Broncos on the Board

September 17th, 2012 - 8:30pm by Sam Davis

The Broncos took over on their own 20-yard line looking to respond to the Falcons touchdown.

After crossing into Atlanta territory, Denver went for it on fourth-and-1 from Atlanta’s 43-yard line and got the first down on a defensive holding call, moving them down to the 32-yard line.

From there, completions to Willis McGahee and Joel Dreessen took Denver into the red zone, but Falcons defensive tackle Vance Walker sacked Manning to give the Broncos a third-and-goal situation from the 17-yard line.

With 14 seconds remaining in the half, Manning sent a pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in the end zone. Thomas made a leaping grab near out-of-bounds, and the refs initially called him out.

But upon further review, the referees called it a touchdown, determining that Thomas got both feet in bounds before being shoved out.

The 17-yard touchdown pass finished off a 13-play, 80-yard drive that left six seconds on the clock in the first half.

The ensuing kickoff ended the half with a score of Falcons 20, Broncos 7.
