Broncos Depart for Buffalo

December 22nd, 2011 - 1:36pm by Kenny Legan

With up to a foot of snow accumulating in the past 24 hours, the Denver Broncos practiced inside Thursday before departing to Buffalo.

The team used the half-field turf surface behind the weight room. However, the close quarters wasn’t an issue as the team was able to run through its practice.

“It wasn’t bad, similar to the place I have used in the past with another team,” Head Coach John Fox said. “I thought we got our work done, and didn’t risk injury going out in the snow covered field. I think we got done what we get done on an in-season type Friday practice.”

Safeties David Bruton and Brian Dawkins were limited Thursday. Fox said Dawkins’ availability for Saturday’s game isn’t known yet.

“A lot of it is just how he feels, understanding that there are some pretty big collisions that can occur during games and make sure he’s healthy enough to withstand those,” Fox said.

The team departs for Buffalo this afternoon on another two-day trip due to the 1 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday.

INJURY REPORT

Here is Thursday’s injury report.

For the BRONCOS:

LIMITED: Safeties David Bruton (Achilles) and Brian Dawkins (neck).

FULL: Defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley (knee), running back Willis McGahee (hamstring), tight end Daniel Fells (thumb) and linebacker Von Miller (thumb).

For the BILLS:

DID NOT PRACTICE: Tight end Lee Smith (fibula), running back Johnny White (concussion), wide receiver Martin Ruvell (hamstring).

LIMITED: Tight end Scott Chandler (ankle), wide receiver Stevie Johnson (groin).

A lot of you folks were writing about your ‘care’ packages and such and others writing about the loss of parents. I lost my mother May 7th 2010.(it was her 67th birthday) Since I have been on my own since 17 years of age, and since my mother was ill for almost 20 years, in many ways I hardly knew my mother. One thing I can never forget is mom’s holiday cooking. It is a huge blessing to have family!

  2. daddybronc says:

I think it means we get Jets / Cincy / or Titans. Right?

I think anyone of those choices are better than BAL or PIT. All the QB injuries are very much working towards the Broncos backing into the Super Bowl.

Now I’m jumping ahead of Bay, but I find it hilarious to contemplate.

  3. seweatherman1 says:

30 degrees in Buffalo is almost like 30 degrees in Florida. A lot of moisture in the air. I would have to research it a bit, but if I am not mistaken, he played a game or two in freezing weather in college.

  4. strandoftds says:

Sounds about right. Hey it could happen.

  5. daddybronc says:

    Oooooh.

Could we actually end up playing San Diego?

  6. daddybronc says:

I prefer PIT to SD! Rivers looked scary good again in that last game.

  7. strandoftds says:

Not even! S.D. won`t even be in the equation. LOL

  8. strandoftds says:

The Lions are going to beat the Chargers, no worries there.

  9. strandoftds says:

I`d be more concerned about the Oakland vs S.D.

  10. daddybronc says:

The Lions only beat the Raiders by one point.

  11. seweatherman1 says:

daddtbronc, not to fret to much on the children getting married. They always know where home is and when they return, they bring more with them. All 4 of my children are married. My son came home a couple years ago with his daughter to stay with us. Basically because his employment ended in TN and him being split from his spouse, he came back home. We are glad he did because withg my medical condition he has been a huge help here to us. My oldest daughter split from her husband and she and her two children live right across the street. My youngest daughter with her husband and two children live about a half mile from us and our oldest son with his wife and two children live about two miles from us.

you know I find it funny when people say … long time reader first time commentor … makes me remember like “man … lotta people read these blogs and our comments that never comment” lol … but we sure carryon talking to each other like we are in our own lil world. Like the convos about music, personal stories, back on forth on religion and faith and so much more. Lol Its just funny to me for some reason.

    Oh yea.

    GO BRONCOS! TRB

  13. strandoftds says:

In Oakland to boot. This game is in Detroit, homefield on the Lions side.

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I dont care about them chargers … all I care about is Broncos win, Raiders lose to chiefs – Merry Christmas see you in the play offs lol. Thats all i need to see this weekend. Man chiefs will be playing close attention to our game, cause as soon as we win or look like we are winning … their season is over no matter if the win or not lol

    TRB

  15. seweatherman1 says:

TRB, makes me feel like we are all brother and sisters. The way we talk about ourselves it lets everybody get to know us a little better, which make us a little closer as friends.

That is how I see it anyway.

  16. strandoftds says:

I love talking about my Broncos. But its cool to hear from other fans and what they like to do and believe in or whatnot. We`re all human my friend, and have a story.

  17. seweatherman1 says:

That is right. We win tomorrow, the Chiefs are out. That means our defense can beat Orton next week for revenge!!!

  18. daddybronc says:

One good thing is I have 13 tries to get it right.

Working my tail off to avoid those splits. These young men interested in my daughters e-mail me daily. I do a lot of work with them on marriage skills.

My daughters and I have the deal where they wear my ring or key – giving me the key to their heart – until it is replaced by the suitors ring. I tell these guys that if they break my daughters heart, I’m going to hunt them down like the dirty dog they have become. LOL

I’m one of six – none of us go home. I think the fact that they go home to you Mr. Weatherman – is a credit to your home!

  19. strandoftds says:

We all have one thing in common, we`re all Bronco fans, the best Team and Organization in football. I`m a huge Pat Bowlen fan because he`s not afraid to spend money, to Mr. Bowlen, it`s about winning Championships. I highly repect our owner.

  20. seweatherman1 says:

I will say it makes it easy at holiday time. I mean that with no disrespect to your situation daddybronc, because I know it will be really hard with them in Japan during the holidays.

  21. daddybronc says:

Every time I see Bowlen he looks more unhealthy. I hope he still lasts for a while.

  22. seweatherman1 says:

I am outta here guys. Got to hit the rack and get my o2 on.

Only 10 hours left for predictions!

  23. strandoftds says:

Daddy, your a brother after my own heart. I know were your coming from. I live and breath what you are accomplishing with your kids. Totally awesome!!!!

  24. daddybronc says:

haha – I made her fiance’ set up a special account just for travel. He has promised me he’ll make it to our home at least every other year. We’ll see…. but Skype is an amazing tools these days. I just want to squeeze me some grandchild!

  25. royalbroncofan1 says:

Will Dareus get back at the Broncos?

“Prior to the season, Buffalo rookie defensive lineman Marcell Dareus said he had the Bills’ Christmas Eve game against Denver circled. Dareus was offended the Broncos didn’t draft him with the No. 2 pick and said he wanted to show the Broncos what they missed. Dareus was one of a handful of defensive players the Broncos considered, but they ultimately opted for Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller. Dareus was scooped up by the Bills with the next pick and has been solid. The Alabama product has 38 tackles and 5.5 sacks so far.

The Broncos, however, are not second-guessing their choice. Miller has 11.5 sacks and is a major building block for the franchise going forward.
He is the favorite to win the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award”.

  26. strandoftds says:

If it snows during game time, it`ll be an intersting game.

  27. daddybronc says:

I’m out too – headed to Burbank airport and Christmas party and sight seeing the Christmas lights with friends.

    Merry Christmas all!!!

Don’t forget the prediction deadline TODAY!!! Seemed a little lite on guesses this week.

  28. royalbroncofan1 says:

    Broncos – 23
    Bills – 13

  29. strandoftds says:

And the Bills are going nowhere this year and our Broncos have a darn good chance of making the playoffs. Dareus is no threat wether we win or lose. The deciding factor is K.C. Don`t get me wrong I want to win tomorrow, but not a crucial thing.

  30. strandoftds says:

As a matter of fact, I think we will win convincingly.

  31. royalbroncofan1 says:

I don’t see why Dareus would be offended we didn’t select him….lol.

  32. royalbroncofan1 says:

Bills better be ready to DJ Von Doom because they’re coming after Fitz!!

  33. rayjr26 says:

    OAK 14

Denver will rebound and start fast again, only not turning over the ball in Quarter 2:

    Score Prediction:

    DEN 24
    BUF 13

And I hope DJ Von Doom have a good game. I shall call the trio “DVD.” Then I can childishly coin phrases that make a play on words of DVDs.

    For example,

Every time there is a sack I can proclaim it “The latest release of the Orange Crush DVD.”

Okay so that one was lame. I shall work on it and get back to y’all.

    GO BRONCOS!

    Happy Holidays everyone.

  41. shaztah says:

MISS YOU Bay….I enjoy your morning comments.

  42. oldsouthstander says:

What a lot of you are forgetting about Hillis is that: 1) He’s injured a lot and 2) He fumbles a lot. Very powerful runner, but a lot of bad baggage. Especially the BS he pulled in trying top get a mucho dinero contract. Not very high on my list of ex Broncos I’d like to see back in the fold.

  43. Applejack says:

Im with you oldsouthstander. Good riddance to Hillis!

  44. 1nOnlyTRB says:

He does fumble quite a bit. Alot last year actually as far as the injuries. I dunno if im ready to call him injury prone. If anything I would blame it on the madden curse … yup i believe in it. Called this season as soon as he was on the cover. Plus maybe he is trying to milk em. Im pretty sure after this showing and the fact that they probably wont bring him back, im sure he would be cheap and I wouldn’t mind having him back. Not like he has to carry the full load here and if we keep running like we are running. He could be a nice asset. TRB

  45. WieminCA says:

Buffalo forecast – 33deg, light snow flurries, no significant accumulation, wind 5 – 10 mph – cold but not too bad, for Buffalo in December … a week ago prediction said high about 43 … you can’t go by anything, anymore … how will the Broncos do?? … I’d guess they’ll win, but it will take some doing … Buffalo wants to win after losing so many … we NEED to win, regardless of what we do w/ KC … don’t say “we don’t need it” – you want to face KC HAVING to win?? … if we can’t beat Buffalo, we don’t deserve the playoffs … regardless, we probably don’t have much of a shot to go far, but it would be nice to have a HOME playoff game – give the young guys a taste of what it’s like … for the record, I’ll jump on the bandwagon this week —-

    Denver Broncos 23
    Buffalo Bills 20

That should allow for another Tebow/Prater tandem to pull it out … but kicking in Buffalo will be a lot different than kicking in mile-hi Denver …

My wife’s family comes TOMORROW for Christmas … lucky it’s an early game here – but I’ll have to go to the Casino if I want to see it … don’t know if I’ll get a pass or not … oh, well – you guys and gals do the cheering for me this week, okay?? … geez – gimme some Broncos!!!!!!!!!

  46. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Merry Christmas Weimin and I agree, not only is it not Mile High Air … Cold balls are harder to kick … id rather we win this by at least a TD … but Id rather many things happen that didn’t and some that won’t lol. TRB

  47. strandoftds says:

Alex, pay it no mind. It`s all junk. Tim Tebow will be the first to tell everyone that he is a sinner just like everybody else and that he`s just an ordinary man that servse and loves the Creator, Jesus. No big deal bro. The world will make whatever up to pervert what is good and pure.

  48. canadasbroncfan says:
