to go back to Orton … we are only moving forward. Ortons time in Denver is done … we don’t want him back and Im sure he doesn’t wanna come back since most bronco fans don’t like him.

I hear that about champ moving to safety … its funny, when we drafted Moore I was happy we got a safety but at the same time i was thinking “ummm wasnt champ supposed to move to safety eventually? How will that happen now not unless Moore flops” (Hence why I was pro patrick peterson) … But I don’t see champ moving to safety … he is slowing down but he can still hang … and he can still ankle tackle with the best of them. I see him finishing his career as a CB. I really wish we could get him a ring … really do. Its unlikely for us but anything is possible … how many times has an unlikely team made it to and won the superbowl when many people sit back and think “They are defintiely not the best team in the league” and yet … Rings and trophys. I see champ with us for like 3 more years … I hope we can get him one by then … And I know how unlikely that is. TRB

  34. BroncosLAX says:

TRB my questioning is drafting Carter also… Moore has the size to play SS and isnt afraid to hit so why draft Carter also when we had Bruton McBath and McCarthy? Champ can move to FS and Moore at SS but we need 2 cover corners to allow champ to move. If Vaughn progresses he can be one… He is not very fluid yet and has bad anticipation… The other from the draft? 13 Starts with the Browns my point being that I want to see him if Tebow doesnt show improvement is all.. He can very well be resigned actually most likely at this point as a back up but you can find out what we have in him if Tebow doesnt improve

  35. BroncosLAX says:

TJ? Lol no thats a wilhite assignment Champ takes DHB who has progressed

  36. daddybronc says:

LAX – the point we are trying to make is that even with 11 starts and no camp this summer – we still will barely know what we have in Tebow at the end of the season. We already know Quinn can’t be an NFL starter.

  37. daddybronc says:

Needed Carter to scare Moore into tackling well. LOL

  38. BroncosLAX says:

Well if you believe in Tebow I can believe in Quinn.. Those Browns were as bad as we are so it wasnt telling

  39. daddybronc says:

I think that I can see Champ noticeably slowing – not certain because he is so quick to read offenses and know where to go. He’s good in man coverage still but how much longer, I wonder. Megatron beat Champ up high, as I recall, can’t help that and everyone gets beat once in a while.

Anybody think Harris could be the guy?

  40. daddybronc says:

LAX – I don’t really think you are nuts for liking Quinn. He is incredibly accurate if he is protected.

  41. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    LAX

Actually Moore is not a very good tackler … that was his knock coming into the NFL … he was a ball hawk with poor tackling skills or so they said … and quite frankly he has missed a few tackles … sure he laid the dude out in the bills but its easy to put on a hit like that hence the whole defensless thing. Being a good tackler means u always take the right angles … can both wrap up and make bone jarring hits. Rahim can’t … he usually just throws himself … read some of his pre draft stuff. Quinton on the other hand is a head hunter, if you search for videos on him u will mostly see him putting the hurt on players. I mean bone jarring hits, and he played both FS and SS in college … he had second/3rd round grade and was available in the 4th … he was a value pick … they had no intentions … and lets face it, Dawk is getting old. I believe if they had known Quinton would be available in the 4th, they never woulda drafted more and used the pick on DT instead for example … hindsight is 20/20. So thats why we have both. And as a guy who believed in McBath … it hurt to see Moore get drafted and McBath eventually cut … but it is what it is. Pretty much all McD picks were trashed.

    Later Days, TRB

  42. daddybronc says:

I’m gone to bed too. G’nite.

  43. BroncosLAX says:

And I’m not even saying Quinn needs to go in now but If Tebow doesnt show that he can make strides then Quinn should get a chance

  44. true2broncos says:

All you Tim Tebow fans I just put an actual Denver Bronco Football on Ebay for sale that “Timmy” played with on his third career start in Denver against San Diego 1/2/2011!

Go at least check it out and pass it along to your friends and Tebow junkies! LOL

    ENJOY!!! 8)

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  45. 1nOnlyTRB says:

True cashignin on tebow faithfuls addictions lol … well at least its better than the person that was selling his pants from a game for 5k … “with real game stains and everything” … lol

I just hope that we look like an NFL team on sunday.

    DEN 13
    OAK 35

  47. arch4662 says:

I like what this rookie Harris is doing at the CB postion, he looks much better than Goodman/Vaughn. I think that our Def is looking really bad. Dummervile is nowhere to be found, we need to start 2 safties and stick with it. Play Carter and Moore IMO only because Dawkins is prob out after this year. (even though he is looking great again this year) We cant just keep signing undrafted DTs over and over. We have 50% of our starters on Def that would be 2nd or 3rd string on any other team. I dont want Luck… because it means we are wasting mutiple picks to get another QB. If we go after Luck its going to cost an obscene trade to get it done. If we draft another QB our Def will continue to lose games for us. Unless we put up 35 points or better a game we will continue to pick in the top 5 in the draft. Quin, Webber, Tebow, Orton…..it DOENT MATTER UNLESS THEY CAN PUT UP 30 POINTS we are not going to win. Great teams are built with Defense! I have stopped reading the NFL.com stuff on Tebow. I watch the games i dont need the ignorance from their people to tell me over and over how he is not a NFL QB….maybe but i dont want to hear it from CAST OFFS THAT OTHER NFL TEAMS FIRED BECAUSE THEY SUCKED AT THEIR JOB. And to all you bloggers that want to jump ship and say Tebow!!! and then 2 weeks later say webber no quin no that one guy from that one teams practice squad….. Pick something stay with it at least until the week 17 game is over this year. At the very least just do that.

  48. arch4662 says:

weird it posted twice. opps sorry at work on a ver very old and slow comp.

  49. 4Eva-A-Bronco says:

Morning everyone, I thought I would share an experience that I just had. So I was in a convenience store and saw a subject with a raider key chain and I was sporting my bronco attire. Yes even how they have been playing, I still wear the colors. So I’m getting ready to checkout and this guy notices me, and asks so your a bronco fan huh? Like as if he didn’t know, of course I replied absolutely. He then asks if I am ready for the beat down that is about to happen this Saturday. I replied asking him if he was ready? He then responded that with all the help the broncos will be giving his team, how could he not be, and further elaborated that Jarvis moss will welcome Tebow and the broncos to Oakland and continues in this manner. I’m thinking this arrogant sun of a gun, I hope the broncos whoop the living heck out of his team and gods let’s me run into this man afterwards. Well he leaves the conversation after I politely remove myself from his presence, and he has the nerve to tell me that he plans on seeing his team put up another 55 plus points, and this time the broncos should have Tebow pray that they can at least score a field goal laughing. I tell you if it had not even for my wife and kids it would have been ugly. I love my broncos now and always, but I don’t want to be the bottom feeders come seasons end, so please for the love of god broncos pull it together for this game at the very least.
