The Broncos’ historic comeback from 24 points down to beat San Diego has a chance to take home GMC’s Never Say Never Moment of the Week, and quarterback Peyton Manning is one of three players nominated for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award.
Fans are encouraged to vote now on NFL.com/gmc and NFL.com/fedex and have until Friday at 1 p.m. MDT to make their choices. The winners will be announced Friday during NFL Network’s “Around the League.”
Manning carved up the Chargers for his fourth consecutive game with at least 300 yards passing. Manning finished Monday night 24-for-30 for 309 yards passing and three touchdowns, all in the second half, good for a quarterback rating of 129.0.
The second-half rally, which tied for the largest in team history, started on the first drive of the second half, when Manning directed an eight-play, 85-yard drive by completing all four of his passes, including a 29-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas that put Denver on the scoreboard.
The Broncos’ next touchdown came on a 65-yard fumble return for a touchdown by cornerback Tony Carter, who picked up the loose ball after San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers had it knocked away by defensive end Elvis Dumervil. That touchdown made it 24-14 with 4:41 to play in the third quarter.
By the time 9:03 remained in the fourth quarter, Denver had added two more touchdowns to take a 28-24 lead and stun the crowd at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium. The Broncos held on for the win as the defense continued to smother the Chargers offense the rest of the way, then sealed the deal with an interception return for a touchdown by cornerback Chris Harris with 2:05 to play.

In Reality Alex, 5 out of 6 teams we played destroyed us on our interior DL… Good Defense starts up front, and it’s my understanding you don’t get to the top of the pyramid when your building if you haven’t established a solid base
you take away the blooper reel action and in reality we probably should have beaten sd worse than the raider. we played the best and only narrowly lost.
meanwhile we enter the soft part of our season just as this tea,m as realizing just what it is really capable of. last year the playoffs were an unreasonable hope. this year it is a reasonable expectation.
But we lost Alex, and much like winning it doesn’t matter if it’s by 1 or by 15. You can’t accept losing, or rationalize it as only losing to the ‘best’ because in today’s game any team can beat any team any day. It’s the teams that consistently put a quality product on the field that have long term success and right now this team is not playing at a playoff winning calibre no matter who tries to paint our losses Rosy… I also will not consider simply making the playoffs a success, we did that last year and won a game so this year it would not be unreasonable to be disappointed if we don’t exceed those results
time will tell, and I have confidence. let’s talk again in a few weeks
this time last year the giants were not playing at a playoff caliber. then the won the superbowl.
this broncos team – if they can put it together for 60 min- can not only beat but dominate any team in the league. all of the parts are there, just gotta put them together for a solid 60 min.
I really think that it is time for champ to move to safety. especially with our talented cb crew and thè lack of sollid safety play.
Wow. this dude really doesnt get it.
I just wanted to say very proud of our Defense! Those 14 points directly by the D made all the difference Monday! Tony Carter and Chris Harris were HUGE!!! Great job! Please reward Chris Harris with a HUGE contract! I can’t imagine our team without him at this point and he’s earned everything he would get.
Also Tony Carter played the game of his life and if he can keep it up we need to reward his efforts as well.
GREAT GAME DB’s!!!
For me the jury is still out on Tracy Porter! Loved him against the Stealers hated him against the Texans and I have been on the fence with his play ever since. I want him to be healthy after this BYE week and see what he is made out of???
What happened to Joe Mays??? It seems to me we could have used him a few time the other night, but they were holding him out??? Did he do something wrong???
Also why isn’t DJ Williams back yet??? They mentioned another suspension? WHY???
I really thing we are missing DJ more than we realize! He is the veteran we need after Nov 18th! I think he will fill a big hole and he is a tackling machine!
At least one FAN misses you DJ Williams!!!
Love seeing Kuper back and he played great!!!
Our O-line is as good as it has ever been!!!
Love the progress of the O this week!
GO BRONCOS!!!
I for one want Moreno back!!! Hillman is fine and getting better, but he really has not hit the big play yet! I would put MacGahee as 1, Moreno as 2, Hillman as 3, and save Lance Ball 4 for a practice back.
Heaven know we are probably going to need them all before this season is over!!!
I haven’t given upon Moreno and I won’t! But if the front office has? Why not trade him???
I want Moreno back on the field!!!
SoCal, I am a teacher, but BT is not in 5th grade. I can’t tell him that not agreeing with me is not a choice like I can tell my fifth graders who get in trouble.
Like I said, if Manning’s performance Monday night did not convince him, then nothing is going to. Not even a SB run.
Alex, the Giants argument goes right over BT’s head because I said the same thing a few posts back. But it’s ok. I’m all in, all in for life. Even if we lose the game! But then, I always have been. And this season is NOT like last season. I ran out of hope those last three games last season. One playoff win and a terrible playoff loss did not give me hope. Peyton Manning gave me hope. Thanks John Elway.
Good Morning Broncos Country!
Great win on Monday night…… against all odds from the 24-0 deficit but what a finish!
A total Team effort in the 2nd half!!
Glad to see Elvis contribute, but he’s had good outings at Qualcomm Stadium in the past.
Interesting the see a 3-4 look from the Broncos, and a few other looks as well. Good to see Del Rio being innovative.
A few of the players are dinged up as the bye comes at a good time…(DMT, Miller etc…).
Outstanding effort turned in by Harris & Carter!!! Harris is now bucking for a starting position.
It could be the reason why Porter was only given a 1 yr contract.
Still a long road ahead and Broncos have to work hard one game at a time, & take no one for granted.
GO BRONCOS !!!
Our D obviously has some deficiencies that doesn’t put us in the elite status as say a SF.
But the biggest difference from this season and last… Points against. How many times did opposing offenses put up 40+? How many times has it happened this year or what teams left on the schedule have the capability to score that many?
Oh & 4th quarter Defense… How many points have we given up?
Yes, I understand we have issues with inside runs and 3rd & long and covering TEs. But with a bye week and some tweaks. Not to mention a 2nd half performance for the ages… I’m pretty confident our D will show back up with a swagger…
Whoever mentioned Champ needs to play safety. That’s out of control.
Honolulu Island is still playing outside at an All Pro level. Check the replay of how he knocked a potential TD out of A Johnson’s hand while falling down backwards, if you don’t believe me. That and how many TDs have WRs scored this seaaon while being covered by him…
Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!
I thought I read somewhere that Porter chose the 1 year deal… I feel pretty confident he will be signed to a 3-5 year deal after this one.
Especially since this is a passing league.
I have to agree with Turtle about the D line in one respect. We need some beef inside to stop the run. I think as the season wears on we’ll adjust our linebackers and they will be ok. Inside there is just no replacing the big guys who stop the run. And Champ is still the Champ, doesn’t get any better.
Is that what it was.. thanks for clarification on Porter contract sndvl.
Best performance and come back I’ve ever seen it takes a lot to keep cool and come out on top

What a fantastic game. And it would not have been won if the defense hadnt laid down the law in that second half. That was Orange Crush quality defense we saw, Bronco fans! And Peyton just leads that offense like a maestro. Whoever is making the offensive calls in the first halves needs to get their nose out of the feedbag and let her rip. Way too conservative! And the schedule is a lot more attractive from here out. And New Orleans is not as good yet as formly and Baltimore doesnt look all that formible right now either. So,start playing hard all 4 quarters and I agree they will be a scary team to play these last 10 games. Go Broncos and tear up the Saints!!!
DJ got the extra 3 game suspension for the alcohol incident he got nailed on!
