Broncos Preseason Schedule Released

April 4th, 2012 - 11:59am by Gray Caldwell

The month of March was a big one for Broncos fans. Free agency began, and Peyton Manning became a Bronco along with 10 other free agents.

April is set to possibly top it.

The end of the month brings the 2012 NFL Draft and the full schedule release. But the excitement got started early this month, as on Tuesday, the NFL unveiled all 32 teams’ new Nike uniforms.

On Wednesday, the Broncos’ preseason schedule was announced:
Week 1: at Chicago Bears — Thursday, Aug. 9, 7:30 p.m. CDT (KTVD-TV Ch. 20)
Week 2: vs. Seattle Seahawks — Saturday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. MDT (KUSA-TV)
Week 3: vs. San Francisco 49ers — Sunday, Aug. 26, 2 p.m. MDT (Nationally televised on FOX)
Week 4: at Arizona Cardinals — Thursday, Aug. 30, 8 p.m. MST (KTVD-TV Ch. 20)

It marks the 15th consecutive season the Broncos have opened the preseason on the road, extending the franchise record.

All four of Denver’s opponents reside in the NFC. And all four are relatively familiar preseason foes.

San Francisco is Denver’s most common preseason opponent, with this year’s matchup representing the 34th between the two clubs. Arizona is Denver’s second-most common preseason opponent, and the Broncos met the Seahawks as well in the 2011 preseason.

Denver matched up with the same four teams in the 2009 preseason.

The Broncos have won at least one preseason game in every year but one — the club’s inaugural 1960 campaign. Denver owns a 125-112 (.527) all-time record in the preseason and has registered at least a .500 record in the preseason during 14 of the last 16 seasons.

For the 43rd consecutive year, 850 KOA will broadcast all Broncos games as the team’s radio-rights holder. KUSA-TV (9News), the club’s partner station, will televise all of Denver’s preseason games locally with the exception of its nationally televised game against San Francisco.

The exact dates and times of each game will be announced later this month along with the team’s complete 2012 regular-season schedule.

EFX thought bringing in Manning was going to be the best for this team. With all that has happened and could potentially happen at the DT spot (Vickerson and Warrant coming off IR and not getting any younger, McBean’s possible suspension, Bunk gone) I think they’d be contradicting themselves by not drafting a DT with their first pick. We all remember the pain of teams ramming the ball down the middle of our D and I don’t want to have to rely totally on Manning to win games for us.

They fall because things they see at the pro day and personal meeting and what not. Bruce Irving isnt that kind of specimen. Also a little after his pro day Irving got arrested or in some kind of trouble. Cant remember what exactly but i remember reading it.

That is your opinion on Reyes. The experts opinion is different. The experts all say the same thing mostly. But Reyes is right up there with Worthy and Still or better.

AB- Yea he got accused of breaking a sign at Jimmy Johns, apparently the charges are being dropped. Irvin is definitely a specimen. Fastest 40 time and is an excellent pass rusher. Just isn’t an every down player

The personal meetings are supposed to be private. Almost everyone who runs/works out at their pro days improve their numbers from the combine.

  4. alaskanbronco06 says:

The Colts team couldnt stop the run your right. But when they force other teams to pass the pass rush did well with the two. It would be great with three.

You seem to think im saying we dont take a DT at all. Which is wrong. Warren hasnt played in two years. Everyone knows that. Vickerson is rotational. Drafting a DT or two in rounds 2-5 adding them to the rotation would be great. If we sign Okoye the need for a DT lessens some also. We can get great run stuffing DTs in the later rounds and a great pass rusher at 25.

  5. Atwater4HOF says:

Irvin’s numbers dropped this year because he was doubled on every single drop back. Put him with Miller and Doom and no one can be doubled. His value at round 3-4 is more preferrable to me then a pass rusher in the 1st

Im out for the day. Have a good one everybody

  6. alaskanbronco06 says:

Atwater he is a specimen but not JPP type. Jones is. That specimen is rare.

Also the personal meetings do cause people to fall. Also watching game tape over and over also causes players to fall.

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

Irvings issue is hes below par at pass coverage thats why iw ould much rather a pass rushing DE and a Pass cover and run stopping LB. Along with a great run stuffer.

  8. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Great run stuffer DT

sndvl, thanks for reposting the mock draft contest rules,I’m looking forward to winning it,lol.

ab,sounds like you want Hightower ILB in the draft?..he’s the type of LB you just described!

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

    BFE whats up brother?

I would love to get Hightower. But the type of player Jones is, is very rare. So IMO I would take him over Hightower and get a LB like that later.

    New blog.

  20. daddybronc says:

What the heck is this tiff between Coloradoboy and FTR? Is this a new phenomenon beginning this morning, or an ongoing thing?

I have seen a lot of folks on the blog explode on some post – and yet if they read carefully they would see that they are responding to some ‘ quote or copy/paste of some other blogger, or a misread of what was written, or a misunderstanding of the relationship between bloggers.

Substantive disagreement over Bronco opinion is entertaining and healthy to the blog.

This personal crap is offensive and unproductive – what gives?
