Broncos at Seahawks: Second Half Live Blog

August 22nd, 2009 - 10:08pm by Kyle Sonneman

15:00: Broncos will receive the kick to start the second half. Kenny McKinley bobbles and takes it to the 21.

14:52: Offense takes the field with pretty much the same starting lineup. Kyle Orton hands off to LaMont Jordan to start the drive for a short gain of one-yard. Slip screen to Tony Scheffler on second down, but Scheffler fumbles. Recovered by Seattle to the Denver eight.

14:05: A false start on first down, pushes the Seahawks back. On first down, Mario Haggan looked to have stopped Justin Forsett, but Forsett slipped through for five yards. Seneca Wallace, is in at QB and throws incomplete on second down and then short to Forsett on third down. Fourth down, and Olindo Mare is out for the field goal. Kick is good, and the Seahawks add to their lead, 17-10. — Excuse me, Brandon Coutu kicked the field goal … too many players to keep track of in the preseason.

12:37: Alphonso Smith takes the kickoff to the 25, but their are flags on the field. Jeb Putzier is signaled for holding. Broncos will start at the 15.

12:10: The first down handoff to Peyton Hillis is sniffed out by the Seahawks and a loss of a yard. On second down, Orton throws to Hillis wh can’t hang on. Both Hillis and Jordan were in the area and I think each thought the other was going to make the catch. Third-and-11, Orton in the familiar shotgun, steps up but is being grabbed by the Seahawks and the ball falls incomplete. Fourth down and Britton Colquitt is on to punt. Colquitt has his kicked nearly blocked, or maybe it was tipped, either way it is a 15-yard punt. Official scorer is saying the ball was tipped.

10:57: Wallace shows off his skills as a runner and gets 18-yards and the Seahawks are first-and-goal at the 10.

10:00: A short Forsett run and then a Wallace incompletion and it is third-and-goal. A Bronco is down after the second down play. Looks to be Marcus Thomas.

9:52: Thomas is up with help from the trainers and is able to walk off the field on his own power. Third down, Wallace complete to Cameron Morrah, but Joshua Bell keeps him out of the endzone. Fourth-and-goal, and Wallace connects to Joe Newton for the touchdown. I thought he dropped it.

9:01: PAT is good, Seahawks now pulling away 24-10.

8:56: Broncos take over at the 31, Chris Simms is now at QB along with a bevy of other new faces. INJURY UPDATE – Thomas has an injury to an upper extremity and is questionable to return.

7:30: Darius Walker is in at running back and he has moved the Broncos to near midfield with two runs and a pass reception. First down Broncos at the Seahawks 43 after Simms hits McKinley.

6:45: Matt McChesney is called for holding on first down making it first-and-20. Make it second-and-21 after Walker is stopped for a loss. A short completion to Nate Swift and the team is facing third-and-17. Simms in the gun with Walker to his right … fires a quick pass but it is incomplete. Colquitt is out to punt.

4:50: Seahawks will have the ball at the 12-yard line and good news for the Broncos, Thomas is back on the field.

3:30: The defense holds the Seahawks to a three-and-out and Jon Ryan is out to punt to McKinley. McKinley looks to have fumbled after taking a shot. He did fumble and the Seahawks have recovered. Their ball at the Broncos 37.

2:59: Wallace is pressured on first down, but escapes to gain two-yards. Tony Carter is down on the play and the team’s training staff is out to look at the undrafted rookie from Florida State.

2:51: Carter is helped off the field and favoring his ankle. The Broncos hold Forsett to a short gain bringing up third-and-five. Wallace finds Jordan Kent, but Bell breaks it up and almost gets the pick. Fourth down. Brandon Coutu is on for the 52-yard field goal which is good. Seahawks 27 – Broncos 10.

1:46: Simms leads the Broncos back on the field at the 25-yard line. An incompletion on first down and an eight-yard run by Walker gives the Broncos third-and-two. Simms fakes the handoff to Walker and rolls to find Jeb Putzier for the first down.

0:20: Walker gains seven on the final play of the third quarter.

0:00: After three quarters, Seahawks 27 – Broncos 10.

START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER-

15:00: Walker is stopped for a short gain on second down. On third down, Simms hits McKinley for the first down and then the Seahawks are whistled for a personal foul, after going after Simms low. First-and-ten at the Seahawks 23. INJURY UPDATE — Alphonso Smith and Tony Carter lower extremity injuries and are questionable to return.

14:01: The hit seems to have bothered Simms enough to be replaced by Tom Brandstater. Bradstater is complete on his first NFL pass, but a loss of two.

13:00: In the gun on third-and-six, Brandstater can’t find a receiver so he looks to run, but is taken down. They are calling it a zero-yard sack. But wait, he couldn’t find anyone because the defense was holding. First down at the 19 for the Broncos.

12:00: A short run and a short pass and it is third-and-five at the nine. Brandstater looks but can’t find anyone and is sacked by Nick Reed. Colquitt is out for the 39-yard field goal attempt. It is good, Seahawks 27 – Broncos 13.

10:28: A nice return by Deon Butler and the Seahawks will start at their 41. INJURY UPDATE — Chris Simms has a lower extremity injury and is questionable. Mike Teel is now in at QB for the Seahawks.

10:20: Looks like Devin Moore may have fumbled for the Seahawks… but the referee Tony Corrente says he was down. Third-and-six and the Broncos have held Moore short. Ryan is back out to punt and the kick goes through the endzone for the touchback.

8:22: Brandstater is hit hard by Reed and sacked on first down, loss of five yards. Brandstater fumbled on the hit, but fell on the ball. On second down, Marcus Thomas – the running back – is held for no gain. Third-and-15, Brandstater is in the gun and hands it to Walker for a short gain of maybe four yards. Holding is also called on Mitch Erickson, but the penalty is declined. A Seahawk is down and being looked at by the training staff.

6:50: Brett Kern belts out a 61-yard punt that is returned 10 yards to the Seahawks 29.

6:45: A pass and a short run and the Seahawks have a first down at the 40.

5:37: Broncos have forced the Seahawks into a fourth down and Ryan is back out to punt. Swift deep for the Broncos. Swift brings the ball to about the 29.

4:33: A long run Marcus Thigpen is nullified by a holding call on Clint Oldenburg. First-and-20.

3:50: Third-and-18, Brandstater’s pass is behind C.J. Jones and the Broncos are punting. Colquitt is back to kick and the coverage team stops the Seahawks at their 41.

3:00: Another three-and-out for the Seahawks as Teel tries deep for Mike Hass. David Bruton had the coverage and Teel was pressured heavily by Everette Pedescleaux.

1:58: Following the two-minute warning, the Broncos face a second-and-six at the 14 and Brandstater is sacked by Michael Bennett. Nine-yard loss, third-and-15. Walker gets the handoff and gets nine yards.

0:00 That will do it from Seattle, the Broncos fall to the Seahawks 27-13.

i agree, plus i like people like Brandon Lloyd =-D he could be a powerfull back up. Even KENNY M!!! bwhahaha i said it.

  2. BucknBronco says:

I think the Team looks fine and they’ll just get better. Although there’s still areas to improve on, they’re looking good. The offense is moving the ball more consistently than it did last year, and the defense has shown that it’s more aggressive. I can’t wait until Moreno and Dawkins are back out there.

    Go Broncos!

  3. Dynamicdave says:

Evo_Tom, if you don’t feel that Orton is the answer and that Denver’s season is OVER before it’s even started, then I question your knowledge of football? Sorry, bro, but anyone who judges a team by what happens in PRESEASON is reacting off of pure emotion and not logic. You missed the “big picture.” Also, your man crush for Cutler and your hatred of McD has clouded your judgement. Tom Brady had time to learn the O at NE. He sat for a full year behind Bledsoe when he 1st came to NE. He had a chance to learn. Orton is learning “trial by fire.” You blame only the D last year for the 3 losses? What games were you watching? Cutler was throwing INT’s and incomplete passes in the red zone. Guess you missed those plays? RED ZONE! I will be looking for your posts in the regular season so that I can razz you about your prediction. Hey, if I’m wrong I’ll freely admit it and whip out the plate of crow. But I would rather be positive and have them have to prove me wrong, then be negative before a down is played in regular season and be proved wrong. If you enjoy being negative and obviously biased, because of your man crush, fine. I’ll pass that plate of crow, reserved for me, over to you.

  4. bkl274957 says:

Wondering how important winning against chicago next week is? I know it’s only pre-season but I saw a couple post about team chemistry and I agree it’s what is most important right now and nothing brings a team together more than a victory even if it is just the pre-season. What do you guys think?

  5. Dynamicdave says:

Evo_Tom, you say to throw Brandon into the NE team to play with Brady and watch him get sic numbers? How, if he can’t/won’t learn the playbook here, how is he going to learn it there? He can’t/won’t learn it here because I feel he is sulking like a petulant child. Reminds me of Cutler in some ways. He keeps in touch with Jay, so it makes me think that Cutler is whispering into his ear like Wormtongue. “He lies, great King.”

bk274957, I think it will have more meaning because this will be the test run for the regular season. You won’t see them do everything, that will be saved for regular season. I feel being at home should be a big advantage. The 12th man thing. The fans need to get into Cutlers head.

  6. bronco-blaze says:

i think for ego purposes a win is important. However, even though i hope we win next week, all i really want is to see more improvement from our players. 1st, 2and, and third. Hopefully i see improvment from Tom B., and see how our 1st string fairs against the bears defense. next week is evaluation.

  7. bkl274957 says:

Who do you guys think is on the bubble to get cut next week?

  8. Dynamicdave says:

Stanley Bryant, C.J. Jones, D.J. Johnson, Braxton Kelly, Rashod Moulton, Jeb Putzier, Travis Shelton, Matthew Willis.

  9. Broncofan387 says:

U guys really need to grow up!!! I am getting sick of people treating this bears game like a superbowl. I mean does it really matter if we beat the bears in a preseason game? I wouldn’t even care if we lost all of our preseson games. All I would like to see is improvement whether we win or lose these meaningless games. I am glad to say I have seen improvemnt. I am even growing fond of Orton. He isn’t the best, but he is improving.
U guys should having a man crush on Cutler, he is on another team, lets just move on and focus on our team. Some of u guys r not representing our broncos very well. Its not enough u guys wish Cutler would have a bad year, but u guys are also hoping he gets injured. I am beginning to get shamed of u guys, have some sportsmanship.

  10. Dynamicdave says:

Broncofan387, hey, we can “hate” on Cutler all we want. Bears too. Maybe you don’t recall that the worst they do, the better our draft choice next year? So please try to refrain from telling us to “grow up.” There is a difference between “hating Cutler” and wishing him a sorry season for the benefit of our team in the draft. And the Bears game IS a big game because it will be a litmus test for the regular season. The 1st string will play the most they have ever played. It is very important. So telling us that we’re not “representing our team very well” is totally uncalled for. I feel I represent the team, as a fan, very well. Better then some. But if you want to wish Cutler and the Bears well, by all means do so. Just keep in mind that you are then, indirectly, without realizing it, wishing the Broncos a bad draft choice. We will “move on,” as you put it, when this season is behind us and the draft choice is in front of us.

  11. Dynamicdave says:

Meant the “worse” they do, not “worst.”

  12. bkl274957 says:

Dynamicdave, like your choices for cuts. Glad I did not see Marcus Thomas and Tim Crowder. I know we need to improve our defense but I think Thomas has been solid his first two years and Crowder has made some big plays also and they are both young. It does not look like Mcdaniels is giving them much of a chance and that kinda worries me. It’s like is he more concerned with bringing in all new guys that he can call his guys or will the hold overs from last year get a fair shake ? I see improvement with the 3-4 scheme and more pressure and that should create more turnovers but I think Thomas and Crowder can bring the pressure. This is my problem with Mcdaniels, is he just making changes for change. I hated seeing Selvin Young and Ryan Torain go and I guess one could argue the health issue but Buckhalter and Jordan have both had histories of injuries and they are both 31, can Mcdaniels honestly say Buck and Jordan give the Broncos better play down the road more so than the younger Young and Torain, I don’t think so. That’s a down grade at that position IMO. The Broncos had the 2nd rated offense in the NFL last year does Mcdaniels need to tear it apart, NO! The offensive line is still in tact and is still awesome so thats a positive but if Mcdaniels just keeps cutting guys from the old regime that doesn’t bode well for team chemistry. Not blaming one side or the other for the Cutler fiasco, there is enough blame to go around on both sides on that one but if it keeps going with Young, Torain, maybe Marshall, all young guys headed into their prime and add Cutler to that group is Mcdaniels making improvements or just change. I don’t think Buckhalter, Jordan, Gaffney, and Orton are truelly upgrades and especially if you look 2 or 3 years down the road. Not meaning to bash on Orton I think he will do great but he is just one piece of the puzzle and unfortunately since Mcdaniels arrived so many pieces from the NFL’s 2nd ranked offense have dissappeared and were still searching for others. And back to Thomas and Crowder, will they suffer the same fate as some other young talented Broncos that just weren’t Mcdaniels guys. Sorry to ramble but I’ve been a Broncos fan for over 30 years and I can’t remember an off season like this one. I’ll always hope for the best, this is always been a class organization but we need to see results even if it is just preseason, the drama needs to end.

  13. Dynamicdave says:

Selvin failed his physical so was cut. Plus, he struggled last year. Fell down when he was barely touched. Torain still had me scratching my head. Maybe he felt with all his past injuries and now a strained PCL, it was enough? Cut his losses. Jordon looked good. Bucky and Jordan bring leadership. The RB’s didn’t have that. We still have Hillis and McD loves him. Walker looked good but Marcus Thomas (RB) may not stick. Gaffney is doing very well. Royal has stepped up his game. Unlike Marshall, he is picking up the O very quickly. But he did the same last year. He is a very bright young man. McD kept Stokley. McKinley will be good, but he needs to secure the ball batter. Mental errors. McD kept the TE’s. The D kept some players but he brought in others to compete with them and they have outplayed last years players. Except for Champ, DJ, Doom. He also gave Peterson a chance to start, which Shanny never did and he is really shining. I like the dorection of the team. People are just upset over the Shanny firing and Cutler trade by Bowlen. They blame McD for the trade, but Bowlen pulled the trigger. McD was willing to work through his blunder with Cassel. Jay wanted no part of it. Bye, bye. Marshall is not pulling his weight and is handling everything poorly. Pretty soon, he may also be saying goodbye. It’s really murky as to how the situation will turn out, but it will be coming to a head, shortly.

  14. Dynamicdave says:

Meant “direction” not “dorection.” DOH! I even hit spell check and it didn’t pick it up? Weird?

  15. Dynamicdave says:

Well, I’m off to bed. Need to rest. Running a temp. Slept off and on, all day.

  16. Broncofan387 says:

It is so funny dynamic, u r defending McD? This guy hasn’t proved anything. I don’t like his attitude, he thinks he is the hot stuff in the nfl right now. Another prima donna if u ask me, funny thing is he doesn’t play on the field. Belichik is a great coach even tho he looks like a homeless person during the games. McD was just a under study. Look at weis, crenel, and mangini too name a few. They thought it would be so easy to be the head coach, they don’t look so good do they?

My thing is McD is not humble, u can tell by the way he speaks. Being confident is great but this guy is arrogant. I really do hope he is a offensive genius for his sakes.

As always respect is earned not just handed to people like a participation ribbon.

  17. Dynamicdave says:

Like any coach that has ever coached the game, it has to start somewhere. He has earned respect by the simple fact of his resume. Whether he succeeds as a HC is still to be determined. You are defending Cutler? That’s your prerogative and your reasons are simply your opinion and views on it, same as mine. Doesn’t make them right or wrong, simply opinions. It’s my opinion that no matter how well McD does, you will have him in your headlights. That, to me, is being unreasonable. If he fails then fine, Denver will replace him and try again. But, hey, Nolan failed as a HC in Seattle. Does that mean he deserves no respect? He had respect BEFORE he was a HC. McD had respect BEFORE he was a HC. You are simply still upset over the Cutler trade and refuse to move on. Again, that is your right to feel however you feel. Just don’t expect others to agree. I would rather believe in the “good ship lollipop” than the “good ship Titanic.” He’s not arrogant, he is decisive and sure of what he wants to do. His career/future is on the line, so he has a right to do things his way. When I opened my martial arts studio, I did things MY way. The way my instructor taught me. McD is no different. He is running a tight ship. Something Shanny didn’t do. He wanted it his way, sure, but refused to relinquish the GM duties or get rid of Slowick. Now THAT was arrogance. Shanny refused to take any blame for the things going bad. And I reiterate, I do want Cutler to have a bad game and the Bears to stink it up this year. After this season, I don’t care what they do. But the worse he does, the more it will affect his game and mentality for future games. I want to see Denver get a great draft pick. Now, I don’t know who it was who wished him injury? I know it wasn’t me. I wish injury upon no player, ever. I wouldn’t mind seeing him get sacked, his bell rung and grass in his helmet, though. I mean, this IS a contact sport. But I could tell by your comment that some of what you said was directed at me, so pardon me if I take personal offense by your telling me and others to “grow up?” Most of us aren’t treating the game as a SB, but there is importance in this game. Most starters will be playing 3/4 or more. Hopefully we’ll get to see Dawkins and Moreno in the mix. It’s our 1st home game. Preseason or not, it’s important to respond with a win at home. The fact that it’s the Bears with Jay Cutler makes it just that much more interesting and exciting. So, again, please forgive us for finding “importance” in this game. It may not count as a regular season win, but it has a mental tattoo towards the players and the fans. As for the Bears, confidence builds success, success builds wins, wins build lower draft picks for Denver. I wish no success for the Bears.

the baby is coming back this week if anyone’s at the game while he’s on the sideline I beg any of you to throw some beer at him. PLEASE!!!

  19. cutlersucks8 says:

DD it was me and ellis mate who wished an injury on cutler I said a broken leg, just out for the season get a high draft pick and next year he can do whatever he wants

  20. Marshallman-15 says:

I think it’s actually really funny how Cutler needs to get hurt for us to be happy. We could go 0-16, but if Cutler gets injured, It’ll be worth it. lol

  21. texark-fan says:

this bull about cutler and mac is going to go on all week and even next week. and even the next week, so for those of you with bad memories cutless asked for a trade BEFORE mac was hierd. and if you think about it mac did NOT stab jay in the back, or lie.It was jay that stabbed mac. mac said he came here b/c of jay. then jay said AGAIN i want out. that is when the first knife was plunged, into macs back! but mac stood by him right to the end. and PAT BOWLEN is the one that gave him the ultimatium (sp), “CALL ME”, what happened 2 days later????? but some people want to forget these things and just put the blame on the ‘new guy’.
now almost all the same people are doing this to the BM (and that is what he is, a BM) and mac. the coach of this team is not the GM. unlike shanny the GM is in control of the contracts. now to set things right. first BM wants out or more money, whatever, while he still has his court date to come, then he plays the hurt card, then he plays the ‘i am to stupid to learn the playbook’ card. while all this time he wants out or more money. now the ‘little PR’ thing, do you even watch a interview after the game, any game football, baseball, ect. the answers are all the same. this goes back to what i have said before, look into that ELLIS guy. the DP said he was instrimential is getting rid of cutler. so BM is going around rubbing the GM and the HC the wrong way. then comes his court date and this is when he should have played his cards and he would have gotten a big contract.
but it is to late now BM. any time a coach leaves a STAR player at home it is telling him ‘YOU HAVE REALLY PIS__D ME OFF’ it is not macs job to learn the playbook, h3ll he wrote it! the only reason BM is still there is b/c the haedcoach wants him on the team, even if he is mad at him. and that is b/c mac has proven that he is a ‘what is best for the team’, ‘put the best out on the field’ and all the other things like that.
not that the mac haters will understand this post but i just had to do it anyway.

  22. Dynamicdave says:

Guys, never wish injury on another player. I don’t care if it’s even a Raiders player. Never a serious injury. It’s just wrong. These players play a game to entertain us (and get paid handsomely for it) and wishing injury is becoming like a Raiders fan in mentality. We are better then that. Set your standards and your pride higher than that. Be the bigger person. Wish him to be sacked and even get his bell rung enough to cause him to make bad decisions on the field, but never wish harm upon another human being (unless it’s the Taliban). Throwing beer on him is wrong, as well. That’s Raider mentality talk. We are Broncos fans. We need to show a little class. If I had been a fan in the audience who would have seen the idiot who threw the batteries (hit our own player in the eye socket bone) or throwing snowballs onto the field, I would have had security throw their low life bodies out of the stadium. I have 0 tolerance to juvenile antics.

texark-fan, vent away, ha, ha. Some people read the posts and miss the sentences that matter (selective reading, I suppose). But I’m trying real hard to be civil to them and respect peoples opnions. I just don’t like to get personal about it. I thought your post was for the most part, dead on. People need to understand that he won’t be the one who makes the final decision about the future of BM, Bowlen and Xanders will. Brandon, himself will. I would bet he would get suspended by the team before they trade him, though. I just hope he pulls it together before it gets to that point, though. I two weeks, he could have learned enough of the book to get SOME playtime in. He says he hasn’t. I say he won’t. Pull it together Brandon. Denver fans would much nore prefer to have your talent on the field. Denver fans would prefer to see you be a productive member of society and see you get that money but it 1st starts with you. I know, some of you say that he doesn’t read this stuff, but I counter with “how do you know he doesn’t?” He “Twitters” for God’s sake (which was to the Denver fans, I might add), and other Broncos write articles for the DB site, so is it sooo far fetched to think that other Broncos might actually read it? Get a fans perspective? Anything is possible.

  23. vraptor567 says:

I was glad to see Orton step up his game, it gives me hope for the season. Like most folks I was not impressed with Cutler/Orton trade but it is what it is, and this is still our team so I am behind them 100%. Lots of interest in the Broncos/Bears game coming up, not often do you see 2 teams swap QB’s and face off and this trade was a very big deal 4 us Broncos fans so it should be very interesting. In the discussion of McD vs Shanahan we all liked Mike but the reality was his playbook was WAY 2 predictable and our opponents were just picking us off so a change was needed, hopefully McD can pull it off. I just hope things settle down a bit, teams in turmoil rarely have winning seasons and with 47 new faces it is not surprising that we are being written off for the season. The good news is: as an underdog we have a good opportunity to shake things up and kick some butt, so it promises to be a very interesting season.
    GO BRONCOS

  24. Donkeysfan731 says:

Its really easy to point and assume that McD will fall flat on his face because of previous coaches that came from the Belichick(spell check)tree of coaches. But if you look at all the other i.e, Mangenious, Romeo and Chuck in N.D. but none of the aforementioned have the experience that McD has. Look up McD’s bio his dad was a head coach and would not let McD go to practice which was Josh’s only love as a child if his grades were not good and the chores were done. McD has been brought up by head coaches since he was like 7 years of age. He knows what its like to be the goat and lose a game, he was the starting QB and K at a dominant Texas High School and lost the championship game by driving the offense down the field and put them in position to win with a FG. He missed the FG, but the resolve of his character was brilliant in the lockeroom post game he stood in front of his team and took the blame for the entire loss. That shows that he is a leader. I am glad Cutler is gone, I will be glad to see Marshall gone too. The Patriots have been a dynasty over the past ten years, why? Because its all about the team not about individuals. Those two players were all about individual stats and doing well for themselves they could care less about the team. GOOD RIDDANCE!!!! You go McD, Orton, and all the other present Broncos. I am behind you 100% win or lose, because…….I AM A BRONCO FAN, I AM THE THUNDER, I AM BRONCOS COUNTRY!!!!!

    Pleae read:

No matter how many times we do this people love closing a book after the table of contents was the only thing read…..

We have a FUN, YOUNG, EXCITING NEW TEAM! one with promise and enthusiasm.

It’s not boring, stagnet, predictable. Let’s let the flow of the game happen. How you going to judge people on “clips”?

Did it ever occur to any of us that a coaching staff puts portions of offenses and defenses in? Not all of it. They’re building towards something right?

What is the true definition of “Get into the flow of the game” or “We’ve got rythm now” Can that be achieved in 1 1/2 QTR’s? or even a 1/2 quarter?

Our Bronco team will never resemble that of the 98′ team or the teams that embodied the defensive warriors of the past. However, it’s a new day in Denver. Maybe uncertain, but it’s here!

Lastly, I thought some of you would enjoy this story:

Today was the first day of school for my 6 year old son Jadyn. I got to tell you, out here in Illinois it is very, very odd to see such a cute kid of course with a big o’l Denver Broncos book bag.

While waiting to go into the building the teachers were busy walking up and down their lines meeting the new children they would be teachingthe year. Jadyn’s teacher was busy asking some about their summer and others about their new clothes. As she approached Jadyn she asked him what was his dominant hand. Jadyn replied:

    “I’m right handed”

His teacher faked a smile and said:

“I bet you get that from your mom”

As my wife began to smile, Jadyn quickly hit the teacher with:

“Nope it’s from my dad, because the Bronco face to the right!”

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

Yes, I have a tear in my eye as I type this because it shows the pure innocence of being such a young fan!

Preseason doesn’t matter to Jadyn so it doesn’t matter to me!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  26. Donkeysfan731 says:

Awesome story broncfall, tell your kid that he is the future of Broncos Country and for that I have a reason to smile today. Thanks, Jadyn don’t lose hope little fella you too will be able to see the promise land of a Super Bowl win, just give it some time.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!

  27. Dynamicdave says:

Cute story. The next Bronco offensive tackle. My kid grew up a Bronco fan. Still watches when he can. Preseason matters in the fact that this is a new team and it’s important to learn the system. Winning will build confidence. A lot of new faces. A lot of young faces. They could easily let these preseason losses get in their heads. Hopefully, the vets will keep that from happening. Beating Chicago at our 1st home game, albeit, only the preseason, is important. The dominance at home needs to be rekindled.

Love how they can’t even keep their stories straight from their other stories!!!
i.e. They say this is a good start for Orton after last week his first 3 posessions were 3 interceptions and he was boo’d at home.
Idiots, he was boo’d in training camp, his 3 interceptions were AT SAN FRAN!!!
DD, how do people this dumb get in positions to make more dollars than SENSE!??

They sell themselves and by the time the company realizes their error, it’s too late. Some are smart enough to cut their losses at the end of the year and some are stupid enough to keep them, like Jamie Dukes, for instance. Now-a-days, most companies are looking for announcers and hosts who will dig up the dirty laundry. It’s what sells the news. Speaks volumes about the trolls who listen to it and feed off it. It explains the trolls you see at the DP, blogging. Sad state of affairs for the new generation of fans. Bad direction that sports media is heading and for the fans that back it and enjoy that type of garbage.

Jamie Dukes is a fat joke I know I’ve said this before but the way he talks about the broncos just makes me want to attack the tv. DD I guess you’re right about throwing beer I just hate that guy so much for what he did to me and all bronco fans. Throwing beer at people is raider mentality, Heckle him instead, nothing wrong with that, right?

    DD,

I agree with you in regards to your post about preseason. I tend to put a little more into it than most as well. I do however, want to make a clear statement that I don’t believe that preseason is indicitive to the way a season will play out.

However, I believe you can get “clips” of progress, stagniticity, or even steps backwards.

The tough part comes in trying to “fill in” the parts that starters are out, starters are pulled, schemes are changed etc. It’s the “What would have happened if…” theories.

In my opinion, I’ve see, much more good than bad. It is my hope that the team continues to take steps forward. Then, as we approach week1 of the regular season start to see consistent execution. Will it be flawless? Probably not, but I do believe that these Broncos centered around veterans will learn to protect and defend each other.

End result, a very productive season.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

See dynamic I am glad we can agree on never wishing a player to get injured. If its the opposing team qb, yea I hope he gets sacked and gets his bell rung. As for Nolan I do respect him even tho he didn’t have success as the 49ers hc, he carried himself very well. He realized even tho he is a good coach he could only do so much with the crappy players he had.

McD is a different situation, he has plenty of pro-bowl caliber players on both sides of football. He is expected to do great. From this “swagger” he carries with him he better.

As for preseason games go…. it does not matter who wins or loses. Long as I see improvement and execution I am happy. Look at the colts and the lions and u know what I mean. Like I said I am even growing fond of Orton.

    Texark fan

Mcd didn’t stab Cutler in the back? Lets face McD didn’t come to Denver because of cutler. During that time Cutler was still upset Shanahan was let go but he was going along with the program. Then McD brought in simms and gave him more money than Cutler. That wasn’t enough so he tried to bring in Cassel behind Cutler’s back. If I was Cutler I would have asked for a trade as well. It seems like it was a trust issue to me.
Sure Cutler did little bit of whining but don’t try to deface the man with these like talking about how Cutler stabbed McD in the back.

Anyway I look forward to the bears game. I look forward to seeing Broncos continue to improve.

Has anyone heard how Moreno is progressing?

  34. texark-fan says:

broncofan387, you are right mac said ‘ONE OF THE REASONS i took the job was becouse of cutler’ cutler was not going along with the program, he started all kinds of bull. he even brought in his agent when the meeting was for him and mac to talk about the playbook. WHY? Thats the part about more money, new contract, that is not going along with the program. cutler is the one who would not return phone calls and then even left town. then only came back to put his house one the market. after that he went to dove valley and acted all ‘I didnot do nothing wrong.”
bring in cassel behind cutlers back…. who is in charge of getting players??? i thought it was the HC. and what if he did, that did not mean that cutler was out the door. as you can see mac brings in alot of players who know the system. the 49ers traded for young while montana was still in his prime. having two good QB is not a crime. you said if you were cutler you would have asked for a trade also. if you were a carpenter and the boss hired another one would you have walked off the job?? odds are against it, you would have welcomed the help. if the other carpenter were better than you, you could have laerned from him.

i too look forward to seeing the team continue to improve.

Ok were u a sleep during all this was going on texark fan?

If we would have gotten Cassel that trade would have involed Cutler. Another u r telling me the interest in Cassel didn’t have anything to do with McD? All this stuff about phone calls happened after the trade talks, which Mr. B says he has phone records but no one has seen them, so I don’t exactly know what happen there.

I am not defending Cutler but don’t make up stories about him, u sound like espn and nfl network media. There’s plenty of factual stuff u can rag on him about, I really don’t see the point because his on a another team. U guys just keep talking about Marshall and Cutler like a broken record. I do have some respect for these guys because they played their hearts out when they were wearing the Broncos uniform.

  36. texark-fan says:

i wasn’t going to respond to your comments but they began to eat on me. what trade? That was only what ESPN and nfl net wanted to come up with, denver never said anything. yes the intrest in cassel was all from mac. so what? the phone calls not being answered were from almost the start of it.

you are defending cutler. and yes they are/were good players for denver and you should repect then. i still respect ken stabler.

the reason for posting the first blog was to avoid just what we are doing, not to have anyone (me included) stress out. so i am going to move on.

  37. Dynamicdave says:

cutlersucks8, yeah, throwing beer is alcohol abuse. Ha, ha.
