Broncos Brace for Quick Turnaround

November 14th, 2011 - 4:57pm by Max Henson

The Broncos had no time to waste.

After defeating the Chiefs in Kansas City, Head Coach John Fox boarded the plane and immediately got to work on preparation for Thursday night’s game against the Jets.

“I watched our game flying back on the plane, got that out of the way,” Fox said earlier today. “When I got home I watched the Jets play New England, probably for the second half, and watched it in its entirety today.”

Quarterback Tim Tebow was in a New York state of mind before the plane back to Denver even took off.

“I am going to start watching Jets film in a few minutes when we get on the bus and try to prepare and get ready,” Tebow said after the game.

During a normal week, Mondays usually serve as a day to study the most recent game film. But with the Jets coming to town Thursday, Fox and his staff analyzed the Kansas City film Sunday night and quickly turned the team’s attention to the Jets.

According to Fox, the team will review the Chiefs film following Thursday’s game. For now, the Broncos are focused entirely on Week 11.

“We’re right into the New York Jets,” Fox said.

The quick turnaround presents a challenge for both teams as they install their respective game plans. Focus and attention to detail will be particularly important with less time to prepare.

“They’ll have the same issues — same as us,” Fox said. “It’s really not what you know, but it’s what can you get across to your players in a short period of time. That will be the week’s work.”

Denver played on Monday night to open the season, but a Thursday night game changes the week’s schedule more drastically.

It will be rookie linebacker Von Miller’s first experience with a short week and he understands extra hours of study will be required to meet expectations on the field Thursday.

“It just comes with being a pro. You just have to stay on top of things,” Miller said today. “We definitely have to watch a lot of film this week and just prepare as hard as we can.”

Fox and his staff will be working overtime to ensure the players are put in the best position to earn their fifth win of the season.

“We’ll be here late tonight, I’m sure,” Fox said.

Where is Beast? Lol wanted to catch him. DaddyBronc and sndvl good to see you on! Sad for me losing Moreno for the Year, I really like Clinton Portis we should at least try him out. Cut Rafeal Bush and Quan Cosby please… We can give McCarthy a look and possibly… Aqib Talib he may be cut!!!

Anyways everyone knows I’m critical of Tebow so here is my piece… It is apparent the Coaching Staff doesnt trust him throwing and I expecet to see only a few more passes next week unless we fall behind. That said every pass he threw except for 2 sunday were very nicely thrown and catchable… His short out to Rosario was horrendus and his 1st bomb to Decker wasn’t and easy catch to make but otherwise he was very accurate of course all he threw was 5 deep balls one RB out one TE out and one shovel pass lol but either way I’ll give him credit. Now the option they ran should not be used again it can only be used with Moreno since he is quicker and faster but it wouldnt work well with Ball or anyone else. Read option is still good but how long will it work is the question… Anyways Dfense looked great!!! Look for them to get takeaway happy against Sanchez!

Oh and Matt Leinert has a chance to resurect his Career with Houston now!

  2. The570Bronco says:

Johnson time im really excited about this guy. he could be a great replacement for moreno (glass man). really would love to see this guy get a few carries and see what hes got.

  3. The570Bronco says:

And moreno is really made of glass this guy is alllllllways hurt its time to cut our losses with this mcdy screw up and find a replacement with the guys we have now or start looking to the draft. the guy outta oregon’s lamichael james looks very good, as long as he can keep his act together and stay outta trouble.

  4. sndvl says:

Portis? Lol. Doesn’t Fox have history with Tiki Barber…lmao
    Someone else mentioned Buck…
I got an idea! He’s already on the squad. Plays fullback. Next man up. Spencer?! (that I’m serious about)

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

  5. Broncos LAX says:

I just love Portis lol thats all and well Larsen does dserve it IDK why we signed Johnson (FB) and still have him

  6. alexanserg says:

Tatum Bell!!! Let;s hire him from the cell phone kiosk again.

  7. daddybronc says:

I think that bell – spencer – jj- and tebow are enough to look at for right now, as long as mcg is still able to lead the rush.

  8. daddybronc says:

was wondering if KC might want to give Orton a try. LOL Maybe a back from KC could be traded straight up-

  9. alexanserg says:

Can’t wait to see if JJ gets a shot this thursday, and, if so, what he does with it.

    Little peak ahead maybe:

    College highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnXmhMBnAQU

NFL highlights (I think this is the same guy, not sure though): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqOU9d8sR0M

Looks like a no nonsense, north-south runner, hits the hole hard, fights for extra yardage, has good top speed/acceleration, can make some excellent cuts, has good vision and elusiveness.

    Can’t wait.

    Go broncos!!!

By the way, start that second link at 0:20

Hello everybody, been an enjoyable past couple of days, as it always seems to be after a win. Now we are on to Thursday’s game at the Jets. I know the broncos can win the game, and put them Jets on a JET home. Nothing would make me happier, however I have this bad feeling that Jets will fare better because they will be thinking they have more to prove. Come on Broncos put the pedal to the metal and don’t let up. I started in this blog hallway through the season and as I have told Baylinor felt inappropriate posting predictions midway through. So I will simply say the broncos win by six points. Let’s go boys and P.S hurry up already Thursday will you lol. 4Eva out!

Good morning students, take your seats and pull out your note books, LOL, jk.

  13. Bronco_Turtle says:

    Morning Bronco Nation…

FTJ!!! is all I have to say today!!!

    ;o)

  14. baylinorcrush says:

Yesterday I wrote my piece with Elway/Fox and Tebow all having different agendas and today Woody is not shying away with this uncomfortable handling of Tebow by both Elway and Fox:

Tebow just became the only quarterback in Broncos history to beat the Raiders and the Chiefs on the road in back-to- back games.

Tebow has won four of the seven overall games he has started. His predecessor, Kyle Orton, won four games in the last 18 he started.

The quandary is Tebow has won one more game in 2011 as a starter than the three quarterbacks coach John Fox started for the Panthers last year. And Tebow has one more victory this year than the Panthers’ current starter, who was the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. Tebow has three more victories in 2011 than the successor to John Elway had in his first four starts in 1999.

Tebow gets no respect from opponents and a majority of media across the country. The locals are pulling hammies jumping on and off the bandwagon.

But, more important, he gets almost no love from his head coach or the executive vice president of the Broncos.

Fox refers to the team’s quarterback as Tebow “or whoever,” which certainly is an underwhelming vote of confidence. What if I wrote that next season the Broncos will be improved under Fox “or who- ever is the coach.”

Elway, who must be reminded that he never beat the Raiders and the Chiefs in back-to- back games, anywhere, any time, continues to be polite, but not gushing with praise about Tebow.

Anyway, it’s a much longer article than just that and it is very compelling as to both the tangibles and intangibles that Tebow provides to the team, a must read for everyone:

    Mornin Bay…………..

How’s the predictions looking so far? You have one in mind yet?

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Remember, short week, tomorrow night midnight is already the deadline for your score predictions!

  17. baylinorcrush says:

    17 Broncos win

    Only 2 Jets win

And yes I have one in my back pocket already.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

And Klis is now talking new ramifications for the 2012 draft since Tebow keeps doing his thing, winning football games:

If the Broncos win the division, they will be picking no earlier than No. 21 as a playoff team. At that spot, the two quarterbacks who might be available, and who would make sense for the Broncos, are either Baylor’s Robert Griffin III or Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden.

Griffin because he’s the best athlete in this draft class and he’d fit well with Tebow in the Broncos’ option offense. Griffin is also a more polished passer than Tebow.

Weeden makes sense because he’s the second-best pure college passer to Andrew Luck. The reason why Weeden has not been considered a top 3 or 4 prospect is because he’s 28 years old, 29 next October. That means it’s unlikely he will become a 10-year franchise quarterback.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

And Lloyd is as happy as a cucumber for having left the Tebow led Broncos:

Lloyd is nine catches away, by the way, from improving the Broncos’ draft pick from a sixth rounder to a fifth. He has 21 catches in his four games with the Rams.

  20. baylinorcrush says:

Fox about the game plan at KC:

“We were looking for balance. We might have gone a little over the other edge.”

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. killerkod says:

I honestly think if they had kept lloyd here, he would’ve become a cancer in the lockeroom. He was unhappy and I have no doubt he would’ve shown it in his play.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

And I had no clue Fox could use big words:

“The upside with Jeremiah is he’s been with us,” Fox said. “He knows the nomenclature.”

    LOL!

  23. brian_schneider says:

That’s a very well written article. If it were any QB other than Tebow we wouldn’t be having all this-n-that about us. We’re in a league where; you’re measured in wins and losses, where running the ball seems like an afterthought, the QB needs to be able to outscore your opponent..unless you’re the Denver Broncos with Tebow, then running the ball and playing good defense and only passing 8 times is unconventional. What about the wins and losses..doesn’t matter because its Tim Tebow..what about our running game that we haven’t seen in over two seasons..doesn’t matter because its Tim Tebow..what about our defense that is playing much better..doesn’t matter because its Tim Tebow. I’ve seen improvement from Tebow each week, sure he’s still makes mistakes but he’s getting better. Just as he gets better, everyone has to bring him back down..including our HC and VP of football operations. What I want to know is why is Tebow’s status as the starter week to week when Orton may have performed better but didn’t get us the wins. He was still the named starter not week to week. Tebow’s raw and gets us wins and yet his status as the starter is week to week. I think that is BS. I’m sorry but Fox and Elway haven’t done anything except play mind games with the fans, they say one thing but their actions say another. If you don’t want to go with Tebow fine just frickin say so and get it over with. If you’re going to let us watch Tebow and let him win and then just brush him off like a mosquito and go out and try and get Luck then fine, should’ve stuck with Orton. I love Elway and he was by far the greatest QB for us but just like Tebow he’s got a lot to learn about the role he’s in.

  24. strandoftds says:

I`ve always preferred JJ over Moreno. I`m glad we finally sisned him to the active roster.

  25. strandoftds says:

    signed

  26. baylinorcrush says:

    Injury update:

Offensive tackle Ryan Clady and “tackle-eligible” Chris Clark are nursing knee injuries. There is hope that nickel linebacker Wesley Woodyard (knee) can play Thursday night against the New York Jets despite missing the Kansas City game. Safety Brian Dawkins has been bothered by an ankle injury.

And of course we don’t have to talk about Moreno any longer for this season since he has been placed on IR with a torn ACL.

  27. brian_schneider says:

Davis tore his ACL and MCL and that pretty much ended his career. I wonder if Moreno will be able to come back at all?

  28. baylinorcrush says:

    Well said WOS Brian, LOL.

  29. baylinorcrush says:

Who cares other than TRB? LOL.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

The good thing about playing the Jets at Mile High instead of a team like Pittsburgh?

The Jets returned 300 tickets to the Broncos.

  31. strandoftds says:

    Three cheers for JJ, Hurrah!!

  32. baylinorcrush says:

Somebody flying totally under the fans’ radar:

The Broncos are averaging 229 yards rushing over their last four games, three of which are victories.

A key contributor to that performance has been backup offensive tackle Chris Clark.

Clark was a two-year member of the Vikings’ practice squad. The Broncos signed him off waivers in September 2010. He played in eight games for Denver last season, mostly on special teams and occasionally as an extra blocker in the running game.

This year, with first-year Broncos coach John Fox emphasizing a power attack, Clark is getting a lot of playing time. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder from Southern Mississippi lined up as a blocking tight end for 22 snaps Sunday at Kansas City, a 17-10 victory for the Broncos.

“We have some things where we mix it up,” Denver guard Chris Kuper said. “Chris is one of those things we can do. He’s a good player, he does well on the edge and that just adds another dimension to the run game.”

  33. Bronco_Turtle says:

I rewatched the Pats/Jets game and their pass defense looks really REALLY weak… If the Jets help D. Ferg on the edge with Doom, Von has 1 on 1 around the edge or up the gut…

Von has Literally injured the quarterback 3 weeks in a row, even if he hurt Palmer late and Stafford finished the game… Von will have at least one sack of The Sanchize and I really expect him to be getting home all game long!!! :o )

Also, against Kansas City we put pressure on the Quarterback consistenly with 4 rushers… This means great things for our Defense because we have not been able to do this since we had Neil Smith and Alfred Williams on the Ends and Taanuvasa and Price in the middle…

I’m still smiling!!! Ten days now in a row… LOL!!!

    ALL HAIL VON TEBOW!!!

  34. Bronco_Turtle says:

    Pass Protection* not Defense… sorry

  35. baylinorcrush says:

The pass D looks real weak with Revis? A lot about all that was due purely to clinical surgeon Brady, Tebow is about as far away from that as QB come, don’t think he will be able to exploit that, just my opinion.

  36. Bronco_Turtle says:

Bay… I miss typed that… did you not the correction… I was talking about the Pass Protection… and it is very Weak…

  37. killerkod says:

I think the key to passing game, if we actually see one this week, will be short passes in the slot and to our TE’s. If Tebow throws inaccurate passes deep down the field I believe his INT’s will take a major jump.

Brady, like Rodgers, can put the ball in precise spots for their receivers where TT just kinda throws it in the general vicinity and sees what happens. LOL

  38. baylinorcrush says:

Gotcha, agreed we should be able to sack Sanchez all night long.

  39. seweatherman1 says:

I have a feeling that our D is going to have a HUGE game this week. They are going to make Sanchez wish he never came to Mile High Stadium.

Our offense was lights out this past Sunday against KC, and I look for them to continue the trend this week at home.

I hope the home croud gets into this game early and stays in it. That will make our guys want to get out there and fight harder for the big win.

WOW three in a row! Who’d thunk it?

    Broncos 24
    Jets 10

  40. baylinorcrush says:

Hey weatherman, here in Austin we are just about to be rained on and pretty decent rain I think, looking out the window right now waiting for the miracle, LOL.

  41. baylinorcrush says:

The biggest factor about Thurday’s game to me is we are as pumped as the Jets are deflated.

  42. seweatherman1 says:

That sounds great bay. May you guys get 10 inches of good slow soaking rain. God knows you need it. TX has been declared one of the worst droughts in history this year.

  43. killerkod says:

the Jets, like the Cowboys, are totally over-rated.

  44. seweatherman1 says:

Actually, I think we are more pumped now than we have ever been this year. Winning 2 in a row has that affect. imagine how they will be with a streak of 3 under their belts.

  45. seweatherman1 says:

We must not forget, the Jets are the “dream team”…their words, not mine.

Remember Coach running his alligator mouth before the season started.

  46. baylinorcrush says:

    Rice blog up.

  47. baylinorcrush says:

That sounds too much like Gator fans, haha.

  48. ddk002 says:

lets crank up the heat another notch there D, force a few fumbles and some sanchez turnovers. 27-10 broncos.

  49. Hunter7 says:

Lets go Broncos… Unconventional or not, it’s a win!!! Another W to keep the momentum going…Bring it back to Denver Boys…kick some Jets ASS!!!

    Jets-20 Broncos-23!!!
