Broncos at Titans: Second Half Blog

September 25th, 2011 - 12:40pm by Gray Caldwell

KICKOFF: The Titans deferred after winning the opening coin toss, and will receive to start the second half.

Q3 15:00: Marc Mariani raises his hands to signal ‘It’s good’ as Matt Prater’s kickoff sails through the uprights for a touchback. The Titans take over at their own 20-yard line, and first down brings a carry by Johnson, who is stuffed at the line. He officially picks up a yard. On second down, it’s another carry by Johnson, and Ayers takes him down after another yard. That makes it third-and-8, and Matt Hasselbeck scrambles around in the backfield before hitting Damian Williams for a 19-yard gain and a first down at the 41-yard line.

Q3 13:06: On first down, Hasselbeck hits his fullback Quinn Johnson for a 9-yard gain before he’s taken down by Wesley Woodyard. Johnson picks up the necessary yard for a first down on the next play. With the ball now in Denver territory on the 49, Hasselbeck hits Washington for a 7-yard gain. Second down brings an incomplete pass as Hasselbeck is hit from a blitz, and it’s now third-and-4 at the 43-yard line. Hasselbeck is in the shotgun and he finds a receiver right at the sticks, and apparently that will move the chains.

Q3 10:20: On first down, Hasselbeck tries to hit Johnson up the middle of the field but it’s incomplete. Second down brings a large group of Broncos into the backfield to stuff Javon Ringer at the line. Now third-and-10, Hasselbeck lines up in the shotgun. He takes the snap and tries to hit Lavelle Hawkins, but Jonathan Wilhite is there for the breakup. Brett Kern is in to punt, and Quan Cosby is deep to receive. Cosby calls for a fair catch at the 20-yard line after the 19-yard punt.

Q3 9:07: On first down, Kyle Orton quickly hits Eric Decker for another first down at the 31-yard line. The ensuing play is a 1-yard run by Willis McGahee. On second down, Orton steps up in the pocket and hits Daniel Fells for another first down. McGahee takes another carry on the next play, picking up 5 yards. Orton calls a timeout, Denver’s first of the second half, before the second-down play.

Q3 7:03: After the break, McGahee picks up a yard on second down. Now third-and-4, Orton breaks the huddle in the shotgun. The crowd is getting loud as Orton hits Decker on a bubble screen. The receiver picked up just enough for the first down in Tennessee territory at the 49-yard line.

Q3 6:12: On first down, Orton sidesteps a big blitz and avoids a sack before finding McGahee for a pickup of a yard. On second down, Lance Ball bounces a carry outside for a pickup of 7, setting up third-and-2. Orton hits Decker for a first down on the sideline at the 34-yard line.

Q3 4:32: On first down, Orton hits Decker for a quick 5-yard gain, and a facemask penalty tacks on 15 more yards to the 14-yard line, where the Broncos have a first-and-10. Orton hits Spencer Larsen for a 7-yard gain on first down.

Q3 3:03: After a run for no gain, Orton throws toward Larsen, who makes a great, diving, shoestring catch for the first down inside the 5. Now first-and-goal at the 4-yard line, Orton fakes a handoff before firing incomplete toward Decker. Second down brings a run for a loss of a yard, and it’s third-and-goal at the 5-yard line. Orton steps up in the pocket and fires a hard pass to McGahee in the end zone, and the running back hauls it in for a touchdown. Prater’s extra point is good, and the Broncos retake the lead.

BRONCOS 14, TITANS 10

Q3 1:17: On the first play of Tennessee’s drive, Von Miller sprints into the backfield and slaps the ball away from Hasselbeck, causing a fumble on the sack, and the Broncos recover. They take over at the 13-yard line.

Q3 0:35: After a 1-yard run by McGahee, the back takes it again and picks up another 5 yards to set up third-and-4 as the third quarter comes to a close.

Q4 15:00: On third-and-4 at the 7-yard line, Orton lines up in the shotgun. A Tennessee defensive lineman sprints into the backfield before the ball was snapped. Encroachment, but instead of 5 yards, it’s a half-the-distance-to-the-goal penalty, so the Broncos still face third down — third-and-1 at the 4-yard line. There’s flags on the play again, and once again it’s encroachment, so now it’s a first down. First-and-goal at the 2-yard line.

Q4 14:57: Orton’s pass is incomplete on first down. On second-and-goal, McGahee is stopped at the line of scrimmage, bringing up third-and-goal at the 2. The crowd is getting loud as Orton hands off to McGahee, who fights off a tackle before being taken down just short of the goal line. It’s fourth-and-goal at the 1, and the Broncos call a timeout, their second of the half.

Q4 13:34: After talking it over, the Broncos will go for it on fourth down. The defense is calling for the crowd to get loud, and McGahee is stopped for no gain. Tennessee takes over on its own 1-yard line on a turnover on downs.

Q4 13:28: Chris Johnson picks up a yard on first down, then Hasselbeck finds Washington with a quick pass, and the receiver reaches out for the first down at the 12-yard line. On the ensuing play, Johnson catches a pass out of the backfield for 3 yards, and the Broncos are called for a facemask, giving the Titans a first down at the 30. On first down with room to work, Johnson takes a carry for a yard. Hasselbeck proceeds to throw two incomplete passes, and the Titans are forced to punt. Brett Kern kicks to the waiting Quan Cosby, and Cosby is taken down at the 26-yard line, where the Broncos take over.

Q4 10:40: On first down, McGahee gains 3 yards on a run. Second-and-7 at the 29-yard line brings a quick pass from Orton to Virgil Green, and the rookie tight end picks up the first down. On the ensuing first down, Orton hits Lloyd, and the receiver is taken down after a gain of a yard. On second down, Orton’s pass is tipped at the line and falls incomplete. That brings up third-and-9 at the 37-yard line, and Orton hits Lance Ball, but the back is short of the first down after picking up 7 yards. Colquitt is in to punt to the waiting Mariani. Chris Harris hits the receiver immediately and takes him down at the 10-yard line. The Titans are called for holding, as well, pushing the ball back to the 5-yard line.

Q4 7:54: On first down Hasselbeck completes to Quinn Johnson for 8 yards. Hasselbeck’s second down pass for Williams is incomplete. Ringer hauls in a screen pass on third down and gets just enough for the first down.

Q4 6:40: Hasselbeck hits Craig Stevens deep over the middle on first down and the tight end picks up 58 yards. With first-and-10 from the Denver 25, Johnson runs up the middle for 8 yards. Hasselbeck then hits Washington for a first down at the 4-yard line. On first-and-goal, Hasselbeck hits Daniel Graham for a touchdown off of play-action. Bironas knocks in the extra point.

TITANS 17, BRONCOS 14

Q4 4:24: Denver starts at the 20. On first down, McGahee picks up 10 yards. Orton’s first down pass on the next play is incomplete intended for Decker and McGahee runs 2 yards on second down. On third down, Orton hits Decker, who lunges for first down yardage.

Q4 2:00: Orton hits Brandon Lloyd for a 20-yard gain on first down and the clock runs to the 2 minute warning. Denver has the ball on the Tennessee 38-yard line with one timeout left.

Q4 1:39: On first down, Orton scrambles away from pressure and runs out of bounds after a loss of one. On second-and-11 throws incomplete short to Matt Willis. On third down, Orton’s pass is deflected into the air and intercepted by Will Witherspoon. Tennessee takes over at their own 36-yard line.

Q4 1:27: Ringer runs for short yardage on first down and a flag is thrown for illegal formation, making it 1st-and-15. Ringer then runs up the middle for 3 yards on the next play and Denver calls its final timeout.

Q4 1:25: On second down after the timeout, Rahim Moore stops Ringer in the backfield for a loss of 2 yards. Tennessee calls a timeout with 41 seconds remaining. Hasselbeck then takes a knee and the clock runs out to end the game.

Final Score: TITANS 17, BRONCOS 14

I would like tebow to be given atleast a 1 year look behind center before we send him somewhere else

Cutler got to the Pro-bowl and had some great games for us so I rate him better than everyone except Elway. If Shanahan had stayed Cutler would have been our QB now and we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Poor Mr Bowlen, must have been the worst decision he ever made.

  4. baylinorcrush says:

Orton is now 12-20 as a Bronco.

  5. dnarizona says:

    .722 thanks

  6. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I gotta tell u … kinda feel bad for orton … guy really wants to be good but he just doesn’t have it. Stuff never goes his way when it comes down to it. The sad thing is I was watching Falcons Bucks and they had a similar goal line play and thier QB just fell forward … maybe we shoulda tried that cuz our RBs never make it … don’t matter if their name is Moreno, or McGahee or Ball or Buck or whoever has been here since we lost our all star oline. It comes down to the Olines push. A back can only do so much … Bigger backs got a better chance but its all about the trenches … the battles are won and lost in the trenches. I would actually not mind if all our picks next year were spent on OL and DL. And I mean all because thats the focal point. If u lose that … everything else crumbles. They really should consider putting Tebow in the redzone or on a goal line sneak or something. All u gotta do is fall forward and fight. Either way … hindsight is 20/20 … it is what it is I guess. On to GB to get our tuckus kicked … All i can say is if losing gets Orton out faster … Im all for it. Its funny people may say … we barely lost both games … I say we coulda lost the game we won. Every dog has his day, and Cincy was our day … we cannot rely on cards fallen our way to win. I like the fight in the defense tho. We are getting there. You see some intensity … and this is coming from backups. I miss our starters in the line up but all this will do is give us quality depth, cuz instead of a guy like vaughn having no experience … now he has some. Silver lining i guess. TRB
ps: thx for all the bday wishes.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

Cutler was 17-20 as a Bronco.

  8. dnarizona says:

which as broncos his winning % is .375. well he sucks

  9. baylinorcrush says:

    Happy 23rd TRB, right?

  10. dnarizona says:

I think its funny that teboe only having played 3 games has a winning %.333 and kyle .375 winning % in 32 games

  11. Crazyhorserider says:

Forgot to say that Cutler’s diabetes had some effect on his Denver stats and one of the reasons I rate him so highly is due to the way he has dealt with his illness.

  12. dnarizona says:

Even thow I did not like McD I dont mind that cutler is gone what crybaby. Some b marsh, he sucks and so does cutler. Well and Orton sucks to

  13. 1nOnlyTRB says:

haha bay, your memory never ceases to amaze me … 23rd is correct.

Cutler had the physical attributes … the man can even scramble better than most QBs … he was just a tool. I thought we were going places before the coach switch but I could be wrong. Either way it happened and we are faced with a new predicament.

People think the fans are whiny and not supportive … they will know “not supportive” when broncos fans stop coming to games and our games get blacked out. Bronco fans are just to loyal and for that they deserve the best … or an attempt to give them the best … not this insanity of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I like fox … really I do … but he is too old fashioned at times … needs to loosen up a bit … not like that last child but … u know … lol

  14. dnarizona says:

I really wonder whats going on. I saw zanders on the sidelines today. Is thinking of firing someone.

  15. Crazyhorserider says:

Anyone who calls a quarterback in the NFL a crybaby is not in touch with the game. I would just like to see them facing an NFL defence and see how brave they are then. I admire them all.

  16. 1nOnlyTRB says:

On the upside I like the acquisition of Wilhite … I believe he is our most capable CB in a long time. Wish we coulda gotten Darius Butler as well from the pats but the Panthers scooped us. Miller stays forcing fumbles too. Missed alot of todays game but i caught some of it and sadly the parts I caught on offense was the 4th and short stop and the INT at the end … sigh. TRB

  17. dnarizona says:

Sorry maybe not a crybaby. but still I would rather have atleast 7 other qb then him.

  18. Bones1965 says:

John Clayton said that if Orton was benched B Quinn would start.

  19. 3rdGeneration says:

I loved the defense today. When is the last time you saw us dominate a running game like that? Thought Bunkley, Willhite, Miller, McBean, and Mays lead the charge. I really like what I’m seeing out of Woodyard and am confident we have DJs replacement next year. As I’ve said before and I’ll say again, Orton is just not a winner. I can’t think of a more unreliable clutch player in the history of the Denver Broncos quarterbacks. It’s like rubbing sandpaper (or maybe it’s more appropriate to say rubbing neck beards) in my eyes when I see him try to do something productive when it actually matters. Very frustrating. Anyway, I don’t want to ramble. Lastly, big players make big plays and I loved the Miller forced fumble late in the game.

  20. RabidOrange says:

    Somehow, I don’t think that would last…

  21. RabidOrange says:

Start counting, Broncos Country. Orton Quinns just a two more games and Tim will be leading the charge against Miami in week 7. However, if we somehow pull it off against GB, Orton will be the guy through the season.

  22. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

On this game I just went with what I thought could be one of our winnable games this season and it may just as well have. I think everything about our red-zone offense was shown once again in this game. I’m not going to peg this loss on one player, (Orton of course ⎯ even though bad things do happen when the ball is in his hands, in the clutch) no this was a poorly coached game, offensively.

However, I had to go and open my BIG mouth and enter the prediction contest knowing, knowing! In my head that we would most likely lose.

This is how I knew I would lose:

I was in the studio working all week, no football news, no news on our injury report. Also, I usually check out a few things regarding the opposing team before I enter, but since the signing i’ve been working extremely hard.

Anyway I have been working with some rap/r&b artist from Vallejo, a good friend of mine ‘Baby Bash’ and he was harping on me on how the Haters had put it on my Broncos and beat us in our own house.

I told him ‘I would guarantee that the Broncos would beat the Titans by 10 points’, and about how we got this blog contest (he wasn’t surprised that I blog here lol ILMSDB!!!). And how I had placed in last weeks victory board.

Anyway he gets me all hyped up, I show him some stats on Hasselbeck (which I posted after my prediction) so in my drunken pride I decided to show him how I would post my score prediction and be on the victory board again. See, thats where I went wrong I was out trying to prove something instead of gathering my prediction info intellectually … Moral: Never try to prove something in spite of yourself.

Now I know i’m gonna be on the Wall of Shame for my idiocy, and furthermore, I got to hear these jerks harp on my team >:( This has been one of those weeks…

    -Royalty

  23. broncochick1 says:

Wow!!! Even Josh McDaniels beat the Titans last year.

  24. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

broncochick1: I know right, when the schedule came out I thought that this would be one of our ‘winnable’ games… sigh

  25. broncochick1 says:

Hey Broncos’ management if Kyle Orton is the guy who gives us the best chance to win then give him a contract extension. If he is not the guy (which we all know to be the truth) let Tebow play. If he is awful go draft our future quarterback after this sad miserable year is over. Just stop insulting our intelligence as fans. We are watching the same game you are and some of us have a pretty good understanding of the game and the business behind the game. This is hard to watch. The defense looks good, but it appears we need Josh McDaniels back to run this offense as it looks inept at best.

  26. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

I agree with most of your sentiment bc1, excluding ‘needing McDaniels’ lol

  27. 3rdGeneration says:

I can’t find the results of the Cincy game prediction contest. Anyone know where Bay posted it?

  28. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

I think it is in the second half blog of the Cincy game…

  29. 3rdGeneration says:

I found it…thanks. I swear I should have been in there, but I can’t remember my exact prediction.

  30. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

Oh ok I had copied it just in case it was the first page of ‘Bowlen hands out game ball’ for anyone else that didn’t see it..

  31. 1nOnlyTRB says:

And for those who say “how is Orton supposed to win without a run game” … ask Matt Hasslebeck … and he is not even elite. CJ has only had 93 yards in 3 games … ringer hasn’t had much more. McGahee has had more running in Cincy game than CJ in 3 games … and they are 2-1 and we are 1-2 … u can try to give credit to their defense but not really…. plain and simple, their QB executes … ours doesn’t. Even when our D puts up a pretty impressive play. TRB

  32. mex bronco says:

if we lose ur 2 next games ortons out

  33. killerkod says:

Man, I’m still sick to my stomach over this game. It’s been bugging me a lot and I think I’m even more bitter about it this morning after sleeping on it.

Again, another team tries every way possible to hand us over a W and we say, “nah, that’s okay, try all you want and we’ll still find a way to F&%K it all up and lose.”

And we didn’t screw it up cause of penalties…………only one on the game………….which was a positive I guess but almost forgotten due to the loss.

While the D made some great plays, it still frustrates me to watch them do so well on 1st and 2nd downs, force them to 3rd and long, only to give up a big play and the conversion. There seems to be a lack of killer instinct or something.

And Fox…………..oh Fox. You have to give your team a TD lead that late in the game. Then the worst that can happen is they tie and you get the ball back. But no, your ego got in the way and we got stuffed for no points. The playcalling on that whole series was GARBAGE.

We are in for a long day against GB next week.

  34. marshisboss says:

Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than Orton at least he is clutch. Orton’s main problem is his nervousness when the game is on the line he is ok when playing from the front but from behind he sucks

  35. killerkod says:

Yup, Orton is not clutch…………he turtles under the pressure. That’s the one thing that seperates QBs….how they handle pressure situations. I always know when the game is close and on the line……….Orton will certainly find a way to lose it. This was a chance for him to silence his critics somewhat, but instead he just keeps the QQ debate open for another week. And I don’t see it going away anytime soon.

If we’re gonna be losing games like this, then throw in Tebow and give him some experience……………and hey, he might just win some games for us.

On that goalline stand, I could just picture Tebow bootlegging it out and walking into the endzone himself for the score……….but instead we just run it up the middle…………AGAIN!

I’ve been trying to support Orton so far this season, but I just can’t do it anymore. It’s been too painful to watch. Gimme Tebow please!

  36. killerkod says:

I prob made it to the WOS with my pick for this game. I really thought more points would’ve been scored on both sides. UGH!!!

  37. Crazyhorserider says:

Thanks dnarizona I just think all the players deserve some respect for putting themselves on the line every week. The question is who are those 7 QB’s and is a Denver QB amongst them?

It pains me to say it but whilst I respect Orton I believe he cannot control his anxiety and as others have said he loses his capabilities when under pressure. If I were him I would be getting some help from a good hypnotist. It is amazing how they can help some people to stay cool and calm under pressure.

  38. Crazyhorserider says:

A prediction for next week is tough and even if Green Bay are complacent I cannot see much else than a bad loss.

Official score prediction contest week 3 results:

I am going to put aside the let’s not get over excited about the winner this week because of the we lost crap. Two reasons, first if I keep having this approach we might hardly ever get excited about it this year, LOL, second what happened this week is absolutely astonishing, the same guy won for the second week in a row, and not only that he was only one point off ONCE AGAIN!!!! Has NEVER happened! He has now an unbelievable 14 points after only 3 weeks! To put that in perspective, last year casinoroyal19 won the season long competition with 19 points and the year before I won it with a record 21 points, and this blogger has 14 ALREADY! Flabbergasted is what I am. So here we go:

1st place and King of the Castle for the second week in a row:

oldsouthstander 13-17, one point off and earning him 7 points, again! Congrats old buddy and I definitely think you need to buy a lottery ticket, unbelievable!

    2nd place:

thecladybunch 13-19, only 3 total points off and earning 4 points, newcomer and made the best of it, good job.

    3rd place:

collies10 14-21, only 4 total points off and he gets 3 points for that valiant effort.

    4th place:

shaztah 17-21, 7 total points off earning her 2 points, way to pop back up from last week Wall of Shame!

Two way tie for 5th place:

    daddybronc 9-21
UKBroncos 16-24, both 9 total points off earning one point each, and UK makes the second top entry from across the pond this week with collies10, the foreigners are showing off, LOL.

Now the Wall of Shame, my gosh there were 42 bloggers who picked the wrong team to win, I’m starting to believe Denver is being gassed by some kind of orange kool aid chloroform… but of course there is always one who thinks we are going to win by a much wider score than all the others and that my friend is how you earn yourself a spot on our shameful Wall of Shame, LOL. This week the dubious honor goes to:

rcsodak 26-13, having us win by almost two TDs! Poor guy, never seen his handle ever until this prediction and that’s the splash he makes, probably wished he went fishing instead, haha. All in good fun and congrats to all the winners and better luck to all the ones who haven’t earned points yet, including myself but at least this week I picked the correct team to win so I’m getting there!

Score prediction contest now open for the Packers game, good luck everyone!

  40. killerkod says:

congrats to oldsouth………..amazing predictions so far this year!

  41. broncochick1 says:

To the comment above…. If Tebow gets traded in the offseason then we better hope we lose the rest of our games. The reason being is Orton and Quinn are not under contract next year and they would both be crazy not to get out of this ’3 ring Circus’ in Denver. So if Tebow gets traded that would only leave the option of getting a rookie quarterback here in Denver. Currently, there are 3 options in Andrew Luck, Landry from Oklahoma and Matt Barkley from USC. Personally I hate how small Matt Barkley is and ‘yes’ I know how tall Drew Breese is. So in my eyes there are only 2 players in the draft that could start for the Broncos next year who are ready to play on day 1. Unfortunatley, those 2 players are probably top 5 picks meaning that the Broncos must lose a lot of games…. Shouldn’t be too difficult for us.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

3rd Gen, your Cinci game prediction was 23-17, 6 points off, 5th place was only 5 points off. Good try though.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

And Royalty I can put you on the Wall of Shame if you insist, haha.

  44. henryac says:

I watched part of the game yesterday and saw the same things I saw in the earlier games. OLine, running game, passing game, the problem is they have NO heart! It is business as usual on Ofense, no fire, no passion, so they loose the close ones. The Defense is playing with fire and it shows. That comes down to a simple matter of leadership, in football or any other team activity. There is no leadership on the Ofense and it is showing. No matter who is playing what position, his team mates have to believe he has their backs and he can get the job done under any circumstance. Does anyone believe that any player on the Denver Ofense believes that about Orton? Orton does not have to be that good, he has to make his team that good, and that is where he fails!

  45. brian_schneider says:

Tough, physical, and chippy game…but where to start…

Penalties, this was excellent we didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot as much as the Titans but its not always how “many” penalties but “when” the penalty occurs. May’s 15 yarder for a facemask really hurt us. At least we didn’t kill our drives on offense.

Special teams…has Harris ever heard of “breaking down” if he would’ve just broke down he could’ve easily made that tackle on Kern..who by the way was their leading yards per carry leader LOL..I actually thought he was going to score a TD.

Offensive line, we gave Orton time but still need to work on actually “giving” him a pocket and we gotta learn how to run block.

Defense..well my biggest fear came true. We stopped CJ but let Hasselbeck tear us apart. Apparently we like to play zone a lot of the time, that coupled with a lack of pass rush, heck any QB could find the open guy. Miller making another big play for us on defense with the strip/fumble.

I’m not going to bash Orton…to much LOL! I’m not going to excuse his poor play but that last interception was a tipped ball so I can’t blame him…too much. The overthrown ball to Decker…not sure who was at fault but poorly thrown by Orton. I will say this, when you’re running away from the rush…run forward and out of bounds. Don’t be a scared little schoolgirl and run straight for the sideline..and lose a yard. That was a poor play on Orton at least gain a yard..heck half a yard anything..be a man and run forward. Many times he should’ve just taken off and ran for a few yards..a one legged person could gain a couple of yards when Orton could’ve ran for a few. Again..to many 3 and outs. I’m getting really tired of watching Orton and us losing. At least if we’re going to lose lets lose with some style and intensity that Tebow will bring to the team. Don’t give me that locker room BS either, when you lose games it doesn’t matter the locker room is down anyway. Tebow knows how to be a leader and rally the troops.

The call on 4th and goal. Like the decision hate the palycall. We were stuffed 3 times running the ball and yet we run the ball again. They know Orton can’t run, they know he can’t throw it in well either, so they stack against the run and we run right into it. At least use playaction or put Tebow in as a triple threat. Basically do the same thing that the Titans did for use finding Grahm in the endzone. Nice to see hims till going by the way even against us.

I’m really staring to believe that Fox may be a players coach but he doesn’t know anything more about football than any other coach. I’m not saying he’s dumb or anything but his style of play…this “winning now” mentality it isnt’ working. It seems like these results were the reason we fired Shanny.

I didn’t expect us to win this game not because “I’m not a true fan” but because I knew they’d do the same thing they did to the Ravens…and the Ravens have a better D than ours, in my opinion.

I hate to say it but another loss this week to the Packers…so lets say we’ll be 1-3 after this week. When is the soonest possible time to start Tebow without burning a hole in Bowlen’s pocketbook…I think there comes a time to just do it. However I don’t think that time will ever come.

  46. brian_schneider says:

My wife finally caved after this game and said it is “Tebow Time!” haha
It is really funny to me because me wife is a really down to earth women and she has this uncanny ability to seperate her head and heart. Meaning she looks at things logical like myself but she can do it unbiased, a trait I wish I really had more control over. We’re no longer a split household..yayy! LOL

Well i’m glad I didn’t make the wall of shame… But I still am ashamed of not continuing good prediction entries, oh well it happens, what can you do?

Congrats to oldsouthstander wow, top of the heap two weeks in a row. You are off to a really hot start! It’s going to be really hard to catch up, as bay pointed out the record is 21 points. Good for you my friend!

What I can predict is that the blog is going to be chock full of worked up bloggers, and they are well in their rights to question the play-calling at the end, as I have. You gotta take the points, especially when all you got dialed up is a continued failed run game at least try to open up the play book a bit ya think?

Well, I got a full day including doc’s appointment but i’ll be back later. I don’t even want to grade our performance. One thing i’ll tell you is that our next stretch looks bleak to say the least. Thanks again bay for all your hard work, much appreciated as always my friend.

Ownership, Management and Personnel Take Notice! Regardless of how Orton looks on paper, or even in the controlled environment of Dove Valley, you are obviously blind to one thing…….he is a loser. For whatever qualities he possesses as an intelligent, technically correct quarterback, he is unable to win critical football games. Call it clutch, call it whatever you want, the Broncos will never win anything more than a weak AFC west division with Kyle Orton.

On the other hand, you have this guy known as a proven winner on your payroll. His name is Tim Tebow.

Naysayers will tell you that he is an inaccurate passer, too reliant on his scrambling ability, unable to adapt to the “speed” of the NFL, etc. They are idiots. Everywhere Tebow has played, he has won. Is he as technically accurate as Orton on paper, or in the confines of Dove Valley? Probably not. But that doesn’t matter, because he possesses a skill rarely seen among athletes…….he’s an inspiring, motivating leader and he finds ways to win. You can’t analyze all of his attributes on paper. I think you are all too close to the situation to even recognize what the problem is at Dove Valley. You’re so afraid of appearing to cave in to the fans that you fail to recognize that the fans have a better perspective on this situation than you do.

In spite of Orton’s apparent redeeming leadership qualities, you’ve got to step back and look at the morale of your team, your fans, your record with him at the helm, and ultimately the impact on your long-term image. He’s sucking the winning legacy out of the organization.

I’ve been a Broncos fan since I was 4 years old. I was at the welcome home parade after the Dallas Super Bowl loss and even met Lyle Alzado and Craig Morton. I have lived and breathed Denver Broncos football my entire life. However, I am sickened by the direction things have gone. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Broncos, but I’ve never felt this down on the team…..even during the dark years of Dan Reeves when he and Elway were obviously not on the same page.

I wonder if you are throwing Tebow’s acquisition into the same lump as every other boneheaded decision that McDaniels made. You know what, we all wonder what that guy was thinking by getting rid of Hyllis and the others, but maybe he was capable of making one good decision. Just don’t throw the precious baby (Tebow) out with the bathwater (McDaniels).

Shannon Sharpe said something last week that made me wonder if you all are in cahoots. He said that Tebow may get to play this year, but that he doubts he can ever succeed as an NFL quarterback. Furthermore, he said the Broncos would have to redesign the offense around Tebow if they were to commit to him as the starter and that that would leave them vulnerable if anything were ever to happen to Tebow. That is stupid!

That means the Broncos would have an offense unlike anything in the NFL. That means the Broncos would have an advantage over opposing defenses. That means the Broncos would start to win again! All teams are vulnerable if their starting quarterback gets injured…..duh! You don’t plan your offense around your backup quarterback. You plan it around you starters. Shannon Sharpe is a fool.

Unless all of you at Dove Valley are also fools, start Tebow on Sunday, and every Sunday for the rest of the season. All of us out here in fandom know that you’re going to lose some games while he learns. We know he probably suffered more from the lockout than anyone. That’s fine. We also remember how long it took you, Mr. Elway, to learn how to lead our team. Give Tim Tebow the same chance you had and we’ll be behind you 100%. Otherwise, I think I’ll stay home and cheer for a team that actually is trying to win.

I think that it isn’t that Tebow “can’t” adapt to the speed of the NFL & succeed, but rather no one “wants” him to. Everyone says how he “can’t..can’t..can’t.” When they should say “we don’t want him to succeed because that will make us look like idiots.” You know that old adage of “nice guys finish last” well in this case it runs true. Tebow is genuinly a nice guy with talent…and he will finish last before all this is said and done.
