The Broncos on Monday placed defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson on injured reserve.
The team was awarded fullback Quinn Johnson off waivers from Tennessee as a corresponding roster move. In addition, the club waived running back Brandon Minor from injured reserve.
Johnson, acquired by the Titans via trade in September, spent his first two NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, serving primarily as a lead blocker. He appeared in 11 games with four starts last season, catching three passes for 26 yards during the regular season, adding five special-teams tackles as the Packers eventually won Super Bowl XLV.
That championship gave Johnson the rare feat of winning a title at every level of football — Little League, high school, college and the NFL.
The former fifth-round draft pick saw action at fullback in Tennessee’s first four games of the season, catching three passes for 30 yards, including two against the Broncos in Week 3.
He helped Chris Johnson amass his first 100-yard rushing game of the season in Week 4.
In college at LSU, Johnson played in 40 games with 15 starts, carrying the ball 16 times for 34 yards and five touchdowns in addition to five catches for 54 yards.
Vickerson’s move to injured reserve leaves the team with Brodrick Bunkley, Ryan McBean, Marcus Thomas and Mitch Unrein as the defensive tackles on the active roster.

Glad M.Thomas is back…just in time!!!
I Like Quinn!! Former LSU Tiger!!
Too true BFE but still we are getting mighty thin.
We better trade Orton for a DT or something … anything … talk about lack of depth.
TRB
Quinn 6’1 255 lbs…now he should be able to open some holes!!!
caramelloo another SEC player!!!
TRB,I hear ya bro,we definitely need some more depth at DT!!!
We can still claim waivers, surely theres a DT out there that’s good enough to play backup.Thomas and Bunkley can hold their own,but we need depth,McBean has been playing much better, but Unrein hasn’t showed me anything!!!
I wonder if Vickerson got hurt on that play where everyone was scuffling.? Don’t know… Thin is a good way to put it.
Mario Williams is out for the season too. Brutal injuries.
Beast you and I are one in the same when it comes to our SEC guys!! Throw Orton out there and sacrifice him! Hahaha
Lose a guy at a major position and gain a valuable FB which we have been badly needing, not bad mouthing Larsen, anxious to see what that Quinn can do for us, hopefully his name is not a bad omen.
That’s what the 18th trade deadline is for, filling holes that might open up early in the season, DT is just a really troubling situation for us now, paper thin, but seriously doubt they will pull any trades.
I like Larsen a lot. Hope he still has a spot on the team.
Crick in 2012!
2011, year of The Lockout Fallout. Injury speaking of course.
Too bad for Larsen? Guess he’s a special teamer. Or trade bait?
I am curious to know how the injury recovery is going for DMT, JT and Eddie?
As for our suddenly young secondary- 2 rookie safeties. And two 2nd year CBs.
Well, the only way to get better is with playing time I suppose.
Can we promote Kyle McCarthy? And what about Bruton?
Man, we are thin at DT, ouch.
I think Larsens done a really good job. I don’t know how he could loose his job, he’s been giving McGahee 100 yard weeks
That’s extra protection for Tebow. The new starting QB.
Nah, Larson isn`t going anywhere. Quinn is just another FB that we really did need as how I see it.
I don’t think the Quinn acquisition necessarily means anything for Larsen, Fox has kept two FBs on his roster many times.
if we find out that Orton is starting over TT tomorrow, there will be riots in Denver…
Larsen looks awesome. He is such a utility FB too. He also had some wise words to say after the game yesterday.
I also wish Knowshow would show up every game like he did yesterday. He ran like he had a fire in his butt yesterday on that TD run. Where is that every game.
Also guys, don’t forget that we need some D backs too. they were getting tired after playing for 40+ minutes. Trade or cut Orton and get a DB and a DL. We are running scarce in those positions
-mile high salute-
Why does anyone think Orton has any trade value? He doesn’t. Furthermore, in-season trades in the NFL are extremely rare unlike in the MLB or NBA.
I guess you missed the whole discussion.
Lol i knew SNDVL would come to Larsens defense … Larsen has done well but i am curious about quinn. He sounds like a full on FB … Larsen is a jack of all trades and master of none but he has been doing very well on his lead blocks and in special teams but I am curious for Quinn like Baylin … maybe we finally got the right quinn since Richard and Brady aint quite work out.
Wonder how long Dawk is out. Bye week came at a good time
I expect Royal DMT and Julius Thomas to be back after bye week or the week after that. Which would be awesome for TT to have em all.
Like McGahee but still hoping Fanning pans out … lets not forget how good the guy was in preseason .. young guy big body like McGahee with GREAT speed. Hopefully he is still with us next year however if he gets injured again next year … he might be thrown in to the injury prone Bin. Only reason I am talking about this is cuz as good as McGahee is, he is already 30 … Good to go a few more years but Fannin could be the big guy without having to spend a pick on a next RB. TRB
RSH … dude I don’t care if it is for a 7th round pick … that would be 1 more pick than we will have when he leaves at the end of this year … unload the guy … altho I also doubt he has trading value either which was why after the year he had last year that decieved many people … THAT was the best time to trade him … and many fans knew that too. Because we were not wearign Orton blinders … we knew he would sucks but I would trade him for a back up DT right about now too … he is of no real use on our bench. IMO. TRB
I wonder if they are moving Spencer back to LB? Most teams dont carry to Full Backs.
Larsen @ LB is music to this bloggers ears!!!
You can now ask your questions for Elway on the next blog.
Okay, now here is a dilemma, Orton was voted the offensive captain. If they decide to start Tebow then what? Will he be the captain from the bench? If they name Tebow the starter maybe Orton will decide to retire on his 5.5 million. I wonder if Orton is brave enough to walk around Denver’s streets. Just some stuff I have been thinking about.
i wonder how much orton eats out i would be willing to bet there has been some nasty stuff done to his meals spit dropping on the floor ect….

whoops i said the same crap twice my bad
we should have sent him to the dolphins but excepted less then a second round pick a third or fourth sounds great right now.not to mention if we did send him there we probably have 4 wins right now as a result of tebow playing
The scrutiny of Orton is unfair and unwarranted. He earned a chance to start and didnt do much to prove it was the right decision, that does not make it ok to call him a gutless baby who quits. Lets just look forward to Tebow there is nothing more to be said on Orton
Broncos Country: As much as I love to hate the faders. RIP Al. You always did things your own way!! I can respect that. He was responsible for us fans having the super bowl!! Sorry to interrupt the blog! Just me!
FTR
FTR I’m with you he ran the most hated team but he did it his way and changed the landscape of the NFL RIP Al Davis teh NFL lost a great member saturday
Always been a Larson fan. Hope this guy fits!

The scrutiny of Orton is unfair and unwarranted??? really 9 turnovers in 4 1/2 games and should have been more not to mention his bruiting and refusal to help Tim That’s not what a leader does .Look at how Manny Veteran QBS get replaced and they help the kids learn the game to not do so is CLASSES SELFISH and CHILDISH be a team player if you put the C on your chest.I think that says all there needs to be said . KO dont let the door hit you on the way out of the mile high city . You were a stop gap at best !
I LMSDB!!

Its a reply like that that basically proves my point. I have always wanted to see Tebow be the starter but I recall last year Orton had 20 tds and 9 ints… not too bad. With all the negativity and animosity towards him from our fan base I’m suprised he did as well as he did. The guy wants to win! Try having a guy drafted when your the starter and immedietly fans want him to replace you. your argument doesnt take into account any of that so once you level of a little bit make a better point because the last one was a completely biased opinion due to a love for Tebow
Your in your job profession at 27 and your boss brings in a 23 year old that is supposedly the companies savior… do you really mentor and tutor that kid so your out of a job.
most professional QBS and all players for that matter do its the nature of the business and what is expected most teams have a young QB or young players for that matter Nipping at the heals of the veteran if your a professional and a leader you do whats best for the team .Need and example we drafted not one but two safeties this season B dawk and champ have taken them under their wings that the meaning of being a leader in the NFL . You think dawk pouts like a child if they pull him if its whats best for the team Real profeshionals KNOW THAIR ROLE .
BDawk 37 Champ 33 when you make a comparison make sure it makes sense. Orton 28 HUGE difference and btw Orton has helped Tebow but it is not his responsability to mentor him, so get off of Ortons A** He is a professional who wanted to retain his starting job! Get over this hate you have for him. I’m not even a fan but all you do is attack the guys character and for what? because you have a man crush on Tebow or something? Get over it!
It did make sense your argument consists of he doesn’t need to be a professional or a team player ? He can act like a spoiled child because he wants to keep his job ?and the others that mentor younger players dont?I used the NFL culture as and example .I think its you that must have a crush or are you related to him ?older players mentor the younger ones it is the way it is in locker rooms ,on the field and in the meeting rooms.unless your a TO type its all about me player!so dry your eyes KO career not only in denver but in the league as a starter IS OVER.
I love Orton for saying he shouldnt be bad mouthed and for Tebow to start right that is sensible. An over the hill Brett Farve didn’t want to mentor Aaron Rodgers, twice Jon Kitna held onto the starting job for dear life, something is a little different with QBs and I’m not gonna jump on Orton for not helping Tebow. With how you talk about how bad Orton is why would you want him mentoring Tebow anyways?
Oh yeah Joe Montana would rather be traded than help Steve Young. Amazingly enough I didnt see John Elway or Bubby Brister trying hard to help Brian Griesie.
Brett Farve definitely falls in to the prototypical Me player and got ran out of a city he won a championship in for that very reason! And your boy Orton is shown his colours to be that type of player as well ! Ill let my leadership do the talking sound familiar? Even after the game he had the balls to say i support all my team mates what a crock !for those 2 examples there are Manny many more to the positive side . Lets use a old but good one see Elway and Deberg.Montana is another Brady yet another .When they say that guy is a class act and a true leader at the QB position that’s what they mean . To answer your direct Q however 1 most importantly because he has a C on his chest .2 because it would garner him some of the respect only you and he thinks he should be givin .3 because he chokes under pressure dose not mean he may not have some insight into D schematics or the play book that might be helpful to Tim !
Montana is another me player, and Brady wasnt mentoring his replacement he was mentoring a back up who isnt a threat. If they had drafted a QB in the first round to replace him Mr Brady wouldnt have been so lax about mentoring a player like I said its a different spot. And yes Orton has earned our respect McD through him into a fire he never wanted and all he has done is played with a broken body and done his best albeit not great but he is a competitor and thats respect worthy
Am I the only one here secretly hoping that Peyton Hillis and the Browns can’t come to an agreement by next season, and he some how lands back here?? I’d rather see Moreno start to spark and become the player we’ve been hoping for, but trading Hillis was when McD truly lost my confidence.
Ah well, just a random thought… I’m curious to see how having a QB like Tebow effects the running game — I would be ecstatic to see McGahee and Moreno continue the type of performances we saw Sunday.
In his HOf speech young said “i would never have become the player i did with out the support of my mentor Joe Montana ” He wanted to be traded to continue to play and NEVER sulked on the sidelines.quit trying to pull facts out of the air to support Orton’s bad attitude . Elway most certainly did to try to help Brian Griesie you should read his book and get the facts from the horses mouth no pun intended.Bubby was drunk most the time and did not have a great grip on the playbook and I have no direct knowledge of his leadership.
