HALFTIME The Broncos will receive the ball to start the second half.
Q3 15:00: Cassius Vaughn returns the kickoff for Denver 4 yards to the 26-yard line. Tim Tebow takes the snap and scrambles for 3-yards up the middle of the field, and on the next play Tebow throws to Bruce Hall for no gain. On third-and-7, Tebow can’t complete a pass to Matthew Willis, but the Vikings are called offsides and the down is repeated. This time Tebow finds Willis for a 15-yard gain and a Denver first down. Bruce Hall takes a handoff and runs 9 yards on the following first down. Minnesota takes their first time out of the half.
Q3 12:28: On second-and-2, Hall picks up the first down and picks up five more to the Minnesota 39. On the very next play, Tebow and Willis hook up again, this time for a 39-yard touchdown.
BRONCOS 14, VIKINGS 17
Q3 11:39 Tim Tebow has completed 10 consecutive passes. Ian Johnson is back to receive Prater’s kick, and takes it 22 yards up to the 29-yard line. Joe Webb comes in at quarterback for the Vikings and completes his first pass for 14 yards.
Q3 10:23: Darius Reynaud takes a handoff for no gain for the Vikings, setting up third-and-five from the 43-yard line. Webb shakes the Broncos defense and scrambles 41 yards upfield until Alphonso Smith brings him down. Reynaud runs left on a sweep and Cassius Vaughn makes the tackle after an 11-yard gain. The Vikings set up in a first-and-goal at the 6-yard line.
**INJURY UPDATE** Marquez Branson has a leg injury and is questionable to return.
Q3 7:11: After a 1-yard Reynaud run, Ian Johnson carries the ball for a 4-yard touchdown. Longwell converts the extra point attempt and puts the Vikings up 24-10.
BRONCOS 14, VIKINGS 24
Q3 7:09: Cassius Vaughn is back to receive the kickoff. and he busts out a 50-yard return to the 48-yard line.
Q3 6:55: On first down Tim Tebow pulls down the ball and tries to evade the rush, but Erin Henderson catches him for a 1-yard sack. Bruce Hall takes the handoff outside for no gain, setting up a third-and-11. Tebow takes a shotgun snap and scrambles, making one man miss and running up the field for a 14-yard gain and a Broncos first down.
Q3 4:53: Bruce Hall runs for two yards on the first down, and Tim Tebow fires a pass to Eric Decker on second down, but Decker can’t hang on and it’s ruled incomplete. On third-and-8 Alric Arnett can’t come down with a Tebow pass, and the Broncos elect to go for it on fourth down. Tebow and Arnett try to connect on a similar play, but the ball sails out of bounds.
Q3 4:12: The Vikings take over possession on their own 38-yard line. Webb hands off to Reynaud for 3-yard gain on first down, and the running back spins off a tackle for 2 more yards the next play. On third-and-5 Webb completes a pass to Javon Walker on a comeback route for 7 yards and a first down after Alphonso Smith wrestles him down. On the first down Ian Johnson takes the ball for a short gain, but the next play Webb throws a pick to Alphonso Smith, who runs the ball down to the 6-yard line.
Q3 1:32: Brady Quinn takes over the reigns from Tebow at quarterback. Quinn takes the snap from under center and hands off to Bruce Hall for no gain. Quinn completes a pass to Hall for 5 yards, setting up third-and-goal from the 2-yard line. Denver takes a time out, their first of the half.
Q3 0:23: The Vikings fans are on their feet cheering loudly as Bruce Hall gets stopped 1 yard short of the end zone. The third quarter ends with the Broncos forced into a fourth down 1 yard away from the goal line.
Q4 15:00: Denver is challenging the ruling that the previous play did not account for a touchdown. The ruling on the field stands and Denver is charged with their second timeout. Bruce Hall is stopped short of the touchdown, but there’s a flag on the play. Denver is called for holding and Minnesota declines and takes over possession.
Q4 14:52: Webb launches a deep pass for Javon Walker, but Smith shows strong coverage and the pass falls incomplete. On second down Webb is pressured by Worrell Williams and throws the ball away out of bounds. The Vikings set up in the shotgun and Webb’s pass sails over Freddie Brown’s head, bringing up fourth down.
Q4 14:43: Syd’Quan Thompson fields the punt for a 9-yard gain, and the receiving team is called for a holding penalty enforced after the play. Quinn completes a 21-yard pass to Decker on the first play of the possession. On the next play Quinn finds Decker for 6 yards, and on second down the two connect again for another 6 yards. The Broncos are called offsides and are pushed back 5 yards, but Quinn finds Decker for the fourth consecutive time and hits him on a 14-yard pass. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Minnesota cuts the distance to the goal in half, and Lance Ball takes a handoff up the right said and into the end zone. However, a Denver holding penalty negates the score and the Broncos are back to first-and-15. The Minnesota defense pressures Quinn and he throws the ball away. On second down, Quinn lofts a pass to Alric Arnett in the end zone. Denver declines an illegal contact penalty on Eric Frampton, and Matt Prater converts the extra point, cutting the deficit to 24-21.
BRONCOS 21, VIKINGS 24
Q4 12:01: Matt Prater boots the kickoff for a touchback. Ian Johnson totes the ball 4 yards on first down, and takes a draw play up the middle for 3 on second down. On third-and-3, Johnson catches a short pass from Webb and turns it into 9-yard gain after Cassius Vaughn pushes him out of bounds. On the next play, Javon Walker gets open past Alphonso Smith and catches a Joe Webb pass for a 63-yard touchdown. Longwell makes the extra point, putting the Vikings up by 10.
BRONCOS 21, VIKINGS 31
Q4 10:07 Cassius Vaughn takes out the kickoff to the 21-yard line, but Denver is called for holding and they start the drive from the 11. Quinn drops back and finds Decker for a 9-yard completion. On second down Bruce Hall barrels up the middle for 2 yards and a first down.
Q4 9:00: Quinn’s first down throw is deflected and falls incomplete. On the next play Quinn hits Decker, who streaks up the middle for an 18-yard gain. Bruce Hall turns up field and runs 11 yards after receiving a screen pass from Quinn, and the back carries again for 4 yards on the subsequent play. Tyrell Johnson collapses on Quinn for the sack on second down, setting up 3rd-and-11. Riar Geer hauls in a catch from Quinn for 6-yards, and the Broncos are going for it on fourth down. Quinn sets up in the shotgun and converts the first down with the help of Eric Decker, who reeled in a catch right at the marker and ran a step past it for 7 yards.
Q4 4:56: Brady Quinn escapes the pressure on first down and scrambles to his right for 6 yards. On second down his pass falls incomplete, and on third down he takes a shotgun snap and has the ball batted away as he releases it. Matt Prater hits a 49-yard field goal and puts his team 7 points away from the Vikings.
BRONCOS 24, VIKINGS 31
Q4 4:44: Prater kicks off deep to Reynaud, and the ball flies out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. Joe Webb escapes a sack by Kevin Alexander, makes another defender miss, and scampers away for 9 yards. Ian Johnson carries the ball 5 yards for a Minnesota first down. On the first down, Baraka Atkins takes down Johnson in the backfield for a 2-yard loss. Webb completes a pass to a kneeling Javon Walker to set up 3rd-and-5, and the Broncos take their final timeout of the game.
Q4 2:27: Webb’s pass falls incomplete, but there’s a flag on the play. Alphonso Smith is called for an illegal contact penalty, and the Broncos cede an automatic first down. Smith recovers a Reynaud fumble and gives the Broncos possession with 2:11 left on the clock.
Q4 2:11: Quinn drops back and fires a 13-yard pass to Eric Decker, bringing up the two-minute warning.
Q4 2:00: The Broncos take the ball on the 32-yard line. Quinn find Hall with a 13-yard completion, and he hurries to the line and connects with Alric Arnett for a 6-yard gain. On second down Quinn’s pass is low and incomplete, bringing up third-and-4 from the 12-yard line. Minnesota sends multiple blitzers and Quinn is forced to throw the ball away. On fourth down Quinn throws a pass into the hands of Riar Geer, but he can’t hang on to it and Denver loses possession.
Q4 0:50: Minnesota calls a timeout, and Webb kneels the ball twice in a row to run out the clock and end the game.
FINAL SCORE: BRONCOS 24, VIKINGS 31

thanks marshisboss. I have to record the later aired game on NFL network and watch tomorrow.
all3 qbs have great completion % tonight
Did Carolina even score a td all preseason???
no prob broncomania
Looking forward to week 1, the season is upon us!!!!!! I love Broncos Season…. LOL
Now that’s a bad offense. Carolina lol
Haha Quinn doesn’t pass to decker and we go 3 and out.
it was too good to be true
We won the second half though.
Well Geer will be gone!!
Bring on jacksonville
Tebow #2 QB, sorry Quinn. GO Orton!!!!
i think so broncosfreak
We are looking for more tight ends that can catch really good and also block so Geer is gone, I’d bet anything on that! I think Quinn will stay here this season unless they were trying to show him off so we could shop him but I still think he’ll stay here this season! Also Tebow definitely deserves to be 2nd string! I forget the last time I saw a rookie look this good at QB! Trust me guys, he’s going to be huge!!
Well guys TERRIBLE NEWS!!! White and Harris sustained pretty bad injuries apparently in the game tonight!!!
wow
I finally can get into this blog, no easy chore…
Anyway, about last night, up and down, up and down, great plays, ugly plays, etc… Name of the game; no consistency whatsoever, one might say understandable for a 4th preseason game. Considering the performance I don’t see that playing the starters did us any good, but that’s the way McD rolls.
No sense to truly evaluate such game, it would be a futile exercise, just a couple remarks about individual efforts:
Willis IS THE MAN, again and again and again and if he doesn’t make the team I quit, haha.
Tebow, Jekyll and Hyde as usual but the good overcomes the bad as usual also.
Quinn did play his best preseason game, but really had one great throw to crow about, the beautiful TD pass to Arnett in the corner of the end zone. Other than that, he spent all night dunking it in the middle to Decker playing against a 3rd and 4th string D that applied very little pressure on him, and whenever pressure was applied nothing good came of it, not to mention he started a drive at the Minnesota 6 yd line and got nothing to show for it.
But what that does is make it a certainty that McD will keep 3 QB’s if there ever was any doubt, I was just wishing we’d go with just Orton and Tebow and give Quinn’s spot to someone who could really help us, oh well, I guess I can handle Quinn on the sideline holding a clipboard, so I will drop my Quinn must go campaign for now because it has no chance to succeed at this point.
Bottom line is Tebow will be named #2. I will back that up with only one argument, Tebow threw to Willis 5 times for 122 yards, while Quinn threw to Decker twice as many times (10) for less yards (114)!!! Tebow is the vertical game, the guy who makes it happen all the way to the end zone time after time, Quinn is the consumate boring move the chains little by little at best and usually unable to close the deal with a score.
Decker is ready to back up Royal in the slot, so that makes unhealthy Stokley easily expandable so we can keep Willis, we better…
Regardless of his INT, Phonzy to me put in the final nails into his coffin last night even so some here say McD won’t get rid of a first round pick after a year, not getting rid of him would be a huge disservice to the team, this guy keeps on being a liability in many facets of the game, and the other teams know it since they kept the majorities of the plays going right at him, I’d do the same. Phonzy must go!!!
One thing that I’m somehow tickled at is White has shown without a shred of a doubt that he is the reason we are being more successful on short yardage, not the O line as so many kept arguing when Moreno could never get that short yardage himself last year, but the running back personel was the major problem. And McD never even gave the slightest interest to a big power back in the off season that some of us wanted so badly. Just because in TC he got so desperate with his running game situation did McD bring in White and it was very lucky since he had been released by Seattle. So bottom line McD is no genius at all bringing us the power back we always knew we needed, he just stumbled upon him by accident pretty much, and now he found out the true value of a power back in his system, something he never agreed to, always blamed it on the O line… How lucky can a coach be, amazing, that’s why all of this amuses me.
Injury wise, bummer for Harris, hope it’s not too severe, White should be no big deal as he has 5 weeks to re-hab before he can play another down.
That’s about all I can muster about this game, pretty comical it was in more ways than one, I amuse myself easily, LOL.
Forgot Branson hurt is a setback also, hope it’s not serious either.
LenDale ruptured his Achilles……so, thats it for him.
I hope the Harris and White injuries arent too severe. White almost looked like an achilles type of freak injury. Harris got rolled on after the conclusion of the play. Freak type of thing in and of itself.
Most people talk about theor 2 cents worth. Well heres my 5 cents worth-
1- Injures suck. We have been ravaged by them. Its a part of the game, I know, but at this rate we might not have a healthy team til next year.
2- Lendale White will add a dimension to our game I havent witnessed since #30! That is the back imposing his will in the red zone. I hope his injury isnt too severe.
3- Orton is THE MAN. He is in complete control of this offense. He is poised. He is confident. He must have played a little tennis in the offseason…lmao
4- The kids can play! Boy can they play. Willis, Cox, Thompson, Walton, Beadles, Decker, Ayers, Bruton and Tebow (though he needs to cut the TO’s, tho better to do it early rather then later)! Just need to see a little more from Knowshon and Bay Bay…
5- Injuries suck.
Elvis will be missed. I hold out hope that Moss, Hunter, Mays…whomever is there, can hold down the fort. Moss especially can become a dynamic player. With that size. I hope he turns it on. We might just have a NEW BEAST on our team.
Get Healthy Boys!
I LOVE ME SOME 2K10 DENVER BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!
McD just keeps amazing me….after all the injuries,he still keeps playing starters in meaningless games…stupid…now we prob lost White(which is our powerback)since we didn’t draft one!!!!!for the rest of the season, and Harris and Branson, who knows how long they’ll be out.I know you have to play starters in preseason to keep them from getting rusty, but Damnit, when the injury bug keeps biting, biting, and biting sit the Damn starters and play the rookies and latchon players,we are definitely screwed at the RB position, and Oline too if Clady dosen’t become 100% healthy.Just one man’s opinion that don’t mnean a Helluva lot!!!!!!!
And before anybody bashes me,I’ll tell you right now,I’m not asking anyone to agree with me,this is my opinion that I WILL EXPRESS ANYTIME I WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!
McD=Jeckyl & Hyde!!! acts smart sometimes and dumb sometimes!!!
Man I’m glad today is TGIF!!!!
BFE
Oh yeah…I agree with Baylin’s asessment on Phonzy,he sucks,I say cut him now,I’m only 5’9 and 200lbs and at 40 I can cover better than him, what a bust!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys, LenDale will be out for a year. HE can’t recover from a ruptured Achilles in 4 weeks.
As far as Quinn goes,I know he sucks right now,but I been watching a couple Titans games and Simms don’t look any better, they both hold the ball too long, they both suck,I think Baylin hit the nail on the head when he said we go with 2 QBs and ditch Quinn,I am really disappointed in his play, because I was one of the few who were actually saying he would be good. But McD will prob go with 3 QBs so ditch Quinn for a 6th or 7th round pick and bring in a veteran backup,at least they could help Tebow,God knows Quinn can’t.
fm,that’s bad news considering White was the best part of our running game in preseason,I was looking forward to see him tearing it up on short yardage this year,Moreno and Bucky can’t seem to.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/03/ruptured-achilles-for-lendale-white/
If its true about Lendale, that was a DUMB move on McD and companies part to release that info now.
Does that mean he serves his four game suspension next season???
McD has failed the preseason maturity test…
fm..Thanks for the info, but I don’t agree with bringing back Fargus,Ball will be better than him.IMO
If White goes on IR he will prob have to serve his 4 weeks next year,I think.McDufus blew it again.
and we still lost the meaningless preseason game……
Thanks sndvl…that made me laugh,I needed that,after the mood I was in.LOL
sndvl…I guess your get healthy stay healthy chant ain’t working, cause McD ain’t listening.
thats all any of can do this afternoon!!! or morning depending on your time zone
LOL. I forgot, baylin mentioned it last season. We should do the reverse psychology trick on McD.
For example- Keep Phonzy!
BLOG F!@#$D UP.
Yeah Phonzy is the greatest and Quinn should start and Orton sucks!!LMAO
I actually thought White would come in,and after proving he still can play, fighting Moreno for playing time,I said as soon as I heard we signed him I think he could be a starter over Moreno and Buck, but it’s all a mute point now, cause he’s out for the year and could possibly be scarred for life cause sometimes those type of injuries plague a player for years, and they are never the same again.
Doom-out for season
White-out for season
Clady-questionable
Harris-????????
Thomas-??????
Moreno-??????
Buck-????????
Beadles-underachieving
Phonzy-sucks
McD-!@#$%^&*
Champ-next year???????
I wished 5:00 would hurry up!!!!!!!!!
BFE
Doom could be back by December
White is out for sure if he did rupture his Achilles.
Clady looks like he’ll make a full recovery
Harris is questionable, because we don’t know the severity of his ankle injury. If its a high ankle sprain, he could be gone till October.
Thomas should be a go by week 1 from what i heard.
Moreno should be good for week 1 as well.
Bucky should be fine
i don’t think beadles is underachieving. I think McD was feeling out his rotation, if Clady couldn’t go at LT. Thats why Daniels stayed at LG, and then Beadles came in at RT and then later LT.
Phonzy- My family calls him Onesie, cause he is such a baby (Ow! I fell down and hurt my tummy! Boo Hoo!) LOL My Grandma coulda picked off the ball he did. And he could’t out run a QB? He sucks.
White definitely out for the year, I just can’t fathom that, he was the only bright spot for short yardage as I referred to in my 10:16 am post, this is devastating either way I look at it.
Well guys I think McD will sign someone here really soon! Apparently New England might be releasing Laurence Maroney so we might be able to get him or someone bigger and good! Remember, the 53 man roster spot is coming very soon so there will be a lot of good players who are released!!
I just think that our staff needs to come in to group on the day that the 53 man roster is done and pick who the best power back would be for us to get so they can go ahead and get here and start learning the play book and practicing!!
I love me some Broncos Country!
Yeah Bay, this is like twilight zone. I feel like we have some kind of curse. It just seems like the bad news keeps coming and coming. It’s tought being a die hard fan like most of us. Bronco’s season is a big deal to me. I am still holding on to hope that the Broncos will have a successful season but it is getting harder and harder.
Also Derrick Ward was released from the Bucs so he could be an option!! McD just needs to hurry up and access all the power backs and hurry up and get the best one available!! We are going to need someone immediately to replace White because we can’t move the ball with Buck and Moreno on short yardage!! They are the types of backs that have that speed and elusiveness and we need someone like White that can fight and move some players with him!!
This is why I said before the draft that we should’ve gotten Gerhart!!
Plus I just saw that the Saints released DL Bobby McCray! That is very interesting!
I’m like BFE, really down in the dumps, about the Broncos that is, I’m running out of optimism to find something to hang my hat on each time we are dealt a severe blow, honestly a winning record at this point would be a miracle, this is indeed another dark day in our off season and if you add them all up, you’d just about forget the sun ever shines anymore at Dove Valley this season. McD,s team is in a tail spin before even playing a meaningful game and I don’t know what to tell him that could honestly make things stop spinning, this is right down a nightmare, unfortunately Sept 12 we don’t just wake up and it was all a bad dream, instead we have to go to battle with what we got. I would imagine many players on the team, specially the ones with time running out on their side, are feeling the full brunt of the miserable bad luck, bad whatever, that has besieged us. And sndvl, I hear you about McD, like a little kid, gotta ask the opposite to get what we want, but even I have not enough positive on my side right now to joke about the state of affairs in Broncoland. Gladly I’m taking off this pm until Tuesday on the Orange Crush, so I won’t drag anybody down any further than I already have. Sorry guys, everyone knows I call it as I see it, and what I see is utter confusion at this stage of the season, not a good omen, it was Jaworski who just recently said the Broncos are heading for some “troubles” this season, that might be putting it mildly. Anyway, thank god it is just a game, so with that in mind; Happy Labor Day week-end to all.
Happy Labor Day weekend Baylin, have a good one bro,and a cold one!!!!!!!
BFE
Thanks BFE, many, many, many cold ones and top notch stuff, I can’t let this Bronco train wreck ruin my life.
Meant to say top notch brews, haha.
Betts just got released.
I am not buying into the doom and gloom. We have a lot of bright spots on this team and some good young players coming along with some good veterans. Clady is back, Walton and Beatles are getting experience and better. Quarterback department looks awesome compared to last year. I see a lot of bright spots and look forward to a successful season for the Broncos. I see us coming together as a TEAM.
Just a few takes, not gonna be popular opinion but here goes
Harris injury is why I had been saying rest the starters, that was foolish and could easily have been cladys leg rolled over instead. You know. the leg he just repaired
White is unfourtunate but he wasnt really a starter, he was the leading back up and with him out for 4 games we needed to assess him more. Just unfortunate, and yes he gets the tough yards but ONLY when the Oline gives him a chance. Cuz Bruces Hall doesnt get it when the oline gives him a chance and then sometimes like last night on 4th and 1. Before the ball even touched halls hands there were 2 Vikes in the backfield. cant beat that.
Brady Quinn did better. He is getting more confidence. Some guys just have confidence no matter what. Tebow for example. He can screw up but he has somethign all QBs NEED. A short memory and boundless confidence. Like ive always sais, BQ doesnt hurt this team as a 3rd QB, he is learning and improving. But if he gets traded, I wouldnt care.
Phonzy. still say we keep him. yea he sux but I still hold out hope that maybe he is just a slow learner. And with the loss of Barrett, he can just be that extra special teams guy. The starting DB are clearly Champ, Goody, Dawkins and Hill. With back up from Cox, Nate Jones, Sydquan, Cassius vaughn, Phonzy, and McBath and Bruton @ safety.
Now I havent botherd to do the math to see if there is space for phonzy, but if there isnt we just have to cut him and hope we can put him on the practice squad.
Just my thoughts, hate it or love it
