Is Denver becoming Knoxville West?
With its fifth round selection, Denver picked former University of Tennessee defensive lineman Malik Jackson, making him the fourth Volunteer on the Broncos roster, the most out of any school. He joins punter Britton Colquitt, quarterback Peyton Manning and defensive end Robert Ayers.
“I feel like we’ve some good Tennessee guys, so hopefully they’ll be welcoming me with open arms and I’m pretty excited to play with those kinds of guys,” Jackson said.
Malik will look to contribute alongside Denver’s first pick, Derek Wolfe, as a rookie on the defensive line. Malik said the Broncos project him as a defensive end — where he played at USC before transferring to Tennessee — and he believes his long wingspan gives him an advantage on the edge.
“I feel that some of my strengths are my arm length — I have really good, lengthy arms and I feel that I can use them well,” Jackson said. “I’ve got good feet to come up off the edge. I’m pretty knowledgeable about pass rush moves. I pretty much feel that I’m an all-around good defensive end. There are some skills I know I need to work on so I’m ready to get up to Denver and have them check me out, see how I look, and see if they have something I can work on.”

I blame trying to type fast on this iPad…. No nap need, thx..
But seriously BT, you are always so negative. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, but man, why so much hate? You used to be overboard on positivity last year, until the guy who is being used in punt formations in NY was traded….
Jets really are going to ground and pound running the ball. Tebow and Ganaway IMO are going to be two dangerous runners for NYJ.
i wasn’t talking about os turtle man i was talking about the reason manning isn’t in indy but nvm lets move on
Wheres my candy, I want my candy NOW!!!!!!
Holding his hand is hardly the same as telling him why he checked to a screen to the strong side when he does so…
we’ll have a chance at burflict i’m sure cuz no one wants to take him. he’s too much of a wild card but as an udfa he’d be sure worth a shot. we’ve learned a couple of times (clarett, cox) not to risk problem players.
Like the good ole song from the Stones (You Can`t Always Get What You Want). Its so true!!!!
As a UDFA the risk is there but its not as big a deal IMO if we take it as a UDFA instead of a draft pick.
I really hope they pull the trigger on Burfict IF he is there as a UDFA.
My draft grade is a C maybe C+
We got 1 starter out of this draft, that’s it. I like the potential of some guys like Hillman, Bolden, and Blake.
It’s nice that we have our QB position set for the next who knows how many years.
Overall I am pretty disapointed. To the people who think we draft value over need, I hope this draft proves that opinion to be wrong. We reached for need when value was sitting in our laps
yep, instead of telling brock why he checked down he’s gonna go to the bench and turn his back to brock, and when brock says, “hey peyton, why did you check down on that play?” mannings response will be “i dont help nor mentor backup qbs, shut up”
so nfl.com has the colts draft as the only A grade and like 20 teams havea b grade and the broncos have a c they are clueless but they pegged the broncos
Lol LBF.
I gotta say if that were true and PM was like that then Manning wouldnt be as well liked as he is…..
I’m just a realist OT… and the reality is that our moves, to me, are not taking us toward a superbowl anytime in the near future…
they are simply moving toward changing Elway’s legacy in D-Town from the ‘Greatest QB of all time’ to ‘The guy that traded the guy that shall not be named’ Out of respect for the blog I won’t even say his name as I really am over him not being here
You guys all have your oppinions, I have mine… Fun stuff, but to insinuate that I have a ‘Problem’ LBF is not a good way to stay on my good side
Billy Winn finally FINALLY went….To the Browns…..Poor kid….
The Jets just had back to back good picks.. A RB and OL, two HUGE needs
Holding his hand might not have been the best comparison but its been said “if you don’t know, you better ask somebody”
poor winn will never be heard of again in the death trap that is cleveland
The last pick was probably the most frustrating. McNutt and Streeter on the board and we go undersized OLB?
I love the Broncos… I love Football for many many reasons.
the controlled violence, the beauty of 11 people acting in perfect unison to accomplish a specific goal… I love the fact that at any given point a simple turnover can change your entire season…
I love to debate, and I love to teach… I don’t enjoy being negative, but when the situation is as it is, it simply is what it is
Skillz I know….poor kid….hopefully in 4 years or whenever he becomes a FA he gets a chance with a better team…
Emanuel Acho went to the browns as well to rot with Billy Winn
McNutt was drafted hours ago.
Trevathan led the SEC in tackles two years in a row. Thats not an easy thing to do. The kid is a beast. If/when he bulks up another 10 he will be a lot better in the NFL.
I know skillz two guys I liked…Man….Maybe Weeden and TRich will turn it around?
I guess the Browns D was in the top 5 for fewest points allowed.
Fair enough BT.. I don’t mean to attack you, all I’m saying is I come hear to talk Broncos b/c we’re all fans.. If wanted to hear hate, I’d go to nfl.com or some other site.. You’re entitled to your opinions, but a little positive thinking can go a long way.. Plus, we’re arguing over whether PM is a good mentor, which no one knows the answer, so it’s silly
I read somewhere that he has already put on six pounds since the combine so he is beefing up as we speak
strand, McNutt was drafted 6 spots after the Broncos got Trevathan…
*here
Strand- my point was Denver took a OLB with our 6th round pick when Streeter and McNutt were available. I wasn’t saying he is still available
Based on what I’ve read and overall feeling, I am not at all impressed with Denver’s picks. Maybe I’m wrong, but wouldn’t Martin have been a good bit better than Hillman? I get the feeling that dropping out of the 1st round was all about money, and with picking Derek who?, were thinking they’re smarter than everyone else making picks.
Oh, I see. Sorry HOF, I misunderstood. ooops!!
a problem with the broncos. or their actions anyway. not a problem problem. i guess that explains it.
Trevathan will be a special teams player his whole career. Production is great except he played on a bad defense… someone has to make the tackle lol
I guess the Broncos have faith in their own WR`s
Im surprised to learn that Browns D for a good group of categories ranked in the top 10 some even top 5.
That’s probably a little harsh. I’m just bitter we didn’t get guys I wanted lol Minnfield, McNutt, Streeter any of those 3 would have been awesome in the 6th round
Oh and no worries Strand
4HOF I disagree but we will see. I really think he can be a starter in a year or 2 but he has to bulk up a bit.
Yea I’m not real impressed with Stokely or Willis. Dthomas, Deck, and Caldwell are a solid first 3 but the depth behind them is weak
I forgot all about Minnefield. He`s also a PR.
He looks more like a Safety than a linebacker. He needs to bulk up ALOT
OT… I don’t ever really feel attacked… but I do feel an obligation to explain
I agree that the basis of the last discussion was fruitless it was still a worthwhile engagement as it gave a good a venue to show some fact about Peyton
I have some doubts about the draft as well, but I’m trying to look at the bright side. One draft does not define a team, and we did just have a very good offseason as far as FA’s go. We can’t ask for everything all the time
I was a little P’od when Denver didnt get or have a chance at Wylie and Coale. Both small slot guys who remind me of Welker.
Theres still some small guys out there for the slot I wouldnt mind getting if they are there as UDFAs.
i say we puty wolfe back there to return punts
don’t say he can’t till well he can’t right guys !
I like the Stokely signing, he knows what Peyton is thinking, even before the snap.
4HOF not really. LBs in the 4-3 are 240-260. Hes really not that undersized. 233 at the combine.
And Fox is all about speed at LB, I`m not concerned.
There went Audie Cole. ANother LB I liked.
I thought Porter, Dresseen, Tamme, Caldwell, Adams, Stokely, and Manning was a pretty good. Of course it all rest on the QB staying healthy, but when doesn’t it?
We have no more picks. LOL
