Broncos Make Several Moves

August 17th, 2009 - 4:30pm by Zach Eisendrath

The Broncos on Monday announced several roster moves.

The club acquired defensive lineman Le Kevin Smith from the New England Patriots in a trade that included undisclosed draft choices. The team also signed free-agent running back Marcus Thigpen and waived defensive lineman Rulon Davis along with guard Pat Murray.

Smith is a fourth-year player who spent his first three NFL seasons with the Patriots, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft from the University of Nebraska. He has played 31 career games, totaling 25 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Last season, Smith — a former Nebraska Cornhusker — appeared in 15 games for New England and posted a career-best 21 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Meanwhile, Thigpen is a rookie running back who joins the Broncos after he was waived by Philadelphia on Aug. 4. The 5-foot-9, 193 pounder entered the NFL with the Eagles on May 1 as a college free agent from the University of Indiana.

During his four-year tenure with the Hoosiers, Thigpen became the first player in school history with more than 1,000 career rushing yards, receiving yards and kickoff return yards.

The sooner we send Marshall packing, the better. He’s a disruptive cancer both on and off the field. With Royal, Gaffney, Lloyd, McKinley, Swift, Graham, Scheffler, Quinn, Hillis, Moreno, and Buckhalter we have more than enough targets to engineer a great passing attack, even with our rather average QBs. I wonder if the 49ers would be willing to trade MLB Willis for Marshall? They need some help in the receiving area, that’s for sure. Hopefully, our front office is looking at all options.

Aussie Bronco why would you want to get rid of Marshall? The man is a beast! he got through his trial and now he’s back on the practice field. He makes our offense a lot better. Think about it, secondaries are going to have nightmares trying to cove Marshal, Royal, Stokley, Sheffler and even Hillis out of the back field

As much as Marshall is a talent, he’s also a huge head case. “Player’s being coached not to say they are happy for Brandon,” and then wouldn’t acknowledge that domestic violence against women is a touchy subject, and that maybe it would be best for both him and the team to not even go there. He is so stupid that he cannot see that the team is looking out for his best interest, to not make it seem that he is an unfeeling “woman beater” that used his money to beat the rap. As much as I hate to say it Shanny left this team with a bunch of cry babies, and discipline cases, which is a recipe to lose a ton of games, just ask the Raiders.
