With San Diego’s 38-26 victory over Oakland, the Broncos are the AFC West Champions for the 2011 season. Denver ended the season in a three-way tie atop the division with Oakland and San Diego at 8-8, but Denver earns the playoff berth via the tiebreaker against common opponents.

The Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers next weekend at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Gametime is to be announced, but check back to DenverBroncos.com for more coverage of the team’s first playoff berth since 2005.

It wasn’t pretty but we have a chance at THE BIG SHOW!!!! Getting in is half the battle we are one of 6. The team we play first snuck in and won it all in 2005. We can do this just have to show up give it all we can for 60 minutes every game. GO TEBOW, COACH FOX and THE REST OF THE TEAM!!!! WOOHOO….

  2. Louisianabroncofan says:

    2 words again:

    MATT FLYNN

  3. FLBroncoGator says:

Mandiego, who would’ve thought 8/8 right? It’s not that’s equivalent to Fox’s entire 22 year career or anything. We’ve seen the very best Fox has to offer. Mediocre at BEST and…what was he…2/14 when we hired him. Only guy with a worse record than ours when he left Carolina; after 2 or 3 winning seasons in 9 years there. Statistics absolutely do not lie. Just like the fact that to have a better passing game, you have to throw more and drop less.

  4. gdingel says:

I agree with Louisanabroncofan with need QB comp. Matt Flynn is a good idea and we will still have all our draft picks.

  5. killerkod says:

funny how the tebow maniacs blame the playcalling and the receivers…..

Yeah, the playcalling was brutal, but even the TT maniacs have to agree that good ole Tim made some horrible decisions and missed a ton of reads as well. Defenses now know that if you keep him in the pocket he will FAIL. It’s pretty obvious and I’m sure the steelers D is chomping at the bit already.

  6. MANDIEGO says:

If I was in Vegas I would put $1,000 on denver next week. I bet you’ll get 14-20 points. If denver covers the odds will make you a rich rich man. Hahahah

  7. since1972 says:

That was just butt ugly football from our passing game. Tebow on multiple occasions had more than enough time to find receivers but couldn’t find them and several times they couldn’t get open. Either way it was just horrible. The running game was adequate the defense got better as the game went on But the passing game is nonexistent. Blame whoever you want coaches, QB,receivers don’t matter as they are all culpable and we will be totally embarrassed by Pittsburgh in the playoffs if drastic changes aren’t made now.

  8. MANDIEGO says:

Ya not a fan of mister conservative coach fox. Average with little to no vision and afraid to take a chance.

How many years to you give him?

  9. FLBroncoGator says:

killerkod, I’ll admit all day long that Tim played like crap but it’s because of their coaching him to do. They’re trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Tebow wasn’t broke. They need to stop trying to fix him and adjust they’re use of him. He’ll make plays all day long if they give him the opportunity. He’s only doing exactly what they tell him to because EVERYBODY keeps talking about how he needs to or he’ll never be any good.

  10. killerkod says:

    I love my broncos……..so don’t be giving me flack….

but I’m not afraid to make this statement…..

Tim Tebow is a horrible QB.

  11. WieminCA says:

Yeah – well – then the D and ST better score some points, because this offense will be LUCKY to get more than the 3 we got today, which were nothing but a GIFT …

  12. MANDIEGO says:

Not so sure tebow is who is going to lead this team to dominance. He just can’t throw he ball

  13. Louisianabroncofan says:

Throwing is a good idea but the broncos do not have a qb that can throw. Period. Hasn’t done one dang thing in his NFL career to show he can be even a below average qb and ppl are actually blaming the coaches for not letting him throw? Throw what? The football? NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!

  14. FLBroncoGator says:

I wouldn’t give Fox next year. Then again, I’d have never hired the loser in the first place.

  15. WieminCA says:

On what plays there was a pass called, Tebow was waiting for his receiver to cut and THEN get open, and THEN he threw the pass … of course, by the time the ball got there, the receiver WASN’T open, and thus we failed miserably …

  16. WieminCA says:

I’m thinking Green Bay must have the most tremendous receivers in the league – they bring in a reserve QB who lights it up – there’s got to be a reason …

  17. FLBroncoGator says:

Louisiana, that’s the dumbest comment I’ve read all night. Why don’t you go look up how many yards Tebow threw for in highschool and college and what his longest TD pass was of his NFL career. He can throw fine when they’re not screwing with his mechanics and he actually has someone to throw to.

  18. Louisianabroncofan says:

Gator if the coaches are telling him to play like that then yep, fire them all. Right now. Not tomorrow. Now.

  19. MANDIEGO says:

What’s annoying is if we had a defense that played this well three or four years ago with our offense we would have been a serious contender. If we just had some type of offense.

  20. Louisianabroncofan says:

No gator heres the dumbest statement you’ve ever heard: “They need to stop trying to fix him and adjust they’re use of him. He’ll make plays all day long if they give him the opportunity. He’s only doing exactly what they tell him to because EVERYBODY keeps talking about how he needs to or he’ll never be any good.”.
Oh wait you know that already cuz YOU SAID IT

  21. Louisianabroncofan says:

And stop talking about his college this, high school that. I got it, he was a legendary player in high school & college. I do agree with that. But in the NFL he is not good at all. I don’t want the broncos to ‘run the option’ or ‘play to his strengths’ (wait, what strengths) because the broncos will not ever be any good doing that. EVER

  22. alex4serg says:

Tebow get’s no passes on this game. He couldn’t see wide open receivers, and he was making a lot of bad decisions.

It certainly doesn’t help that this is his third game in a row with a fumble. Needs to start holding that ball.

  23. Crazyhorserider says:

The game turned on the officials missing a blatant face guard foul on Tebow which may well have led to a touchdown. Where do they get these absolutely useless officials from? If they are not good enough to see that then they are not good enough to officiate again. Bad players lose their jobs and so should bad officials.

  24. Crush Arizona says:

Tim can throw the ball, you can all come out and say what you will and now we lost our right guard line captian in Cris Kuper man this game killed us, Tim can not do good if our line can not pick up the Blitz and we should be owning Ds going to our left but where’s Clady, and Zane no it is not our QB its an offense that can’t the Rush of anyone lately and unless you got a big LG on the practice squad with four great games still in him were definitely Going to need a MIRACLE, TEBOW,TEBOW,TEBOW!!!

  25. alex4serg says:

Seems to me like Tebow is finally cracking under the pressure. Needs to calm down and keep his eyes down field. It doesn’t matter who your receiver is, or what the play calling is like. If you can’t see the open receiver, you have no chance.

I am not even talking about anticipating a receiver getting open. I am talking about running down field without a single receiver within 5 yards.

Gotta be able to see that.

  26. MILE HIGH #7 says:

Tim Tebow doesnt have what it takes, point blank. Even with Elways help in the off season they would need all the qb greats to teach this kid about being a QB in this league, and even that wouldnt help.He cant even check it down to the rb its just hard to see or understand.Ive never heard any broncos fans calling for Brady quinns name untill today.. WOW

  27. olap2009 says:

2012 Draft QB,QB,QB,QB,QB,QB,QB,QB,QB,Please Mr.Elway get a QB if not the draft then any other QB in the NFL but Tebow Please

  28. Crazyhorserider says:

The commentators here in the UK were actually pressing the point that the Broncos need a more balanced offence with more passing plays. Without more passing the QB and receivers cannot find a rhythm hence the last 3 losses. It is difficult to suddenly find a passing rhythm when you are behind in the last quarter.

  29. alex4serg says:

What a waste of 216 good rushing yards.

  30. since1972 says:

By the way what a lame way to make the playoffs.Down right embarrassing to me, If the team were to admit it they probably are too.

  31. Louisianabroncofan says:

I am probably sounding a little aggravated but thats because I am. No offense to anyone but this cannot be ignored. We can’t sit around, be an average team, wait & hope tebow becomes an elite NFL passer because it won’t happen. No way. Ever. He had his day as a great college player but he will never bring the broncos any consistent great qb play. The idea that the whole coaching staff has to be fired but we should keep tebow is ludicrous. It’s not the coaches guys it’s tebow. In my opinion, of course.

  32. TheHorseWhisperer7 says:

Well the one good thing about today was oakland didnt win the afc west.

What was so disheartening about this game was that denvers defense played great, running game was good, oline was good, and special teams was good.
Literally every phase of our team was good today except for the passing offense.
I think its a combination of bad play calling, receivers not making plays, and the obvious tebow.
For everybody saying that tebows not good and never will be, i do understand that hes playing like garbage the last 2 weeks. But im going to give tebow a much needed offseason before i make my opinion on him. If elway and fox think that he has a CHANCE of being our long term
quarterback, which they do, then so do i.

PITTSBURGH IS IN MAJOR TROUBLE NEXT WEEK…

  33. TheHorseWhisperer7 says:

Arizona, even after Kuper left the game Tebow still have PLENTY of time in the pocket. I remember 1 play that Tebow stood in the pocket for at least 10 seconds.

  34. mainBroncos60 says:

This will get me stomped, I know, but I don’t care.

Maybe Tebow will never be an elite NFL passer; but maybe he will. I just think right now he isn’t allowed to even try. IMO, the playcalling flat out sucks. If TT has lost his fire — as someone elsewhere suggested — then who would wonder why with this playcalling. I believe what he’s showing is frustration.

I’m beginning to believe in the conspiracy theory after all. Elway doesn’t want TT, and who knows what Fox wants. I’m sure those six wins were a total shock to EFX, and in their minds messed everything up (going for Luck, etc.). They have dumbed down the offense to the point that there is nothing to get excited about or believe in.

‘Sorry if this riles some of you off. But it’s how I feel. And I’m pissed!

  35. G_moneycricket says:

We need Brian Dawkins back desperately. Please come back for season 17 sir.

  36. mikew007 says:

    Nice guy….bad QB.

  37. G_moneycricket says:

Playoff game vs Pitt scheduled for sunday 4:30 late game.

  38. bfree2bronc says:

    Looks like we win…

  39. MILE HIGH #7 says:

olap 2009, couldnt put it in beter words myself, thats all i care about is a qb qb qb, the way tebow looks is the only reason why elway says what he said on our early success with tebow. Cause it wasnt him winning the games even with the late drives our defense and special teams mad it happen

  40. jsizzla says:

Say what you will but with Tebow at QB we are in the playoffs and with Orton at qb we ony missed the playoffs even after we went 6-0. So I’ll take a guy who was given a 1-4 team and has gone 7-4 with a few picks and fumbles but gotten us into the show over a guy who throws perfect spirals but can’t take his team or his neck beard to a playoff game. By the way, they made a big deal about Orton not getting a fair shake from Denver but there’s never any mention about Chicago dropping him like a hat!

  41. G_moneycricket says:

I would have dropped Orton and some picks for Cutler too.

  42. killerkod says:

what’s sad is that our D played a solid game and gave TT every opportunity possible to put some points on the board……and what did he do?

    NUTHIN!

  43. jsizzla says:

Really Cutler, a ton of talent but never there when you need him. He’s just a newer version of Jeff George, scary the similarities. Jay’s never won a big game not even in Denver. His biggest win was against the worst playoff team in history last year’s seahawks. If the broncos win next week Tebow already has bigger wins than Cutler in my book. Trust me, if Tebows in your platoon he’s jumping on the grenade Jay’s runnin’ the other way! GO Broncos!!!

  44. FLBroncoGator says:

Truth be told, had Willis not dropped a perfectly thrown pass, that he had both hands on, we had a chance to win this game. Other than that, Fox chose to take easy points off the board (again), then he punts on 4th down with under 2:00 to go because he has no balls. Some HORRIBLE officiating on top of that. More stupid penalties by Clady…Tebow was FAR from the reason that we lost today though I’ll agree, he threw a few bad passes (one at Decker’s feet — Decker wasn’t looking for the ball anyway). We have NO receivers, NO game plan, NO discipline, and NO head coach that has EVER had back to back winning seasons and is a 500 coach at BEST. Our play calling is stale, we never take advantage of our high altitude training by using the no huddle offense, injuries are killing us because we’re under conditioned. Talk all the crap you want about Tebow’s abilities but Orton throws the ball a LOT better and still didn’t do a thing for us and never scored a point today either. Anybody who says they like Fox and he’s a good coach is clearly wearing blinders. Then again, even when we were 1-4, a LOT of idiots for still calling to keep starting Orton.
