Broncos Nominated for Weekly Awards

November 15th, 2011 - 10:29am by Stuart Zaas

The Broncos are up for a pair of weekly awards following the team’s 17-10 win over the Chiefs in Week 10.

Linebacker Von Miller is nominated for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week Award after posting seven tackles, 1.5 sacks, two tackles for a loss and four quarterback hits against the Chiefs. Miller leads all NFL rookies and is tied for seventh among all players with eight sacks this season.

Fans can vote for Miller until 10 a.m. MST on Friday. The winner will be announced on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com on Friday.

In addition, Tim Tebow’s 56-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Eric Decker has been nominated for the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week Award.

The award is given for the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.

The Broncos won the award in Week 7 for their come-from-behind victory over Miami.

Each week’s winner will be stacked up against the 16 other Never Say Never weekly winners at the end of the season to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year. At the conclusion of the regular season, fans can log onto NFL.com/gmc to vote throughout January for their favorite Moment of the Year among the 17 candidates.

I gladly vote for our guys to win these awards. They all are working hard to get-r-done! Thanks Stuart for this fine article. I think all you folks deserve awards too for being the best team in keeping the fan base up to date with the pulse of the Broncos.

Worthy of both. Miller has been good all year but we will take it this week. Vote broncomaniacs.

Never say never indeed … just when u though we would never pass or complete a pass. 56 yard accurate bomb from Tebow to Decker. Tebow Decker …. TD … that’s all they do. Touchdowns.

Win or lose from here on out, at the very least we know we have some nice building blocks for the future. It doesn’t feel so gloomy around here anymore. Hopefully Tebow will surprise some skeptics again this weekend.

    DEN 21

    NYJ 14

  10. seweatherman1 says:

risky I don’t know about spiking the kool-aid but the name fits some of those predictions.

  11. RH709 says:

College play calling against the Faiders.

    High School vs. the Cheeps

What does pee wee play calling look like? lol

Seriously though, I hope the switch up the play calling again and keep the defense guessing. The Jets have great WR coverage so maybe we can throw some inside passes to RBs and TEs when we aren’t running the ball.

  12. Atwater4HOF says:

I like our young Oline to be able to handle this quick turnaround. The team that is fresher will dominate the line of scrimmage. And as we all know, winning the trenches usually=wins.

Champ vs Holmes will be a matchup we have to win.
Burress is a red zone threat but otherwise doesn’t concern me.

  13. seweatherman1 says:

Which team was it that has the left handed back up qb that spent the week prior to our game with them practicing to stop the run game? Was it Oakland or KC? One of them made a issue of using their left hander in practice just to prepare for our running game. The way I see it is they don’t know how to constantly defend the running game, especially if we use the hurry up offense so they can’t get fresh meat on the field.

  14. RH709 says:

    That was KC using Palko

  15. seweatherman1 says:

It didn’t do them much good.

  16. risky305 says:

I think we come out throwing and in the 4th Qtr we do not attempt a pass again. Defense stops the run and makes them pass. Sanchez gets hit 15 times(if he lasts that long)

  17. seweatherman1 says:

Think about this a bit. These teams are geared to defend passing more so than running. This has become a league that is 98% air plays. Now, here comes the Broncos bringing back old style football from an era where most of these guys playing today were not even a gleam in their daddy’s’ eye. All these teams are suddenly seeing us win games doing nothing but running the ball, and doing that quite well. They have absolutely no clue how to defend this type of football. This is ‘old school’ type of football and for them to defend it properly they would just about have to dismantle their passing defense. How many teams are going to do that? Not many.

I never thought Fox would be so willing to embrace creativity!!I love it!!!

I think the Broncos are about to put the NFL in shock!!!!

I think we are going to Spank the Jets!!!!!!!

We need McGahee back and strong on Thursday!!!!! I hope he can heal up and play!!!!!!

  20. seweatherman1 says:

OC, that article basically backs what I was talking about. These opposing teams have no clue what-so-ever. They throw in one or two new wrinkles to it for the upcoming game and the opposing stays confused. It is working so don’t try to break it..or..don’t fix what isn’t broken, just tweak it a bit.

  21. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, good article with some good insights into the organization about Tebow.

And it all goes back to what you and I and many others were screaming for all along when they were going with Orton, we knew that guy wasn’t the long term answer so the right thing to do was to give Tebow a chance to see if he could be that guy, and we pleaded for it here for months and now they are finally doing it.

Better late than never, the Broncos motto of the last few years.

And some say coaches and management don’t listen to fans, ha.

  22. seweatherman1 says:

I just was thinking, can you imagine what this team will be like next year after Elway gets an off season to work with Tebow on his passing game? If our offense gets better as well as our defense, which they both should, I shudder to think what next year brings.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

Tebow in Denver long term is far from being a done deal, long ways to go before I can think about us next year, but we are definitely on the way up with Fox as sure as we were definitely on the way down with McD.

  24. seweatherman1 says:

    Agreed…

  25. 88Odoms says:

    Denver 3

    Jets 2
