Broncos Madden 13 Cover Candidates

March 7th, 2012 - 2:53pm by Gray Caldwell

It’s almost time to start filling out those brackets for the NCAA Tournament.

But there’s another bracket Broncos fans — and Madden fans — might be even more interested in.

The tournament to determine the cover athlete for Madden NFL ’13 is now live, but it’s up to Broncos fans to decide who will represent the franchise in the 32-man bracket.

Quarterback Tim Tebow, who helped direct Denver to the AFC West title, and linebacker Von Miller, last season’s Defensive Rookie of the Year, are in the running during the two-week, play-in round.

From now until March 21, Broncos fans can vote on SportsNation’s Facebook page for either Tebow or Miller to advance to the next round.

The winners of the play-in round for each team will be announced on ESPN on March 21, when fans can continue voting round-by-round to decide who will grace the Madden cover.

Last season, the vote for the cover generated more than 13 million votes as fans chose Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis.

Voting is now open.

You know its slow when the second last blog reaches over a thousand entries.

  2. OrangeTsunami says:

Yep. I may not follow the regular season that close, but playoff hockey is great! So intense! I don’t really have a team, b/c I moved away from Denver before the Nordiques came to town, but I do lie the Rangers.. I actually like to watch all the older teams, not a big fan of the over expansion.. I used to go to DU games back in the day, great times!

  3. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Whats up everyone?

All this Manning talk is good. I dont see why people are saying sign him then trade Tebow. Tebow could learn from him. See unlike Painter Tebow actually want to improve and learn. I remember reading some things about how Painter wasnt taking advice and what not. I just dont see Manning coming to Denver. He still wants guaranteed money and a lot of it. I dont think the FO will be willing to dish it out. Plus Just cause its Manning doesnt guarantee us that we will win the SB let alone the division. I say we save the money spend it elsewhere that can improve the team for mane that 2-3 years. Williams Soliai Carr

  4. OrangeTsunami says:

*I do like the Rangers.. Lol

  5. killerkod says:

didn’t you hear alaskan? We’re trading TT and bringing in Peyton and unretiring Favre as the back-up. Orton will come back cause no one else will sign him and be the third stringer………….LMAO

  6. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Oh God……..That would be horrible……

  7. killerkod says:

I agree OT………over expansion has hurt the skill level of the league and hockey in markets that just don’t support it is stupid. That’s why I’m so glad the jets came back………winnigeg is an awesome hockey town and they’re supporting it bigtime……….more than atlanta ever did. Now we need to get the coyotes away from phoenix and put them in Quebec City!

  8. killerkod says:

but look at the experience we’d have on the roster…………hahaha

  9. ScalptheChiefs says:

GO AVS GO!! they are my fav hockey team, born and raised in Ontario but my 2 favorite sports teams are both in Denver lol.

@TRB the post you made about saying you wouldnt cheat on the Broncos was hilarious.

  10. OrangeTsunami says:

Agreed! Arizona, Texas, California, Florida, and Tennessee have no business having a hockey team – NONE! We need to keep teams in Canada! I was glad to see the Jets go back to Winnipeg, but wish they went with the old sweaters.. The new ones aren’t bad, but the old ones were great. Btw, those Oilers teams of old were amazing! Brings me back to my childhood!

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

If the Dolphins get Manning the Redskins get Flynn I dont think there would be a trade. The Browns could snag RG3 at 4 and save all there picks. Manning and Flynn could have screwed the Rams trying to trade #2

  12. alaskanbronco06 says:

The need to put a Pro hockey team in Alaska. Alaska is really big here.

  13. Applejack says:

The trade talks are based on a tweet from Denver sports guy Vic Lombardi. He said his sources said if Manning comes Tebow will be traded because the two cant coexist.

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Hockey is really big here.

  15. alaskanbronco06 says:

Signing Manning will do more harm than good. He probably wont play like he did. With his neck the smallest tweak of his neck could put him on the bench and possibly end his career. Not to mention the money we would put out for him. Thats money we could use elsewhere.

With Tebow we can continue to build the team. Help Tebow improve and grow. The money could be used elsewhere to help the team for more than 2-3 years.

  16. brian_schneider says:

Bringing in Manning and trading Tebow is what the Broncos want to do. 1st, it brings in a veteran who a young QB could learn lot from, 2nd, it gets rid of Tebow a guy Elway and Fox don’t like nor want to invest anything in, 3rd, then they’ll get to draft their QB of the future this season to learn from Manning for a few seasons, 4th, Manning will win a Super Bowl as a Bronco.

Basically the Broncos can get rid of Tebow without making it look like they don’t like Tebow.

  17. millertime2 says:

Hey, good afternoon bronco country. The bears said their not going to bring back Hanie, what do you guys think for a backup to Tebow

  18. DenverCB says:

I wouldnt mind Hanie as a back up hes played well enough to be considered. Mobile too so he can run somewhat of a tebow offence.

  19. alaskanbronco06 says:

Just cause its Manning doesnt mean he WILL win anything. Everyone seems to have this illusion that he will automatically win because its Manning.

  20. millertime2 says:

@DenverCB: Yah thats what I was thinking Bro, Hes played pretty good when hes had the chance.

  21. millertime2 says:

Alaska how do you feel about Hanie?

  22. brian_schneider says:

Just cause its Tebow doesn’t mean he WON’T win anything. Everyone seems to have this illusion that he will automatically not win because its Tebow.

  23. alaskanbronco06 says:

Also @Brian how do you know what the Broncos what to do? Are you part of the FO?

  24. millertime2 says:

I still think the broncos are high on the kid from arizona Osweiler

  25. alaskanbronco06 says:

I like Tebow and think he will be much improved next season. He came in after no offseason and taking next to no snaps with the first team to going 7-4 making the playoffs and beating the Steelers before the D failed to show up against the Pats.

  26. alaskanbronco06 says:

Osweiler will go early and i dont see Denver taking a QB in the first 4 rounds. Also i like Hanie but i think McNabb or Gerrard are better options IMO

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

Im getting worried. I havnt seen anything about Denver trying to resign players or trying to restructure deals. Im getting real worried……

Williams Soliai Carr come to Denver!!!!!!

  28. millertime2 says:

Ok we know you like tebow LOL and so do we. But theirs going to be 4QBs at camp, whats your thoughts on who that will be. We know their going to draft one, we know theyll get one via FA, and they will most likely keep weber so whats your thoughts Alaska on who they should be?

  29. brian_schneider says:

The above comment about what the Broncos want to do was supposed to be sarcastic. Since all this is is text and I can’t use italic text. I could use LOL or something but a sarcastic comment doesn’t always mean that I’m laughing out loud. I guess I could have used quotation marks. That’s all it was just a throw away comment.

  30. millertime2 says:

Gerrard before Mcnabb anyday, McNabs work Ethic isnt very good from what people say.

  31. alaskanbronco06 says:

I like Wilson or Moore. Wilson is a mobile QB and has a better arm than Tebow and Moore although short is very accurate very football smart and is good at reading the D. In FA i said who i like up above.

  32. alaskanbronco06 says:

Yea people say it but a lot of players have said otherwise. I prefer Gerard over McNabb because Gerard is a little younger.

  33. sndvl says:

    From Jason LaCanfora at NFL.com

The official salary cap numbers for the 2012 season will be released by Friday, league sources said on Thursday.

The final cap figure will be very similar to last season’s cap of around $120 million. Once the new cap number is known, teams then will receive the exact values of their respective franchise tags. The value of the franchise tags, however, should be very close to the projected numbers, according to sources.

  34. millertime2 says:

@Alaska ive been watching every on tv to get some news on our free agents. Im thinking monday they will have one big list of who their going to keep, im dying for some bronco news thats for sure

  35. Applejack says:

    /sarc.

Sarc tag for when the comment before the tag was meant in sarcasm. .

  36. millertime2 says:

gerard also played for JDR, so kinda knows his ways, even tho hes a defensive mind.

  37. millertime2 says:

AJ that post earlier was halarius bro lmao.

  38. alaskanbronco06 says:

I am too. They are getting a game plan. Who they will target in FA setting the max offer who they want to resign and a gameplan for the draft. I do think that before long we will start to see more and more resignings.

  39. millertime2 says:

I really think, once we see who they target in FA, will also let us know the direction the team is going in. I do agree we should keep on the same track were on, instead of getting manning.

  40. brian_schneider says:

After seeing the aftermath of McD I really think they’re putting a lot of emphasis on doing things strategically beneficial to the Broncos.

  41. millertime2 says:

@brian I agree and it feels good to have a plan instore.

  42. brian_schneider says:

Plus they want to be careful because isn’t it next season they have to spend like 90% of their salary cap or something like that?

  43. alaskanbronco06 says:

    LMAO TRB!

I cant wait to see what they do. Many people are saying Soliai is a big target for the Chiefs Williams with SD Carr is the Cowboys and Bengals. All three to Denver!!!

  44. millertime2 says:

Brian didnt we spend like 98% of cap last yr.

  45. millertime2 says:

I just heard Texans trying to work out deal with Williams as we speak.

  46. alaskanbronco06 says:

I dont think so. We are rolling over 27 mil from last year. We have 23 from this year. Thats why we have 50 mil

  47. strandoftds says:

I heard on 104.3 the Fan that all teams are to spend 90% of their cap this season. I don`t know if its true or not but thats what I heard.

  48. brian_schneider says:

We may have but isn’t the league rule that teams are “required” to spend a certain percentage of their salary cap.
