Q3 15:00: Matt Prater is on to kick off, as the Ravens will receive to start the second half.
Q3 14:46: Lardarius Webb takes the kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown. Steve Hauschka’s extra point is good, and the Ravens now have a 13-0 lead.
RAVENS 13, BRONCOS 0
Q3 14:40: Eddie Royal is tripped up and taken down at the 14-yard line on the ensuing kickoff, and the crowd is chanting “Defense!” as Kyle Orton and the offense are back on the field. Orton rolls right and finds Tony Scheffler for a nine-yard completion to the 23-yard line.
Q3 14:05: Orton is under center on 2nd-and-1, and hands off to Knowshon Moreno, who picks up eight yards and the first down. On the next play, Orton is under center again, fakes a handoff and then fakes an end around before firing a pass downfield toward Brandon Marshall. Marshall leaps and tries to bring in the ball with one hand, as the defender looked to be holding his other arm. A pass interference flag is thrown, and the Broncos have a first down at the Baltimore 30-yard line.
Q3 13:08: Moreno picks up a yard after stiff-arming Terrell Suggs, and the crowd is booing as Orton is in the shotgun on 2nd-and-9. He has lots of time to throw, but the pass is nearly intercepted by Jarret Johnson intended for Scheffler. On 3rd-and-9, Orton drops back and fires for Jabar Gaffney for a first down. It’s a pick-up of 14 yards to the Baltimore 15-yard line.
Q3 12:03: Orton is in the shotgunbefore stepping up in teh pocket and finding Peyton Hillis inside the 10-yard line. Hillis is disappointed he didn’t break a tackle, pounding his fist, but the pick-up of six yards gives the Broncos a 2nd-and-4 at the 9-yard line. Orton is under center and hands off to Moreno. The rookie gets near the first-down marker, but it’s a 3rd-and-1 at the 6-yard line.
Q3 10:50: Orton fakes a hand-off and rolls right, firing a pass toward Daniel Graham that falls incomplete. The offense is still on the field on 4th-and-1, but Denver calls its first timeout of the half.
Q3 10:44: The offense is still on the field on the other side of the timeout. Moreno is in the backfield, and Royal, Gaffney and Marshall are to the left. Orton is under center, and Marshall goes in motion to the right side. Orton’s pass is complete to Marshall near the first-down marker, and a flag is on the field. It’s offsides on Ed Reed — half the distance to the goal and a first down for the Broncos.
Q3 10:25: 1st-and-goal for the Broncos brings a handoff to Moreno, who is brought down after a gain of a yard. Haloti Ngata is hurt on the field.
Q3 10:00: Ngata walks off the field under his own power with a bit of a limp, flanked by trainers. The teams walk back to the line of scrimmage, and the Broncos have a 2nd-and-goal from the 3-yard line. Orton fakes a handoff and fires a pass to Scheffler in the end zone that falls incomplete. Ray Lewis is called for pass interference on the play, however, and since the penalty is in the end zone, the Broncos have a 1st-and-goal on the 1-yard line.
Q3 9:46: Moreno takes the carry on first down and heads right up the middle for the touchdown. Prater’s extra point is good, and the Broncos pull back within a score of the Ravens.
RAVENS 13, BRONCOS 7
Q3 9:41: Welcome back, Spencer Larsen. He lays out Webb at the 18-yard line on the kickoff this time around. Now the Ravens offense is back on the field, and first down brings a sack by Andra Davis. There’s a flag on the play, however — illegal contact by Andre’ Goodman, a five-yard penalty and automatic first down.
Q3 9:33: It’s first down at the 23-yard line for the Ravens. Ray Rice takes the carry and essentially crawls on the ground under some defenders to pick up four yards. On second down, Rice takes another carry and finds space up the middle to the Baltimore 44-yard line. It’s a gain of 17 and a first down.
Q3 8:22: Rice takes yet another carry on first down — a two-yard gain. Second down sees Joe Flacco in the shotgun, and he gets it to Mark Clayton for another first down.
Q3 7:30: Back in a no-huddle offense, Rice gets another carry on first down. It’s a gain of six yards to the Denver 31-yard line. Flacco is in the shotgun and his pass is complete for 10 more yards and another first down. Renaldo Hill was shaken up on the play.
Q3 6:46: Hill is being helped off the field, walking between two trainers. Now the teams are back at the line and the Ravens have a 1st-and-10 at the Denver 21-yard line. Flacco is in the shotgun, but it’s a fumbled snap — however, the Ravens recover the fumble.
Q3 6:22: In the end, it’s a two-yard gain for the Ravens on fumble yardage. On 2nd-and-8, Flacco is again in the shotgun. His pass is complete to Mason for a pick-up of three yards. Third down has Flacco in the shotgun again. He takes the snap and is chased around in the pocket before being nailed by Vonnie Holliday. He gets the pass away and it’s complete to Rice, but it’s short of the first down marker.
Q3 4:55: Hauschka’s 31-yard field goal attempt sails through the uprights, and the Ravens tack on three more points.
RAVENS 16, BRONCOS 7
Q3 4:48: Royal takes the kickoff out to the 22-yard line, where the Denver offense takes over. Buckhalter is in the backfield on first down, and Orton is under center. Buckhalter takes the handoff, but he is brought down near the line of scrimmage for a loss of one.
Q3 4:15: Orton takes the snap in the shotgun and fires to Marshall, but the ball slips through his hands incomplete. That brings up 3rd-and-11 and the M&T Bank Stadium crowd is on its feet. Three receivers are on the field and Orton is in the shotgun. His pass is complete to Buckhalter, but it’s short of the first down — a gain of nine yards.
Q3 3:30: Mitch Berger’s punt flies to the Baltimore 27-yard line — a 43-yard punt. Willis McGahee takes the first-down carry for the Ravens, but he’s brought down for no gain by Elvis Dumervil. On 2nd-and-10, Flacco takes the snap and fakes a hand off to McGahee before turning right back around and dumping off a pass to the running back. McGahee avoids a tackler and gains five yards before being taken down by Ryan McBean.
Q3 1:47: Flacco completes a pass to Kelley Washington for a first down. On the next play, he hands off to Rice, but he’s taken down immediately in the backfield by Mario Haggan. It’s a loss of four yards.
Q3 0:31: Flacco is forced out of the pocket on second down and picks up a yard, setting up 3rd-and-13. He is hit as he throws, but finds a receiver short of the first down marker. There’s a flag on the play — offsides on the Broncos. That makes it 3rd-and-8 at the Denver 48-yard line. Flacco is in the shotgun with Rice to his right — but the clock ticks down to the end of the third quarter.
Q4 15:00: 3rd-and-8 for the Ravens. Flacco takes the snap in the shotgun — but two Broncos jump offsides, and a penalty is called for a neutral zone infraction. Now it’s 3rd-and-3 for the Ravens. This time Flacco is under center and Rice is in the backfield. Washington goes in motion, and Flacco finds Washington for the first down.
Q4 13:40: Robert Ayers took down Rice in the backfield for a loss of two on first down, then Mark Clayton takes an end-around for four yards on second down. On 3rd-and-8, Flacco fires for a touchdown to Mason, increasing the Ravens lead. The extra point is up and in, but there are flags on the play for offsides on the Broncos. The penalty will be assessed on the kickoff.
RAVENS 23, BRONCOS 7
Q4 13:07: Royal takes a knee in the end zone for a touchback. Orton fires downfield on first down, but Domonique Foxworth breaks up the pass intended for Gaffney. On second down, Orton drops back and fires for Gaffney for a first down at the 37-yard line. It’s a 17-yard gain.
Q4 11:40: A two-yard Moreno run on first down sets up 2nd-and-8, and Orton is in the shotgun. He fakes a hand off before dropping back with plenty of time to find Daniel Graham for a short dump-off that turns into a five-yard gain. On 3rd-and-3 at the Denver 44-yard line, Orton takes the snap under center. He drops back and fires for Royal, but he is hit by Ed Reed right as the ball arrives. The pass falls incomplete and Berger is in to punt. The kick flies high and is fair caught at the 25-yard line. It’s a 31-yard punt.
Q4 10:40: Andra Davis takes down Rice for a loss of four on first down. On 2nd-and-14, Davis sacks Flacco — back-to-back big plays by the inside linebacker. That sets up 3rd-and-30 at the Baltimore 15-yard line, and Renaldo Hill is back in the game in the secondary. It’s a screen pass to Rice, and Darrell Reid is right there to take down the running back after a gain of nine yards. The stop forces a punt by Sam Koch.
Q4 8:45: After a 50-yard punt by Koch, Royal is taken down for a loss of two on the return. That sets up the offense on its own 24-yard line. Buckhalter is taken down by Ed Reed for a loss on a first-down screen pass, setting up 2nd-and-15 for the Broncos at the 19-yard line. The crowd is on its feet as Orton is in the shotgun. He tries to find Marshall downfield, but it falls incomplete.
Q4 7:56: Orton is in the shotgun on third down, and is taken down on a blitz by Chris Carr. That makes it 4th-and-25 at the 10-yard line, and the Broncos are forced to punt. Berger is on the field to punt out of his own end zone. He is hit as he punts the ball — but it’s determined to be the five-yard variety rather than a 15-yarder, so it remains fourth down, and Berger will punt again. The punt is returned to the Baltimore 47-yard line.
Q4 6:53: Rice picks up eight yards on first down for the Ravens, who enter Denver territory on the play. Le’Ron McClain takes his first carry of the game and picks up a yard, setting up 3rd-and-1 for the Ravens. Baltimore calls a 30-second timeout, its first of the second half.
Q4 5:39: On 3rd-and-1, Flacco hands off to McClain, who fights his way to the 24-yard line — a 20-yard pickup and a first down.
Q4 3:30: Another big McClain run gives the Ravens a 1st-and-goal at the 6-yard line as the clock continues to run.
Q4 2:30: McBean is shaken up on a play, but he walks off the field under his own power. Baltimore has a 2nd-and-goal from the 4-yard line. D.J. Williams takes down Rice in the backfield, and Denver calls a 30-second timeout — its second of the half.
Q4 2:04: Baltimore has a 3rd-and-goal from the 7-yard line, and Flacco takes the snap in the shotgun before handing off to Rice, who sprints up the middle of the line for a touchdown. Hauschka’s extra point is up and good.
RAVENS 30, BRONCOS 7
Q4 1:54: Royal is taken down at the 20-yard line, and the offense takes back over. Orton’s pass is complete to Moreno for a five-yard gain on first down, followed by a 12-yard completion to Gaffney on second down, as Orton rolled to the left, setting up a first down. Gaffney got out of bounds to stop the clock. On the ensuing first down, Orton took the snap in the shotgun and fired a pass incomplete downfield.
Q4 1:13: Orton is in the shotgun on 2nd-and-10, fakes a handoff to Moreno and fires to Royal, who is hit hard after a gain of three. On 3rd-and-7, it looks like there’s miscommunication and Orton fires an incompletion in Royal’s direction. There’s a flag on the play, however — but it’s picked up as they rule the ball was uncatchable. That brings up fourth down.
Q4 0:33: Orton lines up in the shotgun with Buckhalter to his left on 4th-and-7, and his pass is complete for a first down to Marshall. Denver calls its third and final timeout.
Q4 0:18: Daniel Graham comes down with an Orton pass inside the 30-yard line, and the Broncos rush up to the line. Orton spikes the ball to stop the clock with three seconds to go. Orton shovels a pass off to Buckhalter, and he’s pushed out of bounds after a 10-yard gain to end the game.
It is the Broncos’ first loss of the season, and their record falls to 6-1. Up next — the Pittsburgh Steelers at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Monday Night Football.
The final score: Ravens 30, Broncos 7.

All I’m saying is this. They need to take the handcuffs off of Orton. Training wheels whatever you want to call it. To see their safeties and CB sitting on route. Ed reed was in the box all game. They back up 15 to 20yards. and wait till something come across. Like I said before in the NFL 3 to 5secs is good blocking. They know we were not gonna throw nothing beyond 15 yards. so they sat on it. Now it look like we have no O-line. They got to get him thinking he can make those throws. Rather than telling himself” Don’t go their. You might throw a pick.” If you taking a chance with a one on one coverage and it gets int’d. That’s taking a chance. If you get int’d when your WR is triple covered. That’s stupid.
florio, funny, this is actually a great day for some, can’t be surprised to have them here, certainly knew why they weren’t here after the San Diego game.
i Agree with most of you there nothing to freak out here we lost we kknew it was going to happen. We all know the Ravens are better than there record. Listen this was a must when for them. not saying it wasn’t for us too but you could just see they came ready to play, there a tuff team at home and they showed it. I’m upset at the loss too but i try too think positive after a loss like this. but this may be what the team needed so they can remain focused on the big picture. We are 6-1 if you ask me that is a good position to be in i’m sure there are lots of teams that would like to be where we are. I think when your undefeated it ad extra pressure on the team. I think next week the team will feel good have the home crowed cheering them on to a win
looking over some of the comments,it was stated that we should not (hoist up) the Ravens defense because minnesota put up 38 points against them,Does’nt Minnesota have a pretty good qb not to mention a fairly decent running back. Denver needs to continue to inprove in both of these areas before they can compete with the likes of Baltimore
They need to take the kid gloves off Orton. If they don’t have confidence in him throwing 30yards down field. Then it’s gonna be a long second half of the season. I thought the Ravens DB were gonna get charlie horses from sitting on all our routes. Ed reed played in the box all game. That’s sad and should not be excepted. It’s ok to loose, but the way we lost is embarrassing. Our WR that were running passed 15 to 20yards. They would half a$$ it the rest of the route. I know! I was at the stadium and watch the game live. Their LB back up 5 yards and DB 15yards. Then just sit and wait. You can give any excuse or this is a good loss comment you want. If we don’t fix this. They gonna make this the blue print to beat us. The way the D was playing in the first half. They got tired and started arm tackling. We got punched in the mouth and didn’t respond.
Tough day for the broncos offense. No reason to panic, but we need to be able to stretch the field we can’t be affraid to throw the ball deep. The problem is that Orton doesn’t have a big arm so we need to establish a run game so Orton can work off of play action.
Yes thank you. now that we’re back to football talk, all i am saying is that the weekest part of our team IMO seems to be the falling off of offensive production as VABRONCOGUY stated.
I am adamant about Orton needing to show he can throw the ball deep. Doing so makes everything else easier because the safties and corners are always on edge about being burnt big. The Steelers are going to come out the same way and bum rush our offense and bring pressure and put an 8th guy in the box and see if Orton can beat them with anything long.
I’m not saying Orton can’t do it nor am i saying we’re doomed, I’m simply saying it’s apparent that he has not taken shots down field. I do not remember him completing a pass in the air of over 35 yrds yet. every long play is because of YAC.
He threw one pass semi long today and got a pass interference call on it…see it worked. We have BMarsh, i cant see why not to go deep. They should be doing it a lot and keeping the secondary honest. If they do that We’ll have 100+ yrd rushing games and Orton will be throwing 250+ yrds per game….and we’ll be able to compete with the best in the league.
We’ve added RB and WR depth. The only thing that changed was QB and Offensive scheme so something has to improve because the way i see it the way the lack of scoring is a big problem when u play the big teams.
See you misread what I said. When I mentioned that, teams have a tendency to come back from a bye in one of two ways: dominate like Baltimore did today or come back as a doormat like us. I’m not using it as an excuse, but it messes with their minds. I hate bye weeks for several reasons, one of them being it can halt a good streak like we had going. Even when we were down 10-0 in the first half in a couple of games we were still playing strong & steady. Something changed. It sounds like an excuse, I know but its not. Its just a pattern I’ve noticed with ALL teams over the years. Some come back strong after a bye, some don’t. Whether or not its the bye week that messes with a person, depends on each player if they let that affect their game. One person that lets the bye week mess with their head, can affect how the whole team plays, believe it or not. Simple observation. Its a team sport but one bad seed can ruin everything good going on… but in this case we started off on a bad note and it literally went down hill from there. Only highlight of the game was our lone TD. Woo. Hoo. An excuse would be a player saying over and over that its “my bad” after a streak of bad plays. I’m mad for several reasons, this game being just one of those reasons. I’m absolutely dreading this upcoming weekend. You’re lucky I’m as optimistic as I am right now.
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
That’s right Lil Sis Ash!! O yeah what up Lil Lady, how ya been?
gdingel McD got away from it. When Knowshawn fumbled, he fell off of the game plan till late sec quarter. I was right under the second deck behind the Broncos sideline. When they confirmed the fumble. I seen Buckhalter and Gaffney blow-off Knowshawn. When he was tryna explain. This could have been a worse loss. Their were 4 pick they didn’t catch. On the Ravens sidelines they were laughing. Marshall alligator armed a pass going over the middle. He saw 52 and froze. Nuff said!
Hey Caramel, I’m ticked as you might imagine. Counting down the days till I graduate from college in May. Can’t wait till this upcoming weekend is over. Worst day of my life is coming up. How have you been?
The new weak ling on our D is Goodman. Like I said in the Dallas. When everyone was saying what a win. I said if Romo would have looked to his left. Any of those 2 time in the redzone. they would have tied the game. People said your not a real fan. Bringing all this negative talk. Now people stop tryna pick on Champ. Their thought process was to take out the strongest link on our D to take all our confidence. Now they figured just go at Goodman.
The way this year is flying by May will be here before ya know it. Yeah I know ur tick tick time bomb ticking. Minus this loss things are good on my end.
Broncos 7 – Ravens 30
Anyway, guys, the predictions…. What a disaster!!!
I’d like to give some of you guys some love, but, man, this was uggly.
One guy early in the week wrote a pretty long post saying he didn’t think we would win this one, but he didn’t come up with a score prediction, so I can’t sit here and congratulate him, thank god, but I’ll say that he is the only one who got it kind of right…
Ok, Denwu, you called it, Denver loss.
Out of the 40 other guys who made a score prediction, they are five of them who are about the only ones we can recognized positively here, because they had us winning by the smallest spread, only a three point spread, lot’s of respect for Baltimore, which most of us did not have enough of, obviously, including myself. They are:
BroncoWildKansan 27-24
Iowa-bronco 31-28
Broncos504 16-13
Seeingisbelivin 20-17
Mark Cooper 20-17
Yes, that would be THE Mark Cooper, O lineman for Elway in the eighties. Congrats to these guys.
Most everyone had us winning by larger margins not worth repeating here, but there are a couple picks that cannot be ignored. One displayed a FLAGRANT LACK of respect for the Ravens Offense:
broncofan96 34-3
And the other one displayed WAY TOO MUCH respect for our Offense:
mudrat 38-20
We are going to be kind this week and not award a shame on you award to these two guys, we’re going to give them a break, because we were all so off in our picks this week, we all look like idiots! LOL.
There is always next week, will we have more loss picks? That’s what I’m curious about. I can’t personally get myself to make a loss prediction on my team, my conscience would not allow it. I would feel like a deserter, you know what I mean?
just got back from over seas glad to be back in bronco land have had to rely on family to get me denver news on games today was a day that wakes ya up no matter how the team seemed to down play 6 and 0 anyone that has played sports knows undefeated ya got a tendency to believe ya can’t be beat. To many mistakes the whole team needs to look in the mirror no one person can be singled out, the O the D and special teams, I would give anything to be a fly on the wall bet this week is going to seem like training camp time to re commit themselves this is the best team both players and coaches we have had since 98 Mc D will have a game plan our team will come out P Od pitt is going to see a team that can score and a defense that is going to come to work this room is great fans r the best wish all the best bronco’s forever
Ah well, I think it was prime for us to lose anyway. Jamie Dukes will be right SOMETIMES if he always predicts us to lose.
I think if we can get our O (especially o-line) motivated and pumping, we can win next monday. I’m not exactly doubting us, but the refs love to call “tripping” and “delay of game: Defense” agaisnt the steelers opponents.
We have all of the chance in the world, but I’m just gonna hope we don’t lose 2 in a row.
Disappointing loss.
We’ve all noticed the lack of the deep ball. I believe Orton’s arm is plenty strong enough to throw the deep ball. I play QB in a flag football league and can only throw the ball 40 yds. I regularly connect 35 yds downfield. Orton can throw 60 yds which is plenty to connect 50 yds downfield. Even when there is not much time I can throw the ball in 2.5 seconds with a high arc and the receiver runs under the ball 35 yds downfield. If the receiver is not open at least he gets a chance to make a play. Sometimes under thrown is even better because it is easier for the receiver to come back than the trailing corner. Pass interference can help too. Incomplete isn’t that bad and a pick isn’t much worse than a punt when it’s deep downfield.
Throw the deep ball on early downs when there is one safety, look him off on the drop, set and throw down the sideline. If you wait until third down they might have two deep safeties. McDaniels has shied away from shots deep in favor of controlled offense. If you take a shot on 1st down and it falls incomplete you have 2 plays to get ten. If you do it on 2nd and 8 and it fails you have third and long. 2nd & 10 and 3rd & 8 are not where you consistently want to be. But, if you find yourself consistently in these undesirable down and distances without taking shots on early downs, you might as well take the shots to gain the benefit of stretching the defense. I believe Baltimore played up not because of Orton’s arm but our tendencies they observed from film study. I was thinking McDaniels would break that tendency this game but he didn’t.
If a team knows we will go deep they will be less successful manning the underneath areas that McDaniels has been targeting. Any QB can set and throw a high arc pass and give the receiver a chance at the ball. Marshall seems particularly gifted at this, give him a few chances early.
I believe in McDaniels and Orton.
McDaniels knows a defense will sit on the short game if we don’t throw deep.
Orton will throw deep Monday Night.
07, I hope whatever the worse day of your life coming up is that it turns out better than you think, it sounds pretty serious, best of luck, hang in there, if you’re half as tough on that day as you are here today you’ll have what it takes to get through it. Like you always say, keep faith.
DDave, thanks for the support, you knew as soon as we’d lose, some would come out and jump on the occasion, they’re just not counting on us taking them on.
bay- it was something in the past (07) let it drop.
No problemo, Baylinor. Man, i was totally off on my article matchup. Oh well 1 out of 7 ain’t bad, ha, ha. At that rate, Denver should be 14-2? Ha, ha. I never expected them to go undefeated. Seems they just came out flat on the O line today. WR’s were flat also. Haven’t heard Stokley’s # called in awhile?
We have an edge over the Steelers next week. We are at home. Denver got slapped today, and slapped hard. They will remember this sting and take it out on Pittsburgh.
NY, the offense is not set up/schemed to play an Indy style game. That’s not what McD does. Saw that, knew that the moment he was hired. Yes, they could score more but I see a team that is learning a new offense and will take a year to gel and get in sync. Time will tell but Orton is doing fine. When I saw him sacked, 1st play, I knew the O line didn’t do their homework. Defense played good but you can only stay out on the field so long. The team will rebound next week and have the fan support at Invesco. 12th man.
Is it me or did these so called arguements were hours agao. So why speak on them now?? lol Back to the team.It seemed to me once the flag were not being called in our favor. We stopped rushing the passer hard. Stop running threw our routes to the end. 23 completions for 152yards. Everyone keep saying he can’t throw it deep. We dont need a 60yard bomb. Just 20 to 30yards. He can throw that. Then its a problem. I hope it will get dealt with like they dealt with Kern. The punt game was not better in my opinion.
14-2 was our record in 98, hope you’re right, good omen.
The O line was atrocious, what a difference a game makes, Orton never had a chance today. And even before Harris went down, I have trouble understanding what was so different. Could it be a lack of respect for our running game which allowed them to pin their ears back? I mean, I haven’t looked at the numbers yet, everybody is saying how poorly Orton played, I was more unhappy about the running game, or lack of, even before they ran up the score on us in the 2nd half. Come to think of it, not only did the O line not protect Orton , they didn’t open up lanes either, it’s as if they took an extra bye week. They were at the root of most of our problems today, they should run laps tomorrow, all day!
True character is revealed in adversity, and we saw the Raven’s true character today. Coming off a 3 game slide, we got a junk yard dog trapped in a corner today. A win for Denver today, even without all the mistakes, was highly unlikely.
Now we get to see the Broncos true character on MNF against the world champs. This loss will be good for them I don’t see any reason that they should lose next week.
I actually thought the game plan was weak today on both sides but especially on Offense. I don’t think that will happen two weeks in a row.
The Ravens and Giants go on multi-game losses and they are “struggling.” The Broncos lose one game and we “were over rated.” It’s still us against them and nobody will be giving the Broncos a chance against the Steelers on MNF.
Go Broncos!!
i agree, they will rebound against Pittsburgh. It’s just crazy to sit back and watch the offensive weapons we have not be slamin up points. Defenses can NOT cover all our weapons if we use them. Where the heck has Hillis been (he’s got great hands and should be in on some plays)
My point…McD ran the best offense EVER in the NFL 2 yrs ago and then he did a very nice job last yr with Cassel. I took NE a little while to warm up and Gel (as u stated) and then the 2nd half of last yr they we’re playin good football. We can do MUCH better with the weapons we have. ..i just hope it’s not mostly Orton.
I’m anticipating that he will address the average offensive performances and start trying to light it up more…not like Indy but like I know we’re capable of with our talent. Noone knows what Orton is really capable off, but we will all find out soon enough.
You can not run the ball with both of there safeties sitting in the box. When have you ever really seen ed reed in the box. That how much they respected our run game. On the other hand. How much they didn’t respect our passing game. If their D is just running back 10 yards and sitting on everything. It’s hard to run, do screens, or slants, or comebacks. Which we always do. They had 1 on 1 on the outside. Thats if they run pass 15yards.
Yeah, I just check the stats and answered my own question about the O lines running lanes, without the Orton 11 yard run, we ran for 55 yards, how aweful.
Two things:
Why don’t we go back to the Wild Horses formation? It worked so well against the Patriots
When is Hillis going to get more carries? He had a great couple games last season and I feel his talent isn’t be used to help the team.
I was at the the game today in Baltimore and I was very disappointed in the performance of the Broncos. And the Raven’s fans pissed me off, they acted like they just won the SuperBowl with that win. Hopefully, we can pull together and beat Pittsburg on Monday.
NY – DD knows I’m aggressive and he wasn’t trying to insult you. That’s not his style. In his own way he’s telling you to chill out too. Its frustrating to see them play like they did today but its not the end of the world. I can’t say that enough. McD won’t stand for this kind of playing style, everybody including him made mistakes so we all just need too chill out and breathe. It was disappointing but there’s no need to wreak panic all over this place.
Baylinor – Saturday is the 11th anniversary of the worst day of my life. Nothing I can do but try to get through that day without completely losing my mind. Funny how my favorite number turned out to be the day I hate the most. Go figure.
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!
Right aSharpeidea! People are not reading into everythink. They see on sentence. Then think you or whoever is blaming Orton. I just think it’s not trust in him to throw a mid-level pass.(15 to 30yards) If that is the case. He need to be coach on how McD wants it done. I thought the Ravens were on all-madden. We were stuck playing on rookie. Thinking we gonna break all the tackles and score.
“everything”
If they didn’t respect our passing game, how come Orton never had time to throw? it’s obviously not as clear cut as you make it out to be. I think they respected our passing game plenty and took it to Orton.
Firefighter I was there too. You see how the Ravens were just laughing at us. Saying were the softest undefeated team they have ever faced. Not fans, but the players. If Knowshawn keep fumbling. Hillis should get some carries. He needs to know what he is suppose to do. When he is out there though. People watching TV probably could not see. All there DB and LB that were not blitzing. Would back up after the ball was hike. LB’s 5yards. DB’s 10yards. and sit and wait. They did that all game. When they started calling plays in the 4th to go a lil deep. It was open. Ravens were not playing prevent. From qt 1 thru 3. All our WR that were running pass 15yards. Either didn’t run the whole route out. Or didn’t even look for the ball . As if the knew it was not coming. All routes should be live. You never know how the D is gonna play it.
After reading the boards for weeks without comment, the only one I have is to jump on board with the baylinorcrush fanclub . The character of fans is exposed in adversity just as with players. Too many fans are reverting to Chicago antics with the Orton hate fest. All week I read predictions of us blowing out Baltimore, and now some adversity and people are screaming the sky is falling. Pull your heads out of your keesters (yes I said keesters) and analyze what happened today, and have faith that our coaches have the know how to fix our sudden leaky ship.
You don’t play 8 or 9 in the box. To show you respect someones passing game. They never did that when they were 3-0. The Ravens I mean. If you know football. 8-9 in the box is geared to make you throw. With them sittinng on everything. They knew Orton could not beat them with the big play. That was their problem they had all yr. Ravens that is.
.. baylinor, they didn’t fear our deep ball at all, that is what I think #1 was stating by bringing 8th man in the box and pressing all our short routes. I mean obviously we made mistakes in all areas today, but the one “COMMON” noticeable consistency is “Orton don’t throw deep” and that is one of the reasons why the Ravens were all over us today.
whether thats because of playcalling or his conservative choices to move to next progression too soon is unclear..what is clear is we need to open it up some down field.
07ELWAY…truce, i did not mean in any way to get u rattled. Also i don’t think anyone is un-chilled, we’re just discussing the team and possible weakneses are part of it. I have faith in the team. What ever happened 11 yrs ago, my regards. I hope u have an ok day. God is still good!…
No one said the sky is falling. At the sametime everything in not ok. If we got beat 30-23 or 30-17 ok. tuff loss. 30-7 and what I saw live at the stadium. Is not ok. You didn’t see the players blowing eachother off. You didn’t see the coaches get at WR. For not running their route all the way out. I saw Wr’s tired of running short route . Get the catch and get rocked. To the point they were short arming some.
Heaven forbid that the Broncos didn’t go unbeaten this season. I guess we really suck. How many teams would like to be 6-1 right now. No, we played like garbage and we have to perform better. That is not an excuse, it’s an assessment and this should eradicate any swelling egos that may be developing. GO BRONCOS!!! Let’s smack the Metalheads around next Monday!
we physically and mentally got beat today. we need to play a lot better football if we want to beat Pitt
and another thing, where is Peyton Hillis? he looked good in the preseason and I thought he would be getting the ball a lot this season
You don’t play 8 or 9 in the box. That’s showing no respect to someones passing game. They never did that when they were 3-0. The Ravens I mean. My bad kinda heated. I just don’t want us to go back to the nonchalant attitude. We need to want to come out next week. Tryna make another team fill like this. I fill we have weapons we are not taking advantage of. Why wait till there is time to do so??? Let work on that now.
Actually Hillis got the ball more today than he did any other game, two passes I believe, at least it’s a start, we were right to think he would start seeing some action when Larsen came back, and what about that hit by Larsen!!!
Peyton Hillis has not been used in running or passing (which he has incredible hands)….also Schefler finally in the SD game got some balls, & B Marsh has not been thrown to deep.
We have great back that can run and catch!! We have good tight ends. We have the big tall go get it WR, and excellent slot WR and and all around in Royal.
.oh yeah and a great offensive line
…R U kidding, there is no way any D is good enough to stop all of our weapons!! but we have not been using them to the max and being aggressive enough. We gotta put it together
Gotta open it up. We’re not gonna compete w/ steelers, colts, saints, eagles, vikings etc if we don’t
BTW… Go Yankees!!
I understand about the loading up the box, you don’t have to double post it, however they just didn’t sit in the box as you say, they agressively came after Orton all day. You can either defend the passing game with coverage or with up front pressure, the latter is the route they took. Like N-E has defended against Peyton Manning in the past and were successful at it. So, their game plan was way better than ours, McD admitted to it, we learn from it and move on. It’s not rocket science, McD has many ways to deploy an offense and I’m sure if the O line had protected Orton better, the game would of developped into another dimension. Bad game, behind us, big game up ahead, get to work. At home on Monday night, no better place to redeem ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m a lil peeved. It’s not like Im sitting back watching last yrs game though. lol
No worries NY, the team does have alot to work on if they want to have any chance at taking more wins but it is possible. What bothers me is they had 2 whole weeks to prepare for this game, something that only happens once a season to each team. They didn’t take advantage of all that time to prepare mentally & physically like I hoped they would. However, with strong leaders like Dawkins, McD and Champ, motivation to be better will be restored. Its just after today, they have their work cut out for them. I know this year’s team is much better than what they displayed today. This was not the Broncos team I know and love. Completely out of team character. They will get better. Mark my words. God is still good, always is but what happened 11 years ago… I’ll never understand it.
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
LOL @ UUB. Someone in the NFL.com forum is doing that now.
No Bay I didn’t repost it to rub it in. I just fixed the errors I had in it. The first play of the game. Knowshawn missed the block. He went out for the pass with out chipping. I just saw someone say team might try this as a blueprint. People were saying no other team can do this to us. I say it is 5 left that we play that can.
what do you guys think about N Moreno thus far?? Pros cons?? And how about our other Cutler draft picks. R aires, A Smith
The only thing I hope is that this game puts everything back, front and center into perspective. I was actually worried something like this would happen but this could be just what this team needs. A team that had many unknowns and questions during the beginning of the year has had great success but you don’t want to have your team become too Complacent.
This could be a blessing in disguise, and I hope things get fixed and everything gets back into perspective.
Lets go Broncs, you can do it
