I see it’s ” Ask Moreno a Question” week. Hmmmmmm…this could get interesting.

My question, which prob won’t get asked, ” Why do you terribly suck so bad on short yardage situations?

  4. mcdanielsdomain09 says:

killerkod quit bein a hater. Moreno is a great player

  5. MadDawgMac says:

Killerkod didn’t your Mama ever tell you that if you do not have something nice to say don’t say anything at all? Moreno is leading all Rookies.Be glad he is playing for the Bronco’s instead of the Chiefs. Most folks work better on compliments than on folks jabbing them hiding behind an e-mail curtain.

    Frank McDaniel

  6. killerkod says:

I’m not being a hater…I’m just stating the obvious. He has not performed in short yardage situations all year, so why is continually put out there? Those are key moments in a game and shouldn’t you have your best players out there? In my opinion, he is not the best player for that situation.

I’d love to see him bust some runs and make those conversions to help our team win……but HE HASN’T. It’s just the facts dude.

  7. killerkod says:

MadDawg: I thought this blog was for fans to cheer on and also vent their frustrations…….

He’s a pro athelete…..if he’s not performing then he’s subject to criticism. You can’t honestly sit there and tell me he’s performed in short yardage situations this year and you’re happy the coach keeps calling his number in those situations. I’m sure he’s not very happy with himself and is probably just as frustrated as us that he hasn’t converted those opportunities.

  8. ArmChairCoaches says:

I think i gotta agree with killerkod..we signed Moreno as our first rounder thanks to McD..I think we deserve better from a first round draft pick….

  9. The JoEL says:

wow, people chill out! its his first year, give him a break!! no one says its going to be easy in the nfl! give the kid another year or 2, could be the next TD, i bet if that happens u guys would stop talking. o one more thing, he’s playing fantastic for his first year and probably will win rookie of the year or something.

  10. Broncfalls says:

IF YOU’RE GOING TO CALL OUT ANYONE DURING SHORT YARDAGE PLAYS, HOW ABOUT THE OFFENSIVE LINE!!!!

Yes, I support ALL of our players and that includes Moreno! With that said, don’t you dare sit there and tell me that ANY of those short yardage plays were his fault! THAT’S CRAP!

Our offensive line got owned on short yardage! PERIOD! i love our line, I’m not trying to be dissrespectful to them as well. Yesterday they simply got beat off the ball on every short yardage play!

    Guys/Gals,

We got a very talented RB in Moreno & Buck. But….COME ON! are you serious! Yeah, I see some things too that I don’t necessarily like. Some of his stutter steps gotta go away and hit the hole. But again, yesterday was not even his play. Our offensive line was giving up WAY to much penetration!

It was too the point that when friends and family members saw me and talked about the game I offered up :

“You know, to my surprise, our offensive line was just not playing well today.”

We ran HARD on 1st and 2nd downs. 3rd and 4th…it was a long day out there.

I also believe you’re seeing for the first time some misscommunication out there on the line. The sack on Orton. That LB came untouched. That’s communication. I’m not saying anything other than the Oline didn’t play their best game yesterday.

….what I do know is those short yardage plays weren’t going anywhere no matter who you put back there.

Challenge the complete call? Yes….but putting it on Moreno? No……

BRUSH THIS OFF BOYS! WE GOT OURSELVES SOME FOOTBALL GAMES TO WIN!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

Some fans think that just because they are a first round draft pick they should be able to be thrown into the fire and not get burned. Are you kidding me?? Every single rookie has some things to learn regardless of how fundemental they are. Someone posted on one of the other blogs if Smith was worth the first round pick we traded to get him. We have talented CBs and Smith will get his chance to show. He hasn’t gotten too many chances this year but he has had some and he showed he could be good. You gotta let them learn some things.
If you’re going to call out Moreno for short yardage stuff, they you better call Orton out of his INTs, you better call the O-line out for false start penalties and holding, and allowing penetration, you better call Champ, Goody, and Dawk out for being out of position.
Moreno is going to be our homerun threat. He’s green and he’s got a lot of learning to do along with all the rookies and younger guys. Heck even the veterans like Champ, Goody, Hill, and Dawkins say they still learn some things from each other and stuff. Just my opinion.

    Go Broncos!!!!

  12. killerkod says:

My argument here is that he has proven all season not to be good in short yardage situations……so why does the coach keep calling his number every time?

  13. brian_schneider says:

@killerkod: I do agree that he hasn’t been that good in short yardage situations. One of the things with short yardage situations is they stack 9,10, sometimes 11 in the box, especially when it is a goaline type situation. When you get the box stacked if you can get through there you can break off a huge gainer sometimes even a TD cuz everyone is still in the box getting blocked. I think that he’s hoping Moreno may get a better feel of picking his lane and going with it and thus making him a better short yardage runner. He won’t ever get better at it if he gets taken out for short yardage situations. Also if we bring in a different HB for short yardage situations then we might be showing our had a bit too early. I think McD’s hope is to make Moreno into an every down back.

    Go Broncos!!!!

  15. broncos20 says:

    excellent point brian,

    killerrod,
i think our O-line is built for speed…we cant expect him to replicate Peterson’s rookie year,,,he is just as talented as Peterson,,we’ve all seen his potential in college…
peterson is gifted, so is Knowshon, but AP had one of the best and biggest OLs to run behind(birk,hutch,mckini)..

back to the bloggs point, Broncos-Eagles….cant be any exciting than this…Broncos havent played them for so long..

  16. broncos504 says:

he cant ran if the dam whole colts Lbs is in the backfield when he get the ball so i blame it on the oline or mcd playcalling how about a pass to a fb or Tightend

  17. broncos20 says:

this game could be the most electrifying this year next to the first Chargers game. playmakers on both sides…

  18. broncos504 says:

what yall want for him to break 3 tackle behind the line and then get the first down man i like knowshon and the way he ran he is a rookie he will get better we should be mad a mcd because he should have realish he need to call a new play like a pass to fullback or tightend

  19. schefffffffff says:

    1st Post!

Beanie Wells (rookie) as well as frank gore both pushed 3 defenders into the end zone last night with no blocking on the goal line. knowshon has had his shot (i like him as an overall back) and i believe that hillis would be our better option. brian_schneider, as for showing our hand if we bring hillis in every 3 or 4 – 1 it will be impossible to tell what we are going to do offensively. he gives us a heavier meaner running back without losing anything in the passing game and probably improve our blocking

  20. ManelyOrange says:

I just want to see McDaniels utilize more weapons on offense. So far it’s the Moreno/Buckhalter and Marshall show. Why can’t we use Hillis in short yardage? McD says it’s because Larsen was hurt. Well, he wasn’t hurt ALL season, yet Hillis rarely makes an appearance. Also, it seems that better teams know what a tight end is and know how to use a 3rd down receiver. Stokely makes rare appearances, too. For an offensive genius, McD isn’t very creative or open-minded. Look at Brees and Manning. They use 6,7 and 8 different receivers in any given game. They also have the luxury of having coaches who have enough brains to use a specific 3rd down and short back. I see alot of good things with McD, but the Broncos aren’t doing anything in the playoffs if we continue to use just 4 guys on offense: Orton, Moreno, Buckhalter and Marshall. Anyone seen Royal anywhere?

  21. champ24thebeast says:

    goodness people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

holy cow lay off the broncos. they are our team sure….and we are frustrated that we lost, but man in the end we are jsut fans. the coaches know best of when and who and what to use in short yardage…offensive wepons, whatever lay off of mckd and moreno….bot h of them.. they are EACH IN THEIR FIRST YEAR. GIVE THEM BOTH TIME ESPECIALLY MORENO.

  22. champ24thebeast says:

killercoid…he probly gives him chances cuz he knows better than u do.

  23. champ24thebeast says:

cant believe bronco fans are actually saying stuff like they are the coach.

  24. champ24thebeast says:

I think Brian_Snighder summed it very well.!

  25. Laura T. says:
