Broncos Invite Fans to ‘Back to Football’ Pep Rally

September 7th, 2012 - 10:43am by Tyler Everett

Fans eager for the start of the 2012 season, which kicks off Sunday night at 6:20 p.m. MDT at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, are encouraged to head downtown this evening at 5 p.m. for the Broncos’ “Back to Football” Pep Rally.

The event will take place at Skyline Park (16th and Arapahoe) and feature appearances by former Broncos Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson, Billy Thompson and Ebenezer Ekuban, as well as current players including running back Willis McGahee, tight end Joel Dreessen, linebacker Joe Mays, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and linebacker Wesley Woodyard. The alumni are scheduled to be there from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with McGahee and his teammates attending from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Joining the current and former players will be both Thunder and Miles the mascots, the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and a live band. Attendees will also get to enjoy food and drink specials, autographs, photo opportunities and merchandise giveaways.

Fans can also win prizes by telling the Broncos about their plans for “Back to Football Friday.” Downtown businesses are encouraged to have their employees participate in tonight’s event, and the winning offices will be rewarded with United Club tickets for the home opener and visits from Broncos celebrities, courtesy of Einstein Bros. Bagels.

In addition, registered schools are in the running for a $10,000 NFL Play 60 grant from the NFL. There’s also a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans for fans who visit www.NFL.com/backtofootball.

As part of the festivities, fans are encouraged to wear orange to Sunday’s season-opener, as the Broncos will be wearing their home orange jerseys against the Steelers. Those attending the game will receive an orange rally towel, courtesy of Bud Light.

“(Moreno) worked extremely hard, and he deserves a lot of the credit for that,” offensive coordinator Mike McCoy said. “I think he saw what Willis had done over his career after a knee injury (in 2002), and that gave him a little bit of motivation. He’s made the most of every opportunity we’ve given him.”

I don’t know if I can remember seeing K. Moreno run as hard as he did in the preseason against the 49′ers, he was really finishing runs and punishing the defense. If he keeps his intensity at that level we will have a heck of a 1-2 punch in the backfield, he reminded me of W. MeGahee. Just one more thing to get excited about this Denver Bronco team.

Great story about LB Johnson in the news section. I was thrilled that the Broncos kept both he and Danny T., I don’t think the light coming on will bother either of those young talented linebackers. I’m excited about their future with the Broncos.

Who is running the prediction contest this year?

  21. killerkod says:

That would be turtle milehigh……just make a post that just states *Season Prediction Contest* with your entry.

Do the same for the game score prediction…….he’s reading through the blogs to pick them up……and it makes it easier to spot when it’s a post on it’s own rather then mixed in the middle of something else.
