The Official Broncos Blog Scoring Contest will continue into the playoffs due to popular demand, but here’s a look at the standings entering the final week of the regular season.
Things are tightening up near the top, though The Dane still holds the overall lead in the contest.
In Week 16, the Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-12. There were a lot of great predictions — 27 bloggers were within single digits of the actual score. But only five are taking home points for the week.
Wolfedom and alex4serg tied for first place as both were only one point away from the actual score with predictions of 34-13 and 35-12, respectively. In second were Andyboy31 and tnalen66, who were both two points off from the real score by guessing 34-14 and 33-13, respectively. Jake rounds it out in third with his prediction of 35-10.
UPDATE: My apologies to killerkod, who predicted 35-13 and therefore also receives second-place points since he was only two points off the actual score. He’s now in 11th place with 12 points on the season.
Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s regular-season finale versus Kansas City here. They’ll be accepted all the way up to the scheduled 2:25 p.m. MST kickoff.
Taking last week’s points into account, below are the top 10 bloggers in the standings entering Week 17:

Next is killerkod with 12 points, three bloggers tied with 10 points then six bloggers tied with eight points scored so far this season. There are 54 bloggers that have made the overall standings, with scores ranging from The Dane’s 31 to 12 bloggers with three points on the season.

No way does anybody beta out The Dane! Wow! LOL
My prediction is 42-9 Broncos.
High fives to The Dane! It was your year!!! U da man!!!
Lou – sorry I missed you when you were on this morning. I would have liked straightening you out on your Tebow evaluation. Not to worry…if he ever gets a chance again…I’ll be here to rub it in…make certain you enjoy your, “crow”! LOL
The Chiefs are strong against the pass. Running the ball takes more time off the clock. So I don’t think the score gets too high. Unless our defense goes buck wild with FF and INTs. Otherwise, we win but it is at most likely by 10-14 pts.
I agree RH! I am expecting some defensive TD’s though. I also expect Holiday to have a breakout game if he plays. He’s scared to death right now that everyone has forgotten his runbacks and can only remember his fumbles.
Sitting in the living room with the laptop…drinking coffee from my new Broncos mug that one of the kids bought me from the “thrift” store – used!!! LOL ….and taking fire from ‘nerf’ bullets!!! The life of ‘Daddy’ is good!!! LOL

Holliday didn’t practice today, DB, so you might be out of luck!!
True about KC’s passing d and I know my prediction is outrageous…. But after sitting through the KC game last year going 7-3 and losing… I really hope we kick their butts!!!
I think that the coaching staff can beef Holiday up and get him strong enough to hang onto the ball..in the off-season…if he lasts that long. Oh well!
Cat…did you mean…run up the score on them??? LOL
I’m sorry Cat…that last post was unduly confrontational…and not funny the way I intended it. I was just teasing for fun.
Daddy, I fear that Holidays issue is his size but I am not referring to musculature. I like the guy and he is electric so this isn’t meant as a criticism of him.
At 5’5″, my guess is he has small hands. This makes catching the ball a little more difficult and he has less surface area to cover the ball with when he is in traffic. Teaching him to hold it high and tight with his fingers splitting the tip will help but if he has small hands to go with his small stature, it may always be an issue.
The blog contest goes through the playoffs guys and gals
We need the contest to start over so that we have a chance against the DANE!!!
The Dane is kicking some butt!
Hey db i guess if i had to eat crow i would do it but i’m DEFINATELY not worried. If he was good or even average then he would play. no way a guy of his stature (the ‘savior’ of a team) would be left on the sideline if they thought he would come in and give the team a spark and a half chance to start winning out to finish the season. heck to come in the last 6 games even when the team is not in contention and blow the doors off of the place would save everyones job and the jets some embarrassment. you cant tell me they wouldnt play him to save their job and reputations if there was even a sliver of hope he would play well. they would. heck the raiders are playing terell pryor to see what he can do for them. they wont play him because they see his abilities daily and dont want that on an already embarrassed team. of course trb did get me when he said all of this is pure opinion because he hasnt actually played but i would bet alot on me being right. his preseason was pretty telling too…
as far as holliday i really like the guy but you cannot fumble in this league and keep your job. he has to get that fixed or just like houston, we will release him. and we probably should. maybe they can work with him and beef him up and get him to carry differently but RH you have a point with his size being a huge and deep issue.
RH – I’m thinking Darren Sproles – basically cut by SD because of fumbles in critical situations – 13 in five years – who have transformed their game going 1 fumble in 2 years with NO. Same issues – small hands – takes off before he’s secured the ball – great eyes – can’t be caught – but little!!!
NO – has that philosophy that they get the best talent they can and develop them into the the best…(at least under S. Payton)
Hey Lou – good to see you!!!
Don’t you find it odd that that all QB’s under Ryan have failed…could be it isn’t a QB issue!!!
The only worry for me is that Tebow won’t really get his opportunity again…If he does…he will succeed.
well then i guess we will see then db. and good talking to ya again, been awhile!! maybe when he goes to jacksonville and they plan to start him you and I can start some wagers. and i’ll rack up on stuff….
I am pretty sure Holiday is near the top of the league in yardage per return though. I hope we keep him and see if an off season with our coaching staff helps him out.

Holliday’s problem today is the same as it was when he was at LSU. His mind is moving at the speed of his feet. He’s already thinking about running, cutting, etc and gets a little to free with the ball. Someone needs to sit him down and say…..
Look little big man you’re fast!! You’re road runner meep meep type of fast! However, you need to make sure to catch the ball, secure it, make your moves, KEEP THAT BALL SECURE Holliday, sprint, and score! You could be so dynamic but it’s hard for you to do that without the ball.
As far as score prediction….
Chiefs:13
Broncos: 29
Caramello…It’s too bad you don’t have his phone number.
Thank you RH – hadn’t considered Tebow in KC…I think that would be a bad place for him…but I’ll spend some time contemplating that…
Hahaha RH I wish I did! I know a guy who’s great friends with B. Stoke and is in Denver visiting with Brandon this week. I Facebooked him and told him to tell Brandon to have a talk with Holliday. He probably won’t remember but was worth a shot.
gotta let the ex go DB.
I hear you RH…but it’s not likely to happen. I love that kid!
