After a full training camp of lining up against a potent Broncos offense, the defense might view the close of camp on Thursday and three more preseason games as a bit of a reprieve.
The Broncos’ offensive attack boasts three receivers that each had more than 85 catches in 2012 — and they’re catching passes from a quarterback that has been to 12 Pro Bowls and been named the league’s MVP on four occasions.
“I believe our receivers we have are the best of the best,” safety Rahim Moore said. “Wes Welker is a great receiver. I believe he’ll be a future Hall-of-Famer one day. DT (Demaryius Thomas) is a rising star, Eric Decker is a rising star. Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback to ever touch a football to me.”
Those players matching up with the defense in training camp is beneficial in that few teams have that kind of talent moving the ball down the field.
“Whenever you have those combinations, you always want to do as much as you can and compete,” Moore said. “You want to get that environment around you so when you go out there and play on the field, it’s like nothing you’ve never seen. You’re used to it, week-in and week-out, every day.”
