Broncos Madden 13 Cover Candidates

March 7th, 2012 - 2:53pm by Gray Caldwell

It’s almost time to start filling out those brackets for the NCAA Tournament.

But there’s another bracket Broncos fans — and Madden fans — might be even more interested in.

The tournament to determine the cover athlete for Madden NFL ’13 is now live, but it’s up to Broncos fans to decide who will represent the franchise in the 32-man bracket.

Quarterback Tim Tebow, who helped direct Denver to the AFC West title, and linebacker Von Miller, last season’s Defensive Rookie of the Year, are in the running during the two-week, play-in round.

From now until March 21, Broncos fans can vote on SportsNation’s Facebook page for either Tebow or Miller to advance to the next round.

The winners of the play-in round for each team will be announced on ESPN on March 21, when fans can continue voting round-by-round to decide who will grace the Madden cover.

Last season, the vote for the cover generated more than 13 million votes as fans chose Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis.

Voting is now open.

Nice chatting with you all, have a good night!

  3. alaskanbronco06 says:

Yes i know about McGahee. How many surgeries did he have on it? Also a blown out knee isnt something that can occur from the slightest hit. Manning neck is. It can reoccur from the slightest touch or tweak of it. He had THREE surgeries. He was also being discussed that his career was over. That shows a lot about his injury too. That they were discussing him being done.

  4. ColoradoBoy says:

Do you guys ever think about wearing a diaper to the broncos games. i hate having to leave the stands to go pee!

    Just saying…Manning sucks

  5. alaskanbronco06 says:

    LMAO @ ColoradoBoy.

IMO I just dont think Manning is worth that much with the questions about his neck.

  6. ColoradoBoy says:

    smiggidy smack

  7. millertime2 says:

Anyways gotta watch me some NFL NET talk at you tomorrow Alaska, nice discussing things with you.

  8. Orange_Crusher says:

Payton won’t come in and learn McCoy’s offense, he will come in and make the whole offense learn his system and how is that going to benefit a rebuilding team like the Broncos?

It won’t really, it will just be a shot in the dark to try to win the SB in the next year or two if old Paytons neck can hold out… Just another band aid type of idea that will set the future of the team back when Elway appears to want to rebuild the team through the draft and build for the future..

Why would he go for the quick fix and cobble something together with Payton for a couple years and then start over again? Humm… doesn’t seem like a solid way to rebuild a team.jomho….

    ILMSDB!!!!!

  9. alaskanbronco06 says:

The Seachckens Dolphins Cardinals and Redskins are more thank willing to offer him a big contract…. IMO The Dolphins still have the edge for a few different reasons.

  10. ColoradoBoy says:

Wearing a diaper at my age would be a raw awesome experience! THE REAL RALLY CAP YO!

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

You to Miller i always enjoy a good debate.

  12. alaskanbronco06 says:

Crusher good point. I never thought about that.

  13. millertime2 says:

OC, we would still have TT, and a superbowl would be a nice band aid. We would still be biulding with him, when he leaves we would be fine all the peaces in place.

  14. ColoradoBoy says:

It’s fun to talk about the idea of Manning…but i would be pissed if the organixzation brought him in. We have to start a foundation from the draft not quick fixes.

Im talking big homies..im talking heavy weights…im from colorado baby..you mess with me i drop you off in front of my heavy weights! OKAY

  15. millertime2 says:

RT on my fellow Bronco friends have a very nice night.

  16. ColoradoBoy says:

    WEEEEN!

  17. bleedorange77 says:

It’s one thing if we are worried of Manning’s injury to a certain extent. But to say he is too old is premature. He is 35 and will be 36 later this year and I think broncoland remembers who won 2 SB for us? He wore lucky number 7

  18. Broncos LAX says:

OHHHH NOOO!!! Isn’t 18 retired? Lol Maning would need to sitch

  19. alaskanbronco06 says:

Williams Soliai and Carr are all young enough to help our team for years to come.

  20. Orange_Crusher says:

    Just one last thing…

Putting Tebow on the bench will only set his development back.

You learn how to be a better football player on the field, not on the bench. jmho

Tebow can always watch film of Payton if he wants to learn what he does…

It’s also my opinion that players like Aaron Rogers didn’t learn as much by watching Favre from the bench as opposed to losing critical playing time and years of development on the field, and possibly winning more SB’s…

example: Jim Ersay had to release Manning because Andrew Luck refused to sit on the bench and watch Payton play for a year or two..

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

Crusher just to let you know both Luck and RG3 said that they had no issues with sitting behind Manning…..

  22. imready says:

Payton being let go was all about money. The team had a 2 win season for a reason, they need players.
I doubt we are serious about Manning, it goes against everything that has been planned over the last year to build this franchise back to greatness. Smoke screen is my guess but you never know, this is the NFL.

  23. trubronco2585 says:

do not vote for tebow or miller…the madden curse is in full effect and i’d rather go further in the playoffs then see them on the cover of madden….we need both of them.

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

    MADDEN IS A RAIDER!!!!!

That’s exactly why there is a curse on that thing!!! LOL…

No Madden for our Bronco Boys!!!!!!

    Vote for Tom Brady!! hahaha….lol

  25. ColoradoBoy says:

Uhh..more like Phillp “weak sauce” Rivers should be on the cover of madden

  26. ColoradoBoy says:

I like my quarterbacks with lots of spice..Duh

    RIGHT ON SKI

  27. strandoftds says:

Evening Royalty, long time no see. Well kind of. LOL

  28. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Hows it going Strand

  29. strandoftds says:

Hey Alaska, looks like your still bleeding orange?

  30. alaskanbronco06 says:

Always. FA is getting closer and closer.

  31. strandoftds says:

I`m ready for some FA. Lets build the D.

  32. alaskanbronco06 says:

    Williams Soliai and Carr!!!!

  33. denver0723 says:

Tebow’s popularity could bite him on this one. Think about how many haters will vote Tebow just to see if he falls victim to the Madden Curse?

Although knowing Tebow, he would wind up being the only Madden Cover Boy to have a great season.

  34. alaskanbronco06 says:

I dont know. Not a lot of people believe in the Madden curse and wont want to see someone they hat eon the cover.

  35. WieminCA says:

Manning would be perfect for the Broncos … just think what “you know who” could learn from him in a couple of years … of course, the Tebow lovers in Denver would revolt and it would be just another repeat of the circus of last year, and there’s no way that #18 wouuld be a part of that … so relax, Tebow lovers …

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

I also want to add 18 isnt available in Denver. Its retired. I wonder if Manning would be willing to wear a different number….Who knows. Some players want to keep their number no matter what team they go to.

Also I dont think EFX will be willing to dish out the money to match what other teams are going to be offering. Seahawks Redskins and Dolphins have been throwing out huge numbers for what they might offer him.

  37. sndvl says:

Just saw the Jags agreed to a 1 year deal with Rashean Mathis…

  38. imready says:

We don’t need M. Williams to become a great defense, we need some DT beef among other things.

Woody , that guy, just when you think he’s making sense he has P. Manning going to the Texans. Matt Shaub is a very good QB, if it wasn’t for injuries they may have made it to the superbowl. They have good depth at the QB position, why would they cripple their team financially to sign Payton? They are already financially strained and may lose super mario because of it, signing Manning makes no sense at all for the Texans.

It the job of the personal guys to look into each and every player that becomes available to try and make Broncos a better team. No way we sign Manning. It will be interesting to see who we do sign. Woody may have it right that we will be looking at mostly second tier players, we did pretty good with Bunkley, finding teams with depth at positions we need to improve at is the smart way to handle free agency. I do think if they can make the right deal we may sign one big name, we’ve got the money to do that without crippling the team. The time is getting near where we will find out what new players will be joining the squad for next season. Go Broncos!

  39. 1nOnlyTRB says:

For the record getting Manning wouldn’t mean this team has abandonned getting young and building through the draft. Its just one position. A team can be built while a superstar QB makes alot out of nothing. And our team is not that talented. Much like the colts that suck but manning took every year.

Just so you also know … sitting behind mannign doesn’t guarantee a star … look at curtis painter … he had the best ahead of him .. still sucked … so did sorgi.

Peyton no peyton … im cool either way. And don’t worry … the front office isn’t stupid .. they won’t sink money into manning without protecting themselves. If theres one thing the broncos have become, its spend conscious. I will say one thing … the vets on this team will want Peyton … not because they don’t believe in TT but because thier time is short for a Super Bowl and Manning is a proven monster. Might not come back the same level but i think he does and he balls hard. Just my opinion tho.

As far as kirkpatrick … he woulda been nice to have but even if he gets past everyone including the cow boys and the bengals (twice) … he won’t get past the lions at 23 … we are on the butt end of the draft … all we gonna have is what people allow us to lol

  40. Applejack says:

I agree imready. Shaub was playing great before he got hurt. Texans are happy with him.

Hate to say it, but Tebow’s better off getting traded. It looks like the Broncos are thick in the Manning hunt. It’s not just this one incicdent. It’s the complete lack of support from Elway. Elway doesnt believe in Tebow, so he’ll always be looking for the better deal.

It’s like a man with 6 out of control kids who marries a woman. She’s not the best looking gal on the planet but she’s kind, gentle, and patient. She loves the kids and the kids love her. (except for the youngest brat. That’s Carnage by the way).

But the man wants the babe. The super model who looks great on his arm. He can take her to any bar/restaurant/function and all the other guys will stare in envy.

Man meets just such a babe. He doesn’t know if she can cook, budget, or run a household of 6 kids, but she’s a babe. So, man divorces the not so beautiful gal for vavavaboom. 2 of the kids are in dispair and weeping. 3 of the kids are in a wait and see mode to see if babe is going to be a nice step mom. The youngest kid is like “he** yeah! Way to go dad. It was time to dump the bowser!

Homely and dumped the ex wife goes to a plastic surgeon, becomes even more beautiful than new wife, marries a zillionaire and wins 4 Superbowls.

    The end

  41. 1nOnlyTRB says:

tried to keep everything within the analogy until the 4 superbowls.

Manning could also be seen as the cougar. Knows what she is doing, is successful has done it before and can rock you world. Still looks good in her old age and has alot to offer … until u start dating and realizing she isn’t as hot as u think and that u can’t get married to her because of the extreme age difference. The fact that she is recently divorced doesn’t help and she is damaged (neck). Just saying lol

I don’t think we are that thick in a mannign hunt. I believe they still like Tebow but i also know, even as a Tebow faithful, Manning will be like the only guy i would understand if they brought in … he is freaking peyton manning. The peyton manning. Hate it or love it, you would be foolish not to inquire and see his physical status. Im sure alot of teams are looking in … and im sure the raiders feel stupid for trading alot of picks for Carson when they coulda had mannign for free.

Miami and Arizona come up alot … i don’t think they are more superbowl contenders than the broncos but yet the idea of him to them makes more sense than him to us for whatever reason. I can’t wait to see where he lands … im pretty sure it aint here but ill entertain the notion.

  42. killerkod says:

    lol @ applejack…………

I’m not sure where all this speculation is coming from. I highly doubt that the tight pockets of Mr. Bowlen will open up to pay what Manning will command as an FA. I’m sure he’s going to want some garuanteed money……..not just performance based pay and I don’t see Denver as the team to offer that at this point.

I think JE rides with TT this coming season and makes his evaluation from that. If, after next season, he doesn’t see TT as the franchise guy he wants, then we’ll be looking elsewhere for a new QB.

Either that or he is traded to the jags at the draft and we move in a completely different direction. But I think the thought of manning coming here is a little far-fetched and just hype.

  43. 1nOnlyTRB says:

The man will decide where he goes and he has alot of stipulations:

“Manning, according to my sources close to him, wants to play for a team with a genuine chance to get the Super Bowl next season. He prefers a dome (he has won more than 70 percent of his games in a dome), a team with good offensive talent in place (including a solid offensive line), a team with a good defense, a team in the AFC, a team willing to sign a couple of his close associates (receiver Reggie Wayne, for one; center Jeff Saturday for another), a team willing to let him run the show and make calls on the field, and a team willing to give him a lot of guaranteed bonus money and a contract longer than one year.”

  44. killerkod says:

maybe he should just audition to be a full-time cast member on SNL. lol

  45. killerkod says:

He’s def calling all the shots, eh? I’m sure his agent’s phone has been ringing non-stop since yesterday. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out, but like I said before……..I don’t think we’re a player and I’m totally fine with that.

  46. Applejack says:

Just having fun with all the drama.

Good cougar theme TRB. I have no idea what’s going to happen. I’m about ready for the off season to be over though…..LOL. And I can’t read Klis from the Post anymore. He’s clearly bipolar and off his meds.

  47. imready says:

It takes a lot more than a great QB to win superbowls, otherwise, Indy would have more than one trophy after all the years P. Manning has been at the helm. On the other hand, Trent Dilfer won a superbowl. Build the defense, build it to sustain greatness.
T Tebow. To me, this season he has to prove he is “the guy” or we move on without him. He’ll need to make dramatic improvement in some areas to be the leader of this team for the next ten years. Also, I don’t think a trade is ever out of the question if deal is sweet enough. I think it would take some doing to get him away from the Broncos as popular as he is. This year may also be the best time to do it , considering he lead the team to the playoffs. Don’t know if that’s the best move for the Broncos but I’m sure that they will look at everything that comes across the wire. Just like they are looking at Payton. I think all teams operate in similiar fashion, always looking for deals that will better their team.

  48. 1nOnlyTRB says:

indeed, imready … the decision is the decision. Ill trust it … what choice do i got? lol. I’ve long realized im married to the broncos and no matter if the cheat on me or not agree with me im not getting a divorce lol. Ill forget soon enough … not unless its mcdaniels stupid lol
