I honestly understand how each of you feel on the whole rookie number situation, but theres no point in getting upset over such a little situation. If we are true broncos fans then we should be happy that Knowshon Moreno is honoring Atwater. And nobody can even bring him up as his number being retired because Darrent Williams wore it, and it should not be retired for him. But David Bruten wearing 30 isn’t respectable in my opinion. But all and all the fact of the matter is, TD’s number isn’t retired and somebody was going to wear it, so as i said in the beginning, there is no reason getting upset over a situation like this

On a complete side note, our roster is HUGE we have 90 guys on the roster!!! That is amazing! Were bound to have a GREAT team this year, normally rosters dont get above 80, so were doing pretty well right now I would say, every guy is going to have to earn his spot, especially with Mcd at the head, its not to often everyone has to earn their spot, in a lot of cases players are just given it cause they have already proven themselves, this time around for us no one has proved them self to McD, so at then end of the day I think were going to have a pretty darn good football team.

Thebroncoguy its very common for a lot of teams to have close to 90 guys, your going to see 37 guys gone by regular season, in my opinion the faster you get these guys cut from the team the more time you can spend working with the starters and 2nd string helping them work on their problem areas.
Remember guys there is 53 spots on each team, only 45 guys can be fully in uniform, 46 if the team has 3 QBs.
I think Moreno would be wearing the same number he wore at Georgia (24), except Champ is wearing it.
#27 has always been a number for Broncos greats such as Steve Atwater and the late Darrent Williams. With that said, I have no qualms with Knowshon wearing it, I just hope he realizes the expectations he must live up to when he wears it. I’m sure he will. GO BRONCOS!!!

Friday and Saturday’s practices are closed. No one is allowed to photograph those sessions. However, just like with the last mini-camp, one practice is completely open. Sunday is that day, and we will have a practice notebook as well as photos of the session up as soon as possible after player interviews are finished.

Anyone else have this happen to them, if your watching a video on youtube or on Sportscenter and you go back to the Broncos webpage while the video is still playing if you click on the tabs Top stories, photos, audio/video, blogs it mutes the video on youtube or sportscenter and you have to go back to the video and rewind it a little to get the sound back on. But if you dont click the tabs but just click read more it doesnt do it. Anyone else notice this? Just want to see if its a problem with the Broncos website or its a problem with my computer.

Yea i just read that too denverbro89….He really had no obligation too but I respect that. Apparently he had met Darrents mom back in February before he even knew he would be a bronco.
I also feel that 27 and 20 should be retired but I have no problem with them honoring the ones before them….there are only so many numbers in the league and many positions share the same digit space.
From what I see, I believe Moreno will work fine here, a class act and that’s a true bronco.

Yeah moreno has permission from the family, so thats fine with me, and as far it goes with the rest of the numbers, I being the fan I am, I know who made those numbers great in bronco history, So if they dont live up to the number, I know who the true # 30 is so on and so forth
Knowshon is a class act! That comes as no surprise as he matriculated at Georgia. Georgia is home to many good people and Broncos, such as Champ and Boss. Atwater is a Hall of Famer, I don’t care what anyone else says. Wear #27 with pride, Knowshon. We’re glad to have you.

This just in you can never please everybody! So why ya’ll worried about #, we got a season to get ready for. All Monday morning QBs, GMs, and Owners. If your biggest problem is a # a guy wears. I see now why they think we gonna be hard pressed to get 4 wins. When we arguing ova a # ,that a family doesn’t have a problem with. It makes no since. Right now ya’ll sound like the fans of the Raiders, Cincy, and all the other bottom feeders. When you look at other sports like Miami Heat. They retired #23 for what none even knows or care. At the end of the day its not the # that makes the man. It his character that make him. They have a bronze statue. No one has a statue in this organization. Family is ok with it. So you should be too.

dynamicdave RB’s, DB’s and Safety’s numbers range from 20-49. i.e. Torain wears 42, Travis Henry wore 20.
Just like punters, kickers and QB’s wear 1-19 while WR’s can wear 10-19, 80-89.
NFL just keeps numbers in brackets like that so that refs can recognize players in different formations for illegal formations and other penalties, not only for unknowledgable viewers to help view players at positions!
I once heard a good quote,

We all remember players by their numbers, without the player its just a number. That’s why I like what Moreno said, “honor his number on AND OFF THE FIELD!” I prefer remembering players for their actions not for the number.
My favorite athlete has always been John Stockton #12 for the Utah Jazz, while whenever I played basketball I preferred to wear #12, drove me to play harder so people could associate the number on my back to his play/style, almost trying to make him proud. But it was his actions off the court that made me want to be a better person, that’s what a hero or idol should be. When they are not is when so many people debate athletes being role models for young kids.
IMO-A reason why Kobe changed his number to 24 after his rape case. Not just for his old coach, partly to help give him a new name. Worked didn’t it? No other athlete has been proved innocent of a crime and had it never brought up again, changing his number couldn’t have hurt those odds!
Wow you guys have beat the heck out of this number thing, do you all have nothing better to do then sit and cry about numbers, get a job. I am more interested in how the player can help the team win then what number they wear. And thank you for the guys who mentioned Atwater, no disrespect to D-will but Steve was my favorite 27. But if Moreno rushes for 1500-2000 yards and 30TD’s wearing it and helping to team win… FREAKING AWESOME then all you cry babies will be running around wearing your #27 Moreno jerseys.
To those who have said what about Favre to Denver…..give me a break…they do not need a one year option only to be in the same boat next year when he decides to retire for the third time…they need a QB for the future.

damn I did not think a number ment that much!! Ok number 30 TD awsome but I know of some one last year wearing that number. why the big fuss now?? and number 27 moreno could have just said yeah i’ll take 27 but instead he asked D williams mother if he can wear he didn’t have to do that. to me that is respect!! what about 53?? we had two great 53s Romanowski (i think I spelled that wrong) and Randy Gradishire (spelled wrong again) from the 70s I’m not from the 7os or the 80s but I still know who he is and how great he was and only 18 so don’t tell me I don’t know a thing or 2 about my Broncos!! lol
to add a bit of my opinion as if I haven’t already the only number in Denver that will never be worne again is number 7 and 80 the 2 best players ever to be in Denver their numbers should forever be retired! but give the Broncos a break there are only so many numbers to give players sorry to burst everyones bubble. its not the NBA where any postion can wear any number ther are certain “rules” for each psition. Plus all practically all the WRs that have come to Denver are wearing a teen number or 10 or 11 lol anyone else notcied that??
Picking a number or giving a number has nothing to do with respect. Honoring a player retiring his number is quite different as doing it in respect. If so, then… just Davis, Atwater, Wilson and Williams are worth of respect? Sorry, but I disagree. All of those players who have been Broncos and have helped to make this team what it is deserve respect.
A number has nothing to do with what a player can do for a team, even if it’s just one play that results to be a game changing play, that results to be a win game, that… you got the point.
Let’s cheer the rookies for what they can bring to the team, on and off the field.
