We escaped Denver before the snow really set in — and now it’s about a 40-degree difference here in sunny Washington, D.C.
Speaking of weather, here’s the official weather report for today’s game against the Redskins:
Broncos at Redskins Weather Report
11:29 a.m. EST: Kyle Sonneman has just headed down to the field to snag some pictures of warmups from Chris Gentilviso. Not too many Broncos on the field at the moment — a few have gone back into the locker room — but Eddie Royal is on the field running routes, and David Bruton and Darcel McBath are throwing the ball back and forth.
Brandon Marshall is pacing the field listening to music, and D.J. Williams is getting loose as well.
11:38 a.m. EST: Just got the inactives for the Broncos — Chris Baker, Josh Barrett, Ryan Harris, Peyton Hillis, Brandon Lloyd, Ryan McBean and Seth Olsen won’t suit up for today’s game. Tom Brandstater is inactive as the third quarterback.
For the Redskins, CB Kevin Barnes, TE Chris Cooley, LB Robert Henson, DT Anthony Montgomery, RB Clinton Portis, FB Eddie Williams, T Mike Williams and DE Renaldo Wynn are inactive.
11:46 a.m. EST: The music during pregame warmups has been filled with songs that you wouldn’t typically think would get players pumped up before a football game. Just heard “Clocks” by Coldplay and “Beautiful Day” by U2 back to back. Granted, I love those songs, and I just heard “My Hero” by Foo Fighters, as well — another personal favorite — but not your typical warm-up fare.
11:49 a.m. EST: Just got the pictures from Chris Gentilviso…getting ready to post them in a few minutes.

12:24 p.m. EST: The Broncos are all on the field in their white jerseys and white pants — the Redskins are wearing their maroon jerseys with white pants.
With about 30 minutes until kickoff, the stands are still empty for the most part, but fans are making their way in. Just saw the Hogettes.
12:25 p.m. EST: Interesting — the guy walking up and down the aisles selling beer and peanuts is wearing a brown and yellow vertically striped shirt. I seriously thought it was an old-school Broncos fan for a minute.
12:38 p.m. EST: The bizarre pregame playlist continues — “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. I’m not saying I’m not jamming out to the music, but it’s just a little off. We’re about 20 minutes from kickoff now and the stadium is fairly empty as the Redskins marching band is lined up on the sideline.
12:49 p.m. EST: Matt Prater and Mitch Berger are on the field working on field goals and punts, respectively, as the Redskins marching band continues to play. Creeping up on kickoff now.
12:52 p.m. EST: Here come the Broncos onto the field, met with some boos from the crowd that has arrived — still a whole lot of empty seats at FedEx Field.
12:56 p.m. EST: The Redskins are introducing their defense, and now it’s time for the National Anthem. See you in the first half live blog.

Lets go Broncos! Time to get the big mo on our side, head back home and beat the chargers
Who is starting place of Mcbean hopfully they give Baker a chance i was not impressed with Smith at all last week.
I see i just got the answer to my own question i hope Thomas starts then at LE or Holiday
Not yet the week for Hillis, I see…
Wow, that’s alot of inactives. Hope the Broncos can beat the ‘Skins shorthanded today!
I can’t help but wonder to myself why Hillis isn’t being used. I thought for certain that he was an asset up the middle and would have thought that he would be even more of an asset because of his ability to catch the ball in the passing game. Here’s a question…. are we not going downfield with the pass because of the play calling, or because of Orton? If it’s Orton, when do we give Simms a chance?
Scttyclln i think its a combination of both Mcdaniels knows Orton can not throw deep and when he calls a play with a deep ball orton will almost certainly checkdown to the underneath route or throw it to the running back.
Once again we’re picked as the underdog in this game. But I feel really confident about are chances, and I think Moreno is going to have a huge game. I also think we’re going to see some more of Hillis as well.
I think McD has learned a valuable lesson after experiencing two back to back losses. IMO, McD poured every ounce of energy and time preparing for the Patriots. And when the momentum of that win carried over into SD I believe that the team exuberated that same confidence over into Baltimore and it sort of back fired on us.
I imagine McD and the coaches have taken a few steps backwards and have gone back to what was working in the begining. We don’t need just a win, we need a win with an exclamation point at the end of this game!
lol navy fan.
45 players suit up every sunday.
rocky, we are 4 point favorites. I know because I bet on it covering -4
#@*! Still no Hillis?? When I heard about his grandmother’s passing, I assumed that that was why he was inactive last week. Could that family turmoil still have impacted him enough that he wasn’t ready to impliment this week’s game plan? I hate to see him missing what needs to be a big game for our rushing attack. McDaniels said all the right things about Hillis’ many talents over the summer – I was reassured at the time that McD appreciated what he had in him then. Good wishes to Peyton through this rough period.
Hopefully Buckhalter will get the majority of work at RB today. Moreno has good talent, but he doesn’t appear to be ready to be a complete, #1 RB in this league. C-Buck’s great vision and burst are, IMHO, the best bet to get our running game back on track.
I know it’s too late for the unofficial official picks contest or whatever, but I see this as a 13-6 win for Denver, with Washington’s pass defense being strong enough to keep the Broncos offense from getting on a strong roll. If the pass protection and play-calling are able to execute well and overcome that D, possibly 20-6.
IA, corect (we are 3/3.5 points favorite in Vegas) and Hillis is inactive. Rocky , you’re having a bad start to your day! LOL.
I’m out, gotta go to the sports bar.
LKW, 13-6 is my pick, you bet you’re too late. LOL.
Serious, no picks on game day for the sake of the contest.
There seems to be several players that are not being utilized properly for one reason or another.
The offense really needs to have some consistency so the defense does not stay on the field for the entire game AGAIN.
If they have to do that again this week then we are going to make a crappy team look good yet again.
15thebeast, I agree with that. I really think that we need to go after that deep ball. I just don’t see how we will compete with the good defenses in the playoffs if we don’t fix that now. If we don’t get their safties to drop back and respect the deep throw, we will have eight and nine in the box for the rest of the season
lets see a big day out of moreno and buck!
got a little bit of an idea about the whole mcd and hillis drama. chew on this one… we are starting a 3 game in 11 days stretch here. skins today, chargers next sun, then the giants on turkey day. thats a lot of football in a short amount of time! what if mcd is keeping hillis fresh for these next two games, especially the giants game. just a thought. let me know what you guys think!
Go Broncos
“DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS”
LKW
Exactly my thoughts. Hillis can not still be in the Dog house? I do not get it???? anyway GO BRONCOS
FTR
i hope we can run the ball and pass so we can shut the espn people up
Ahhh , rayjr26, I don’t want to play poker with you, lol. I hope that is the situation. I just don’t think so. I think that game Hillis fumbled the kickoff put a bad taste in Coach’s mouth. Especially after he publicly said he had confidence in Hillis not fumbling. Buckhalter and Moreno each have their talents, but if we are gong to use a power running game, Hillis has to be a steady contributor.
scttyclln… i agree, he MUST be our power back! he showed the ability last year i think we really need to give him that oportunity again!!
wow! could Chris Simms get sacked anymore!
Just like i said!
Making a crappy team look great.
