Broncos at Titans: Pregame Blog

October 3rd, 2010 - 9:08am by Gray Caldwell

On an overcast day in Nashville, Tenn., the Broncos are already on the field — most players donning pink cleats and gloves for breast cancer awareness — preparing for a Week 4 battle with the Titans.

Eddie Royal, Perrish Cox, Cassius Vaughn and Syd’Quan Thompson are fielding punts — with a twist. Britton Colquitt isn’t yet on the field, so the players are taking turns throwing the ball high in the air while another prepares to catch it.

Eric Decker is catching passes from Brady Quinn and Dan Gronkowski is running routes with Tim Tebow. A handful of offensive and defensive linemen are stretching in the end zone as more and more players head onto the field.

10:50 a.m. CDT: Just got the inactives for today’s game — Andre’ Goodman, Spencer Larsen, Knowshon Moreno, Wesley Woodyard, Eric Olsen, Chris Clark and Richard Quinn will not suit up for today’s game. Brady Quinn is the third quarterback. Below are some pictures from the field, courtesy of Gabe Hiatt.

10:52 a.m. CDT: Colquitt, Matt Prater and Lonie Paxton are the first Broncos on the field in full uniform — the team will be wearing all white. The inactives for the Titans, by the way, are cornerback Jason McCourty, safety Robert Johnson, linebacker Rennie Curran, tackle Mike Otto, guard Ryan Durand, defensive end Jacob Ford and wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins. Rusty Smith is the third quarterback.

10:55 a.m. CDT: Quick note, courtesy of the PR staff — the Titans are one of Denver’s most uncommon opponents in recent years. In fact, the teams have only met three times in the last 17 years. The Broncos are 2-1 in those meetings, winning the previous two.

11:08 a.m. CDT: There are plenty of Broncos fans in LP Stadium at the moment. Fans are just starting to file in, but as the three Broncos quarterbacks hit the field, there was a loud ovation. Right now, the quarterbacks, kick and punt returners and special teamers are the only Broncos on the field.

11:23 a.m. CDT: Daniel Graham and Jamie Winborn — a former Bronco and current Titan — just greeted each other at midfield. Both teams are stretching on opposite sides of the field at the moment, getting pumped up for the game. Demaryius Thomas is jumping around and giving his teammates fives as he heads to receiver drills.

11:28 a.m. CDT: Syd’Quan Thompson just caught a deep pass — interception, technically? — one-handed while tip-toeing the sideline.

11:39 a.m. CDT: The teams have left the field, and a message is playing on the big screen to support breast cancer awareness — Fergie just delivered the message. Personally, I felt it was fergalicious. I immediately apologize for that joke.

11:47 a.m. CDT: Titans mascot T-Rac just basically zip-lined from the top of the stadium lights to the field. Now the Broncos are running back onto the field, led by Kyle Orton, to a mix of boos and cheers. Good showing by Broncos fans so far today.

11:54 a.m. CDT: The Titans are on the field now, and we’re less than 10 minutes from kickoff. See you in the first half blog.

    GAME DAY!

    LET’S GO….. BRONCOS!!!!!

That being said I’m hearing there already is a 13 mph wind there that they say will affect the game. That’s a serious downside for us since it will favor the running game and hurt the passing game. Oh well, it’s not like we didn’t know at one time or another in this league, specially late in the season in the cold, it’s a must to have a running game you can rely on, it’s just maybe coming up sooner than expected. Hope not because our running game is nowhere ready, even with the O line intact.

Good to see you so spry today Bay. I hope all goes well this morning and afternoon. Hopefully Coach will start Buck and we can get him to do some serious powerhouse running, kinda like last year.

We are who we are, McD did not build us as a running team, just pointing out the obvious because of the wind, sorry, didn’t mean to make anyone feel bad about things, not on game day, this is the moment we all wait for all week, let’s just hope for the best, I’ll have all week to analyze it anyway.

GO…………………….BRONCOS!!!! Take it to the Titans!!!!
