The Denver Broncos used all three phases to defeat the Oakland Raiders Sunday at the O.co Coliseum 38-24.
Quarterback Tim Tebow had two touchdown passes and 118 rushing yards. But he wasn’t the highest rusher on the day for Denver, as running back Willis McGahee ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns of his own. Overall, the Broncos put up 299 yards on the ground against the Raiders.
Denver also got it done on defense. Cornerback Champ Bailey picked off Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer twice — the second of which sealed the game for Denver. Cornerback Chris Harris also had an interception, which led directly to a 60-yard touchdown run by McGahee to tie the game 24-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Not to be outdone, the Broncos special teams got into the mix. With 5:53 left in the game, Eddie Royal received a punt and ran 85 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.

Loved watching my beloved Bronco’s kick Raider ass!! Thanks guys. Awesome game. Go TeBow!!!
Also special shout out to PP … Did his thing today … couldn’t have gone wrong with any of the top D cats. TRB
WHOOOOHOOO!!!
this is beyond fantastic!!!
Haha… I was at the game and on the field for military appreciation day. As the team captions walked on the field for the coin toss I gave them all high fives as we walked by!!! And rooted for everyone as well!!! AWESOME!!! As of now I’m 2-0 in OAK.
Congrats Jwscout
a lot of improvements..
we only gave up 2 sacks..way better…
soo stoked to see Champ add more INTs to his record.
Chris Harris stepping up big time..
One big change I saw was Tebow stepping into the the pocket. And the play calling changed in the second half.
Jwscout .. I saw that too … Tebow stepped into the pocket alot … he didn’t scramble from feeling pressure … he stepped up on a few occasions and delivered some strikes. That made me happy too … and the play calling WAS better in the second half. For a sec when we were up and all they were doing was running I was worried and we ended up punting but on the next drive TT took off on a big run … Willis did his thing … they were just confused out there.
But I will say this .. when palmer gets settle in oakland we gonna have problems for like the next 5 years … he can fit them passes in tight places … he is a true QB … something the raiders havent had in a long time and something we have never had to deal with … with his play and McFadden …we might have problems next year … but luckily raiders gave up 2 first round picks too so thats good …. Bengals have themselves a young QB and WR and an additional 2 first round picks … They are headed in the right direction. TRB
I agree. Unfortunately it looks like Palmer and the Raiders are going to be dangerous.
I was thinking that we had no pro bowl worthy people (besides colquit and maybe Von Miller) but if it wasn’t for Arian Foster, Ray Rice and Darren McFadden … I think Willis would have a shot. He has played really well and for a guy that has had to play back up the majority of his career … he deserves it.
I’m hopeful that because he has played back up for so long he might actually have some more tread on his tires than most 30 year olds. It would be nice if we could get two or 3 decent seasons out of him. I’d love it if we could draft Trent Richardson.
And fred jackson … can’t forget Jackson. TRB
BBR …. you got a point … he doesn’t have as much tread and he amazingly came back from a pretty crucial injury. What amazes me is that he outran a very fast Raiders D … He always struck me as more of a bruiser than a speedster but he is faster than I thought. hats off to him. Trent Richardson would require a first round pick wouldn’t he? We got McGahee … and I really think that Fannin guy from training camp could work wonders for us. And of course we still got Moreno as a 3rd down back who aint do too bad sharing the rock with lance ball against the Lions. But DT is still a pretty glaring need. TRB
Yeah that would be nice if Fannin does some things for us. If the draft were today and we had like the 9th pick who would you choose TRB?
A DT … I believe its between Crick and Worthy for who the best DT in this years draft is. Altho Crick got hurt for the season … so Worthy it is. U?
I agree we need to resist the temptation of taking Richardson. As much as a beast as he looks, let’s not forget what happened the last time we took a RB in the 1st round…
Plus, as I’ve said many times, the last DT we drafted was in the 5th round back in 2008…. We’re way over due to address our D-Line…
He did fit that ball in some tight spots! We will have to see how that go’s. Still on a high from the game. And while wearing all my Broncos stuff there, I must say I was surprised to say That was a good game experience!
I would like to see us go DT, DT, CB, CB with our fist 4 picks…
I would say best DT or CB then swap next round.
Even with the emergence of Chris Harris and Sydquan coming back next year? … but I agree if the aint DT … the next spot I think we need help in is CB … either way … lets keep things defensive but preferably DT. We already flopped passing on some defensive tackles this year. TRB

SWEET TEBOW/ Denver Bronco Football***
I think we definitely need both positions filled. Hopefully Ty Warren can do some things for us up front. Personally I think I’d put the priority on CB between the two. Champs not going to be around forever and we need a first round talent to come in and learn as much as he can from him while he can. Chris Harris has looked great though – especially for a cfa. I didn’t even know his name until the last couple Miami series. Still couldn’t go wrong with Trent Richardson though.
Willis Magahee has been worth every penny!!! The best FA pick-up since the Champ Bailey trade!
BBR … Which was why I was a Patrick Peterson advocate but Von Miller has worked out very well especially in Dooms “absence” … I knew about Chris Harris only because I was shocked that they kept him on 53 and dropped my boy Darcel Mcbath (was a fan of his potential) … and actually … the way our Safeties have been getting banged up … rookies with concussions and Dawk with everything else (such a warrior) … Id still want us to get him back. Drop dontae rosario or quan cosby or something (Decker and Royal have done more in one return than he has in like 10 lol) … but good thing im not the coach … my personel decisions rarely pan out. TRB
Haha I know the feeling TRB. I guess now we know why Harris made the practice squad though. And now that you bring up Royal I think he should be back there fielding just about every return. We have a hard time finding ways to get him involved and that’s one area where he can make an impact. Then again this is still a young team and who knows what kind of chemistry can develop in the passing game.
Agreed True2broncos!
I like my crow with mustard and hot sauce. Great win Tebow looked much improved. Champ for president.
I was skeptical about decker but even he had the vision to return a kick to the house even tho he is not the fastest guy. My choice for returner would be either Royal or Vaughn but I guess they are often busy doing other things so I understand the need for Cosby … but either Decker and Royal are awesome or just the raiders special teams coverage unit blows lol. TRB
Some reflections on the game …
What a nice win … in my estimation the Raiders just went AWOL … 15 penalties for 130 yds??? … boy – I knew they’d give some penalties to lay a hurt on Tebow, but that was ridiculous … I think they went all out on D just to bang him, and when he was still standing after 3 quarters, they just gave up … maybe our OL finally started to jell??? … because that’s a helluva lot of rushing yds … 299 … WOW … Tebow had some wonderful runs … his passing still looked suspect, except for the great TD throws … he takes so much punishment – he’s really tough – but how long can he do it?? … why would we want him to?? … V Miller was a BEAST all day – incredible … and the D as a whole was very agressive, and it really paid off … Palmer put some passes where you would think it would be impossible to put them, but I knew he’d have a burp, and sure enough, he had 3 of them … hats off to our D – they deserve game balls … and how nice it is to see the GREAT BIG SMILE on Eddie Royal’s face … he’s worked very hard, and today it paid off … he sure blazed on that return … hope it goes as well vs KC next week …
I watched the game at the Casino, which was PACKED – and never heard a roar from the Raider fans … they seemed to see the outcome before I did … and what a joy – there were about equal Charger/Packer fans, and they were taking turns shouting each other down … the outcome couldn’t have been better … Broncos the only division team to win today … next week, SD/Oak and D/KC … now we’re only a game out of FIRST … either a crappy division, or else the Halloween moon is still in ascendence … I don’t expect a lot, frankly, but it is nice to dream …
A tale of two halfs… 7 points and a missed FG (Decker should be a pro bowler).
Defense of course stepped up until our O was able to find their rhythm…
2nd half…well! What an outing. 31 points. Willis M, Royal returns and More Willis M.
Great job. Great effort from Champ, Dawkins, Doom, Royal, Willis M and yes Tebow.
wow Willis. Loved it. Especially against F.T.R
A running effort like that- memories of TD and Derrick Loville or Tatum-N-Mike
Tim and Willis….great job.
Champ as well! Honolulu Island. Missed seeing his first pick..second was definitely a can-o-corn! Whatever it is it’s most certainly #50….wow again!
Tebow performed better. I won’t be too critical, he has a long way to go. That’s all I have to say about that.
Glad to stick it to Chokeland in their house.
Weird turn of events and we are 1 game back. Not saying we’re playoff bound…but there is a chance!
GO BRONCOS!!!
Oh, I tried to do a little research, but Eddie has 3 multi touchdown games in his career. The Broncos are 3-0 in those games.
Also, (I don’t have the exact numbers) but when Royal has a score we usually win!
Weimin, I just want Tebow and this team to keep improving as they go. With any luck an offseason and a great draft and we may be able to compete next year. If we win some games this season as Tebow and the team improve, gel and get chemistry … that would be great. The fact that we are still in the running for our Division while I don’t think we will get it or we deserve to get it, it will keep the team fighting because they are not out of it yet. They are very much in it … not just 2nd or 3rd … but a chance at first in the division … thats great motivation right there … but like I said, what I am most looking forward to is more progression and less regression.
Sndvl … do you know what the sweetest part about this victory was? That we beat them at thier own game … usually its them with 299 rushing yards on us … not the other way around … watching them get gashed was like music to my soul lol. TRB
TRB says “Music to my soul”!
Love it. Running, nay, galloping for 299 is what Denver Bronco football is all about
GO BRONCOS!!!
Decker for Pro-Bowl
Quality win for the Broncos as a WHOLE unit!!! Way to go Orange and Blue!!!!
IMO this was the best first half of Tebow’s career. It was still sloppy, but he showed tremendous improvement in the first half. And anyone who his bleeding mouth knows he was giving it his all.
I don’t know what was said in the locker room at the half, or what happened, but we came out in the second half playing lights out football. We punched em right in the mouth, and by the end of the game every single person on the raiders sideline looked like they didn’t even know what happened. Richard Seymour had a black eye as he walked off the field at the end of the game.
That was some beautiful, smash-mouth football in the second half. Slammed it down their throats.
Go Broncos!! Go Tebow!
I intentionally have not read through the game postings or other peoples comments (including coaches and QB’s) because I want to give my own impressions before I’m influenced by others. Therefore if I repeat what others have said I’m sorry.
I expected a defensive, low scoring game with a bunch of QB mistakes from both teams, and both QB’s surprised me.
Palmer was on target and totally in sinc with his receivers. Palmer did throw a few bad passes early but seemed to get it together for the rest of the game. Broncos get total credit for each of the picks as they were thrown bad, due to pressure.
Tebow is still a little late with his reads, but I think a full second faster this week, and McCoy took away much of the reading problem by hitting OAK in the mouth with the ground game. TT throws were a little better still, than against the Lions. Little Eddie had a great game but his dropped passes continue to drive me nuts. TT and DT are not on the same page. (I think DT may be reading Tebow’s bad press and he is not getting it together.) To date DT has not performed up to his hype in the area of fundamentals such as tempo, full-speed, finishing. I think he may want to get it together before he gets replaced. DT definitely has potential, somebody’s gotta light a fire under him. Decker is continuing to grow with Tebow and should be TT’s go-to guy.
McGahee needs to be a Bronco for a long time to come. Today was a break-out game for Willis and KC is already having to scheme to stop him.
I’m guessing that people are going to be all over Clady for his penalties and I expect that some are going to think that OAK gave the game away with penalties. Fact is: Raiders committed some dumb penalties. OTOH – many of the offensive holding penalties go to Mays, Wilhite, Doom, and Miller, as they got around their blockers play after play. OAK offense had to hold DEN defense or allow the sacks to pile up. By the way – the men in stripes let a lot of penalties go without being called. There is much to be encouraged about defensively. In the same vein, Clady was outmatched today and I figure it is because of the man that McCoy slid over to help Franklin. I figure each of the Clady penalties were sacks that didn’t happen. I’m not going to be too hard on Clady. The fact that Tebow was only sacked twice goes to picking up the pace on the reads and to better protection. Notice how much more time in the pocket Tebow had in the second half though he didn’t use it as much. That’s what coaches call adjustments.
I think the Denver Broncos continue to demonstrate that they are a young but talented team. They have only been with the current coaching staff for a little over three months, and after the pit DEN has come through, the fans need to give their support to their team. I’m looking forward to the process. There is bound to be some bumps in the road.
My man Eddie!!!
GO BRONCOS!!!
Lets go do the same thing to KC Go Broncos
Just a little stat here. Tebow is now 3-3 on a team that has been 4-16 w/o him starting since we drafted him. I don;t know if that means anything.
I don’t know why he gets so much slack. Fact is, we play better when he starts. At least since we drafted him.
TRB and daddybronc I have a lot of repect for you guys! you both support Tebow but arent part of the Tebownites. Tebow played pretty well today still had some accuracy problems first half but also stepped into a lot of throws and looked fairly good. But this game was won by the running game and put away by the defense and running game. Im not hopping back on any bandwagon here but I’m optimistic that Tebow can get it together Like I’ve always said I would love him to get it together here but I am skeptical. But respect to you to and Tebow made me eat a little snack by proving me wrong today lol. Fannin can be a beast so I dont want a RB in draft and we only need one DT the guys we have would make a great rotation with one stud added. We need Corners a guy to start opposite Champ… And in a few years hell move to fs so we will have a few options to replace him
“We knew exactly what they were going to do and we just didn’t stop it,” Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour said. “We knew exactly what was going to happen, and they ran exactly what we thought they were going to run and we didn’t get the job done. That’s the disappointing part.”
that’s called execution and/or domination.
Oh I almost forgot to point out that our offense looked similar to urban myeres offense today and it worked really effectively because the way both TT and WM sold it.
In response to a question about penalties, Hue Jackson says: “Right now we’re not a very smart football team.”
It should be pointed out that the two TT TD passes really set up the the blow out in that Raiders had to get their downfield coverages back in place. IE. The Raiders tried to do what MIA and DET did but they weren’t successful because DEN has improved in the passing game and in their timing.
by blowout I refer to a 31-7 second half.
I think the Broncos are heading into another situation that is very difficult to imagine what is going to happen. Which KC team will show up? Will it be the one that shut out Raiders and beats Chargers or the one that laid a rotten egg in Miami?
I think – that the match up with KC is between two very parallel teams, and I think that KC is very dangerous at home. (I think that the DET/KC 48-3 v. DET/DEN 45-10 indicate similar abilities with very few personnel differences in the games – both DEN and KC demonstrating they were completely outmatched against the Lions) (Playing SD close in both their win and their loss indicated that KC is closely matched with DEN)
I think KC is going home with something to prove and a bit of a chip on their collective shoulders. It is going to be a difficult place for a Bronco win next Sunday.
On the other hand the Broncos look to me to have the greater talent. I know stats don’t show it yet for those who only evaluate players based on statistics. The Broncos offensive line standing up to a dominant OAK defensive line (did you see the hole McG ran through!!!!) was huge. Same O / Same D /comparing today’s game to game one – the Broncos are making significant strides towards becoming the team all of us want them to be. This is HUGE!!!
Tebow doesn’t need to throw a football through a tire – he needs to run film to where he can see defensive formations, then stop – he has 1 second to tell Goose what he decides with his options. Run the film to see how well he read it. He now has 8 games on KC. He needs to go through every KC defensive formation, for every game, every single day this week.
I’m going with the Broncos in a 31-24 nail-biter.
WHAT a WIN – can’t tell you how sick I felt about the loosing streak and onesided losses to the Raiders – sweet to snap that streak in style.
great game broncos – keep running and winning TOP battle next week and we have a chance
Even though Tebow passing was better overall I like what they are doing with his mechanics. Looks like it did when he had that UF pro day. They said Tim couldn’t run in the NFL. lol We now know that was a lie.
Willis made me proud today well yesterday. He ran with damgerous intentions in the game. He was tryna break everything to the house. This was more than taking what the D gives you. The OL made it happen.
Eddie is back Healthy and it shows especially on that PR for a TD. We are getting healthy at key positions. I need to see more of DT as well 1 catch in win all be it is not enough. I have gave up on Moreno but not DT. He gotta show me something to make me believe we can take this Div.
great win.i am on the road so I had to just get updates on the score when not in traffic. I just read most of the blogs. as always, good stuff. I have to say, nothing is better than winning. maybe if I just stick with that and not start a blog battle and lose I can enjoy them again.
