Broncos Rookies Prepare for O.co Coliseum

November 2nd, 2011 - 4:42pm by Kenny Legan

Denver travels to Oakland this weekend to play at O.co Coliseum, which is known as one of the most unique environments in the NFL.

For the Broncos rookies, it will be their first time playing in front of tens of thousands of Raiders fans. But instead of being apprehensive, they are looking forward to that prospect.

“When I was younger, I used to look at the fake mascots in the stands with the horns on their heads, and I thought, ‘What’s going on over there in Oakland?’” safety Rahim Moore said. “I can’t wait to experience it and be able to help win and do what we can to compete with those guys, because they are a great team.”

Fellow rookie, linebacker Von Miller, said he enjoys the passion of the Raiders’ fans and knows that they make it tough for opposing teams to play in Oakland.

“I’ve known about Oakland’s stadium since I was a little boy, where everybody dresses up in the shoulder pads and everything,” Miller said. “They’ve got great fans; it’s just not too great if you’re the opponent going in there.”
Regardless of the challenge the atmosphere presents, Miller said he’s excited for the AFC West rematch.

“It’s a rivalry game,” he said. “It’s way different than college rivalry games, because it feels like it’s more on the field than the atmosphere. It’s definitely going to be one of those chippy games, and I’m looking forward to it again.”

Below are some photos from the Broncos practice Wednesday as heavy snow forced the team indoors.

The only way I honestly think Tebow will be a good NFL QB is if we completely design an offense around him..and that’s not going to happen. The other part of that is Tebow’s mechanics and reads..that’s on Tebow, he’s go to work on that. He’s failing to make throws that even a high school QB could make. He’s taking too many sacks because he can’t read the D and make accurate throws. I’m not bashing I’m just stating the obvious. I hope he does become better, but unfortuantely his show case hasn’t been all that spectacular. Maybe he’ll show us something this weekend but if he doesn’t maybe Quinn. I think Quinn deserves a shot as well, maybe even Weber. At the beginning of the season we were in a “win now” mode..what mode, if that was the “win now” mode, what mode are in in how….?

this week, once again we face an oakland team that is better than us. I really believe it would quell some hreat ache if we all realize it. I have very simple aspirations for this game. better individual performances. when that happens we may see over all improvement. which is exactly what coaches tell the players. even back ups experience it. or those that at 29 are already assistant hc’s. having realistic goals and accomplishing them build confidence and eventually lead to success. it is hard as a fan to be patient, impossible for me in regards to the broncos. would be awesome if I could carry patience and a level head all the time, not just with hs students. impossible to not want to kick a baby seal in the face after every loss.

I really hope Tim meant what he said about not watching much TV and stuff because all the negative stuff would surely be a detterant (sp) for him. I noticed he said he spends most of his time at the field. He is so dedicated and I believe he will improve. I think it will be in baby steps and no miracles will happen overnight.

Greatness007 posted last night at 9:23 pm:”When Peyton came out no one was thinking he was gonna do what he has been doing”.

C’mon man he had great #s coming outta college:

37 TDs 11 ints 3819 yds his senior year!!!

top 3 UT single game passing records:
    1 Peyton Manning (Kentucky, 1997) 523
    2 Peyton Manning (Florida, 1996) 492
    3t Peyton Manning (So Miss, 1997) 399

top 3 UT single season passing yards
    1 Peyton Manning (1997) 3,819*
    2 Peyton Manning (1996) 3,287
    3 Peyton Manning (1995) 2,954

And got screwed outta the Heisman too!!!

He was the overall #1 pick in ’98.

He is the prototype pocket passer and always has been!!

I’m a Tebow supporter too,but you are comparing apples to Oranges dude!!!!
Tebow cannot be compared to Manning or Rodgers, because he is not the same type of QB that they are!

Tebow cannot succeed in the same Offense that PM and AR are running,McCoy has to build an Offense around Tebow for him to be successful, ala Cam Newton, imo.

Just one man’s opinion that don’t mean a Helluva lot!!!

PS:I watched every game Peyton Manning played in college!
even tho he didn’t win the big one,UT won the National Championship the following year that Manning got drafted, but the Defense won it!!!

I hope Tebow gets better and becomes our franchise QB for the next 15 years, but if he don’t we move on to the next QB,I think EFX knows the draft next year is going to be the best QB draft in years, that’s why we need to know if Tebow is the guy or not,I think he deserves at least 2 years to prove himself, but he is NOT gonna get more than the next 9 games!!!

If he does not improve by leaps and bounds by the end of this year,he will be gone and Elway will find a way to get Luck!!!

  8. BeastFromEast92 says:

Either way we get a franchise QB!!!

  9. savinghyrule says:

As much as I like Tebow, if getting Luck means making our team better, I’m all for it. But I really want the coaches to let TT play until the end of the year before they decide. I think they will, because they know what they have in Kyle, and they know a little about Brady Quinn – enough to know he won’t be a better option.

  10. BeastFromEast92 says:

I can’t for the life of me figure out why Orton has not been cut(saving us 3.5 million) and Quinn is not on the trading block for a 5th or 6th round pick next year, bring Weber up from the PS,before somebody claims him,and make him the backup,EFX makes no sense to me,it’s just like being in the McD whirlwind all over again!!!
Tebow needs to get playing time to evaluate him,and Weber needs to get some reps to see if he is good enough to be the backup QB.And to all the ones who think Quinn should get playing time this year instead of Tebow, yall are crazy,Quinn plain out sucks, and will be gone just like Orton at seasons end, good riddens to both if you ask me!
If Tebow don’t get better he will be gone too,I think Elway wants his franchise QB by the start of next year, and I do too, whether it be Tebow or Luck,we have suffered at the QB position for way too long!!!

Yeh shouldve definetly cut orton n saved the money. N it would b way better for tebow to work out for us then get luck and waste so much on one position n still be lacking the rest next year probably would be just as bad of a season next year if thats what happens. As for tebow he does need some time n hopefully he gets all this year plus more but as said fox n the crew may not let that happen. Hopefully he proves us wrong tho. Also this is a little off topic but i was watching sound fx on nfl network and heard how much carolinas coach praises cam newton so much n sees it as he could do no wrong as if cam was his son. He even told him go out there n play like you… I wonder if fox is like dat with tebow? Highly doubt it but maybe actually commiting to him n being similar 2 how their relationship is could be good idk tho just thought id throw it out there and see what everyone thinks.

Getting Luck isn’t going to fix our defense. The D gave up 31 points to Detroit, and they haven’t done that great the rest of the year either. Sure, Tim needs to improve, but our defense problems far outweigh our offense problems.

I was talking about Breaking Dan Mario’s record of TD in a season. I was talking about being the Coach/Player on the field. I’m talking about calling his own play with the OC acting like a QB coach. Stop tryna twist my words to suit what you wanna think. Come ask me next time!!!!!!
