After rushing for a combined 199 yards against the Chiefs in Week 13, Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter have each received a weekly award.
For an NFL high fourth time this season, Moreno has been named Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week. The Georgia product rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos’ 44-13 victory at Arrowhead Stadium. He is the only rookie to win the award four times this season, as Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez won it during Week 1 through Week 3.
With 113 rushing yards on 12 carries against the Chiefs, Buckhalter has been named FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. The nine-year veteran is the first Bronco to win the award this season.
When asked how the two complement each other, Head Coach Josh McDaniels said each back has their own method to reach the edge of a defense.
“Buck’s maybe a little faster,” McDaniels said. “He’s got a great burst and is playing really well right now. Knowshon is a little bit of a slippery runner inside the tackles. A little bit more spin moves, those kind of moves.”
With those contrasting running styles in hand, McDaniels alluded to the biggest benefit the two provide — a fresh rotation that lasts for 60 minutes.
“Two definitely distinctively different running styles, and that’s a good thing when you can put those out there on the field and make the defense defend both,” McDaniels said.
INJURY UPDATE
The Broncos listed four players on Friday’s Week 14 Injury Report. A limited participant in Friday’s session, David Bruton (thigh) is questionable for Sunday’s game at Indianapolis. A trio of full participants on Friday — Josh Barrett (shoulder) , Brian Dawkins (ankle) and Kyle Orton (ankle) — are all listed as probable going into the matchup with the 12-0 Colts.
On the Colts side, there were three Friday changes. After missing practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, DE Robert Mathis (quad) was a full Friday participant and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
After not participating in Thursday’s session, Indianapolis WR Hank Baskett (personal reason) was a full participant on Friday and is probable to play on Sunday.
A limited participant in Thursday’s practice, Colts DT Daniel Muir (hamstring) was a full participant on Friday. He is questionable for Sunday’s game.
Here are some photos from the start of Friday’s practice.

Hey Bay. Good mornin’. The SD loss was a huge setback. How things could be so much easier today if we’d won. As you said though the only real “must” game is the one that will eliminate you. The game today is more of a “contender or pretender” game. Even if we lose and SD wins we will still be a wild card. A bad loss(totally outplayed) and we may as well not be there(the playoff race). Go Broncos! 23-20 Last second FG or OT FG. I hope we win.
While the sd game was big the one that is going to come back to haunt us that we really should have one is Washington. We would still be even records and the tie breakers still might have put us in front of SD. But too many games to still worry about to look in the past. A lot of things can happen. The real broncos just need to keep showing up. Good running, great defense and balanced attack.
Go broncos. so mad cbs isn’t showing this game in my area. Off to the sports bars I guess.
sorry, should have won.. What was I thinking… more coffee please
True enough balin I think a win against the Chargers back on nov 22 would have made it easier. My oppinion ( and thats all it is just like yours) mabey EASY is something we don’t need? If we wouldn’t have been humiliated like that in front of our own crowd that sense of urgancy might not have come at the right time. All I have heard from the players since the beggining of the season is that they wanted to get off to a good start and play their best football from thanksgiving on ( not my words, thats from the players themselves and were doing just that!!.) Mabey the term Must Win game should be changed to turning point game because every game in a 16 game season is a Must win game until you lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This is a game of one and done when the playoffs start ( so again must win). Another thing I was trying to point out is I don’t think SD is as good as a lot of so called experts seem to think they are and I also believe they are feeling the heat from us breathing down their neck. Today in my oppinion (and I need to keep hammering that home) needs to be our TURN AROUND GAME.
Only time will tell, but I do remember a time back in the 1990′s when a team from Kansas City won the AFC west and a guy named Alfred Williams told them they could keep that distinction because we were going to win the Super Bowl.
Thats History now but history somehow has a way of repeating itself just like I will now ” THATS MY OPPINION LIKE IT OR NOT!!!”
Regards,
Coach
Hey, coach has got the fire today, good for you, now let’s hope our coach feels the same burning desire… Kick off, where are you?
