The month of March was a big one for Broncos fans. Free agency began, and Peyton Manning became a Bronco along with 10 other free agents.
April is set to possibly top it.
The end of the month brings the 2012 NFL Draft and the full schedule release. But the excitement got started early this month, as on Tuesday, the NFL unveiled all 32 teams’ new Nike uniforms.
On Wednesday, the Broncos’ preseason schedule was announced:
Week 1: at Chicago Bears — Thursday, Aug. 9, 7:30 p.m. CDT (KTVD-TV Ch. 20)
Week 2: vs. Seattle Seahawks — Saturday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. MDT (KUSA-TV)
Week 3: vs. San Francisco 49ers — Sunday, Aug. 26, 2 p.m. MDT (Nationally televised on FOX)
Week 4: at Arizona Cardinals — Thursday, Aug. 30, 8 p.m. MST (KTVD-TV Ch. 20)
It marks the 15th consecutive season the Broncos have opened the preseason on the road, extending the franchise record.
All four of Denver’s opponents reside in the NFC. And all four are relatively familiar preseason foes.
San Francisco is Denver’s most common preseason opponent, with this year’s matchup representing the 34th between the two clubs. Arizona is Denver’s second-most common preseason opponent, and the Broncos met the Seahawks as well in the 2011 preseason.
Denver matched up with the same four teams in the 2009 preseason.
The Broncos have won at least one preseason game in every year but one — the club’s inaugural 1960 campaign. Denver owns a 125-112 (.527) all-time record in the preseason and has registered at least a .500 record in the preseason during 14 of the last 16 seasons.
For the 43rd consecutive year, 850 KOA will broadcast all Broncos games as the team’s radio-rights holder. KUSA-TV (9News), the club’s partner station, will televise all of Denver’s preseason games locally with the exception of its nationally televised game against San Francisco.
The exact dates and times of each game will be announced later this month along with the team’s complete 2012 regular-season schedule.

hey rbf1……….nice to see ya!
I’m just hoping that EFX addresses this position with our first pick……………it’s prob the most glaring need on our roster right now.
Same here kod. Hard to say what will happen with 1st rd selection. Rumors still flying re: Broncos may look at drafting another WR for Manning. I could see this happening. Just hope it’s a little later in the draft.
yah, it’s so hard to predict cause every selection that happens before ours causes a chain reaction down the line.
but I trust EFX to draft the player they feel is the best fit for us at that time…………
Thanks BFE:
I do not usaually react to trolls. Too many beers last night. ha San Fran on Nat TV. Will be a Beer night LOL
FTR
Hey FTR………..not sure why he reacted the way he did to your post……….he’s only a kid but he should still know better.
Whats up Everyone. Kod. FTR, RBF1 and anyone else i cant see.
Havnt been on in a while. Ive actually had work to do all week… Strange haha. Ive been reading along on occasion so ive probably missed some of the fun. Lots of draft talk, not exactly my forte but im learning more and more.
FTR that little tussle with the troll was pretty awesome. Theres always gotta one per blog eh?
Hey CB……….pretty slow day here at work……….and a slow one on the blog too.
Ive noticed, theres hasnt been big news for little while now, other than the new jerseys. I heard they have some kind of wiring in them to really make it snug. Sounds dangerous but if it help the VONDOOM train im all for it!! Any word on the Alternates?
Yikes, what was up with ColoradoBoy (I would say CB but would have to have it mistaken for DenverCB lol). Comments were out of left field and targeted for reasons I cannot decipher. Sigh…
RBF1, glad the broncos are looking at Still. Im a fan of the kids potential my self but most people on here are not. He is one of the best in the draft and his potential is high. They do question if he brings it every day. Many on here warn against Penn State DTs and Big 10 DTs in general (I think it was big ten). Still a fan tho (get it? “still”
lol)
FTR,
Bay recently just made a post since his goodbye message. Dunnno if you saw it. It was a lengthy post in reference to how he felt about the whole Manning thing. He is far from back but was great to hear his thoughts. Only something blockbuster like that (and OC lol) could bring him back. I can point you to his post if you’d like
Later days, TRB
TRB thanks. After that fiasco i wouldnt want to be mixed up with ColoradoBoy ha
!!
I think coloradoboy used to get frustrated cause he would post things and pose questions and no one would acknowledge his posts……..possibly including bay, so that’s why he’s negative towards him.
How you doing DenverCB! Good to see you on here again!
Nice- TRB – I know you’re high on Devon Still and have been for awhile. That’s good – I didn’t see him play but one game, so I know you have some good insight on Still. I like his size and from what I’ve read, sounds like a sound pick. Initially I was leaning with Cox but don’t think Broncos will have a shot at him anymore. I also like Kendall Reyes, and Wolfe later if he’s there. Bottom line, I’d be glad to see the D bolstered by any one of these big guys!

The Bears could be in the market for another DT because free agent DT Amobi Okoye is unlikely to return to the team, according to GM Phil Emery. “I think Amobi is trying to decide which direction he’s going,” Emery told season ticket holders in a conference call. “We’ve had conversations with him. So far, we haven’t been able to work out a deal. I really believe that Amobi is probably going in a different direction.”
OT………is that direction pointing to Dove Valley? lol
Somebody point that man in the right direction and bring him to the Broncos! Ive wanted him since we didnt not get Soliai.
I also Forgot that my little brother has an autographed photo of him! All the better to convert him to a bronco fan (hes a current Bengal fan) I feel bad for him.
Thats what I’m hoping kk.. Okoye, Warren, Vickerson, and a rookie will be a pretty solid DT rotation IMO
I like Reyes now that Cox will not be available. Reyes is 6-4 299 Just a little smaller than Still (6-5 303) Reyes did play against weaker teams but he dominated elite college offensive linemen during Senior bowl. He also dominated against the teams he did play. Quicker for a DT he ran a 4.79. He is more of a run stuffer that can push linemen back forcing the QB out to superior pass rushers on the outside. He has a quick first step and uses leverage well. Is a good teammate as at the UConn Pro day he didnt run the 40 or bench press but was the spotter for his teammates. He is a sound tackler that doesnt let anyone escape his grasp. Learns well quick. Very bright young kid who wants to be the best and knows he has to improve.
Still is from the Big Ten. I am not a fan of Big Ten Dlinemen they have a huge tenancy to bust and not be what they were in college. He is a par pass rusher also utilizing his skills to force the QB into better pass rushers and is a sound tackler against the run. Plays hot and cold and has been rumors that he is hard to motivate. Learns well with time. Not a quick learner. Has a severe injury past having suffered torn left ACL/MCL in August 2007, broken left ankle in August 2008. Since then has been healthy though.
I summed that all up from a couple different sites about them. The fact Still plays hot and cold scares me away from taking him at 25 more than him being from the Big Ten. Still has been falling down a lot of peoples boards after having just a par pro day. (Worthy also is falling for that reason.) Reyes is rising and rising quick. Before senior bowl many considered Reyes a 4th 5th round pick. Rose the a 2-3 rounder post senior bowl and has been rising since. Reyes also has superior athleticism.
Reyes would be the better choice IMO at 25 than Still. Reyes and Winn 25 and 57 IMO
The Broncos reportedly offered Soliai 6 million per year, but he turned it down to stay with Miami for 4.5 million per year?
I’d love to see Okoye in Orange!!!
Colquitt’s contract is for only one year, bummer,we should have signed him long term,I know we are trying to save money, but Colquitt is one of the best punters in the NFL,and proved it last year!
BFE He wanted to stay home i guess LOL.
Okoye in orange would be great then we could pass on a DT at 25 if theres someone else there and get a DT at 57 (Winn) lol.
Devon Still, DE/DT, Penn State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 303.
40 Time: 5.00.
Projected Round (2012): 1.
Still had an underrated Combine, with nice speed in the 40-yard dash. His stock has gone down some only because of other prospects excelling and moving up draft boards. Still had a superb senior season. He was a playmaker and the leader of the Penn State defense.
Still has good size, surprising speed and real power. He played Alabama tough early this season. In 2011, Still had 55 tackles with 17 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, a pass batted away and a forced fumble. His last few games, especially against Ohio State and Wisconsin, were his worst showings of the year.
Entering the NFL, Still has an excellent combination of power, speed and athleticism. He beats offensive linemen with strength as well as quickness. Still has the versatility to play the three-technique or nose tackle in a 4-3 defense. He also could be a 3-4 defensive end.
Devon Still had a strong 2010 season with 10 tackles for a loss and four sacks. He saw frequent double teams, and still was a difference maker for Penn State. As a sophomore, Still had 5.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks. He has scheme flexibility and could fit a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense.

The fact that Still had bad showings against some good Olines actually scares me away even more. If he can handle elite college lines how is he going to do that in the NFL? Reyes handled the elite linemen at the Senior bowl.
I haven’t read any scouting reports that mention some of these lineman play “hot and cold”. Now if it’s analysts stating this, I’ll take it a face value. (exception – Mayock).
I think we have a very good shot of landing Okoye, we have some cap space, and he’s is pretty much guaranteed a starting spot.. This would free us up to draft a RB higher than originally planned, as I’m a little concerned with the question marks at RB..
I have seen them talking about it on NFLN and ESPN about pros and cons of them. Worthy Cox Still and Thompson have a bad tendency to play hot and cold.
I’m also not sold on taking a WR in a high round, but I could certainly get behind it, of the game plan is to just jump all over our opponents early..
I think a WR in the 4-6 round will be fine by me.
Agreed, all I’m saying if we did go Hill at #25 for example, I wouldn’t be as pissed as I would’ve been before getting PM
OT I agree. Hill would be a good pick but i would prefer to draft a WR later. Hill and DT. OpThomas Prime and Ironhad.
The only pick at #25 that would piss me off would be QB
My vote is to draft the best available pass rusher at #25, whether it be a DT, DE, or LB.. Pass rushers are in short supply, and adding a third rusher (preferably of bigger size) to Miller and Dumervil would be great!
Agreed.
Im preparing for a huge draft surprise. I doubt it will happen but i can see it happening. Browns taking Blackmon and Weeden with their two first round picks. They would keep the QB WR chemistry. And the Colts take Luck and Fleener.
OT Chandler Jones fits that. He comes from a very athletic family.
How big? What position? Dumervil and Miller are great, but both are on the smaller side, it would be ideal to add a bigger pass rusher to the mix IMO
Im fine with anything the FO decides, Offence ( we will be a juggernaut whether it be Rb or WR, our o line deserves more credit than what it gets, beadles and walton expecially) or Defence ( I would prefer another pass rusher but thats just me I like lots of pressure) This year our defense will be very much improved with or without a Top Tier DL IMO.
Is he the guy who’s brother is in MMA?
Yep, just looked him up… I’m on board with this kid! The next JPP, tons of upside!
DE 6-5 266. He uses his long arms excellently.
OT Yea. His brother Jon Jones Bones. My favorite MMA fighter who also uses his long arms excellently LOL
Just saw a mock that had Jones going to the Giants at #32, which only validates him in my mind… I say we snag this kid first
OT I wouldnt mind that. Then Winn at 57.
I have reservations with drafting a DT at #25.. I feel like more often than not, DT’s can be lazy.. I’d rather take a potential game changer like this kid Jones, then roll the dice on a DT in the 2nd or 3rd round where you’re getting similar prospects at that position anyway
Broncos draft board has been ready to go with exception of a minor tweaks since Combine, and Pro Day workouts. Of course landing PM, could’ve caused them to look at a few more.
It’s going to be interesting to see who Broncos draft.
As always, I’m sure we’ll be in for a few surprises.
OT I would totally be onboard with that especially if we get Okoye
Jomes just turned 22 in February too.. At 6’5″ and already At 265, I think he’s got room to grow and fill out still
If he has those long arms like his brother its another plus.
I’m officially on the Chandler Jones band wagon, in case anyone missed it.. Lol. Reminds me of JPP, being a little off the radar and being a freakish athlete with a ton of untapped potential..
I realize people will say we’re pretty good at DE, and that we have bigger needs, but just look at the Giants, they move guys all around, and their emphasis is on pass rushers.. I want that style of play in Denver!
Buck Every one of the Jones brothers has those long arms. One of his brothers plays for the Ravens also. Jones being another young pass rusher would be GREAT!!!!
Not to change the subject, do you think we hear anything about the Saints today?
