Currently on top of the AFC West standings, the Broncos control their own playoff destiny. All four AFC West teams are still alive in the division title chase, but the Broncos are in the lead.
The NFL will release its official playoff scenarios tomorrow morning, but it is believed that Denver can put itself into the postseason tournament with a win at Buffalo coupled with an Oakland loss or tie at Kansas City on Saturday, which would clinch the AFC West title. A Denver tie plus and Oakland loss and a San Diego loss or tie would also clinch the division.
A Denver win combined with losses by the New York Jets (vs. NYG), Cincinnati (vs. Ari.) and a loss or tie by Tennessee (vs. Jac.) would clinch at least a Wild Card berth for the Broncos.
Regardless of the Week 16 results, Denver can clinch a place in the postseason with a win in Week 17 at home against Kansas City. A win in that game would mean that Denver finished the season at least 9-7, which could leave the Broncos tied with Oakland or San Diego, should either team finish the season 2-0. The Broncos would earn the division crown based on tiebreakers against either team.
In the event that the Broncos finished the season tied for first place with Oakland, the tiebreakers would go as follows:
Head-to-head record: The teams are even at 1-1 on the year
Division record: The teams would be tied at 4-2 in the AFC West
Record in common games: Denver would win on this tiebreaker, having finished 7-5 in common games, while Oakland would be 6-6.
Should Denver find itself tied with San Diego atop the division, the tiebreakers would go as follows:
Head-to-head record: The teams are even at 1-1 on the year
Division record: Denver would win on this tiebreaker, having finished 4-2 in the AFC West, while San Diego would be 3-3.

Almost picked again.
BB – throws a wobbler. Looks like a Tebow pass! LOL
Funny first post on a new page. If someone starts here they think u picked ur nose LOL JK.
Did u see Aaron Rodgers completion rate yesterday? Like 51%, that is what happens when your recievers have a case of the drops.
Well….when you can’t get it!!!???
That’s when you know anybody can have a bad day. That was a bad day!
lol
yes it was
SF is definitely looking better thus far!
Nice run by Smith – I didn’t even know he could run. but he’s pretty fast.
I want Gore on the Broncos!!!
You know, I don’t feel nearly as bad about the loss for us as I did. I looked up the stats on Brady cuz I didn’t know a lot about im. I didn’t know he is in his 12th year. I did know he was the MVP last year and I know he has won 3 super bowls. I can’t wait to see what Tim will develope into next year and the next. If he keeps improving at the rate he has been after changing his throwing mechanics it will be a wonderful thing to behold.
Lot’s of penalties tonight
Bad Call!!!
Tebow is doing just fine and I think he is a long way from done this season.
It was nice that KC made Packers look so beatable. It’s gonna be a defensive playoff.
It will be interesting to see where Orton will end up next year. Also on what our team will do.
I think the Packer’s thought it was going to be an easy win.
I just hope that all the attention that Tebow is getting doesn’t put him in the position where he isn’t given time to grow into the job.
That is another reason why I am not so upset with the loss cuz there have been a LOT LESS press on Tebow so far.
I figure KC and Orton are headed home for the playoffs. I’m still thinking that SD has the best shot at beating Broncos for division.
Well Daddy I hate to go but 6am comes early. So goodnight, will probably see you tomorrow. I often spend a lot of time on the blog at work. I have my own office so I can do that lol.
BB on the move!!!
Have a good nite!
Maybe your right but SD has played so crazy this year you never know how they will coe out and play. Just like the Ravens LOL.
All we have to do is win one and we hold the tie breaker with them.
6 – 0 SF at the half,
I only say that because SD seems to get hot at the end of the season every year.
The lights are on!!!
I think too much is being made of this loss by some of the gloom and doom type fans.
First, it was the fumbles. We were spanking that team to start the game. 160 yards in the first quarter alone. That game plan was working quite nicely. Three straight fumbles in your own redzone will kill any team. Not only do they get the free points, we also don’t continue to ram it down their throats for 100′s of rushing yards, or get those TDs on those drives. Couple that with all the extra rest their D gets, all the extra time our D is on the field, and the huge swing in momentum. Fumbles are killers. Doesn’t matter who the coaches are, or what the game plan is, when you lose the turnover battle 0-3 (especially in the fashion we turned it over) you are going to lose 99% of your games.
Second, why are people presenting the Patriots as a “one dimensional, defenseless team.” I suppose you could argue that is true, but it is also misleading. Like the Pats are just scrubs. The worst team we faced all year. At 11-3 and current the top seed in the afc.
C’mon give me a break. It’s a team most of us had penciled in as a loss we saw the schedule in the Preseason. And we proved that we can manhandle them if we can avoid mental errors and turnovers.
I said before the game we needed three stats for the win. To qb hits (not even close), 150 yards out of mcgahee (only 70 from him), and a positive Turnover ratio. We didn’t get any of those stats, so the loss is no surprise.
It was a tough loss, but it’s no where near as bad a loss as some are making it out to be.
ten qb hits*
LMAO @ BFE!! SOUPS ON!!
The interesting thing is Orton may end up in Kansas City next year … dum dum dum … if McD is the coach. Then he will have to choose between, Cassel the guy he tried to trade Cutler for that led to the trade for Orton … or Orton the guy he ended up traiding Cuter for (and 2 picks) and his starting QB in his only stint as a head coach … OR Romeo could remain head coach and draft his own QB or keep Cassel lol. Should be interesting.
Low scoring game.
History does scare me a little, and I am worried it might get into the heads of some of our vets like Doom, Clady, DJ and Champ:
The Broncos have entered Week 15 with an 8-5 record three times in the past four seasons.

» Denver’s 2008 team started 8-5 under Mike Shanahan before dropping its final three games to sink to 8-8, a tumble that cost the two-time Super Bowl-winning coach his job.
» Then, of course, there’s the 2009 Broncos, a Kyle Orton-led production that roared out to a 6-0 start under the watch of first-year coach Josh McDaniels, before becoming just the third team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to start with six wins and miss the playoffs (the 1978 Redskins and 2003 Vikings share the same ugly distinction).
“We need to concentrate on getting better. We showed today that we’re not ready to go to the playoffs and make a push,” cornerback Champ Bailey told The Associated Press on Sunday. “We’ve got to get better and we only have two or three weeks to do it. If we don’t, then we’ll be sitting home.”
I really hope Elway and Fox have written Tebow in as the franchise QB of the future for the Denver Broncos. After handing him a 1-4 team he has gone 7-2 despite mega pressure from critics and analysts. This dude’s a gamer, just a straight up football player and I would be disgusted with the powers above if they let this guy go..
Daddy, this game reminds me of the 1989 World series in S.F. with the big earthquake, remember that?
On another note- somebody inform Rahim Moore that in order to intercept the ball one must close their hands around the ball before it hits them in the face.
Strand — I remember that. Wasn’t it Al Michaels calling the game?
sizz – that’s funny!
It sure was. Al Michaels has been around awhile calling games.
This is just ridiculous – they are saying if the lights go out again they will replay the game tomorrow. What? Somebody didn’t pay the light bill?!!!
i mean – an earthquake is one thing…
Mendenhall is bringing it!!!
He sure has. I thought he was great that night. It was scary, and he kept his cool.
Well California is in shambles as far as monies and politics. ooops, I said a naughty word. LOL! Never say *oliti*’ on this blog.
Looks like a catch to me!!! Those of you missing this game need to see this catch!
That’s interesting. What happens if you say that naughty word?
Bad – bad – bad!! That should have been a catch!
53 yarder at Candlestick!!!
Officiating stinks! Clearly had green between his foot and the line.
